• Regular Expression to replace part of URL in XML file

  I need a regular expression in Notepad++ to search/replace a string. My document (xml) has serveral thousand lines that look similar to this: <Url Source="Output/username/project/Content/Volume1VolumeName/TopicFileName.htm" /> I need to replace everything starting from Volume1 to .htm" / to replaced with X's or some other character to mask the actual file names in this file. So the resulting string would look like this after the search/replace was performed: <Url Source="Output/username/project/Content/Volume1XxxxxxXxxx/XxxxxXxxxXxxx.htm" /> I am working with confidential information that I cannot release to people outside of my company, but i need to send an example log file to a 3rd party for troubleshooting purposes. FYI the X's do not need to follow the upper/lower case after the replacement, i was just using different case X's for the hell of it :)

• A good log file analyzer for windows

  Is there a text-editor for windows that can open for me first n lines of a large file? It would be nice if it could also open a set of lines from the middle of the file. EDIT: Basically my requirement is that I want to analyze huge(2GB) log files. So any good tool that can open huge files with some analysis capabilities(searching, text highlighting etc.) would be nice. I like notepad++ but it wouldn't open a file even of about 650 MB. P.S. - Open source tools will be preferred.

• .gitignore, hidden file

  I have some problems with the hidden files. I can see a file in cmd (it is a .gitignore file), but I cannot see it when I open it normally in a folder. I have changed alredy an option to see all hidden files. And I cannot see it as well in a git command prompt. What should I do to be able to see it? Thanks. PS. I can see it normally in a folder BUT it has no name. When I click on this file's settings it shows me: Datatype: Textdocument(.gitignore) Is it normal`?

• Du Meter Log file

  Where can I find the Du Meter Log file? I tried searching C:\ProgramData\Hagel Technologies\DU Meter but the folder is empty. I also tried C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming and Local and LocalLow but none of them even have a Du Meter or Hagel Technologies folder. I even tried searching the temp folder but still nothing. I have a NetMeter.csv log file that I want to try and replace over the Du Meter log file cause I can't seem to find any other way to import data into Du Meter.

  Trying to install MySQL onto the Windows XP machine. While going through the installation steps (in the "MySQL Server Instance Config. Wizard"), I get to a point where it the window reads: MySQL Server Instance Configuration (bold header) Choose the configuration for the server instance. Ready to execute... o Prepare configuration o Write configuration file o Start service o Apply security settings (this line is greyed out) Please press [Execute] to start the configuration. [ Back ] [ Execute ] [ Cancel ] So I press execute, and then a red X appears in the second step: Write configuration file and at the bottom, where it originally said: Please press [Execute] to start the configuration. It now says: The template configuration file cannot be found at C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0\bin\my-template.cnf I'm unsure what it means, but I canceled the config wizard and looked in the directory that had been created (C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.0). • PHP: Do we have any command via which we can delete the contents of an file without opening it.

  Is there any way to remove the contents of an file in php, do we have any php command that does that, I know unlink but I do not want to delete the file instead I just want to remove the contents of that file. I have an file which I pass while called a getCurrentDBSnap function, it takes in the file from /home/test/incoming folder and populates currentDB table state into the file using fputcsv and puts back file to /home/test/outgoing. Currently file stays in incoming folder and when I can call the function getCurrentDBSnap it would take the file and override with latest state of DB into it. Q: My question is, is it possible instead of overwriting the file, we can remove the content of file after ever getCurrentDBSnap such that file in incoming folder would be always empty ? Hope it makes sense :)

I've been contemplating writing a simple "event log" that takes a paramater list and stores event messages in a log file, trouble is, I forsee this file growing to be rather large (assume 1M entries or more) the question is, how can I implement this system without pulling teeth, I know that SQL would be a possible way to go. XML would be ideal but not really practical for scaleability if i'm not going nuts. • Linux web server shared hosting file errors

  I'm using a shared hosting to host my website and have some problems with files from time to time. First, one of my file (php) was missing a part of code (nothing to do with hackers just a random piece of code was missing), then after some time a value inside a mysql table was also missing a part, then a whole table column disappeared, after that a whole file on my site disappeared and lastly again some code from a file disappeared, my hosting service says it has nothing to do with them, but this is stupid, how can this happen, no hacker attack could do such a thing, I believe it's some kind of a disk corruption or bad backup. Anyone have any ideas?

