  • Roll up project-level tasks to the project collection portal in TFS2010

    - by adam.mokan
I have a Project Collection setup in my TFS2010RC deployment. I have two Projects setup under this collection with their own task lists, which are populated with data. I fully expected the tasks from these individual projects to "roll up" and appear in the task list at the Project Collection level, but they do not. The Project Collection task list is empty. Basically, I'm looking to provide a view so a supervisor could see all tasks across projects quickly and easily. I'm sure I could write a reporting services report, but it seems like this is something so basic that it would have been included and it just need to be turned on or something. I'm sure I'm probably missing something really simple here. Thanks.

  • Sorting an observable collection with linq

    - by zachary
I have an observable collection and I sort it using linq. Everything is great, but the problem I have is how do I sort the actual observable collection? Instead I just end up with some IEnumerable thing and I end up clearing the collection and adding the stuff back in. This can't be good for performance. Does anyone know of a better way to do this?

  • Help me understand these generic method warnings

    - by Raj
Folks, I have a base class, say: public class BaseType { private String id; ... } and then three subclasses: public class TypeA extends BaseType { ... } public class TypeB extends BaseType { ... } public class TypeC extends BaseType { ... } I have a container class that maintains lists of objects of these types: public class Container { private List<TypeA> aList; private List<TypeB> bList; private List<TypeC> cList; // finder method goes here } And now I want to add a finder method to container that will find an object from one of the lists. The finder method is written as follows: public <T extends BaseType> T find( String id, Class<T> clazz ) { final List<T> collection; if( clazz == TypeA.class ) { collection = (List<T>)aList; } else if( clazz == TypeB.class ) { collection = (List<T>)bList; } else if( clazz == TypeC.class ) { collection = (List<T>)cList; } else return null; for( final BaseType value : collection ) { if( value.getId().equals( id ) ) { return (T)value; } } return null; } My question is this: If I don't add all the casts to T in my finder above, I get compile errors. I think the compile should be able to infer the types based on parametrization of the generic method (). Can anyone explain this? Thanks. -Raj

  • Mapping a child collection without indexing based on database primary key or using bag

    - by Colin Bowern
I have a existing parent-child relationship I am trying to map in Fluent Nhibernate: [RatingCollection] -- [Rating] Rating Collection has: ID (database generated ID) Code Name Rating has: ID (database generated id) Rating Collection ID Code Name I have been trying to figure out which permutation of HasMany makes sense here. What I have right now: HasMany<Rating>(x => x.Ratings) .WithTableName("Rating") .KeyColumnNames.Add("RatingCollectionId") .Component(c => { c.Map(x => x.Code); c.Map(x => x.Name); ); It works from a CRUD perspective but because it's a bag it ends up deleting the rating contents any time I try to do a simple update / insert to the Ratings property. What I want is an indexed collection but not using the database generated ID (which is in the six digit range right now). Any thoughts on how I could get a zero-based indexed collection (so I can go entity.Ratings[0].Name = "foo") which would allow me to modify the collection without deleting/reinserting it all when persisting?

  • Marshal generic return types for com interop

    - by Israel Chen
Is it possible to Marshal a generic return type as non-generic for COM interop? Let's say I have the following class: [ComVisible(true)] public class Foo { public IEnumerable GetStr() // Generic return type { yield break; } } I know that IEnumerable implements IEnumerable. Can I force tlbexp.exe (via return: attribute or some other way) to expose GetStr() method as a method returning IEnumerbale?

