  I need a tricky thing in a C++ 2011 code. Currently, I have a metafunction of this kind : template<unsigned int N, unsigned int M> static constexpr unsigned int myFunction() This function can generate number based on N and M. I would like to write a metafunction with input N and M, and that will recursively construct a variadic template by decrementing M. For example, by calling this function with M = 3, It will construct a variadic template called List equal to : List... = myFunction<N, 3>, myFunction<N, 2>, myFunction<N, 1>, myFunction<N, 0> How to do that (if it is possible of course) ?

• How can I load an MP3 or similar music file for display and analysis in wxWidgets?

  I'm developing a GUI in wxPython which allows a user to generate sequences of colours for some toys I'm building. Part of the program needs to load an MP3 (and potentially other formats further down the line) and display it to the user. That should be sufficient to get started but later I'd like to add features like identifying beats and some crude frequency analysis. Is there any simple way of loading / understanding an MP3's contents to display a plot of its amplitudes to the screen using wxWidgets? I later intend to port to C++/wxWidgets for speed and to avoid having to distribute wxPython.

• How do I compile on linux to share with all distributions?

  I compiled a PHP extension on Fedora Core 12, but when I send it to someone using CentOS they get the error: "ELF file OS ABI invalid" I'm not sure what causes this running file provides the following info: ELF 64-bit LSB shared object, AMD x86-64, version 1 (GNU/Linux), not stripped An extension that loads fine provides the following from file: ELF 64-bit LSB shared object, AMD x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), not stripped So it seems I need to generate a SYSV type file for some distributions, instead of a GNU/LINUX file, no idea how though. Any pointers? Also should I be statically linking?

• OGRE: Non-Standard Resolution

  I am using OGRE to make a re-rendering of the film, which has a wide aspect ratio (around 1.85). The OGRE dialog seems to be showing the standard full screen resolution by default (800/600, 1024/768, etc.), but those obviously have aspect ratios of 1.333 or around that. But as long as I am not running full screen mode, why should I be restricted to these screen sizes only? I can definitely change the viewport size, but that would make it difficult for me to generate the video later. Any idea?

I have my gemspec and gem set up to generate a suitable executable that points to the my_sinatra_app.rb (which is executable) but the sinatra server never runs. • Looking for a way to get HTTP Digest Authentication headers from incoming http requests

  I've been working on a REST implementation with my existing Cake install, and it's looking great except that I want to use HTTP Digest Authentication for all requests (Basic Auth won't cut it). So great, I'll generate a header in the client app (which is not cake) and send it to my cake install. Only problem is, I can't find a method for extracting that Digest from the request... I've looked through the Cake API for something that I can use to get the Digest Header. You'd think that Request Handler would be able to grab it, but I can't find anything resembling that. There must be another method of getting the digest that I am overlooking? In the meantime I'm writing my own regex to parse it out of the Request... once I'm done I'll post it here so no one has to waste as much time as I did hunting for it.

  HI Folks, I am programming a website for online-reservation-management, preferably for holiday homes. I want to implement a service, which allows the user to pass all their occupation dates to other websites. My question is, what would be the most professional way to do this? Generate a XML-stream Create a valid RSS Feed I think that a XML file has the advantages of being straight to the point, without any information that noone needs. Webmasters of other websites surely prefer the structure of a simple XML file. On the other hand, when someone without programming knowledge wants to use the RSS-Feed with a feedreader or simply with the browser, it may be user-friendlier to use a RSS-FEED. • Style Data in a gridview which dynamically generates the columns

  I have built a dynamic gridview using the following code grdVariants.Columns.Clear(); int i = 0; foreach (DataColumn column in options.Columns) { grdVariants.Columns.Add(new GridViewColumn { Header = column.ColumnName, DisplayMemberBinding = new Binding(string.Format("[{0}]", i++)) }); } This will dynamically generate my columns at runtime, I then bind the data using lstVariantsGrid.DataContext = options; lstVariantsGrid.Items.Refresh(); This all works great and shows the data in the correct columns etc, the only issue i have is that I can't style the rows like I would in xaml as it is all an unknown quantity until runtime. Can anyone offer some advice on how I might go about doing this? One of the biggest problems I have is that one of the columns needs to display the image rather than just the path which it currently shows, as well as fiddling with fonts and colors etc. Thanks for your time.

  I have a legacy C++ project that takes an annoyingly long time to build (several minutes, even for small incremental changes), and I found most of the time was spent linking. The project is already using precompiled headers and incremental compilation. I have enabled the "/time" command line parameter in the hope I would get more details about what is slowing the linker, and got the following output: 1>Linking... 1> MD Merge: Total time = 59.938s 1> Generate Transitions: Total time = 0.500s 1> MD Finalize: Total time = 7.328s 1>Pass 1: Interval #1, time = 71.718s 1>Pass 2: Interval #2, time = 8.969s 1>Final: Total time = 80.687s 1>Final: Total time = 80.953s Is there a way to get more details about each of these steps? For example, I would like to find if they are spending most time linking to a specific .lib or .obj file. Also, is there any documentation that explains what each of these steps do?

