• protecting non .aspx pages with Asp.net Membership provider

  I'm currently using the asp.net membership provider (with logins stored in db) to protect certain pages of my site. However, I also have non .aspx resources I wish to protect - word docs, excel spreadsheets, pdfs, etc. Is this even possible? If so how would I go about doing this? thanks!

  the question is rather simple but I couldn't find a precise answer: in a myisam db, what happens if a php file locks a table (with an atomic operation, say an INSERT) and another php file tries to access the same table (reading or writing)? Now, while it is obvious that the second session will not be able to access the table, what exactly happens? Does it return some kind of error? Does is wait in queue until it is able to access it? Id like to know how can I receive a request with nginx (or any other static file server), and send it to different web servers depending on IP's location. I mean, what is the point on having multiple db machines on country A and B, if the server that serves you the page is chosen by round robin.   Hi all, I have a blog (of a friend) I am failing to fix: http://www.nivcalderon.com/ The language of the website is Hebrew, but the encoding scrambles the output, and I can't find how to fix it. I tried changing the DB colliation to be utf8_general_ci. I added this: define('DB_COLLATE', 'utf8_general_ci'); To the wp-config (and also this: define('DB_CHARSET', 'utf8'); But removed it later, since it didn't seem to fix the problem) Any ideas of what else to do ?
