• Mendeley - Exporting A Collection Straight to PDF or HTML

  I'm in love with Mendeley Desktop for organizing my papers. I'm working on a survey paper and I want to send an updated list of the papers in the survey to my advisors. The best solution would be to get them to sign up for Mendeley, but they're not as techy as I am. Right now I'm doing the following: 1) export Mendeley to Bibtex 2) open Bibtex file in Jabref and export to HTML Is there a way to cut out Jabref from this? Thanks!

• Emacs / Wanderlust / OSX -- Any ideas what could cause Emacs to acquire focus when using Wanderlust?

  I'm using Wanderlust with Emacs on OSX 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) and frequently switch to a different application while Wanderlust is prefetching e-mails and organizing the summary buffers. At several stages during this process, Emacs acquires focus and steels me away from whatever I was doing in another application. I don't think Wanderlust has any built-in applescripts and I haven't added any, so I have no idea what could be causing Emacs to demand focus. Any ideas how to leave Emacs in the background while updating Wanderlust?

• Trouble with local id / remote id configuration of VPN

  I have a NetGear UTM firewall and a Windows machine running NetGear's VPN client. The Windows machine I can put on the UTM network and take off of it. When I am cabled into the local (internal) the following configuration works: UTM: Local Id: Local Wan IP: (The UTM's WAN IP address) Remote Id: User FQDN: utm_remote1.com Client: Local Id: DNS: utm_remote1.com Remote Id: (The UTM's WAN IP address) Gateway authentication: preshared key Policy remote endpoint: FQDN: utm_remote1.com But when I'm off the UTM's internal local network and simply coming in from the internet, this does not work. It simply repeats SEND phase 1 before giving up. Since I know that the UTM WAN IP is accessible from both inside and outside the network, I figured the problem was with the Client local id. So, I tried the following: UTM: Local Id: Local Wan IP: (The UTM's WAN IP address) Remote Id: (A DN of a self-signed certificate I created for the client and uploaded into the UTM certificates) Client: Local Id: (The DN of the aforementioned self signed cert) Remote Id: (The UTM's WAN IP address) Gateway authentication: (the aforementioned self signed cert) Policy remote end point: ... er, ... my choices are IP and FQDN.... Not sure what to put here No matter what I've tried, it just keeps repeating the SEND phase 1. Any ideas?

• What is wrong with my Watcher (incron-like) daemon?

  I have installed Watcher this way: both watcher.py and watcher.ini are located in /etc I also installed pyinotify and it does work when I use python -m pyinotify -v /var/www However, I want to use the daemon and when I start watcher.py, I get weird lines on my watcher.log (see below). I also included my watcher.ini file. Note: I have the latest version of Python. The watcher.py can be found here What is wrong with what I did? Also, do I really need pyinotify? • NSFetchedResultsController crashing on performFetch: when using a cache

  I make use of NSFetchedResultsController to display a bunch of objects, which are sectioned using dates. On a fresh install, it all works perfectly and the objects are displayed in the table view. However, it seems that when the app is relaunched I get a crash. I specify a cache when initialising the NSFetchedResultsController, and when I don't it works perfectly. The only potential issue is the section header (day), which I construct like this when creating a new object: // Set the new format [formatter setDateFormat:@"dd MMMM"]; // Set the day of the event [event setValue:[formatter stringFromDate:[event valueForKey:@"utc_start"]] forKey:@"day"]; Like I mentioned, all of this works fine if there is no cache involved. • Core Data migration failing with error: Failed to save new store after first pass of migration

