• DIV menu ontop of <li> on hover

  Hey guys, this is my first time actually posting at stackflow but i've used people's answers before. Really a great site. Anywho onto my problemo. I have some 'li' tags. When I hover the mouse over these 'li's, I need a DIV to appear over the 'li' with some buttons, etc. Basically it's kind of a menu. the 'li's are an unpredictable length, usually somewhere from 1 line to 5. A great example of what I'm trying to accomp is the dribbble.com homepage. Hover over an image (though I'm using 'li's) and a nifty lil info thing comes up. I have absolutely no experience with javascript or jqry, I'm just a PHP guy with some CSS. I do the back-end work. Anywho, can anyone show me how to do this and include a basic example please? Would really really appreciate it. Help?

• XHTML validating block level element as a link

  I need a way to make an entire DL element clickable with only one anchor tag, that validates as XHTML. As in: <a> <dl> <dt>Data term</dt> <dd>Data definition</dd> </dl> </a> This currently doesn't validate as XHTML as the anchor tag cannot contain the DL. The only way I can get it to validate is if I make two anchor tags and place them inside DT and DD. As in: <dl> <dt><a>Data term</a></dt> <dd><a>Data definition</a></dt> </dl> I'm trying to avoid this, as it would result in two href attributes requiring maintenance, introducing the possibility they could become out of sync. Suggestions?

  I've got a bunch of websites that use a few Prototype/Scriptaculous plugins such as lightbox and modalbox, hence include references to these two libraries on various pages. I now need to implement a slideshow on every page, and to follow suit, I need a Prototype cycle or slideshow plugin. The requirements are fairly simple: images should fade-in/out every N seconds four controls: prev, pause, play, next i'd prefer to add images to the slideshow via JavaScript; not by adding too many tags Can any one suggest an existing plugin that can be customized easily and is not bloated like most of the other plugins. • Link to audio in XHTML/EPUB

  I'm looking into synchronizing an ebook in epub format (so the content is in XHTML) to an audio file. I'm thinking of putting something along the lines of: <a class="audiolink" href="sound.ogg?t=1093"></a> into the body of the document, and then have a custom epub reader that recognizes those tags and synchronizes the audio accordingly. That does seem like a bit of a hack to me though, especially the use of a special class name. Does anyone have any pointers to how this may be done in a more standards-compliant manner (or somewhere where it has been done before)? Ebooks with audio annotation seem like an idea that may already be out there.

• ASP.NET MVC 2 relative paths for scripts and styles

  Hi, having this really silly problem in ASP.NET MVC 2 with .NET 4. I need to test other pages using localhost, but sometimes I need to show the page to some else on another computer and so need to path out to my machine. In doing so, I need to use relative paths for my and tags. When I test through VS, I use relative path: <script src="../../Scripts/somejavascript.js"></script> <link href="../../Styles/somestyle.css" /> However, when I publish to local IIS, I'm having all sorts of problems beacuse the Scripts and Styles folder are at the same directory level, but it seems like I have to path out differently. For example, in the scenario above the styles will be picked up but the JavaScript won't be. Any ideas on how best to path out, relatively using MVC 2?

  I have a XHTML string I want to replace tags in for example <span tag="x">FOO</span> <span tag="y"> <b>bar</b> some random text <span>another span</span> </span> I want to be able to find tag="x" and replace FOO with my own content and find tag=y and replace all the inner content with by own content. What is the best way to do this? I am thinking regex is definitely out of the question. Can XPATH do this or is that just for searching can it do manipulation?

• jQuery drag drop slower for more DIV items

  Hi there, I have got a hierarchichal tags (with parent child relationship) in my page and it will account to 500 - 4500 (can even grow). When i bound the draggable and droppable for all i saw very bad performance in IE7 and IE6. The custom helper wont move smoothly and was very very slow. Based on some other post i have made the droppable been bound/unbound on mouseover and mouseout events (dynamically). Its better now. But still i dont see the custom helper move very smoothly there is a gap between the mouse cursor and the helper when they move and gets very bad when i access the site from remote. Please help me to address this performance issue. Am totally stuck here.. :(

• jQuery autocomplete function, how to add support for words not available in the database yet?

