Whats up with cross site Scripting (getJSON) and flickr example

In past i had read the documentation about getJSON and there is an example with a flickr photo api. (the example with the [pussy]cats :-)). No I ask myself why is it possible, to access flickr directly with this example. Ive tried this by store this code on my local machine - it works but if I use a local copy of jquery i just get an error in firebug like this $ is not defined myurl/test.html Line 11 Does anybody of you have a solution for this paradox thing? This is the documentation url HTTP:api.jquery.com/jQuery.getJSON/ The example isn´t also not working if I store the HTTP:code.jquery.com/jquery-latest.js in my local jquery file. In JavaScript, you can define a callback handler in regex string replace operations: str.replace(/str[123]|etc/, replaceCallback); Imagine you have a lookup object of strings and replacements. var lookup = {"str1": "repl1", "str2": "repl2", "str3": "repl3", "etc": "etc" }; and this callback function: var replaceCallback = function(match) { if (lookup[match]) return lookup[match]; else return match; } How would you assess the performance of the above callback? Are there solid ways to improve it? Would if (match in lookup) //.... or even return lookup[match] | match; lead to opportunities for the JS compiler to optimize, or is it all the same thing?

Javascript Intellisense not working on Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate (Windows 7 x64)

Hi guys, I've just got the new Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate and Javascript Intellisense is not working on .aspx/.ascx files inside blocks. It does work on external .js files. After VS2010 setup, it asked me if I wanted to import the settings from previous VS version (I have VS2008 SP1 installed), I say yes. I've tried resetting the settings like explained here. Didn't work. I've also installed Resharper 5. I thought it might be conflicting, so I tried suspending it like it says here. Didn't work. Anyone experiencing the same issue? I really want javascript/jQuery intellisense =(

Use VIM omnicomplete for javascript with ctags

I am using vim/gvim for 4 months already and now I found a way to use it's strengths. My tags file is generated very well and here is a simple row in it. my.namespace.classname /path/to/file.js /^my.namespace.classname = function(first_arg,$/;" f Here is an example what i need to omnicomplete: my.namespace.cla <- omnicomplete list with all classnames in the my.namespace The above is the key to my problem, because it looks like omnicomplete searches only namespace without including "my." in front of it. So i see other element in the omnicomplete list and not my classname at all. However, if i type :tag my.namespace.classname for example gvim opens the correct file at the correct position. What is wrong and how can I make it work?

missing event when using modules with requirejs

I had javascript code in a single JS file that was working fine (using XHR/AJAX). When I split it up into separate modules in a requirejs application, I do not seem to get a handle on the event object & it shows up as undefined (testing in firefox 29.0.1). document.getElementById not working for <a> tag

hi, I'm very new to js so kindly help me with this. I am trying to add a class to a tag using onClick. Changing Render Kits in Browser

I'm working on a project to develop a cross-browser testing web app. Simply put, I'm tired of having to maintain multiple browsers on the same system and IE in VMware solely for the purpose of testing. Does anyone know if there is any way to change the render kit programmatically? For example, if I insert a URL, I would be able to load the URL and switch the browser render within a frame of some assortment. I am experienced with PHP, JS, and RoR if there is a solution using any of those. Thank you! John

Dynamic content in ExtJS Window

TLDR I want to add some dynamic content into an Ext-JS window / popup. Currently I have tried assigning this content to a div and pulling on the innerhtml of that div like: new Ext.Window({ height: 50, width: 160, x: 0, y: 30, layout: "fit", html: document.getElementById('output').innerHTML; }).show(); Am using jquery & getjson to get the dynamic data. But that does nothing at all. Has anyone done something similar before? Can I give the html of the window an id and use it like an element?

Why does Google's Closure Compiler leave a few unnecessary spaces or line breaks?

