    Suppose you have these tables: Table Name: Salesman Fields: S_ID(Primary Key), Name Table Name: Region_1 Fields: Reg_ID(Primary Key), S_ID(Foreign Key), sales Table Name: Region_2 Fields: Reg_ID(Primary Key), S_ID(Foreign Key), sales Table Name: Region_3 Fields: Reg_ID(Primary Key), S_ID(Foreign Key), sales Table Name: Region_4 Fields: Reg_ID(Primary Key), S_ID(Foreign Key), sales Query 1: Find out total of sales of each salesman in all the regions. Query 2: Find out total of sales of a particual salesman in all the regions. (if the first one is solved I think this will be easy. :-) )

    I have been using CouchDB on some prototype applications and it has been brilliant, very easy to use and extremely quick. I was wondering if anyone has been using it in production and have any views on it's reliability, performance suitability for operational management etc ??     Hi, In Python script,for every method definition in some C++ code of the form: return_value ClassName::MethodName(args) {MehodBody} ,I need to extract three parts: the class name, the method name and the method body for further processing. Finding and extracting the ClassName and MethodName is easy, but is there any simple way to extract the body of the method? With all possible '{' and '}' inside it? Or are regexes unsuitable for such task?

    I know how to do it mathematically, but i want it now to do it in c++ using some easy algorithm. Is is possible? The question is that i need some methods/ideas for writing a number N in base M, for example 1410 in base 3: (14)10 = 2*(3^0) + 1*(3^1) + 1*(3^2) = (112)3 etc.

This question arose while reading Javascript: The Good Parts and PHP Objects, Patterns and Practice. While understanding and avoiding easy pitfalls, is there a way I can learn the fundamentals of OOP and discover solid programming practices without overlooking important areas (or simply becoming jaded)? I'm sure I'll have plenty of opportunity to learn from mistakes!

Example string: other | text [tag]text|more text|and more[/tag] end | text My goal is to replace | with <br/> between [tag] and [/tag].     I have to dynamically add a list of views (the views use RelativeLayout). Can I do this by specifying the view definition in xml and instantiate multiple objects off it? This gives the usual benefits of separating the view part from the code (for e.g., making it easy for the UI guys to alter things) or Is going the ArrayAdapter the suggested/only route?

  • Database advantages? Access, MySQL, msSQL, or any others?

    Dear all Stackoverflowers, I just started to learn programming and now I'm putting this question online based on a quote: no question is silly My work needs to develop a order system based on web, which wants a database system. Since using Excel for years as a general office user, I naturally turn this to Access. However, most people say Access is very limited comparing to MySQL or MSSQL, or any other more professional database system. But after developing some functions for my company's order system, I really find Access can fulfill my request. And I also tried MSSQL to develop, which I found it not quite convenient to use. I have searched in stackoverflow and find no general answer about my doubt. Now I am sincerely hoping some experienced and professional developers could clear my doubts. Now I'm listing some Access advantages, which I don't think other database system have. I hope you could help me also find these advantages in others. 1. Access is portable, I can just copy a xxx.accdb file to my company and continue with development. 2. Access is easy to generate helpful table, for example, it will automatically generate a field that can automatically count, could be used as primary key value. 3. it is more compatable with Excel, to display and filter data. 4. importantly, it nerely needs no environment to setup, just needs MS Office to be installed. ............others However, I also find some points that MSSQL is advantaged: 1. security reasons 2. easy to backup, ( just use BACKUP..... sql statement to do it) 3. can edit stored procedure to save some functions to database ...............others specifically, I wish some friends could tell me how to make other database portable? since I usually work both at home and in office. It's a headache to move MSSQL work to my office, since the version of MSSQL is not the same. Thank you all and best regards, :)
