Include OpenX ad in a jquery-ui dialog?

I'm loading some content into a jquery-ui dialog via .ajax. That's all working fine but now I've been given an OpenX ad to embed into the dialog & can't figure out how to do it. I know all the script is stripped when coming in via ajax, & I know how to use $.getScript to load .js files for use in the dialog, but the OpenX ad script I've got uses document.write so I think it's expecting to be embedded inline into the desired position on the page. I've tried appending the escaped script string into the div on ajax success of the main content as below, but this results in the page being redirected to a page with just the ad on it. Attempt shown below: $("#" + idHelpPage).find(".adScript").append("<script type='text/javascript'>var m3_u = (location.protocol=='https:'?'https://d1.openx.org/ajs.php':'http://d1.openx.org/ajs.php');var m3_r = ... etc etc I'm ok with jquery but not great with javascript, would really appreciate any help! nginx - redirection doesn't work as expected

Posting a form and redirecting to action ASP.NET MVC

I have a navigation bar that uses JQuery to move between 4 stages of signup process. However I need to make sure everything is working with JS disabled. So I have these 4 link images at the bottom of the page and I need so that if one is clicked it posts to the current action so I can save all the form data and then redirect to the next stage. The redirect is easy enough as I will just pass a parameter in the route or form but I don't know how to post the method using just action links. I could put 4 different submit buttons with different classes for the image backgrounds etc but this feels wrong. Any ideas?

Dynamically creating GWT screens using Metadata?

I have an AWT applet application that needs to be ported over to GWT. The applet screens are described in meta data and the applet renders each screen dynamically using reflection. We'd like the same thing in GWT/ExtGWT. I've built a working version of this ExtJS whereby the metadata is turned into ExtJS Screen configs in the form of JSON. The drawback with this approach is the "wiring" of controls to data needs to be written in Javascript. GWT is preferred since it'd be all Java code, no JS. Upon digging in it's possible to render the screens using GWT off the metadata using GWT.create(). The problem I'm having is the wiring to hook a dynamically created button for example to an event handler requires reflection which is not supported in GWT. Is this conclusion correct? and if so, are there any other ways to achieve this type of dynamic UI using ExtGWT?

Spring 3 JSON with MVC

Is there a way to build Spring Web calls that consume and produce application/json formatted requests and responses respectively? Maybe this isn't Spring MVC, I'm not sure. I'm looking for Spring libraries that behave in a similar fashion to Jersey/JSON. The best case would be if there was an annotation that I could add to the Controller classes that would turn them into JSON service calls. A tutorial showing how to build Spring Web Services with JSON would be great. EDIT: I'm looking for an annotation based approach (similar to Jersey). EDIT2: Like Jersey, I am looking for REST support (POST,GET,DELETE,PUT). EDIT3: Most preferably, this will be the pom.xml entries and some information on using the spring-js with jackson Spring native version of things.

How to use HTML-5 data-* attributes in ASP.NET MVC

I am trying to use HTML5 data- attributes in my ASP.NET MVC 1 project. (I am a C# and ASP.NET MVC newbie.) <%= Html.ActionLink("« Previous", "Search", new { keyword = Model.Keyword, page = Model.currPage - 1}, new { @class = "prev", data-details = "Some Details" })%> The "data-details" in the above htmlAttributes give the following error: CS0746: Invalid anonymous type member declarator. Anonymous type members must be declared with a member assignment, simple name or member access. It works when I use data_details, but I guess it need to be starting with "data-" as per the spec. My questions: Is there any way to get this working and use HTML5 data attributes with Html.ActionLink or similar Html helpers ? Is there any other alternative mechanism to attach custom data to an element? This data is to be processed later by JS.

How to track humans, but not spiders?

I am writing a nice little PHP/MySQL/JS ad system for my site - charging by impression. Therefore, my clients would like to be sure that they aren't paying for impressions caused by robots / spiders / etc. Is there a decently effective way to decipher between human and robot, without doing something obstructive like a captcha, or requesting "no index" or something? Basically, is there some sort of "name tag" that legit spiders have on so that my site knows their presence, therefore letting me react accordingly? And, if there isn't...how do ad companies like Google defend against this?

