  • Classless tables possible with Datamapper?

    I have an Item class with the following attributes: itemId,name,weight,volume,price,required_skills,required_items. Since the last two attributes are going to be multivalued, I removed them and create new schemes like: itemID,required_skill (itemID is foreign key, itemID and required_skill is primary key.) Now, I'm confused how to create/use this new table. Here are the options that came to my mind: 1) The relationship between Items and Required_skills is one-to-many, so I may create a RequiredSkill class, which belongs_to Item, which in turn has n RequiredSkills. Then I can do Item.get(1).requiredskills. This sounds most logical to me. 2) Since required_skills may well be thought of as constants (since they resemble rules), I may put them into a hash or gdbm database or another sql table and query from there, which I don't prefer. My question is: is there sth like a modelless table in datamapper, where datamapper is responsible from the creation and integrity of the table and allows me to query it in datamapper way, but does not require a class, like I may do it in sql?

  • Mount Bluetooth USB in VirtualBox

    I originally asked this question here Python Module PyBluez Error and have narrowed it down to basically I can't get VBox to recognize my bluetooth USB. I'm on a MAC OS X 10.9.2. I've installed VirtualBox as well as the Extension Pack and I've installed Ubuntu Desktop 10.04.4 on the VirtualBox. I've searched several Mac forums and this seems to be a common problem w/o a clear solution. Anyways, the question is how can I get VirtualBox to let Ubuntu recognize my bluetooth USB? I've checked 'Enable USB 2.0 EHCI Controller' and added my two bluetooth devices to the filters list. and when I click here to mount the USB I get this error message... Any ideas? Thanks, John

    I'm making tests on my landing page, and trying to get some traffic using google adwords. Everytime I make a change or add a new keyword, I have to wait for two or three days for google to aprove the keywords. I'm in Italy, don't know if this happens anywhere else. But is really upsetting. Note: they keywords are things like fortran, SaaS, python... So, I'm looking for an adwords alternative that is fast. That is, if I change the keywords, I can start getting traffic as soon as possible without the long approval time. PD: I've found many alternatives to adwords, but they don't say anything about how fast your adds and keywords are approved which is my major problem right now. That, and price.

  • Implementing scrolling buttons in android

    I want to create an Android app in which the buttons scroll up or down the screen, kind of like a "wheel", so that when the "last" button is reached, it is simply followed seamlessly by the first one. I would want it to look something like the Price Is Right wheel. (This video at 0:12.) I want the first round of buttons to be presented for the user to tap the screen and make his choice, which would lead to a second round of buttons based on the first choice, and a third round based on the second choice. I've done a number of different google searches, but nothing so far. Any ideas?

  • In-memory DB to perform intersects on set slices

    I have a specific programming need where I need to efficiently store large sorted sets in memory, query them for ranges, and intersect them against other sets that are also queried for ranged. I am looking at Redis, but I can't see a range slice command. MongoDB can only use 1 index, so it has to perform row-level scans, whereas I wish to process using columns that are intersected. I'm also looking at Counchbase, but can't easily determine from the documentation if it is suited to this. I know it uses Memcached, which is AFAIK not suited to this usage. Could anyone share potential solutions for this specific problem? EDIT For example, I need to perform the following: Get the IDs of all cars where the price is between 2000 and 3000, and intersect that will all cars where the engine capacity is between 3000 and 4000.

    I want to learn a new server-side language. I already know Java. I'm fascinated by Scala, have read about it a lot, and want to get practical experience. But I also have some concerns of practical nature - I want to do the backend for many small, non-profit apps, and pay the lowest price for hosting possible. I also want that other people can easily contribute to these apps, if applicable. This leads me in PHP's direction. But I don't like PHP and would like to use these small projects to learn Scala instead. You see the problem, I don't want to pay more money each month, from my own pocket, for hosting. But I want to use these projects to learn Scala. Is there a practical solution for this?

    I'm studying OOP PHP and have watched two tutorials that implement user login\registration system as an example. But implementation varies. Which way will be more correct one to work with data such as this? Load all data retrieved from database as array into a property called something like _data on class creation and further methods operate with this property Create separate properties for each field retrieved from database, on class creation load all data fields into respective properties and operate with that properties separately? Then let's say I want to create a method that returns a list of all users with their data. Which way is better? Method that returns just an array of userdata like this: Array([0]=>array([id] => 1, [username] => 'John', ...), [1]=>array([id] => 2, [username] => 'Jack', ...), ...)     Hi, I'm trying to do basic authentication to view a protected url. I want to access the protected url which looks like this: http://api.test.com/userinfo/vid?=1234 So I do the following with a WebView: mWebView.setHttpAuthUsernamePassword("api.test.com", "", "john", "password123"); mWebView.loadUrl("http://api.test.com/userinfo/vid?=1234"); but the authentication doesn't seem to work, I'm just getting an output error page. Am I using the WebView method correctly here? Thanks

  • Binding to a dictionary in Silverlight with INotifyPropertyChanged

    In silverlight, I can not get INotifyPropertyChanged to work like I want it to when binding to a dictionary. In the example below, the page binds to the dictionary okay but when I change the content of one of the textboxes the CustomProperties property setter is not called. The CustomProperties property setter is only called when CustomProperties is set and not when the values within it are set. I am trying to do some validation on the dictionary values and so am looking to run some code when each value within the dictionary is changed. Is there anything I can do here?   • How to assess a job offer with stock options? [closed]

    Cannot help expressing my curiosity about this issue. First of all, Russia, a country, I live in, as far as I understand, is a virgin land on this matter. Motivation is purely developed here and options are not existed at all. So, I am absolutely not aware about this. I roughly understand the mechanism of options. And, as far as I understand, the major white spot in the whole that story, how much will a singe share cost. How much will I get from all those N x 1000 options? I see two ways one can get money from the business: 1. Business goes IPO !!! 2. Business is sold as a whole to another owner. Next way is rather questionable about getting money: 3. Business goes without IPO "forever" (a generation would rather die before it IPO). I am also interested some explanations about situation ?3. Situation ?1 is clear - market decides everything, you either wait for stock price you satisfied or sell everything now. But topic is rather about ?2 - business is sold to another business. I am considering the following model: I am well payed specialist with company X. Somebody, with a company Y makes me an offer. Y is a startup. They cannot offer me much money and cannot overbid my salary, but they grow fast and hope to be bought soon. Instead of money, they offer me N x 1000 options. My problem is "how to assess this offer against my current, stable and well-payed job"? Are there any average cost of virtual share during selling one company to another? Are there any average stock price companies prefer to go to IPO? Are there any barriers against spreading the value of sock before selling the company or IPO (hiring too much people with options package too fast will decrease each package value, I mean)? Are there any good articles with explanations? Is all that somehow written in the law?

But it kicks the error: Unable to cast object of type 'WhereSelectEnumerableIterator2[System.Xml.Linq.XElement,System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable1[Players]]' to type 'System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable`1[Players]' As you can see, I may really have no idea how to work with all these objects/classes. Does anyone have any insight on what I may be doing wrong and how I can resolve it?
