  • Quick-n-Easy way to remove outdated ActiveDirectory users?

    - by Jason Taylor
We have around 70 current employees, but 178 accounts in ActiveDirectory. The prior administrators never removed old accounts, and sometimes they weren't even disabled. As it is, I am considering manually reviewing each account to determine if it can be removed. Is there an easier way to remove accounts based on a condition? Such as, remove (or at least disable or flag in some way) users that haven't logged in within the last month or so?

  • Bradford Dissolvable Agent not completing scan, application unexpectedly stops without error or report

    - by MChandler
I've been trying to connect to a network that uses the dissolvable agent to scan and OK your computer. The scan gets to around 70% ish, I think the last notification is that it's searching for AVG then closes, without report or notification. I've tried running it in compatibility modes, checking registry, running CCleaner, running as administrator, creating another user account and disconnecting all other HDD's appart from my system drive. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit, and before I joined the network bradford ran fine and gave me the all okay.

  • Excel Data Organization: Array Formulas? Tables? Named Range?

    - by Joe Arasin
    I'm trying to make a huge Excel sheet reasonably maintainable, but it's huge in the "hundred-table-db" direction, rather than the "hundred-thousand-row-table" direction. I want to have a baseline data table that looks something like this: | Indicator | Units | 2010 | 2015 | 2020 | 2025 | Source | | GDP | $Gazillion | 300 | 350 | 400 | 450 | BLS | | Population | Millions | 350 | 400 | 450 | 500 | Census | | PetMonkeyPopulation | Thousands | 50 | 60 | 70 | 80 | SimiansRUs | And then be able to have another sheet that looks like: | | 2010 | 2015 | 2020 | 2025 | | MonkeysPerCapita | .1 | .2 | .3 | .4 | | MonkeysPerDollar | .01 | .01 | .01 | .01 | | GDPPerCapita | 300 | 400 | 450 | 600 | Is there some standard way to make this kind of thing maintainable?

  • Windows Media Player Network Sharing eating lots of CPU

    - by reyjavikvi
There is a process, wmpnetwk.exe, which sometimes goes crazy and starts eating like 60-70% CPU. If I kill the process it just comes back again, so the only solution I've found is to stop the WMPNetworkSvc service, which makes the whole thing stop. I don't use WMP, so I don't care if this is disabled, but I'd like to know what's causing it (Google has revealed that it also happened to other people), and if there's a more permanent way of fixing the problem.

  • How do you keep track of all your passwords?

    - by Sam Saffron
How do you keep track of all your passwords? Personally I host a personal copy of clipperz, I used keepass and passpack in the past. What password manager would you recommend, what features does it have that make it awesome? Now at 70+ "answers" it's a pretty good bet that your favourite program is already mentioned. Upvote that if that's the case. If you can't yet upvote, come back when you've gained enough reputation instead of posting a duplicate answer.

  • Are random packets normal?

    - by TheLQ
About a month ago on one of my servers I started receiving random packets from IPs all over the world. So I did the smart thing and stopped putting off installing an IDS. This IDS is a ClearOS Gateway which comes with Snort and SnortSam. I enabled it, checked There is a total of 4 ports open, two of which forward to the server I'm talking about. These ports are 3724 and 8085, so they aren't going to be easily detected in a port scan. However checking some logs of this server I found that the attack is resuming. I found this ... Accepting connection from '75.166.155.122' [Auth] got unknown packet from '75.166.155.122' Accepting connection from '98.164.154.93' [Auth] got unknown packet from '98.164.154.93' Ping MySQL to keep connection alive Accepting connection from '70.241.195.129' [Auth] got unknown packet from '70.241.195.129' Accepting connection from '67.182.229.169' [Auth] got unknown packet from '67.182.229.169' Accepting connection from '69.137.140.38' [Auth] got unknown packet from '69.137.140.38' Accepting connection from '76.31.72.55' [Auth] got unknown packet from '76.31.72.55' Accepting connection from '97.88.139.39' [Auth] got unknown packet from '97.88.139.39' Accepting connection from '173.35.62.112' [Auth] got unknown packet from '173.35.62.112' Accepting connection from '187.15.10.73' [Auth] got unknown packet from '187.15.10.73' Accepting connection from '66.66.94.124' [Auth] got unknown packet from '66.66.94.124' Accepting connection from '75.159.219.124' [Auth] got unknown packet from '75.159.219.124' Accepting connection from '99.102.100.82' [Auth] got unknown packet from '99.102.100.82' Accepting connection from '24.128.240.45' [Auth] got unknown packet from '24.128.240.45' Accepting connection from '99.231.7.39' [Auth] got unknown packet from '99.231.7.39' Accepting connection from '206.255.79.56' [Auth] got unknown packet from '206.255.79.56' Accepting connection from '68.97.106.235' [Auth] got unknown packet from '68.97.106.235' Accepting connection from '69.134.67.251' [Auth] got unknown packet from '69.134.67.251' Accepting connection from '63.228.138.186' [Auth] got unknown packet from '63.228.138.186' Accepting connection from '184.39.146.193' [Auth] got unknown packet from '184.39.146.193' Accepting connection from '69.171.161.102' [Auth] got unknown packet from '69.171.161.102' Accepting connection from '76.0.47.228' [Auth] got unknown packet from '76.0.47.228' Ping MySQL to keep connection alive Accepting connection from '126.112.201.14' [Auth] got unknown packet from '126.112.201.14' Ping MySQL to keep connection alive Now that scares me. Why isn't Snort detecting this? How were they able to find this specific port? More importantly, what normally would these packets contain? Is this something I should be worried about? How can I stop this?