jQueryUI Ajax.NET Postback Bug

Hi, I have this ASP.NET page with ASP.NET UpdatePanel and jQueryUI droppable and sortable components. The page works fine in all browsers, but doesn't in Internet Explorer (IE8 tested). After I try to call ASP.NET AJAX event (by pressing my asp.net button inside the UpdatePanel) my sortable list stops working properly inside IE browser and the browser throws the following error: Message: Unspecified error. Line: 145 Char: 186 Code: 0 URI: http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.4.2.min.js I found out that the problem is caused by the code on line 66: $("#droppable").droppable(); If I comment it out, the sortable list works fine after ajax postbacks. But it doesn't make sense. Does anyone know what could be wrong? Thanks. P.S. I am using jQueryUI 1.8.1 and jQuery 1.4.2

Chrome Facebook Connect Window Resize

I am experiencing a weird issue in Google Chrome for Mac OS X (10.6). I am using the JS Facebook Connect library and FB.Connect.streamPublish to share a story on a users profile. If the user is already logged in to Facebook prior to coming to the share page on my site, there's no problem - the window opens as an absolutely positioned div above the rest of my site. If the user is not logged in, though, a pop-up window opens that asks the user to log in. This works perfectly in Firefox, but when using Chrome, when the Facebook login window opens, it starts gradually resizing itself until it becomes a narrow column - when manually resizing the window, it gradually reverts back to the narrow column. I googled this problem and found that some users are experiencing the same issue, but I could not find a solution. Does anybody know anything about this? JQuery UI tabs: How do I navigate directly to a tab from another page?

JQuery UI tabs are implemented by named anchors in an unordered list. When you hover over one of the tabs you can see this in the link shown at the foot of the browser: http://mysite/product/3/#orders Above would be the "orders" tab for example. JQuery obviously intercepts the click to this anchor and opens the tab instead. However if I bookmark the link above or link to it from elsewhere in the site the page does not open on the specific tab. In the tab initialisation block I was considering putting in some code that looks for a named anchor in the URL and, if it finds one, does an index lookup of the tabs and calls the select on it. This would mean it will still work with JS switched off. But is there an easier/nicer/better way?

However, sometimes, the bridge connection fails and I see thatin the URL, facebook attach the fb_noscript=1 parameter there. e.g. apps.facebook.com/myapp/?fb_noscript=1 when I remove it, and reload the apps, it is all good. I just don't know what I get the fb_noscript thing. and how to get rid of it.

Running a custom VirtualPathProvider with a PreCompiled website

Hi, currently I have a custom VirtualPathProvider in a Asp.net MVC web application. This VirtualPathProvider checks the Area from the route "/{Area}/{Controller}/..." and uses the NameSpace.{Area}.Main.dll module to return the views that are contained in that assembly as Embedded Resources. This works great and I don't have to deploy any ascx, js, css files. Now my problem is this: I would like to precompile the aspx and ascx files in the assembly and instead of having the views as embedded resources I would have the view class with all the Response.Write and dings and dongs. I can precompile the views using the aspnet_compiler but I keep getting an error when ever the ViewEngine tries to find the view and fails. My main goal is to have a way for the first time usage of a certain view/usercontrol would be faster and don't wait for the compilation to happen. This is a requirement since the application could be grouped into plugins and this plugins be deployed into the Bin directory. Any thoughts? With best regards Carlos Sobrinho

AJAX Partial page update problem when displaying a control

Hello! I have an interesting problem when using partial page update in asp.net with scriptmanager and a update panel. My scenario looks like this: I'm using the tab control from the ajax toolkit. I also implemented this control using lazy loading, so that when the page is loaded only the current tab gets loaded all the other tabs don't get rendered, because Im using an UpdatePanel (on a .ascx control) on each of these tabs and when a tab gets selected the updatepanel makes a async postback to load the content for a selected tab. On one of my tabs Im using a combobox control from obout.com, and it doesn't work. Now I know why it doesn't work. It doesn't work because the control is shown via a partial page refresh, but to correctly display the control it has to do some "magic" that is - register some .css and .js includes on the page (in the head I guess)....but because I load this control via async page refresh...it can't do these stuff. What kind of workarround do you suggest? Thanks!

