  • What is the best way to include a php file as a template?

    - by Jon
    I have simple template that's html mostly and then pulls some stuff out of SQL via PHP and I want to include this template in three different spots of another php file. What is the best way to do this? Can I include it and then print the contents? Example of template: Price: <?php echo $price ?> and, for example, I have another php file that will show the template file only if the date is more than two days after a date in SQL.

  • Generate 3 random number that sum to 1 in R

    - by user1034797
    I am hoping to create 3 (non-negative) quasi-random numbers that sum to one, and repeat over and over. Basically I am trying to partition something into three random parts over many trials. While I am aware of a= runif(3,0,1) I was thinking that I could use 1-a as the max in the next run if, but it seems messy. But these of course don't sum to one. Any thoughts, oh wise stackoverflow-ers?

  • Disable button until tabs have been read...

    - by jimbo
    I have some tabs which have been created using Javascript and Mootools, my client wants the 'next button' at the bottom of the page to be disabled, until the tabs have been read(clicked). The page is dynamic (created with PHP and MySQL) and there could be two tabs or three, depending on the set-up. I am struggling today to think of the best solution. Any help more than welcome...

  • How to paste in a new line with vim?

    - by static_rtti
    I often have to paste some stuff on a new line in vim. What I usually do is: o<Esc>p Which inserts a new line and puts me in insertion mode, than quits insertion mode, and finally pastes. Three keystrokes. Not very efficient. Any better ideas?

  • Multiple branch merges, stick with Subversion or move to Mercurial or Git?

    - by casualcoder
    Given a situation where there are three branches, A, B and C, where A is merged to both B and C on a regular basis. From time to time B is merged to C. With Subversion, B apparently must be removed and recreated after every merge to C. This raises groans from colleagues, but would any alternative do any better? It would seem to me that Mercurial would not. Perhaps Git? Does anyone else run into this problem?

    according to http://www.cplusplus.com/reference/clibrary/cstring/memcpy/ c++'s memcpy takes three parameters: destination, source and size/bytes. it also returns a pointer. why is that so? aren't the parameters enough to input and copy data. or am i misunderstanding something? the examples don't use the return value

  • What runs before main()?

    - by MikimotoH
    After testing on msvc8, I found: Parse GetCommandLine() to argc and argv Standard C Library initialization C++ Constructor of global variables These three things are called before entering main(). My questions are: Will this execution order be different when I porting my program to different compiler (gcc or armcc), or different platform? What stuff does Standard C Library initialization do? So far I know setlocale() is a must. Is it safe to call standard C functions inside C++ constructor of global variables?

  • Is there a way to use sscanf with stdin?

    - by j_eng
    I have a program that either takes data from a file or from the standard input. I wrote code for scanning the file using sscanf. I was wondering if I could reuse that code but with stdin instead of using scanf? Ex: How could I modify this so that it works with standard input? while(fgets(buffer, MAX_LEN, input) != NULL) { if (sscanf(buffer, "%s %s %s", one, two, three) == 3) { } }

  • Database Design Question

    - by Soo
    Ok SO, I have a user table and want to define groups of users together. The best solution I have for this is to create three database tables as follows: UserTable user_id user_name UserGroupLink group_id member_id GroupInfo group_id group_name This method keeps the member and group information separate. This is just my way of thinking. Is there a better way to do this? Also, what is a good naming convention for tables that link two other tables?

  • Loop through array, print with string.

    - by Adam
    I have a simple array like: var myArr=["one","two","three"]; an I have a counting loop, which increases the value of var i by one. What I want to do is print the next value from the array each time the loop runs, next to a text string, like so: alert('value number '+myArr[i]+); But for some reason I can't get this to work. The following code works, so I'm assuming I'm not calling the counter right: alert('value number '+myArr[0]+);

  • DirectorySearch.PageSize = 2 doesn't work

    - by Bero
    using (DirectorySearcher srch = new DirectorySearcher(String.Format("(memberOf= {0})",p_Target.DistinguishedName))) { srch.PageSize = 2; SearchResultCollection results = results = srch.FindAll(); int count = results.Count; } count = 3 (THREE) and not 2. Why is that? I don't want to have all results in just one page. I know that PageSize = 2 is silly small but I set that value in this case just for testing purpose (in reality it will be more).

  • Is there a way to combine these 3 tables? (mysql)

    - by ggfan
    I'm creating a "flagged" func that flags users, postings, and comments. I am currently using three tables: "flagged_users" "flagged_postings" and "flagged_comments". And in each table, there's: flagged_id, user_id/posting_id/comment_id, reason. Is there a way to combine into just one table? or is 3 tables the best?

  • Technical Article: Oracle Magazine Java Developer of the Year Adam Bien on Java EE 6 Simplicity by Design

    - by janice.heiss(at)oracle.com
    Java Champion and Oracle Magazine Java Developer of the Year, Adam Bien, offers his unique perspective on how to leverage new Java EE 6 features to build simple and maintainable applications in a new article in Oracle Magazine. Bien examines different Java EE 6 architectures and design approaches in an effort to help developers build efficient, simple, and maintainable applications.From the article: "Java EE 6 consists of a set of independent APIs released together under the Java EE name. Although these APIs are independent, they fit together surprisingly well. For a given application, you could use only JavaServer Faces (JSF) 2.0, you could use Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB) 3.1 for transactional services, or you could use Contexts and Dependency Injection (CDI) with Java Persistence API (JPA) 2.0 and the Bean Validation model to implement transactions.""With a pragmatic mix of available Java EE 6 APIs, you can entirely eliminate the need to implement infrastructure services such as transactions, threading, throttling, or monitoring in your application. The real challenge is in selecting the right subset of APIs that minimizes overhead and complexity while making sure you don't have to reinvent the wheel with custom code. As a general rule, you should strive to use existing Java SE and Java EE services before expanding your search to find alternatives." Read the entire article here.

  • Using Oracle Data in the Business Rules Engine

    - by Christopher House
    Yesterday I started working on some new functionality that I had planned to implement using the Business Rules Engine.  As I got further into it, I realized that some of my rules were going to need to reference some data that resides in an Oracle database.  I knew the Business Rules Composer supports using DataConnections and TypedDataTables, but I’d never used this functionality myself, so I wasn’t so sure how it would work with Oracle.  As it turns out, it’s very do-able, there’s just little hoop you need to jump through. I fired up BRC and my suspicions were quickly confirmed.  BRC only recognizes SQL Server databases when it comes to editing rules.  Not letting that deter me, I decided to see if I could “trick” BRE into using Oracle data. On my local SQL server, I created a new database and in that database, created a table that matched the schema of the table I wanted to use in the Oracle database.  I then set about creating my rules, referencing the new SQL Server database everywhere I wanted to use Oracle data.  Finally, I created a new class library and added a class that implements Microsoft.RuleEngine.IFactRetriever.  In that class, I added the necessary code to get a DataSet from the Oracle server, wrap it in a TypedDataTable and assert it into the rule engine.  It’s worth pointing out that in my IFactRetriever class, I made sure to set my DataSet name to the name of the database I’d referenced in the BRC and the DataTable’s name to the name of the table that I’d referenced in the BRC. After gac’ing the new class library and deploying my policy, I tested and everything worked as expected.