  • sub domains with /etc/hosts and apache for gitorious

    - by QLands
I managed to have a local install of Gitorious. Now I need to finalize the apache integration using a virtual server but nothing seems to work. See for example my /etc/hosts file: 127.0.0.1 localhost 172.26.17.70 darkstar.ilri.org darkstar 172.26.17.70 git.darkstar.ilri.org My vhosts.conf has the following entries: # # Use name-based virtual hosting. # NameVirtualHost *:80 <VirtualHost *:80> <Directory /srv/httpd/htdocs> Options Indexes FollowSymLinks ExecCGI AllowOverride None Order allow, deny Allow from all </Directory> ServerName darkstar.ilri.org DocumentRoot /srv/httpd/htdocs ErrorLog /var/log/httpd/error_log AddHandler cgi-script .cgi </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost *:80> <Directory /srv/httpd/git.darkstar.ilri.org/gitorious/public> Options FollowSymLinks ExecCGI AllowOverride None Order allow, deny Allow from All </Directory> AddHandler cgi-script .cgi DocumentRoot /srv/httpd/git.darkstar.ilri.org/gitorious/public ServerName git.darkstar.ilri.org ErrorLog /var/www/git.darkstar.ilri.org/log/error.log CustomLog /var/www/git.darkstar.ilri.org/log/access.log combined AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE text/html text/plain text/xml text/javascript text/css application/x-javascript BrowserMatch ^Mozilla/4 gzip-only-text/html BrowserMatch ^Mozilla/4\.0[678] no-gzip BrowserMatch \bMSIE !no-gzip !gzip-only-text/html <FilesMatch "\.(ico|pdf|flv|jpg|jpeg|png|gif|js|css|swf)$"> ExpiresActive On ExpiresDefault "access plus 1 year" </FilesMatch> FileETag None RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{DOCUMENT_ROOT}/system/maintenance.html -f RewriteCond %{SCRIPT_FILENAME} !maintenance.html RewriteRule ^.*$ /system/maintenance.html [L] </VirtualHost> Now, when I go with Firefox to darkstar.ilri.org it shows the default Apache screen: "It works!". but when I go to git.darkstar.ilri.org it waits for few seconds then falls to darkstar.ilri.org and the default apache page. No error is reported. If I run httpd -S I get: VirtualHost configuration: wildcard NameVirtualHosts and _default_ servers: *:80 is a NameVirtualHost default server darkstar.ilri.org (/etc/httpd/extra/httpd-vhosts.conf:21) port 80 namevhost darkstar.ilri.org (/etc/httpd/extra/httpd-vhosts.conf:21) port 80 namevhost git.darkstar.ilri.org (/etc/httpd/extra/httpd-vhosts.conf:37) Syntax OK The funny thing is that if I configure gotirious in a host called gitrepository, add 127.0.0.1 gitrepository and go with Firefox to gitrepository.. Gitorious works... But why not with git.darkstar.ilri.org? Many thanks in advance.

  • Why is my computer using so much ram?

    - by Ian
I have 16gb of ram installed in my computer, and nearly 70% of it is used at all times. Looking at the processes in task manager the memory being used with everything in there doesn't even add up to 2gb. I have RAPID mode enabled on my ssd which may be using 2gb at most so I would understand that. I am thinking there might be a memory leak somewhere, but I don't really know how I would be able to tell. My performance and process list is below:

    - by aSkywalker
We have a file share in our small office (3-5 users). We now have the need for the files to be accessible outside of the office. I like the idea of dropbox - we have been using it for small remote sharing. If we buy the upgrade account, and move 30 to 70 gigs of files to it, will every user have to have the pro account? I have submitted this question to dropbox - but thought that the advice of users here would also be valuable

  • With a node.js powered server on EC2, how can I decrease the TCP connection time?

    - by talentedmrjones
While profiling my application I've noticed that in the Firebug Net panel, the "Connecting" time—that is the time waiting for a TCP connection—is consistently around 70–100ms. See image below: Of course in the grand scheme of things, 100ms is not long, but I have seen other services that respond with 0ms Connect time. So if other servers can, I should be able to as well. Any thoughts on how I might even beging to troubleshoot this?