• Tool for response time analysis on JBoss server?

  I am running a pretty high traffic cluster of JBoss servers serving REST requests and I am interested in tools reading the access logs in Tomcat format (with %D parameter) to provide a detailed analysis of the response time on a per-call basis. Ideally this tool would generate a chart showing the progression of the response time throughout the day, hour per hour, then a weekly view with averages on the day, and monthly with average on the weeks (CACTI style). I've looked for such tools and couldn't find anything. Is any of you guys aware of something close to that before I start writing my own? I haven't looked into CACTI extensions yet, but that be an option?

  I have created an avmutablecomposition and tried to use insertEmptyTimeRange to generate 1 minute of silence. This doesn't appear to be working. I have also tried creating an avmutablecompositiontrack using addMutableTrackWithMediaType:preferredTrackID: and then insertEmptyTimeRange on the track and still no success. To give some background on my app, I allow users to add audio samples a timeline and then playback or export and this is working really well using the av classes. The problem is that I need to make sure that the audio is exactly 1 min (for example). Regardless of the info about my specific app above, is it possible to insert an empty time range into a comp or comptrack?

  Hi, I am trying to make the Spinner behave different way when the user clicked on an item for a long time. I have spinner with some project and I want two things. When the user simple click on an item I want to normal select it. When the user have long clicked on an item I want to show dialog, with options like "Edit item", "Delete item". The first step works well (ofcourse), but when I am trying to do the second task I can not make spinner to generate longClicked event. • Problems with IRQs when connecting two digium card in and asterisk box

  I have two Digium Wildcard TDM800P with 8 FXO ports each. When I connect both at the same time IRQ misses start showing up making my computer unresponsive and unusable. One card works fine but I need all 16 FXO ports to work to receive calls from my Telco. Is there a way for the cards to communicate with each other so they don't generate as many interrupts. Or a way to tweak Linux to dedicate separate IRQ's for each card. I have tried disabling Audio, ACPI and USB ports. Still too many IRQ misses.

• Bit Flipping in Hex

  I have an 8 digit hexadecimal number of which I need certain digits to be either 0 or f. Given the specific place of the digits is there a quick way to generate the hex number with those places "flipped" to f. For example: flip_digits(1) = 0x000000f flip_digits(1,2,4) = 0x0000f0ff flip_digits(1,7,8) = 0xff00000f I'm doing this on an embedded device so I can't call any math libraries, I suspect it can be done with just bit shifts but I can't quite figure out the method. • Fast exchange of data between unmanaged code and managed code

  Hello: Without using p/invoke, from a C++/CLI I have succeeded in integrating various methods of a DLL library from a third party built in C. One of these methods retrieves information from a database and stores it in different structures. The C++/CLI program I wrote reads those structures and stores them in a List<, which is then returned to the corresponding reading and use of an application programmed completely in C#. I understand that the double handling of data (first, filling in several structures and then, filling all of these structures into a list<) may generate an unnecessary overload, at which point I wish C++/CLI had the keyword "yield". Depending on the above scenario, do you have recommendations to avoid or reduce this overload? Thanks.

• How to retrieve column total when rows are paginated?

  Hey guys I have a column "price" in a table and I used a pagination script to generate the data displayed. Now the pagination is working perfectly however I am trying to have a final row in my HTML table to show the total of all the price. So I wrote a script to do just that with a foreach loop and it sort of works where it does give me the total of all the price summed up together however it is the sum of all the rows, even the ones that are on following pages. How can I retrieve just the sum of the rows displayed within the pagination? Thank you! Here is the query.. • SQL Script to clear database tables.

  I have a need to take backup of a SQL Server Db with tons of data in it and import into another environment for updating and testing. Since, i am not interested in the data, i just want to recreate the schema on my other server. There is an option called 'Generate Script', but is throwing errors running them on the target server. Curious, if anyone attempted to write a SQL script that would run through all the tables in the db and clear the rows, thereby i could just create the schema backup as .bak file and restore it into another server.

To make it hard to guess the next user's session these session-ids need to be sparse and somewhat random. The also have to be unique. The question is - how to efficiently generate session ids that are sparse and unique? This question has a good answer for unique random numbers, but it seems not scalable for a large range of numbers, simply because the array will end up taking a lot of memory.

  I've just started using a VS2010 database project to manage the release of an update to an existing database. I want the deployment option to generate a script that will contain the commands to change my existing database rather than create an entirely new one. E.g I have 10 existing tables - one of which I drop in the new version and I create some new sprocs. I only want the deploy to script the Drop table and Create Procedure commands.