I've noticed that every time I use Google's Closure Compiler Service, it leaves a few unnecessary spaces in the compiled code presented on the right-hand side of the page. These correspond to line breaks in the hosted version of the compiled code. For example (note the line breaks, each of which seems unnecessary): http://troy.onespot.com/static/stack_overflow/closure_spaces.js To date, I've just been removing them manually, but I'm curious why they're there. Is it to limit the line length of the hosted version of the code to make it more readable? Could the compiler be smart enough to leave or insert those intentionally to maximize GZIP compression efforts? I know that they have a trivial effect on the file size, but with so much effort going into minifying every last byte in the source script, it's counterintuitive why they're there.

jquery validation of controls

Hi , I am looking at validation of some text boxes for somethings like required, minlength, max length, email etc... I am able to get examples that work fine on submit button on page. I want to do this validation on a button click which will only raise a ajax request and not submit of page. On internet all the sample is found was with submit button. Is there a easy way to change this code a little bit o make it work for non submit button click or any new jquery or java plugin to do the same. I am using the jquery.validation.js for now. This works with submit buttons. Any kind of help with suggestion or help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

How to trigger saved password autofill in browsers?

I have a web application written in pure JavaScript (no pre-generated HTML except for the document which loads all the JS files). This app contains a login form which is created dynamically when the document.ready event event is triggered. I trick the browser into displaying the "Remember password?" dialog by posting the login form into a hidden iframe before logging in using ajax (in Firefox the password appears on the saved password list, so this part obviously works) but saved passwords never get filled in after the login screen is loaded again at a later time. The same thing happens in Firefox and Safari. Is there something I can do or some function I can call to trigger autofill? UPDATE: autofill works in Safari on initial page load, but not when user logs out and the login form is recreated without a page reload. In Firefox it never works.

Client side templating with unknown variables

Our company has an intranet consisting of several e-mail templates filled with variables (like [[NAME]], [[PROJECT]] and so on). I was thinking of implementing some sort of client side templating to make it easier to replace these variables with actual values. The problem is that among all the client side template solutions I've located so far, all of them seem to assume that the JS code knows all the template variables that exist in the markup, and none of them seem to be able to fetch a list of variables defined in the markup. Does anyone know of any solutions/plugin which makes this possible? Thanks in advance!

Conditional configuration in maven pom.xml

I'd like to ONLY exclude certain files in maven-war-plugin when property "skipCompress" set to true, I thought I could do something like this, but it doesn't work for me. Mvc relative path using virtual directory..help!

When i drag and drop my image/script/css file into my view, relative path will automatically use to refer on the files. example: <link href="../../Content/style.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> <script src="../../Scripts/jquery-min.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <img src="../../Images/logo.jpg" /> It is working fine when i host it on my root directory, but if i'm using virtual directory then only my css file able to refer correctly, the rest will return 404...as it will refer to http://{root}/Images/logo.jpg rather than http://{root}/{virtual directory}/Images/logo.jpg But why css file is working? and how to specify the relative path correctly for both root & virtual directory cases?

Problem on IE6-8 with jQuery

Hello guys, I'm stuck here with this IE6 issue.. always a pain. So I'm using jQuery's "live" feature to add a product each time. Then once each dropdown's value is changed, an input field assigned to it changes its value too so when I hit submit, it sends all the info. Everything works perfectly fine except in IE6, IE7, and IE8. I have no idea why... I've gone through the code and everything... so please guys. Is there "native" support for JSON in JDK6 Script Engine?

I'm using JDK6the standard Scripting. I need to store and retrieve some JavaScript Objects that also contain Java Objects to JSON. I loaded the json2.js into the ScriptENgine and can use it fine without issue if the objects are all created in the Scrip Engine. The moment I try to use my own Java classes, I get some errors like "object does not support toJSON" errors. I did not find much about JSON in Java Scripting / Rhino context. Am I doing something totally wrong? What's the best way of achieving the requirement?

Custom ASP.NET MVC cache controllers in a shared hosting environment?

I'm using custom controllers that cache static resources (CSS, JS, etc.) and images. I'm currently working with a hosting provider that has set me up under a full trust profile. Despite being in full trust, my controllers fail because the caching strategy relies on the File class to directly open a resource file prior to treatment and storage in memory. Is this something that would likely occur in all full trust shared hosting environments or is this specific to my host? The static files live within my application's structure and not in an arbitrary server path. It seems to me that custom caching would require code to access the file directly, and am hoping someone else has dealt with this issue.

I am writing some bookmarklets for a project that I am currently working on and I was wondering what the best practice for writing a bookmarklet was. Are there are any problems to this approach ? Browser incompatibility etc? What is the best practice for this?
