    If I would like to have several static methods in my models so I can say User::get_registered_users() and have it do something like public static function get_registered_users() { $sql = "SELECT * FROM `users` WHERE `is_registered` = 0"; $this->db->query($sql); // etc... } Is it possible to access the $this->db object or create a new one for a static method?

  • How can I configure apigee to fail stale if the backend is unavialble?

    We have an API proxy configured with cache ttl of 2mins. Is it possible to configure apigee to serve stale cached content if the backend goes down so that our end users don't see errors? We would rather have our end users get copies of stale cached content (even after the configured ttl of 2mins expires) instead of errors when the backend goes down. Would appreciate if someone could point me to the relevant documentation if this is possible.

    I am unable to access certain websites from my PC viz. google.com, gmail.com , stackoverflow.com, etc. However, I am able to access facebook.com, twitter.com, infoq.com etc. Currently I am accessing Google via proxy server. I suspect that the problem might exist with websites that have used ASP for scripting. Please suggest a solution to the problem that I am facing.

  • Anyone using RailRoad diagrams generator?

    I recently installed RailRoad gem to generate an .svg diagram of my app's models and controllers. The rake task keeps breaking with a similar error: 1.8/usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activesupport-1.4.4/lib/active_support/dependencies.rb:263:in `load_missing_constant': uninitialized constant I tried the rake task on 2 seperate apps and the error keeps appearing with a different "constant" name. Anyone using it with similar problems?

  • Paperclip not running tasks but not showing errors

    This is strange. I just did a deploy to a cluster server, and since then, pictures have not been processing. Reading the logs, I usually do not get an error at all, but they never finish. However, on one particular image, I found this little bit at least, but this might not explain everything.. Any ideas?   • How do I set bash environment variables from a script?

    I have some proxy settings that I only occasionally want to turn on, so I don't want to put them in my ~/.bash_profile. I tried putting them directly in ~/bin/set_proxy_env.sh, adding ~/bin to my PATH, and chmod +xing the script but though the script runs, the variables don't stick in my shell. Does anyone know how to get them to stick around for the rest of the shell session?

  • Copy values from one object to another.

    Anyone have a suggestion for a good utility class that maps values from one object to another? I want a utility class that uses reflection and takes two objects and copies values from the 1st object to the second if there is a public property with the same name. I have two entities that are generated from a web service proxy, so I can't change the parent class or impliment an interface or anything like that. But I know that the two objects have the same public properties.

    I recently updated one of my models by adding a db.ListProperty(): class DependencyArcTail(db.Model): courses = db.ListProperty(db.Key) ''' newly added ''' forwardLinks = db.ListProperty(db.Key) However, I can't seem to get this to be reflected in the SDK dashboard. I cleared the datastore and reloaded it. Then I ran the procedures that create the DependencyArcTail objects. However, forwardLinks still doesn't show up as an attribute in the SDK dashboard. What's happening?

  • LInux C++: how do profile time wasted due to cache misses?

    I know that I can use gprof to benchmark my code. However, I have this problem -- I have a smart pointer that has an extra level of indirection (think of it as a proxy object). As a result, I have this extra layer that effects pretty much all functions, and screws with caching. Is there a way to measure the time my CPU wastes due to cache misses? Thanks!

In my controller I have code like this: @items = Item.find(:all) I need to have a corresponding User models for each item in my View templates. it works in controller(but not in View template): @items.each { |item| item.user } But manual looping just to build associations for View template kinda smells. How can I do this not in a creepy way?

  • When an active_record is saved, is it saved before or after its associated object(s)?

    In rails, when saving an active_record object, its associated objects will be saved as well. But has_one and has_many association have different order in saving objects. I have three simplified models: class Team < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :players has_one :coach end class Player < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :team validates_presence_of :team_id end class Coach < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :team validates_presence_of :team_id end I use the following code to test these models: t = Team.new team.coach = Coach.new team.save! team.save! returns true. But in another test: t = Team.new team.players << Player.new team.save! team.save! gives the following error: > ActiveRecord::RecordInvalid: > Validation failed: Players is invalid I figured out that when team.save! is called, it first calls player.save!. player needs to validate the presence of the id of the associated team. But at the time player.save! is called, team hasn't been saved yet, and therefore, team_id doesn't yet exist for player. This fails the player's validation, so the error occurs. But on the other hand, team is saved before coach.save!, otherwise the first example will get the same error as the second one. So I've concluded that when a has_many bs, a.save! will save bs prior to a. When a has_one b, a.save! will save a prior to b. If I am right, why is this the case? It doesn't seem logical to me. Why do has_one and has_many association have different order in saving? Any ideas? And is there any way I can change the order? Say I want to have the same saving order for both has_one and has_many. Thanks.

    I have three models, user, achievement, badge and I plan on using has_many :through instead of has_many_and_belongs_to since I will have a few extra fields in the join tables. According to a Railscast I watched, using this method requires coming up with new model names and not user_badge or user_achievement. For my User Achievement join what do you think of Accomplishment? For my User Badge join what do you think of Distinction?

  • What can be inside a class that derive from OmniAuth?

    I have the following class class Identity < OmniAuth:: Identity:: Models:: ActiveRecord attr_accessible :email, :name, :password_digest, :password, :password_confirmation end I wonder if the above properties are the only ones allowed for a class that derive from a OmniAuth. I wish I could add some more like FirstName, LastName, age, gender, and so on. Do I need to create an other model for those properties or can I just add them to the Identity model?     Hi all, I'm not very familiar with the many-to-many insertion process using Entity Framework 4, POCO. I have a blog with 3 tables: Post, Comment, and Tag. A Post can have many Tags and a Tag can be in many Posts. I'm thinking that I'll have a textbox where I can select multiple tags for that post (this part is already done), in my controller, I will check to see if the tag is already exists or not, if not, then I will insert the new tag. But I'm not even sure based on the models that I've created for EF, will they create a PostsTags table, or they are creating just a Tags and a Posts table and links between the two? How would I insert the new Post and set the tags to that post? Is it just newPost.Tags = Tags (where Tags are the one that got selected, do I even need to check to see if they already exists?), and then something like _post.Add(newPost);? Thanks.

    I'm trying to extend a Java Swing component in Clojure, i.e. I want to extend a javax.swing.JComponent and add some custom methods implemented in pure Clojure in addition to all the standard inherited methods. I've tried using "proxy" which works great if I just want a single instance (in the same way as an anonymous inner class). However I'd really like a named class so that I can generate an arbitrary number of instances. What's the recommended way of doing this?

When the user enters their details in, and clicks submit, if validation fails and it returns them to the same view passing back in the view model, it won't default the password to what they entered. So how do you implement many hasOne relationships in a single model? I assume the answer is in the cookbook, Im going over that area now, I suspect it has something to do with passing an array to $hasOne, but no example of doing this.

    i have a separate class for each of my database entities and when i create an object of my class to reference the properties of a class it returns a circular reference which contains properties of other entities too that are related via FK ... to remove the circular reference i want to first make a copy of the object through "context proxy object" copy and then get the primitive, complex, arrayEnumerable types of that object and strip off these types from the object and then the object get returned by web service....
