• Electroserver to Smartfox migration help

  I've got several demonstration programs that use Electroserver, but I'd also want to test the same code using Smartfox. What is the most straightforward method to do this kind of migration? I know the types of classes that need to be changed, but since the terminology is slightly different in both libraries, it's difficult to make a smooth transition. Fortunately, the programs are simple and I can probably do a bit of trial and error in replacing each missing class, but is there a better solution? Thanks.

I know about R, but I'd kind of prefer something a bit more general-purpose (or is R pretty general-purpose?). What suggestions do you guys have? Are there any languages out there whose syntax/semantics are particularly oriented towards this? Or are there any languages that have exceptionally good libraries?

  I'm trying to install xuggler Java libraries in Tomcat (version 5.5) on fedora-release-7-3 Should I install the binaries available for download on xuggler website or build my own (http://www.xuggle.com/xuggler/downloads/build.jsp)? I took the easy step first and installed the readymade binaries downloaded from http://www.xuggle.com/xuggler/downloads/ in usr/local/xuggler folder on my Linux server and then copied the jar files from share/java/jars folder to Tomcat's $CATALINA_HOME/shared/lib directory (as recommended by http://wiki.xuggle.com/Frequently_Asked_Questions#I_get_an_.22UnsatisfiedLinkError.22_when_I_run_Xuggler-based_Applications_in_Tomcat These are some 6 .jar files, including xuggle-xuggler.jar After restarting Tomcat, I'm still getting "java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no xuggle-xuggler in java.library.path" exception when my Java code attempts to invoke some xuggler method such as the one to find video duration of an flv file. What am I doing wrong? Any help is very much appreciated!

  I just installed GNUstep on my Windows XP machine and I'm attempting to compile the following Objective-C Hello World program from the command line: #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> int main(int argc, const char *argv[]) { NSAutoreleasePool *pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; NSLog(@"Hello world\n"); [pool drain]; return 0; } When I try to compile the program from the command line like so gcc hello.m -o hello I end up getting the following error hello.m:1:34: Foundation/Foundation.h: No such file or directory Is there something I need to do order to inform the compiler of where the standard Objective-C libraries are located?

  Hi, I've been doing just simple archetype projects until now, and always after dependencies definition and saving pom.xml, immediately after that the Maven Dependencies library was full of libraries. But now I declared: parent(pom packaging, scm, repository management) parent(pom packaging, shared dependencies) actual project (jar packaging, few more dependencies) actual project (jar packaging, few more dependencies) I created them from the upper one by "Create module" ... Problem is, that I can't make it automatically fill the Maven Dependencies library In .classpath file there is this line <classpathentry kind="con" path="org.maven.ide.eclipse.MAVEN2_CLASSPATH_CONTAINER"/> as in other "working" projects, but there is nothing on the classpath. Any suggestions please ?

• getting an embedded resource in a single dll made up of multiple class libraries

  my solution has multiple projects and in one of them I have the code to get the embedded resource (an xml file) from another project. All this works fine when all the projects are seperate. However when all the class libraries are embedded into a single dll, the code to get the resource file does not work i.e. it cannot get the emebedded resource. I was wondering if the references to the emebedded resource get mixed up when they are combined together in a single dll?? I use the method Assembly.GetCallingAssembly().GetManifestResourceStream("namespace..filename");

  I'm looking for generic and open source payment libraries that support many different payment processor APIs. In other words, I'd like to develop an application using a single payment processing API, but be able to easily switch between payment gateways, such as Authorize.Net, Payflow Pro, Braintree, PayPal, Google, Amazon, etc. This question gives some Java solutions, but the suggestions all look horrible. Isn't there anything more like ActiveMerchant for Java? I really need a good Java solution, to the point of building my own if necessary. But I don't want to reinvent the wheel if it exists. Are there any solutions for Python or PHP? Ideally, I'd like to find something similar to Ruby's ActiveMerchant, which looks exceptionally complete. Are there any other Ruby solutions?

