  • thresholding to distinguish small features in noisy data

    Hi, I'm wondering what type of threshold would work well for distinguishing features that are very small (small in the xy sense) in comparison with the full spread, if that makes sense. The graythresh() function in Matlab that uses the Otsu method doesn't work too well for my data. Otsu is a clustering method where I think the # of pixels should be similar in each class, which is not the case for me so when I employ it I get a threshold that is way too small and falls well within a lot of the background noise that remains even after filtering.

I've found some paid utilities and i HAVE Photoshop, but I want something dedicated that is made for the task and I dont want to accidentally download spy ware. I am currently checking out the postinst script present in the debian control package and I can see Chrome uses PGP publish/subscribe model for getting automated version updates in Linux.     My client has requested data to be presented in a graphical format on the iPhone (a pie chart or something similar). I am wondering how others have handled this - A.) deliver the raw data to the phone and somehow build the chart on the phone, or B.) have the back-end services build the chart and deliver it (png format) to the phone?     I've used ( and still use ) mercurial and git. I have some repos hosted in a server with gitosis which is great and easy to setup. I am looking for a similar tool for hosting mercurial repos. It must provide minimal acl and ssh access and allow for remote config ( in the style of gitosis's "clone the admin repo and push changes" ). Extra points for automating hgweb config via said tool.

    We have been using Cassandra 0.6 and now have Column Families with millions of keys. We are interested in using the new Secondary Index feature available in the 0.7 but couldn't find any documentation on how the new index is stored. Is there any disk-space limitation or is the index stored similar to keys in that it's spread over multiple nodes? I've tried combing through the Cassandra site for an answer but to no avail.

    Hi, I am trying to get some percentage data from a stored procedure using code similar to the line below. Obviously this is going to cause a (Divide by zero error encountered) problem when base.[XXX_DataSetB] returns 0 which may happen some of the time. Does anyone know how i can deal with this in the most efficient manner? Note: There would be about 20+ lines looking like the one below... cast((base.[XXX_DataSetB] - base.[XXX_DataSetA]) as decimal) / base.[XXX_DataSetB] as [XXX_Percentage]

    I have two servlet: first servlet is similar to a client and creates an HttpURLConnection to call the second servlet. I would like send a special error, formatted like a JSON object, so I call sendError method in this way: response.sendError(code, "{json-object}") But in the first servlet when I read error with getResponseMessage method I just get standard HTTP message and not my json object as a string. How I can get my json string?