  Hi, I'm looking to implement a tag system like how SO uses on their site, where users can specify multiple tag words. However, on top of all the other autocomplete functions available as jquery plugins, I also want to allow users to enter new words not in the database. Does anyone know of any plugin that can do that? Or if there isn't, how one can add that functionality to an existing autocomplete function? • Persist url parameter throughout grails app

  Essentially I am looking to have a url query parameter persist throughout the life of the grails application (POST or GET). ex. http://localhost:8080/demo/controller/action/?myParam=foobar I have tried a couple routes. Dynamic method overriding redirect and customizing application tags for createLink. However, since I also use grails webflows it doesn't quite get every single URL. I also tried using a groovy servlet (groovlet) to capture every URL and append the query parameter. The last attempt hasn't been very successful. Am I missing an obvious component to grails? Am I on the right track? Is there another avenue I haven't explored yet? Thanks in advance

I've read a couple pages that referenced refreshing the DOM after the javascript runs, but I haven't been able to successfully do it (I know enough about javascript to hack things around and get stuff working, but not enough to create whole new things). It is worth noting that Silverlight doesn't work with Internet Explorer 8 or Safari (not sure if it's my code, mejs, or the browsers). • Extending Django-tagging, adding extra field to each tag?

  heya, We're coding together a Django app to handle reviews of newspaper articles. Each newspaper article model will an arbitrary number of tags associated with it. Also, each tag will have an optional ranking (0 to 10). I was thinking of using django-tagging to do this (http://code.google.com/p/django-tagging/), but I'm not sure of the best way to add the ranking to the system. Should I extend django-tagging somehow? (Not sure if this is possible, without changing django-tagging's actual code?). Or is there a better way of achieving this? Cheers, Victor

The problem is that the renderer does not contain data, neither does the widget. And I'd really hate to mess with Field and BoundField. I need this to inject html before/after each radiobutton and I'd like it to be done in the template. From the code it would be easy. Any ideas are welcome.

• Oracle 10g - JAXB unmarshalling is not working as expected

  We're using Oracle 10g application server and deployed the Web service and trying to deploy the web service client. Server is working fine i.e.; marshalling is working fine. We're getting the output from the service properly but the search client is not unmarshalling (parsing) the response received. We're using all the tags under same name space so there is no name space problem. Different collections would exists in the XSD. Has anyone faced similar kind of issue? • Best placement for javascript in Asp.net MVC app that heavily uses partial views

  What is the best place for javascript that is specific to a partial view? For example, if I have a partial view (loaded via ajax call) with some divs and I want to turn those divs into an accordian, would it be better put the $("#section").accordion() in script tags inside of the partial view, or in a .js file in the function that retrieves that partial view and inserts it into the DOM? Obviously, common methods I will be keeping in a .js file, however I am more talking about javascript very specific to the partial view itself. Most things I find on the net seem to say to put all javascript into a separate .js but nothing addresses the idea of partial views.

• How to allow multiple users to manage application running on server?

  I'm not sure if the title makes sense. Hard question to ask. I have an application running on a server under my network account, and it's scheduled to run daily. I can remote in with my user credentials and check on the application. What if I want more than one person to be able to remote in and check it? I can create a new account on the server, but it wouldn't have network rights and the application needs access to network folders. What would be the best approach? Thanks! :-) P.S. • Good error flagging

  For everyone that was thinking of the error_reporting() function, then it isn't, what I need is whenever a MySQL query has been done, and the statement has like if($result) { echo "Yes, it was fine... bla bla"; } else { echo "Obviously, the echo'ing will show in a white page with the text ONLY..."; } Whenever statements have been true or false, I want the error to be appeared when redirected with the header() function and echo the error reporting in a div somewhere on the page. Basically something like this: $error = ''; This part appears inside the div tags <div><?php echo $error; ?></div> So the error part will be echoed when redirected with the header() if($result) { $error = "Yes, it was fine... bla bla"; header("Location: url"); } else { $error = "Something wrong happened..."; header("Location: url"); } But that just doesn't work :(

• python socket.recv/sendall call blocking

  Hi everyone. This post is incorrectly tagged 'send' since I cannot create new tags. I have a very basic question about this simple echo server. Here are some code snippets. client while True: data = raw_input("Enter data: ") mySock.sendall(data) echoedData = mySock.recv(1024) if not echoedData: break print echoedData server while True: print "Waiting for connection" (clientSock, address) = serverSock.accept() print "Entering read loop" while True: print "Waiting for data" data = clientSock.recv(1024) if not data: break clientSock.send(data) clientSock.close() Now this works alright, except when the client sends an empty string (by hitting the return key in response to "enter data: "), in which case I see some deadlock-ish behavior. Now, what exactly happens when the user presses return on the client side? I can only imagine that the sendall call blocks waiting for some data to be added to the send buffer, causing the recv call to block in turn. What's going on here? Thanks for reading!

For formatting a date using date filter you must use the following format : {{ my_date|date:"Y-m-d" }} If you use strftime from the standard datetime, you have to use the following : my_date.strftime("%Y-%m-%d") So my question is ... isn't it ugly (I guess it is because of the % that is used also for tags, and therefore is escaped or something) ? But that's not the main question ... I would like to use the same DATE_FORMAT parametrized in settings.py all over the project, but it therefore seems that I cannot ! Is there a work around (for example a filter that removes the % after the date has been formatted like {{ my_date|date|dream_filter }}, because if I just use DATE_FORMAT = "%Y-%m-%d" I got something like %2001-%6-%12)?