  • Backbone.Marionette - Collection within CompositeView, which itself is nested in a CollectionView

    - by nicefinly
*UPDATE: The problem probably involves the tour-template as I've discovered that it thinks the 'name' attribute is undefined. This leads me to think that it's not an array being passed on to the ToursView, but for some reason a string. * After studying similar questions on StackOverflow: How to handle nested CompositeView using Backbone.Marionette? How do you properly display a Backbone marionette collection view based on a model javascript array property? Nested collections with Backbone.Marionette ... and Derick Bailey's excellent blog's on this subject: http://lostechies.com/derickbailey/2012/04/05/composite-views-tree-structures-tables-and-more/ ... including the JSFiddle's: http://jsfiddle.net/derickbailey/AdWjU/ I'm still having trouble with a displaying the last node of a nested CollectionView of CompositeViews. It is the final CollectionView within each CompositeView that is causing the problem. CollectionView { CompositeView{ CollectionView {} //**<-- This is the troublemaker!** } } NOTE: I have already made a point of creating a valid Backbone.Collection given that the collection passed on to the final, child CollectionView is just a simple array. Data returned from the api to ToursList: [ { "id": "1", "name": "Venice", "theTours": "[ {'name': u'test venice'}, {'name': u'test venice 2'} ]" }, { "id": "2", "name": "Rome", "theTours": "[ {'name': u'Test rome'} ]" }, { "id": "3", "name": "Dublin", "theTours": "[ {'name': u'test dublin'}, {'name': u'test dublin 2'} ]" } ] I'm trying to nest these in a dropdown where the nav header is the 'name' (i.e. Dublin), and the subsequent li 's are the individual tour names (i.e. 'test dublin', 'test dublin2', etc.) Tour Models and Collections ToursByLoc = TastypieModel.extend({}); ToursList = TastypieCollection.extend({ model: ToursByLoc, url:'/api/v1/location/', }); Tour Views ToursView = Backbone.Marionette.ItemView.extend({ template: '#tour-template', tagName: 'li', }); ToursByLocView = Backbone.Marionette.CompositeView.extend({ template: '#toursByLoc-template', itemView: ToursView, initialize: function(){ //As per Derick Bailey's comments regarding the need to pass on a //valid Backbone.Collection to the child CollectionView //REFERENCE: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/12163118/nested-collections-with-backbone-marionette var theTours = this.model.get('theTours'); this.collection = new Backbone.Collection(theTours); }, appendHtml: function(collectionView, itemView){ collectionView.$('div').append(itemView.el); } }); ToursListView = Backbone.Marionette.CollectionView.extend({ itemView: ToursByLocView, }); Templates <script id="tour-template" type="text/template"> <%= name %> </script> <script id="toursByLoc-template" type="text/template"> <li class="nav-header"><%= name %></li> <div class="indTours"></div> <li class="divider"></li> </script>

  • Why is my Ubuntu system not using the correct kernel?

    - by Brooks Moses
We're having a bit of confusion on a Ubuntu remote system -- /boot/grub/menu.lst suggests the system should boot into kernel 2.6.35-30-generic, but it is actually running kernel 2.6.32-27-generic. • Partial generic type inference possible in C#?

