  • Visual C++: Invalid allocation size. How to force the debugger to stop on this message?

    The MFC program I am debugging is printing this message in the "Output" window in Visual Studio 9.0: HEAP[AppName.exe]: Invalid allocation size - 99999998 (exceeded 7ffdefff) I'm pretty sure this is due to a bad "new", uninitialized variable or similar error. The question is: how do I get the debugger to stop on this message so that I can view the stack trace and solve the problem?

    I have an application that is running on .net 3.5 SP1 and that is supposed to check if .net 4 is installed. Actually, I'm more interested if MSBuild v4 is installed, which would boil down to a simple File.Exists(@"C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\msbuild.exe"); However, apart from the fragility of the 4.0.30319 Version (and the Windir, but that's easy to solve), I wonder if there is a more appropriate way, like an API?

    I want to grab some site data, but it must be a login account. So I register it and login, I found some API about this site that can be used to grab data. I use this Chrome plugin "cookie.txt export" export cookies.txt, I copy all content it export and use following cmd like wget -x --load-cookies cookies.txt http://www.example.com/api/name=xxxx but it doesn't work. It download the page that need I login. So I think this site has some other verification strategy, how can I pass it? Whether I must input in browser manually?

    With plain old sdl in C i would copy the dlls i need into the exe directory and was able to run without install. Now i am using sdl.net. I tried doing that but had no luck. Not even a clue to what dlls are missing as i did in the old C way. How can i have users run my sdl app without installation?

In the 'Run' part of the scheduled task I have the following: "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" "http://www.example.co.uk/script.php" So when it runs it opens Internet Explorer and browses to that URL. Is it possible to get it to close Internet Explorer after running the script?

When I deploy my Windows Service using InstallUtil.exe: a) do I have to explicitly tell it to reference my FooLib.dll? b) where does FooLib.dll get deployed if I mean to deploy it as a private assembly and not in the GAC?

    I want to write an app that takes in a model filename via cmd line, create a list of stats (poly count, scaling, as much as possible or maybe the stats that i would like) and to load the model with its textures (with anything else) and draw it from multiple position to save the images as pngs. How would i do this? are there utils i can use to extract data from models? how about drawing the models? my server does not have a desktop or video card, would no video HW be a problem?

    I tried googling for this issue and found many people with the same problem but no solution. $result = exec("C:\\Ruby191\\bin\\lessc.bat less\\$file", $output); Here result is an empty string and output an empty array. Same thing with: $result = exec("cmd /c C:\\Ruby191\\bin\\lessc.bat less\\$file", $output); I am sure the path is correct; I am sure exec() is enabled. I tried exec, shell_exec, system and none work. lessc is less CSS.

  • Remote XP -> Win98 WMI Connection

    I've asked this on Technet, but because Win98 is no longer supported, I can't get any decent information, I was hoping there might be some "old school" developers here who might be able to help me. There is an application that we use a lot at work. This application should run 8am-5pm with as little interruption as possible. Most of the computers where this application runs are using Win98, and we have no way to upgrade them because we can't buy new hardware at the moment. My computer is running WinXP, so I thought of a way to make sure that this application runs all the time: The idea I had was to develop a Windows Service that executes a VBScript file that contains a WMI query to get a list of processes from each computer. Each list is then examined, and, depending on whether or not the target application is running, it will either do nothing, or it will execute another VBScript file that contains a WMI query that will be used to start the target application remotely. I later found a way to do this all with 1 VBScript file (see code below) My problem is in the remote connection to the target computers. I've installed WMI Core 1.5 on them, but every time I try the remote connection, I get the following: The remote server is unavailable or does not exist: 'GetObject' VBScript runtime error 800A01CE I've done some research, and all I've found is info about DCOM Config and Windows Firewall, but Win98 doesn't have either of these. I like the user to select a file and then do the following things 1) Hash it with md5 and sha1 2) If archive check if an exe is in it 3) If archive check if password protected The first to see if the user has uploaded it already (today, yesterday, last month) 2nd to prevent viruses 3rd i should be fine without but if i decide to not allow protected archives i can warn before the user uploads it. How may i do this through the browser?

    Glassfish v3 is launched as follows: ./bin/asadmin start-domain <domain-name> This script eventually runs: exec "$JAVA" -jar "$AS_INSTALL_LIB/admin-cli.jar" "$@" admin-cli.jar eventually launches another process, effectively putting itself into the background. I would like to launch glassfish without putting itself in the background for the purpose of monitoring with daemontools (ie: svc). Is this possible? The documentation talks about using inittab here which seems like it would also require a way to launch it without forking or backgrounding so some other process (eg: inittab, evc, etc.) can watch the process id and restart it if it crashes. However, in this inittab example, is it using the same backgrounding cmd line, so I don't know how inittab can possibly respawn the process when it doesn't know what process id to watch. Am I missing something?

    Do we still need to bother with vcredist.exe when distributing windows native applications ? Does any of these come bundled with Win-7 ? If not, are there any technical reasons these are not shipped to people via e.g. windows update - insteadof letting us burden the customers with yet-another-thing-that.must-work ? (Ok, that might sound argumentative, but I'm really wondering the reason these libraries are not default installed/updated on windows machines)

    I'm trying to run subprocess.call() with unicode filename, and here is simplified problem: n = u'c:\\windows\\notepad.exe ' f = u'c:\\temp\\nèw.txt' subprocess.call(n + f) which raises famous error: UnicodeEncodeError: 'ascii' codec can't encode character u'\xe8' Encoding to utf-8 produces wrong filename, and mbcs passes filename as new.txt without accent I just can't read any more on this confusing subject and spin in circle. I found here lot of answers for many different problems in past so I thought to join and ask for help myself Thanks
