  • Web page looks good in FF but every other browser hates it

    I am trying to make my own website and it was comming along quite nicely. It looked beautiful in firefox when opened and worked wonderfully. But then I run it in any other browser... and it screwes up... how can I fix this? IE especially hates it =[ you just gota see it to know what I'm talking about so here is the link http://opentech.durhamcollege.ca/~intn2201/brittains/chatter/ please give solutions that don't involve javascript.     I'm having trouble checking in PHP if a value is is any of the following combinations letters (upper or lowercase) numbers (0-9) underscore (_) dash (-) point (.) no spaces! or other characters a few examples: OK: "screen123.css" OK: "screen-new-file.css" OK: "screen_new.js" NOT OK: "screen new file.css" I guess I need a regex for this, since I need to throw an error when a give string has other characters in it than the ones mentioned above.

But would like to know for sure. Also curious, if it is safe to build application with such declarations using Android 2.2 SDK, and run it on 1.5.

    I am trying to build a CMS using ERB. Is there a way you can give ERB code read-only access to your models? For instance, I want to be able to load any information on my models (Model.all, Model.find_by_slug, Model.find_by_name, Model.other_model.name, etc...), but I don't want to be able to change this data. Can you disable ERB from executing commands that would make database changes (Model.save, Model.update, Model.delete, Model.destroy, etc.)???

  • Accessing curl executable from Program files?

    I have built an application which uses user executable through WScript com object. Now the main program is located in C:\Program files\Myapp Curl executable is located in C:\Curl But it looks like my application is unable to execute curl if main application is in Program files. If i move it to another location it can execute curl nicely. Problem occurs only on Windows Xp on Vista and Win7 it works perfectly. Is there any special permissions i have to give to my app or what?

  • Function that converts hex color values to an approximate color name?

    I don't suppose anyone knows of a function (PHP, preferably) that can take a hex color code and give an approximate color name for that hex value. I don't need a solution with 100s of colors. Even if it just amounted to the colors white, black, red, green blue, brown orange and yellow, I'd be pretty well in shape. If you don't know of an existing resource, does anyone know of a good way to approach this problem? Thanks in advance for the help.

    For class, I was told to give a function point count for Mozilla Thunderbird, however I am absolutely stumped as to how to approach this. Some methods I saw online suggested analyzing the interface of the program itself, however they used very simple methods. Thunderbird has a very complex interface and has so many FPs, I'm not sure if I could do it by hand. Some help would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

    Often, but not always, the first few clicks on the "Allow" button on the Flash camera permissions dialog are ignored. This is very frustrating for users. And for me, when I'm testing code! I'm afraid I don't really know what else to say about the problem to give more insight. My hunch is that it has something to do with getting focus on the embed element, but that is merely a guess.     Because IE won't do document.getElementById(ID).setAttribute('type','password') I've re-engineered the way the password field woirks on this site: http://devdae.dialanexchange.com/Default.aspx so it works in accordance with this idea: http://www.folksonomy.org/2009/01/12/changing-input-type-from-text-to-password-in-internet-explorer-hack/ It works fine in IE8 and FF3. It breaks in IE7 just as you click into the password field. I'm now tearing my hair out. Can anyone give me a clue what's wrong as IE7's diagnosis is just "Object expected, code 0"?
