• Access a content control in C# when using Master Pages

  Good day everyone, I am building a page in ASP.NET, and using Master Pages in the process. I have a Content Place Holder name "cphBody" in my Master Page, which will contain the body of each Page for which that Master Page is the Master Page. In the ASP.NET Web page, I have a Content tag (referencing "cphBody") which also contains some controls (buttons, Infragistics controls, etc.), and I want to access these controls in the CodeBehind file. However, I can't do that directly (this.myControl ...), since they are nested in the Content tag. I found a workaround with the FindControl method. ContentPlaceHolder contentPlaceHolder = (ContentPlaceHolder) Master.FindControl("cphBody"); ControlType myControl = (ControlType) contentPlaceHolder.FindControl("ControlName"); That works just fine. However, I am suspecting that it's not a very good design. Do you guys know a more elegant way to do so? Thank you! Guillaume Gervais.

  I need the very last valid entry in a database table which would be the row with the greatest primary key. So using mysqli, my query is "SELECT MAX(id) FROM table LIMIT 1". This query returns the correct number(using print_r()) but I cannot figure out how to access it. Here is the main code. • Row Source - combo box, filtering what pops up in a combo box by date

  so I have a combo box that I want to pop up when somebody wants to search by year. It will allow them to see in that combo box only results that happened in a certain year. so far I have something like SELECT DISTINCT Database_New.ASEC FROM Database_New WHERE (((Database_New.Date) >= DateValue('01/01/2001') AND (((Database_New.Date) <= DateValue('12/031/2001'))); or SELECT DISTINCT Database_New.ASEC FROM Database_New WHERE (((Database_New.Date) >= BETWEEN DateValue('01/01/2001') AND DateValue('12/31/2001’))); as you can see, the kicker is that I am already sorting the thing with SELECT DISTINCT under the ASEC field. But I want to filter it one more by year so a whole bunch of ASEC values that didnt happen in that year (and there are quite a few that happen rarely, or would onyl be associeted with one year) do not pop up as avalible. so far I get an error like "Syntax error in query expression '(((Database_New.Date) = DateValue('01/01/2001') AND (((Database_New.Date) <= DateValue('12/031/2001')))' and I am a VBA person, not quite as good at debuggin SQL. Is it something easy? or will it simply not work the way I have it set up.

Occasionally, I'm using the stack trace to get a more detailed error reporting logs from the deployed applications; can this functionality be achieved without relying to those files? Also, how much hints of the original source code does these files contain? Would it be easier to reverse-engineer my application using it?

  OK, so say I have a table with 500K rows, then I ad-hoc query with unsupported indexing which requires a full table scan. I would like to immediately view the first rows returned while the full table scan continues. Then I want to scroll thru the next results. In the meantime, I would like to display the progress of the table scan, example: "SEARCHING.. FOUND 23 OF 500,000 ROWS SO FAR". If I scroll too far ahead, I want to display a message like: "REACHED LAST ROW IN LOOK-AHEAD BUFFER.. QUERY HAS NOT COMPLETED".. Can this be done? Maybe like: spawn/exec, declare scroll cursor, open, fetch, etc.?

• i cant ping to my DMZ zone from the local inside PC

  HI everybody. Can anyone please help me on the following issue. I got a Cisco Asa 5520 configured at my network. I cant ping to my DMZ interface from a local inside network PC. so the only way a ping the DMZ is right from the Cisco ASA firewall, there i can pint to all 3 interfaces, Inside, Outside and DMZ,,,, But no PC from the Inside Network can access the DMZ. Can please any one help? I don't want to use options/choices because in that case user will have to enter at least something which I need to check and set the action. • Access MP3 audio data independently of ID3 tags?

  Hi, this is a 2 part question. First off, is it possible to access the audio data in an MP3 independently of the ID3 tags, and secondly, is there any way to do so using available libraries? I recently consolidated my music collection from 3 computers and ended up with songs which had changed ID3 tags, but the audio data itself was unmodified. Running a search for duplicate files failed because the file changed with the ID3 tag change, but I think it should be possible to identify duplicate files if I just run a deduplication using the audio data for comparison. I know that it's possible to seek to a particular position past the ID3 header in the file, and directly read the data, but was wondering if there's a library that would expose the audio data so I could just extract the data, run a checksum on it, and store the computed result somewhere, then look for identical checksums. (Also, I'd probably have to use some kind of library when you take into account variable length headers.)

It is the same everywhere, but I get an error when I try to get SO_UID with the return values... SO_UID is not necessarely given like '7C7035C8-56DD-4A44-93CC-F16FD66280A3' here, so I can't just add it manually as string.