Hi! I am using an XMLHttpRequest to POST a JSON string to PHP. The JSON object is created in JavaScript and using the JSON2.js from json.org to create an JSON string representing the object. JSON.stringify(object); Whenever the object contains a string which has a special character in it, e.g. é, JavaScript does not give any error but PHP receives an empty array [] Is there a JavaScript function which produces the exact same resutls as the PHP function htmlentities() The data is send via POST, so the following functions escape() encodeURI() encodeURIComponent() are a bit overkill. Remove filter attribute after jQuery UI dialog is finished opening

Using jQuery UI 1.8rc3 combined with the new jquery.effects.fade.js code, I've been able to finally apply fade-in and fade-out effects to opening the UI Dialog widgets. Hooray! $dialog.dialog({ show: { effect: "fade", options: {}, speed: 150 } } This works great - unfortunately, there's the known IE7 & 8 bug where the ClearType gets turned off by the application of an empty filter: style attribute after the fade effect is finished. I have the code to remove the filter attribute, I just can't find a good way to hook it into the event chain. The dialog's "open" and "focus" events are too soon. I need something like a "dialog opening animation is finished" callback. How can I hook up a callback to the end of the opening effect for a dialog?

SVN project folder tree structure vs production folder tree structure

While developing a PHP+JS web application we always try to separate big blocks of code into small modules/components, in order to make these last ones as much reusable as possible in other applications. Let's say we now have: the EcommerceApp (an ecommerce main application) a Server-file-mgr component (a component to view/manage file on server) a Mylib (a library of useful functions) a MailistApp (another main application to handle mail lists) ... EcommerceApp needs both Server-file-mgr component and Mylib to work Server-file-mgr needs Mylib to work MaillistApp needs both Server-file-mgr component and Mylib to work too. My idea is to simply structure the SVN project folder tree putting everything at the same level: trunk/EcommerceApp trunk/Server-file-mgr trunk/Mylib trunk/MaillistApp But in real life to make these apps to work the folder tree structure must be the following: EcommerceApp |_ Mylib |_ Server-file-mgr MaillistApp |_ Mylib |_ Server-file-mgr I mean Mylib and Server-file-mgr needs to be inside the EcommerceApp/MaillistApp folder. How would you then structure the SVN folder, as I did or in a different/better/smarter way???

Global "ajax call" notification with asp.net mvc/jquery

I need to be notified any time a largeish asp.net mvc web application makes an ajax call to the server. We're using both jquery, and the built-in Ajax.* methods to do the remote calls, and I would like a global way of knowing when we make a call without having to manually inject some sort of "IsMakingCall" method to every request. The root problem we're trying to solve is session timeout. If the user leaves a page up and goes to lunch (for example), they get errors when they get back because the ajax call is returning the login page instead of the expected json or partial html result. My idea was to have a js timer which would be reset any time we make an ajax call. That way, if the timer runs out (ie. their session has now timed out) I can just auto-log them out. This is how sites like bank of america and mint.com work. Thanks!

Scrollable div on iPhone without using 2 fingers?

Hi there; I've got a UIWebView embedded in my iPhone app, and I'd like to keep a locked header and footer DIV on the page at all times, with a scrollable center DIV. I know that I could do this using a header/footer that are UIView controls, but I want the header and footer to be HTML divs, as a pure HTML/JS/CSS solution will be easier to port to Android/PalmPre/AdobeAir, which is going to be on my todo list relatively soon. I can do this using techniques like the one mentioned here: http://defunc.com/blog/?p=94 But this requires that the user use 2 fingers to scroll the div, which is not satisfactory to me... Sending Facebook notifications

Hey i have a little facebook iframe application written with rails and the facebooker plugin. I can loop through the users friends and see whether they also have this application. To do this I use a fql qeury, and my own html (no fbml). Now i want to create a button right beside every friend who doesn't have this app, that sends an invite massage. Is it possible to do this without this FBML/JS voodoo? I looked through the RESTful api but the only thing i could found was this deprecated method :( Can someone provide me an code example on how to do this? I really don't want to use this FBML stuff because it doesn't fit into the ui concept of the app, but if that the only way, please explain how to do this (every fbml tag I've tried is just invisible :( ) Thanks a lot.

Hot to trigger saved password autofill in browsers?

I have a web application written in pure JavaScript (no pre-generated HTML except for the document which loads all the JS files). This app contains a login form which is created dynamically when the document.ready event event is triggered. I trick the browser into displaying the "Remember password?" dialog by posting the login form into a hidden iframe before logging in using ajax (in Firefox the password appears on the saved password list, so this part obviously works) but saved passwords never get filled in after the login screen is loaded again at a later time. The same thing happens in Firefox and Safari. Is there something I can do or some function I can call to trigger autofill?
