  • Java Data Structure

    Hi there, I'm looking for a data structure that will act like a Queue so that I can hava First In First Out behaviour, but ideally I would also be able to see if an element exists in that Queue in constant time as you can do with a HashMap, rather than the linear time that you get with a LinkedList. I thought a LinkedHashMap might do the job, but although I could make an iterator and just take and then remove the first element of the iteration to produce a sort of poll() method, I'm wondering if there is a better way.   • HibernateFilter.doFilter ServletException?

    I have pretty much zero experience setting up servers, but currently my job is to set one up (don't ask why). It's an an apache-tomcat6 server. I followed some instructions step by step, and when it came time to test that everything was working, here's what I got: I know this is a bit of a shot in the dark, but does anyone know what I can do to fix this?   • Eclipse Package Explorer Zoom?

    Configuring Eclipse to look exactly how you want is a tough job I've found, therefore I'm not going to attempt to do this myself. I'd like to 'zoom out' of the Package Explorer side bar? You see, I like only having my code on the screen with a small section for the files in the project - however I can never see the full path of the file or package I'm currently in because of this. Is there a way to keep the 'main screen' normal, but zoom out of the Package Explorer by about 50%?

  • tomcat vs FULL J2EE Solutions

    We are getting ready to make a major revision in our Web Application architecture which currently is running on JBoss 4.2. At first we were looking at moving from 4.2 to JBoss 6 but after some research tomcat may be a better solution for us. My first question is their anything that JBoss can do that tomcat cannot do assuming you are using the correct plugins. We do not really use EJB's in our solution and it would appear there are simple plugins for web services, JMX and other features. Tomcat appears to have much better support, faster upgrade cycles and many, many books. Since there is less to the system it also seems much easier to support from an admin point of view. What am I missing? The main features we want to enable are better clustering support and session replication / persistence. We will consider other application servers as well such as Glassfish / Geronimo. quote form a web article: Apache Tomcat is the world’s most widely used web application server, with over one million downloads per month and over 70% penetration in the enterprise datacenter.     I have de-normalized table, something like CODES ID | VALUE 10 | A,B,C 11 | A,B 12 | A,B,C,D,E,F 13 | R,T,D,W,W,W,W,W,S,S The job is to convert is where each token from VALUE will generate new record. Example: CODES_TRANS ID | VALUE_TRANS 10 | A 10 | B 10 | C 11 | A 11 | B What is the best way to do it in PL/SQL without usage of custom pl/sql packages, ideally with pure SQL? Obvious solution is to implement it via cursors. Any ideas?

My site has a Table Tags (contain key word,id) and also 4 types of data related to this tags table like(articles,resources,jobs,...). The big question is:- for the relation with tags what best solution for optimazaion & query speed? make a table for each relation like: table articlesToTags(ArticleID,TagID) table jobsToTags(jobid,tagid) etc. or put it all in one table like table tagsrelation(tagid,itemid,itemtype) I need your help.   • Jenkins and Visual Studio Online integration authentication

    right now I am trying to Setup Continuouse Integration - Delivery for a basic WCF Service, which will be hosted on a Microsoft Azure VM. The Project is Version Controlled through Visual Studio Online. So I installed Jenkins (also on the Azure VM), TFS plugin etc. and started the first Test Build: As Server URL I used "[VSO Adress]/DefaultCollection" and for Login purposes my Microsoft Account (I can Access VSO with that). The Problem is, when I run the Build I get the following error: Started by user Developer Building in workspace C:\Program Files (x86)\Jenkins\jobs\test\workspace [workspace] $ "C:\Program Files (x86)\TEE-CLC-11.0.0.1306\TEE-CLC-11.0.0\tf.cmd" workspaces -format:brief -server:[VSO Adress]/DefaultCollection ****" An error occurred: Access denied connecting to TFS server [VSO Adress] (authenticating as har****@*******o.com) FATAL: Executable returned an unexpected result code [100] ERROR: null Finished: FAILURE So my question is, whether it is generally possible to connect Jenkins and VSO that way and if so, which login credentials are needed

    I have a ASP.NET application I've inherited from the person who did my job previously, when I try to debug the program I get the error below. "A project with an output type of class librart cannot be started directly" I'm familiar with desktop programs but I'm new to working with ASP.NET, the code is easy enough to understand but I can't get my head around how to successfully debug it.   • How can you set a time limit for a PowerShell script to run for?

    I want to set a time limit on a PowerShell (v2) script so it forcibly exits after that time limit has expired. I see in PHP they have commands like set_time_limit and max_execution_time where you can limit how long the script and even a function can execute for. With my script, a do/while loop that is looking at the time isn't appropriate as I am calling an external code library that can just hang for a long time. I want to limit a block of code and only allow it to run for x seconds, after which I will terminate that code block and return a response to the user that the script timed out. I have looked at background jobs but they operate in a different thread so won't have kill rights over the parent thread. Has anyone dealt with this or have a solution? Thanks!

  • How do you fix "Too many open files" problem in Hudson?

    We use Hudson as a continuous integration system to execute automated builds (nightly and based on CVS polling) of a lot of our projects. Some projects poll CVS every 15 minutes, some others poll every 5 minutes and some poll every hour. Every few weeks we'll get a build that fails with the following output: FATAL: java.io.IOException: Too many open files java.io.IOException: java.io.IOException: Too many open files at java.lang.UNIXProcess.<init>(UNIXProcess.java:148) The next build always worked (with 0 changes) so we always chalked it up to 2 build jobs being run at the same time and happening to have too many files open during the process. This weekend we had a build fail Friday night (automatic nightly build) with the message and every other nightly build also failed. Somehow this triggered Hudson to continuously build every project which failed until the issue was resolved. This resulted in a build every 30 minutes or so of every project until sometime Saturday night when the issue magically disappeared.

  • What are the differences between enterprise software/architecture patterns and open source software?

    I am mainly a business app developer and I hear terms like CQRS, ServiceBus, SOA, DDD, BDD, AOP a lot. My question is that do these patterns/practices exist only in the "enterprise" world? In contract to the enterprise world is the open source community. Highly trafficked sites like Digg, LiveJournal whenever there is an article mentioning about how they built/scaled their sites all I am hearing is what open source software (Memcached, NoSQL) they used in order to scale/simplify the way they tackle software problems and they rarely mention those above terms. Is it because they are not as sophisticated as those of enterprise level software (I doubt it)? Or are people just making up those terms/practices/patterns in order to keep them jobs? Or am I confusing myself with differences between software development and internet website scaling?

    Does going to a less famous University that might not be terribly selective necessarily preclude someone from being considered from the elite software companies, i.e. Google or Microsoft regardless of my actual abilities?
