• How to correctly size containing views

  I have an Activity that will display a custom view made up of 2 parts. I want one part to be 1/3 of visible screen height, the other part to be 2/3. I can override onMeasure and use display metrics to find the height of the display, but this does not account for the battery bar or view title sizes. DisplayMetrics dm = new DisplayMetrics(); ((WindowManager)contxt.getSystemService(Context.WINDOW_SERVICE)).getDefaultDisplay().getMetrics(dm); int height = dm.heightPixels; How can I tell the height of the displayable area? I'm prepared to override the layout or whatever. What is the Android best practices? I've seen other questions along this line, but they are inconclusive.

• no wifi after grub 2 crash

  on ubuntu 10.10 I used StartupManager to set windows 7 as the default boot, also chosen the 1024x768 resolution, 16 bit, time: 3sec, and checked "show splash screen". after the restart there was no GRUB menu at all, windows 7 booted, and in windows the clock was 0:03 instead of 10:03, also the wifi doesn't sees any connections anymore I reinstalled ubuntu 10.10 so the GRUB menu is back, changed the clock back from BIOS, but my wifi doesn't sees any connections in windows nor in ubuntu (I write this from another computer)

• Ant var and property scope

  I have a main build script that calls various targets. One of these targets needs to store a value and another target needs to display it. Obviously this is not working so I think it may be related to scope. I've tried var, property, and declaring the property outside of target1. Since var seems to be mutable, it looks like I need to use it instead, but each time my output is empty.   Hey all, I was hoping someone can answer this question for me. I am trying to display wall posts, photos and videos for a certain user for example http://www.facebook.com/sony. I can see the wall posts, photos and videos without signing up for Facebook. Do I need to use the facebook connect API to access the photos and and videos for sony so that I can display them in my iPhone application? I need to display the wall posts as a table view and the images and videos as a gallery very much like how the facebook app displays it. Any help or a API specific page would be appreciated.   Helo, I have a two Grid where I have to display some records from the table. The table consists of employee names ,manager names and their comments. Now on the first gird I am fetching data of employee names. Now on the second grid I have to display data of manager names and their comments. The data is on the same table. On show button of the first grid it shows all the employees. then on AdvWebGrid.ClickLink or any selected user on the first grid , i have to display the manager names and their comments on the second grid. • Why is my CSS tool tip not functioning properly in Google Chrome, but fine in Firefox??

  http://betawww.helpcurenow.org/media/press/ You'll see I have used spans within an anchor, with the span.hover-description set to display:none; by default, and on a:hover that span is set to display block and absolutely positioned to create a tool-tip effect when hovering over the name and email of the "For Immediate Release" contact names. Everything looks as desired in Firefox, but Chrome reveals my unknown blunder somewhere. Any help on what's the problem that is causing Chrome to not display like Firefox? Incidentally, Explorer shows the tool tip as expected, although I'm getting a funky bottom margin issue below the names, and Safari has the same issue as Chrome (must be a webkit rendering setting that I need to accommodate for).

  This is using the Backberry JDK (5.0 if needed). I have a custom Manager that contains a RichTextField. I want the height of the field to vary by the amount of text in the RichTextField. The sublayout code looks like this (rtf is a RichTextField object): protected void sublayout(int width, int height) { int h = rtf.getPreferredHeight(); setExtent(Display.getWidth(), h); layoutChild(rtf, Display.getWidth(), h); setPositionChild(rtf, 0, 0); setExtent(Display.getWidth(), h); } The call to rtf.getPreferredHeight always returns the same value, no matter how much text (and therefore how many lines on the screen). Any clues on how to get the height of a RichTextField when the content and width are known?

• How to automatically resize the Dash when screen dimensions change?

  I use a convertible thinkpad (x201t) and magick-rotation to rotate the screen by 90 degrees in tablet mode. Therefore after rotation the screen's width is only 800 points (the ordinary resolution is 1200x800). The Dash does not adapt to this new state and therefore if I click on it, it is oversized and I cannot reach the applications/files/buttons on its side. Is there a way to tell the Dash that it should only ever use a width of 800 pixels, or any other solution to automatically adapt its size when rotating?

• WPF TextBlock Overflow Text to the Left

  As background I have a very long ID that too long to display in the given area of the TextBlock. The interesting portion of the ID is the end, that is the rightmost portion. What I would like to do is have the TextBlock, rather than the text overflowing right and cutting off the rightmost portion, overflow left and cutoff the leftmost portion. That is given the ID 123456 and a TextBlock with enough space to hold four characters, to get the TextBlock to display 3456 rather than 1234 as it does by default. I could manually trim my ID for display, but given a variable spaced font that's not ideal. So is there someway to get WPF do change the overflow direction?

• excel number format - varying decimal digits

  I'm trying to set a special cell number format with theses rules: display percentage display at max 3 digits (decimal + integer part) So I can display 100% or 99.3% or 1.27% but not 100.9% or 100.27% or 99.27%. Of course, I can have negative number (-27.3%) and it does not affect my rules. I've try with the cell formating option without success: [<1]0.00%;[<10]0.0%;0% Because it seemed that excel (2010) does not support more than 2 conditions in cell formating (and so I can't expand it to manage negative number...) It there anyway to do what I want? Thanks

  for those of you who can help me..I recently installed ubuntu 12.04 lts and i got this screen flickering at the log on screen...i googled this problem and i found out that laptops with nvidia graphics have it...but i have intel hd graphics in mine...i tried "nomodeset" and it was solved but my screen resolution changed to 1024x768 and i couldn't change it to 1366x768...so im using ubuntu 11.10 for now...what should i do?? For those who can help me..i'm a newbie at ubuntu and i know nothing..so please detail your answer.... Anyone??

• Get ANSI-colored output from external command

  I am writing a small script for watchr that runs my PHP unit tests. Current script runs tests using system() and displays them colored. I am trying to add libnotify functionality, but for that I need to parse the output and match against regexp, so that notification will either display green or red. system() doesn't return output, %x does return, but puts p doesn't display colors, which I need to quickly see which test failed. One option would be to run tests twice - once for display in terminal window, and second time for checking which notification to show, but I would rather avoid it.