• eclipse debugger: attaching source-code of maven managed libraries

  I'd like to use the source code of maven-managed dependencies when debugging our webapp in eclipse. I have managed to attach the sources to the libraries in the "Maven Managed Depedencies" classpath container, i.e. when I open a class file from a depedency (e.g. using Ctrl-Shift-T), I see the source code. However, when I launch the tomcat within eclipse, and execution halts on a breakpoint in that same class, the editor pane only displays the text "source not found", and a button to edit the "source lookup path". I have attempted to manually add the "Maven Managed Dependencies" classpath container, only to be told "Use maven project settings to configure depedency resolution". However, I see no useful setting in that property pane ... How can I attach those sources?

  I am investigating the use of the boost graph libraries in order to apply them to various network problems I have in mind. In the examples I have been looking at the graph edge values ("weights") are always initialized as integers, such as in these Bellman-Ford and Kruskal algorithms eg: int weights[] = { 1, 1, 2, 7, 3, 1, 1, 1 }; My problem is if I try and change the weights to double, I get a heap of warning messages about conversions etc, which so far I have not been able to figure out how to overcome. Does anyone see a way around this?

I'll use a real example: my "List" package on Hackage (List monad transformer and class) If I don't put the limit - my package could break by a change in "transformers" If I do put the limit - a user that uses "transformers" but is using a newer version of it will not be able to use lift and liftIO with ListT because it's only an instance of these classes of transformers-0.2.x I guess that applications should always put upper limits so that they never break, so this question is only about libraries: Shall I use the upper version limit on dependencies or not?

NCPDP (National Council for Prescription Drug Programs) is an standard for e-prescribing. It defines two formats for message transmission: binary and XML. Implementing XML is somehow easier because it is a standard format which in turn gives us more tooling options. The binary format has a very big specification and time-consuming to implement.   Some time ago I posted about a question about reading Excel files as a server process, to get around the tighter restrictions Microsoft have been applying on Office Automation. I now need to extend this, by finding methods/libraries to read other sorts of Office files in an automated way on a server. The applications I'm interested in are Word, Powerpoint, Project and to a lesser extent Word and Visio. I need to be able to support 97-2003 office files, and the newer open xml formats (e.g. xlsx, docx) at a very least. With regards to Word integration, I also need to be able to handle writing/reading RTF text. If anyone has any suggestions I'd be pleased to hear them. Thanks

  I need to perform a conversion of characters from UTF-8 to ISO-8859-1 in Java without losing for example all of the UTF-8 specific punctuation. Ideally would like these to be converted to equivalents in ISO (e.g. there are probably 5 different single quotes in UTF-8 and would like them all converted to ISO single quote character). String.getBytes("ISO-8859-1") just won't do the trick in this case as it will lose the UTF-8-specific chars. Do you know of any ready mappings or libraries in Java that would map UTF-8 specific characters to ISO?

• What libraries are available for manipulating super large images in .Net

  I have some really large files for example 320 MB tif file with 14000 X 9000 pixels. The operations I need to perform are basically scaling the images to get smaller versions of it and breaking the image into tiles. My code works fine with small files and I use the .Net Bitmap objects but I will occasionally get Out of Memory exceptions for larger files. I've tried using the FreeImage libraries FreeImageBitmap but have the same problems. I'm using something like the following to scale the image: using (Graphics g = Graphics.FromImage((Image)result)) { g.DrawImage( source, xOffset, yOffset, source.Width * scale, source.Height * scale ); } Ideally I'd like a third party library to do all the hardwork, but if you have any tips or resources with more information I would appreciate it.

• Linking Libraries in Xcode

  Hey all, I'm using a powerbook (osx 10.5) and recently downloaded and installed FFTW 3.2 (link text). I've been able to compile and run some simple programs based on the online tutorial using the terminal: g++ main.cpp -lfftw3 -lm however, I can't get the same program to compile in Xcode. I get a linking error, "symbol(s) not found". There is a file called libfftw3.a in /usr/local/lib. How can this be linked? Furthermore, apparently the libraries have to be linked in a particular order, i.e. see: link text thanks for any help