• Do we need seperate file path for window and linux in java

  I have a file on linux ubuntu server hosted with path name /home/kishor/project/detail/. When I made a web app in window to upload and download file from specified location i used path "c:\kishor\projects\detail\" for saving in window. For my surprise when i used window file path name in my server i am still able to get files and upload them, i.e, "c:\kishor\projects\detail\". Can anyone explain why it is working (as window and linux both use different file path pattern).

• I can't delete a file - even when using unlocker

  So I have a 64 bit windows 7 ultimate computer. On my desktop, I have a .iso file that should NOT be used by anything. However, when I use lockhunter (unlocker doesn't work for me), it says it can't unlock or delete it. When I check what it's being used by, it says by the system. I've also tried eraser erase on startup, but that doesn't work, either. How can I remove this file?

• Excluding certain file types in wget

  I have been using wget for a while now to mirror files from an ftp server to a local folder. My wget command is as follows: wget -mirror -w 1 -p -nH -P /var/www/ ftp://my-ftp-server However, I just noticed that it is copying over a .listing file for every folder that it visits. So, even if nothing has been changed on the ftp server, a .listing file will always be copied. My understanding is that the .listing file is created when wget opens the ftp session. Is there a way to avoid this? I've tried the -R option (e.g. -R .listing) but this didn't help. I tried RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www\.(.*) RewriteRule (.*) http://%1/$1 [R=301,L] but that will do it for EVERY domain. I only want the domains that are in the mappings file to redirect, and then continue on to other rewrites if it doesn't match any domains in the mappings file.

• Access Creates new file every time I Compact & Repair

  It didn't always do this, but ever since I split my database and made the front-end an ACCDE file, any time I try to compact and repair either file, a new file called "Database 1" is generated and my original file size doesn't change. Is this normal? My ACCDB is roughly 20MB, and my ACCDE is just over 1M after being used the first time. Before opening, the ACCDE was only 600k (I have lots of forms and queries, and regularly store PDF attachments.

  I am using html, tag: <input type = "file" /> On android and on many cellulars I have the ability to get the file directly by taking a picture and save it. How can I know (by javascript code) how did I get the picture (direcly by the camera, or by some files that on my cellular)? I did some workarround, and found exif (http://www.nihilogic.dk/labs/exif/exif.js), but I didn't succeed using it, either I don't know whether exif is the right solution. Thanks :)

  I'm trying to use a cURL command to download a file from an FTP server to a local drive on my computer. I've tried curl "ftp://myftpsite" --user name:password -Q "CWD /users/myfolder/" -O "myfile.raw" But it returns an error that says: curl: Remote file name has no length! curl: try 'curl --help' or 'curl --manual' for more information curl: (6) Could not resolve host: myfile.raw; No data record of requested type I've tried some other methods, but nothing seems to work. Also, I'm not quite sure how to specify which folder I want the file to be downloaded to. How would I do that?

  Hi, I am trying to encrypt Configuration Information Using Protected Configuration in Visual Studio 2010. I have the following info speicifed in the App.Config file: <connectionStrings configProtectionProvider="TheProviderName"> <EncryptedData> <CipherData> <CipherValue>VALUE GOES HERE</CipherValue> </CipherData> </EncryptedData> </connectionStrings> <appSettings configProtectionProvider="TheProviderName"> <EncryptedData> <CipherData> <CipherValue>VALUE GOES HERE</CipherValue> </CipherData> </EncryptedData> </appSettings> However, when I then go to the Settings area of the Projects Properties to view the settings in the Designer, I get prompted with the following error "An error occured while reading the App.config file. The file might be corrupted or contain invalid XML." I understand that my changes are causing the error, however, is there anyway I can bypass that the information is not read into at design view? (Of course the best way would be to make the tags be recognized by the designer, is there any way to do this?) I tried adding <connectionStrings configProtectionProvider="TheProviderName" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/.NetConfiguration/v2.0"> to connectionStrings as well as to the appSettings, but with no luck, the intellisense is bypassed in the config file, but the designer still complains. I would be satisfied if the designer would not complain about this "error", which is not actually an error because Microsoft states here that it should work. ASP.NET 2.0 provides a new feature, called protected configuration, that enables you to encrypt sensitive information in a configuration file. Although primarily designed for ASP.NET, protected configuration can also be used to encrypt configuration file sections in Windows applications. For a detailed description of the new protected configuration capabilities, see Encrypting Configuration Information Using Protected Configuration. And yes, it does work to encrypt it and to decrypt it and use it, it is just very annoying and frustrating that the designer complains about it. Anyone who knows which xsd file that is used (if used) to verify the contents of the App.config file in the design view? Any help appreciated.
