  • How to register file types/extensions with a WiX installer?

    I didn't find an explicit answer to this question in the WiX Documentation (or Google, for that matter). Of course I could just write the appropriate registry keys in HKCR, but it makes me feel dirty and I'd expect this to be a standard task which should have a nice default solution. For bonus points, I'd like to know how to make it "safe", i.e. don't overwrite existing registrations for the file type and remove the registration on uninstall only if it has been registered during installation and is unchanged.

  • How to drop a primary key using ActiveRecord migrations

    Due to a mistake I forgot to add :id => false to a has_many :trough table creation migration. Now I reverted the association back to a has_and_belongs_to_many and ActiveRecord throws an exception complaining about the presence of the primary key. I couldn't find any reference on the ActiveRecord documentation so, do you know if there is any standard, clean way of doing it?

  • Problem installing Windows Server 2008 R2 on Xen 3.0

    Hi there folks, I've been googling this for a few hours now and not really getting anywhere. We have a Xen 3.0 host which I'm trying to install a copy of Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition onto as a guest OS - but the install hangs at the "Starting Windows" screen when it starts running the installer. Is this is a known issue with the version of Xen we're running (I know it's positively ancient)? Is there a workaround for it at all? We've successfully got a great number of vanilla 2008 servers running on it, it appears it's an issue specific to R2. Bryan

    Hi, I have a list of rows in an excel sheet which I need to load as historical transactions into a table in my rails applications. I saved the excel file as a csv file. I tried using csv from the standard library but keep getting the following exception CSV::IllegalFormatError. Not sure how to even figure out where the problem lies. (After assigning the shortcut) What doesn't work is QuickNav and QuickFileNav. The Standard Shourtcut for QuickFileNav is CTRL+ALT+F, which is conflicted with VS View.F#Interactive. But removing this shortcut or changing the shortcuts for QuickNav and QuickFileNav doesn't bring up the nav-windows. NextReference (TABULATOR) doesn't work Any solutions? Other issues?

  • acts_as_revisable 'loses' previous models created before migration

    I have the following the standard, regular post sample app. I created some posts then decided to introduce acts_as_revisable After following the instructions at http://github.com/rich/acts_as_revisable I see that the previous posts are not appearing in the Post.all call. However, if I use the console and do Post.find_by_sql("SELECT * FROM Post WHERE ID=1") the post shows up. Any ideas? Thanks

Is there a performance gain in using a ref or out parameter instead of the standard return value?   • Connect server to router with workstation in between?

    I have a server (9 yr old Dell with Ubuntu 10.04 Server Edition) and a workstation (Laptop with Vista) which are both connected to a router. The workstation is able to access the server via web browser for testing my web development projects. Since the server is old and does not have a wireless card, I am wondering if it is possible to connect the server directly to the workstation while maintaining the ability to connect to the server from the workstation. The reason is that the computers are in a separate room from the router and I am trying to limit the amount of wires on the floor, along with trying to avoid buying more hardware (like a wireless card).   • How do you encrypt parts of a file separately using pgp?

    I would like to encrypt credit card numbers on a web server as they come in using PGP. I would then like to be able to export all of the credit card numbers and other information in one file that can be easily decrypted using standard PGP software. Is it possible to take the encrypted credit card numbers and join them with other encrypted data and be able to decrypt the entire file? Basically is this true? D(E(x) + E(y)) = x + y Where '+' means string concatenation.

  • Events 1030 and 1006 in Windows 2003

    I've got a computer running Windows 2003 R2 Standard Edition Service Pack 2 and periodically (every 5 minutes) the systems generates 2 errors that can be seen in the event viewer. The codes of the events are 1030, 1006 that seems to be related to group policies... I don´t know if these events are realted to the perfomance of the system but anyway i would like to fix them. I've googled around and seems to be a common problem but i haven't found a solution for these events. Do you know how can be fix it? Thanks in advance