  In the past I had already implemented successfully automatic migration from version 1 of my data model to version 2. Now, using SDK 3.1.3, migrating from version 2 to version 3 fails with the following error: Unresolved error Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=134110 UserInfo=0x5363360 "Operation could not be completed. (Cocoa error 134110.)", { NSUnderlyingError = Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=256 UserInfo=0x53622b0 "Operation could not be completed. (Cocoa error 256.)"; reason = "Failed to save new store after first pass of migration."; } I have tried automatic migration using NSMigratePersistentStoresAutomaticallyOption and NSInferMappingModelAutomaticallyOption and also migration using only NSMigratePersistentStoresAutomaticallyOption, providing a mapping model from v2 to v3. I see the above error logged, and no object is available in the application. However, if I quit the application and reopen it, everything is in place and working.   So I'm trying to register for the MPMoviePlayerDidExitFullscreenNotification notification in my universal app (iPhone and iPad). Problem is, OS 3.1.3 doesn't support this notification, and just crashes.   I have been searching on the web to see if I can use GoogleMaps with the JXMapViewer. According to this, it is illegal, but the article is more than three years old. Could anyone be kind enough to tell me if I can use GoogleMaps with the JXMap viewer? I know that Google has recently allowed desktop applications to use their static maps provided that the application is freely accessible to people on some website. If this can be done, I would appreciate some pointer to where I could start looking so that I can use Google Maps, I tried messing around with this but to no avail. Thanks in advance. Edit: I have managed to show a map in my JXMapKit. The only problem is that I am getting the image as a tiled image, whilst I only need one. Any help on this issue?

• Cannot get UISearchBar Scope Bar to appear in Toolbar on iPad

  This is really causing me fits. I put a toolbar on the IUView on the iPad. I added the following: Search Bar (not Search Bar and Search Display) to the toolbar. I set the options to be as follows: Show Cancel Button, Show Scope Bar, Scope Button Titles are: "Title1" and "Title2" (with Title2's radio button selected). Opaque, Clear Context and Auto Resize are checked. I hooked up the delegate of Search Bar to the "File's Owner" and linked it to IBOutlet theSearchBar. In my viewWillAppear I have the following: [theSearchBar setScopeButtonTitles:[NSArray arrayWithObjects:@"Near Me",@"Everywhere",nil]]; //Just in case: [theSearchBar setShowsScopeBar:YES]; //doesn't seem to do anything: //[theSearchBar sizeToFit]; searchDisplayController = [[UISearchDisplayController alloc] initWithSearchBar:theSearchBar contentsController:self]; [self setSearchDisplayController:searchDisplayController]; [searchDisplayController setDelegate:self]; [searchDisplayController setSearchResultsDataSource:self]; //again--does not seem to do anything..but people have suggested it: [theSearchBar sizeToFit]; Okay, so far, I thought, so good. In the toolbar to the right of the search area? Where?

It calls a method within fullGroupOfMaps, but if I step into the class from that line while debugging, all fullGroupOfMaps's objects are now out of scope and I get a crash. So apologies for the long question and big amount of code, but I guess my main question it: How should I handle a class with an NSMutableArray as an instance variable? What is the proper way of creating objects to be added to the class so that they don't get freed before I'm done with them? Many thanks

  Hi I have an UINavigationController which the user navigates with. When pushing a specific UIViewController onto the navigation stack, a "settings" button appear in the navigationBar. When the user clicks this button I would like to flip the current view/controller, i.e. everything on screen, including the navigationBar, over to a settings view. So I have a SettingsViewController which I would like to flip to from my CurrentViewController that lives on a navigationController stack. I get all kinds of strange behavior trying to do this, the UIViews belonging to the SettingsViewController will start to animate, sliding into place, the navigationButtons moves around, nothing acts as I would think. -(void)settingsHandler { SettingViewController *settingsView = [[SettingViewController alloc] init]; [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:1.0]; [UIView setAnimationTransition:UIViewAnimationTransitionFlipFromRight forView:self.navigationController.view cache:YES]; [self.navigationController.view addSubview:settingsView.view]; [UIView commitAnimations]; } The above results in the views flipping correctly, but the subviews of the SettingsViewController are all positioned in (0, 0) and after the transition, they 'snap' into place?   belongs_to :removed_friend, :class_name => 'Profile', :foreign_key => "(CASE WHEN friendships.profile_id = #{self.id} THEN friendships.friend_id ELSE friendships.profile_id END)" The self.id its not working too :s it should be the id of the profile that is triggered the action. Anyway the main problem is that this foreign_key is not working and i got a mysql error. please help.. thanks

• UIView Disappears after pan gesture

  I am using the following handler for a IUPanGesture. However when the pan ends, the UIView that it is moving disappears.