Eliminate any rows that is NOT duplicate (not everybody in this file has been admitted again) and compare the dates to get the ReAdmitdate and ReDischargedate I dumped the data into a SQL table and trying to compare the dates to figure out "ReAdmitdate" and "ReDischargedate" any help is appreciated. • compiling a program to run in DOS mode

  I write a simple program, to run in DOS mode. Everything works under emulated console in Win XP / Vista / Seven, but not in DOS. The error says: this program caonnot be run in DOS mode. I wonder is that a problem with compiler flags or something bigger. For programming i use Code::Blocks v 8.02 with such settings for compilation: -Wall -W -pedantic -pedantic-errors in Project \ Build options \ Compiler settings I've tried a clean DOS mode, booting from cd, and also setting up DOS in Virtual Machine. The same error appears. Should i turn on some more compiler flags ? Some specific 386 / 486 optimizations ? UPDATE Ok, i've downloaded, installed and configured DJGPP. Even resolved some problems with libs and includes. Still have two questions. 1) i can't compile a code, which calls _strdate and _strtime, i've double checked the includes, as MSDN says it needs time.h, but still error says: _strdate was not declared in this scope, i even tried to add std::_strdate, but then i have 4, not 2 errors sazing the same 2) the 2nd code is about gotoxy, it looks like that: #include <windows.h> void gotoxy(int x, int y) { COORD position; position.X = x; position.Y = y; SetConsoleCursorPosition(GetStdHandle(STD_OUTPUT_HANDLE), position); } error says there is no windows.h, so i've put it in place, but then there are many more errors saying some is missing from windows.h, I SUPPOSE it won't work because this functions is strictly for windows right ? is there any way to write similar gotoxy for DOS ?   I'm going to use C# to read data from a few webservices. I've done that many times before, but those times I've had direct access to the webservices from my development machine. In this project I've just been sent a .wsdl file, and a couple of .xsd files for the webservice they have in their local intranet. I've seen that I can use "Add Web Reference", and point directly to the .wsdl file, so that a C# class is created. But how can I really test it? I'd like to return some dummy data that I can visualize while I develop. Any tips for this situation?

  Some time ago I posted about a question about reading Excel files as a server process, to get around the tighter restrictions Microsoft have been applying on Office Automation. I now need to extend this, by finding methods/libraries to read other sorts of Office files in an automated way on a server. The applications I'm interested in are Word, Powerpoint, Project and to a lesser extent Word and Visio. I need to be able to support 97-2003 office files, and the newer open xml formats (e.g. xlsx, docx) at a very least. With regards to Word integration, I also need to be able to handle writing/reading RTF text. If anyone has any suggestions I'd be pleased to hear them. Thanks

  Is there a way in which I can programmatically access the document properties of a Word 2007 document? I am open to using any language for this, but ideally it might be via a PowerShell script. My overall aim is to traverse the documents somewhere on a filesystem, parse some document properties from these documents, and then collate all of these properties back together into a new Word document. (I essentially want to automatically create a document which is a list of all documents beneath a certain folder of the filesystem; and this list would contain such things as the Title, Abstract and Author document properties; the CreateDate field; etc. for each document)

  Hi, Is it possible to overload the array/dict access operators in VB.net? For example, you can state something like: Dim mydict As New Hashtable() mydict.add("Cool guy", "Overloading is dangerous!") mydict("Cool guy") = "Overloading is cool!" And that works just fine. But what I would like to do is be able to say: mydict("Cool guy") = "3" and then have 3 automagically converted to the Integer 3. I mean, sure I can have a private member mydict.coolguy and have setCoolguy() and getCoolguy() methods, but I would prefer to be able to write it the former way if at all possible. Thanks

What else could it be?

• Access Samba Drive over SSH

  Hello, I am trying to access a samba drive over ssh. I have a windows machine with a samba drive to connect to my linux vm drive, I also run cygwin on the windows machine. What I am trying to do is from my linux vm ssh into the windows cygwin side and cd into the samba drive which connects back into my linux directory. When I am in cygwin I can see the drive as drive Z: but when I ssh into cygwin the Z: drive doesn't show up. Can anyone offer suggestions on how to get this working? Thanks

• Addressing "Access Denied" Exception with WMI Calls

  I'm getting an exception with a message of "Access Denied" when executing against a WMI request. Some WMI requests appear to require higher security privileges than others. Ultimately my goal is to monitor process launches within the system and log. Regardless if there is a better approach, its now become a vendetta in getting this WMI approach to work. I've attempted the code at Security Tools - WMI Programming Using C#.Net and still receive the exception. If you copy the code found in the blog entry you can reproduce my issue. Another post on a similar topic can be found at link text but again, try the code and you'll the see the same security exception. How do I permit my code to execute these WMI requests? I'm running on Windows 7 Pro and VS 2010 in a new C# command line project.

  Hi Guys, I have a stock table and I would like to create a report that will show how often were items ordered. "stock" table: item_id | pcs | operation apples | 100 | order oranges | 50 | order apples | -100 | delivery pears | 100 | order oranges | -40 | delivery apples | 50 | order apples | 50 | delivery Basically I need to join these two queries together. A query which prints stock balances: SELECT stock.item_id, Sum(stock.pcs) AS stock_balance FROM stock GROUP BY stock.item_id; A query which prints sales statistics SELECT stock.item_id, Sum(stock.pcs) AS pcs_ordered, Count(stock.item_id) AS number_of_orders FROM stock GROUP BY stock.item_id, stock.operation HAVING stock.operation="order"; I think that some sort of JOIN would do the job but I have no idea how to glue queries together. Desired output: item_id | stock_balance | pcs_ordered | number_of_orders apples | 0 | 150 | 2 oranges | 10 | 50 | 1 pears | 100 | 100 | 1 This is just example. Maybe, I will need to add more conditions because there is more columns. Is there a universal technique of combining multiple queries together?