  How can I compile third party libraries with the android NDK? I am compiling a wrapper which implements the JNI functions as a shared lib, which depends on another 3rd party lib (HTK). I don't know how to setup the makefile. The following does not work: LOCAL_PATH := $(call my-dir) include $(CLEAR_VARS) include HTKLib/Android.mk LOCAL_PATH := $(call my-dir) include $(CLEAR_VARS) LOCAL_MODULE := gaitfuncs LOCAL_SRC_FILES := gaitfuncs.c %LOCAL_LDLIBS := -L$(SYSROOT)/usr/lib -llog include $(BUILD_SHARED_LIBRARY) The second makefile should then build a static lib which my shared lib links to. How can I include this subdir makefile properly? Is this the correct way of doing it? And as a bonus: Are there wildcards for the LOCAL_SRC_FILES variable to take all files ending in .c for example.   Hi! I would like to build a web application where users can create forms with very few technical knowledge. Since they need "advanced" features like validations, required fields and some more, I am currently evaluating XForms and web forms 2.0 (from HTML 5 spec). Concerning web forms, my research couldn't find any answers for the following questions: Are there any (JavaScript) libraries out there which make web forms fully available in browsers which have currently no support for them (i.e. Firefox)? Is there a "web forms editor" which allows creating input and select fields, with setting attributes like the type, required, ...? It has to be something visual, and must create "nice" html. Any help/ hints would be appreciated!

• IntelliJ doesn't seem to pickup certain sbt libraries, no code completion

  I am using sbt console in my terminal to compile my scala/play project. I am using intellij to edit my source code, basically using it just for getting some code completion and navigation etc. For some reason certain libraries don't seem to load correctly. For example, I added elastic search to my Dependancies.scala file, reloaded sbt and everything compiles fine but for some reason IntelliJ doesn't pickup the jars correctly i.e. they are in red and there is no syntax completion. How can I fix this? I tried shutting intellij down and restarting it but the problem remains. I am using Intelli 13.1.3 (ultimate)

  Hello, I am posting this question as I couldn't find the answer (which is probably very easy, but apparently not for me) anywhere.. I am new to FreshBooks (no only the API) and I want to use it for some automatically generated invoices. I was trying to run some of the source code examples (the PHP and JS libraries in particular): http://developers.freshbooks.com/api/samplecode/ The problem is that I get an error message: "Connection error" Do I need to set up anything else in the example files besides my API and token obtained from the FreshBooks site? • Alternatives libraries for loading PNG images

  My java J2SE application is reading a lot of (png) images from the web and some of them use features such as a transparency color for true-color images (tRNS section) that Sun's/Oracle's PNGImageReader implementation simply ignores. Therefore the common solution for loading via ImageIO.read(...); does not work for me as it relies on this incomplete PNGImageReader implementation. Does anybody know a png reader implementation that can read all forms of PNG images correctly - those with color table or true-color and alpha transparency or transparent color? As it is for a GPL project it should be a non-commercial one that can be included without licensing problems into the app. Edit: My be this question was too specific. Therefore let be redesign my question: Who knows alternative implementations and libraries that are able to load PNG files? I will then test the implementations for their capabilities to load some test png images. Edit2: The end result have to be a BufferedImage

  Imagine you have an executable foo.rb, with libraries bar.rb layed out in the following manner: <root>/bin/foo.rb <root>/lib/bar.rb In the header of foo.rb you place the following require to bring in functionality in bar.rb: require File.dirname(__FILE__)+"../lib/bar.rb" This works fine so long as all calls to foo.rb are direct. If you put as say $HOME/project, and symlink foo.rb into $HOME/usr/bin, then __FILE__ resolves to $HOME/usr/bin/foo.rb, and is thus unable to locate bar.rb in relation to the dirname for foo.rb. I realize that packaging systems such as rubygems fix this by creating a namespace to search for the library, and that it is also possible to adjust the load_path using $: to include $HOME/project/lib, but it seems as if a more simple solution should exist. Has anyone had experience with this problem and found a useful solution or recipe?

  How can I hide the New / Actions / Upload / Settings menus within a list or document library in SharePoint? Note that I need to be able to hide these menus for a particular list definition (template) and not just all lists or document libraries. One possible way that I know of is to register a , and set the ControlClass element to a control that inherits from WebControl. In the WebControl, I can override OnPreRender, which then does this: foreach (Control control in this.Parent.Controls) { if (control.ToString() == "Microsoft.SharePoint.WebControls.NewMenu") { control.Visible = false; } // etc } This is pretty hacky, and I was just wondering if there is a better way of doing it?
