• Is it possible to dynamically add webcontrols via jQuery???

  Currently I have a webform that has a series of links. What I'd like to be able to do is add a webcontrol's content when one of the links is clicked. Is this kind of thing even possible? If not, what's the best strategy for loading a set of controls (one textbox and one dropdown with values from one link, two textboxes and a checkbox from another link, etc.). I'd need to be able get the values of each of these controls on postback. Ideally, I'd like to be able to add that new content to an acordian control, most likely the jQuery UI acordian. So each clickable link would add new content to an acordian control. What's everybody's thoughts on this?

• Custom activity designers in Workflow Foundation 3.5: How do they work?

  Intent of this post: I realise that Workflow Foundation is not extremely popular on StackOverflow and that there will probably be not many answers, or none at all. This post is intended as a resource to people trying to customise workflow activities' appearance through custom designer classes. Goals: I am attempting to create a custom designer class for Workflow activities to achieve the following: Make activities look less technical. For example, I don't necessarily want to see the internal object name as the activity's "title" -- instead, I'd like to see something more descriptive. Display the values of certain properties beneath the title text. I would like to see some properties' values directly underneath the title so that I don't need to look somewhere else (namely, at the Properties window). Provide custom drop areas and draw custom internal arrows. As an example, I would like to be able to have custom drop areas in very specific places. What I found out so far: I created a custom designer class deriving from SequentialActivityDesigner as follows: [Designer(typeof(SomeDesigner))] public partial class SomeActivity: CompositeActivity { ... } class PlainDesigner : SequentialActivityDesigner { ... } Through overriding some properties and the OnPaint method, I found out about the following correspondences between the properties and how the activity will be displayed: Figure 1. • MySQLdb not INSERTING, _mysql does fine.

  Okay, I log onto the MySQL command-line client as root. I then open or otherwise run a python app using the MySQLdb module as root. When I check the results using python (IDLE), everything looks fine. When I use the MySQL command-line client, no INSERT has occurred. If I change things around to _mysql instead of MySQLdb, everything works fine. I'd appreciate any clarification(s). Basically, if an admins clicks on a Room object to edit, the page they go to will show all of the Rooms default values except for the 'bans'. No matter what I do, I can't find a way to get Django to display the currently 'banned users' for the Room object. Here is the line of code that needs to be changed (from the view): defaults = {'type': room.type, 'number': room.number, 'partyline': room.partyline.id} if room.owner: defaults['owner'] = room.owner.id if room.bans: defaults['bans'] = room.bans.all() ### this does not work properly! • Android Stream Data Over Wifi?

  Im trying to make an app for android that will stream the data of the accelerometer to be used as a game controller on my pc over a local wifi connection. Is it possible to make some kind of wifi stream of the accelerometer values in the android app and then make the pc somehow 'read' this stream? Or would it just be better for the pc to make endless calls to the phone getting the newest accelerometer values from a local android server? It would also have to send commands from the phone such as 'button1 pressed', 'button1 released'.

• MS Chart Control for ASP.NET 100% Stacked Bar Chart Question.

  Hello All, I am trying to display a chart with several different bars that represent a ratio of some values. For example, one bar may say that there are 25 items in three different groups (maybe dirty, clean, and broken) and of those 25 items x items from each category add up to the total. Later the data will dynamically change and be displayed accordingly. But for now all I want to do is be able to display three different values on the same bar. Unfortunately, whatever properties I need to bind the data to are buried somewhere in the menus and I cannot seem to find them. Do any of you guys have experience with this sort of chart?

• Spring 3 MVC - how to turn a form into a query string?

  I have a simple Spring form that gets bound to a form object on post. The http POST handler does some work, and then needs to redirect to a new URL, passing the form data as querystring parameters. So, assuming I have a form backing object with properties "param1" and "param2", I want to build a string that looks something like this: redirect:/app/new/page?param1=value;param2=value Now, Spring will automatically bind values FROM a querystring or a form post into my form object, but I want to GENERATE a querystring with values taken from the form object. Obviously it's trivial to do this manually but since I'm going to have lots of different form backing objects, is there some built-in facility in Spring to generate a query string from a form object, suitable for building into a URL?   Hey folks I've deployed an ASP.NET MVC app on IIS7 and Windows Server 2008. I've read posts on here, and around the web, but can't get the darn client-side caching to work. I'm trying to cache everything in the /Content folder. So far I've select that folder in IIS manager, and set the appropriate HTTP Response Headers (under Common Headers). I've also checked the web.config file in the /Content folder and the values there are being set. All resources in /Content come back with this (from FireBug): Cache-Control no-cache, no-store, must-revalidate Pragma no-cache Content-Type image/png Expires -1 Last-Modified Sun, 11 Oct 2009 19:01:40 GMT Accept-Ranges bytes Etag "f318d643a54aca1:0" Server Microsoft-IIS/7.0 X-Powered-By ASP.NET Date Sun, 11 Oct 2009 20:40:01 GMT Content-Length 620 Note the Cache-Control and Expires values for this static image being requested. The site is currently compiled in Debug (this will change), but surely that wouldn't make a difference? Obviously I'm overlooking something, any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

  I have a file that's littered with these: http://www.utexas.edu/learn/html/spchar.html That link just displays all sorts of HTML entities, such as – &ndash; — &mdash; ¡ &iexcl; and so on. Is it possible in Python to natively convert these characters back into their values so any occurrences of &ndash; will appear as – instead? My current approach was just to make a dict of key html entities and their utf-8 values and do search and replace, but I was wondering if there are any libraries that can take care of this for me.

It sets the series values using this code: .SeriesCollection(1).Values = "=" & Ws.Name & "!R" & CurrRow & "C3:R" & CurrRow & "C8" What I am struggling with is how do I set the series labels? The series labels will always be the 1st row and be in the corresponding column. I know this is much simplier than the code above, but I am stumped. Any help is appreciated.

  Hi all, I've been struggling with a VBA problem for a while now and I'll try to explain it as thoroughly as possible. I have created a VSTO plugin with my own RTD implementation that I am calling from my Excel sheets. To avoid having to use the full-fledged RTD syntax in the cells, I have created a UDF that hides that API from the sheet. The RTD server I created can be enabled and disabled through a button in a custom Ribbon component. The behavior I want to achieve is as follows: If the server is disabled and a reference to my function is entered in a cell, I want the cell to display Disabled If the server is disabled, but the function had been entered in a cell when it was enabled (and the cell thus displays a value), I want the cell to keep displaying that value If the server is enabled, I want the cell to display Loading Sounds easy enough. Here is an example of the - non functional - code: Public Function RetrieveData(id as Long) Dim result as String // This returns either 'Disabled' or 'Loading' result = Application.Worksheet.Function.RTD("SERVERNAME", "", id) RetrieveData = result If(result = "Disabled") Then // Obviously, this recurses (and fails), so that's not an option If(Not IsEmpty(Application.Caller.Value2)) Then // So does this RetrieveData = Application.Caller.Value2 End If End If End Function The function will be called in thousands of cells, so storing the 'original' values in another data structure would be a major overhead and I would like to avoid it. Also, the RTD server does not know the values, since it also does not keep a history of it, more or less for the same reason. I was thinking that there might be some way to exit the function which would force it to not change the displayed value, but so far I have been unable to find anything like that. Any ideas on how to solve this are greatly appreciated! Thanks, Che EDIT: By popular demand, some additional info on why I want to do all this: As I said, the function will be called in thousands of cells and the RTD server needs to retrieve quite a bit of information. This can be quite hard on both network and CPU. To allow the user to decide for himself whether he wants this load on his machine, he or she can disable the updates from the server. In that case, he or she should still be able to calculate the sheets with the values currently in the fields, yet no updates are pushed into them. Once new data is required, the server can be enabled and the fields will be updated. Again, since we are talking about quite a bit of data here, I would rather not store it somewhere in the sheet. Plus, the data should be usable even if the workbook is closed and loaded again.

I have created the Voter table in which I need to insert the record. I ma passing the values from the JSF to EJB, it is working.I have created JPA controller class (which automatcally generates the persistence code based on the data base classes) Ex: getting the entity manager etc., em = getEntityManager(); em.getTransaction().begin(); em.persist(voter); em.getTransaction().commit(); I have created the named query also: @NamedQuery(name = "Voter.insertRecord", query = "INSERT INTO Voter v values v.voterID = :voterID,v.password = :password,v.partSSN = :partSSN,v.address = :address, v.zipCode = :zipCode,v.ssn = :ssn, v.vFirstName = :vFirstName,v.vLastName = :vLastName,v.dob = :dob"),But still not able to insert the record? • Changing constraints on the fly

  Hi, I have a dijit.form.NumberTextBox input field that starts out with these parms: new dijit.form.NumberTextBox({ id: din1, style: "width:60px", constraints: { places: 0, pattern: '######' } }, din1); Everything works great..My question is I would like to change 'places' and 'pattern' parms on the fly. So I wrote this to change 'places' and 'patterns' parms: var myFldObj = dijit.byId(din1); if (myFldObj) { var myConstObj = myFldObj.attr('constraints'); if (myConstObj) { myConstObj.places = 2; myConstObj.pattern = '#####.0'; } } So, after I show the form again, I'd expect the entry field to allow 2 decimal places but the form still acts like places=0 and pattern='######'. When I check the values of 'places' and 'pattern' I get what I'd expect (2 and #####.0). My question: Can you change these values on the fly?? OR Do you have to destroy the original dijit object and recreate with new parms?? Thx!!

  I have a set of three values, call them x, y, and z. If value A happens to match only one in the set x, y, and z, then that means we have a proper match and we stop searching for a match, even if it is at y. It can match any one in that set. These values x, y, and z are non-constant so I cannot use a switch-case statement. How do I do this with an if-elseif-else statements without having to use GOTO. I am using C++ (no boost or any of that other fancy stuff). Now, I am trying to do this in code and it is racking my brain this morning (not enough coffee?)

  Hello, I have an array set inside a velocity template that contains some paths. The idea is to put a few "default" .js/.css files that 90% of the pages will use in this array. However, the other pages will still have to be able to add/delete values from this array, in case there are no linked files at all, or I need to add some.