    - by Lasse V. Karlsen
I am working on rewriting my fluent interface for my IoC class library, and when I refactored some code in order to share some common functionality through a base class, I hit upon a snag. Note: This is something I want to do, not something I have to do. If I have to make do with a different syntax, I will, but if anyone has an idea on how to make my code compile the way I want it, it would be most welcome. I want some extension methods to be available for a specific base-class, and these methods should be generic, with one generic type, related to an argument to the method, but the methods should also return a specific type related to the particular descendant they're invoked upon. Better with a code example than the above description methinks. Here's a simple and complete example of what doesn't work: using System; namespace ConsoleApplication16 { public class ParameterizedRegistrationBase { } public class ConcreteTypeRegistration : ParameterizedRegistrationBase { public void SomethingConcrete() { } } public class DelegateRegistration : ParameterizedRegistrationBase { public void SomethingDelegated() { } } public static class Extensions { public static ParameterizedRegistrationBase Parameter<T>( this ParameterizedRegistrationBase p, string name, T value) { return p; } } class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { ConcreteTypeRegistration ct = new ConcreteTypeRegistration(); ct .Parameter<int>("age", 20) .SomethingConcrete(); // <-- this is not available DelegateRegistration del = new DelegateRegistration(); del .Parameter<int>("age", 20) .SomethingDelegated(); // <-- neither is this } } } If you compile this, you'll get: 'ConsoleApplication16.ParameterizedRegistrationBase' does not contain a definition for 'SomethingConcrete' and no extension method 'SomethingConcrete'... 'ConsoleApplication16.ParameterizedRegistrationBase' does not contain a definition for 'SomethingDelegated' and no extension method 'SomethingDelegated'... What I want is for the extension method (Parameter<T>) to be able to be invoked on both ConcreteTypeRegistration and DelegateRegistration, and in both cases the return type should match the type the extension was invoked on. The problem is as follows: I would like to write: ct.Parameter<string>("name", "Lasse") ^------^ notice only one generic argument but also that Parameter<T> returns an object of the same type it was invoked on, which means: ct.Parameter<string>("name", "Lasse").SomethingConcrete(); ^ ^-------+-------^ | | +---------------------------------------------+ .SomethingConcrete comes from the object in "ct" which in this case is of type ConcreteTypeRegistration Is there any way I can trick the compiler into making this leap for me? If I add two generic type arguments to the Parameter method, type inference forces me to either provide both, or none, which means this: public static TReg Parameter<TReg, T>( this TReg p, string name, T value) where TReg : ParameterizedRegistrationBase gives me this: Using the generic method 'ConsoleApplication16.Extensions.Parameter<TReg,T>(TReg, string, T)' requires 2 type arguments Using the generic method 'ConsoleApplication16.Extensions.Parameter<TReg,T>(TReg, string, T)' requires 2 type arguments Which is just as bad. I can easily restructure the classes, or even make the methods non-extension-methods by introducing them into the hierarchy, but my question is if I can avoid having to duplicate the methods for the two descendants, and in some way declare them only once, for the base class. Let me rephrase that. Is there a way to change the classes in the first code example above, so that the syntax in the Main-method can be kept, without duplicating the methods in question? The code will have to be compatible with both C# 3.0 and 4.0. Edit: The reason I'd rather not leave both generic type arguments to inference is that for some services, I want to specify a parameter value for a constructor parameter that is of one type, but pass in a value that is a descendant. For the moment, matching of specified argument values and the correct constructor to call is done using both the name and the type of the argument. Let me give an example: ServiceContainerBuilder.Register<ISomeService>(r => r .From(f => f.ConcreteType<FileService>(ct => ct .Parameter<Stream>("source", new FileStream(...))))); ^--+---^ ^---+----^ | | | +- has to be a descendant of Stream | +- has to match constructor of FileService If I leave both to type inference, the parameter type will be FileStream, not Stream.

  • How to traverse the item in the collection in a List or Observable collection?

    - by Ashish Ashu
I have a collection that is binded to my Listview. I have provided options to user to "move up" "move down" the selected item in the list view. I have binded the selected item of the listview to my viewmodel, hence I get the item in the collection on which user want to do the operation. I have attached "move up" "move down" commands in my viewmodel. I want what is the best way to move up and down in the collection in the collection which is reflected in the list view. Please suggest.

  • ASP.NET MVC: Accessing ModelMetadata for items in a collection

    - by DanM
I'm trying to write an auto-scaffolder for Index views. I'd like to be able to pass in a collection of models or view-models (e.g., IEnumerable<MyViewModel>) and get back an HTML table that uses the DisplayName attribute for the headings (th elements) and Html.Display(propertyName) for the cells (td elements). Each row should correspond to one item in the collection. When I'm only displaying a single record, as in a Details view, I use ViewData.ModelMetadata.Properties to obtain the list of properties for a given model. But what happens when the model I pass to the view is a collection of model or view-model objects and not a model or view-model itself? How do I obtain the ModelMetadata for a particular item in a collection?

I am storing a collection object which is organized as row wise taken from a resultset object and putting the collection object(which is stored as vector/array list) in cache and trying to retrieve the same collection object. Here i need to build back the resultset again using the collection object. Now my doubt is building the resultset in this way possible or not? Please let me know asap. Thanks in advance, Bhaskar

  • NHibernate IQueryable Collection as Property of Root

    - by Khalid Abuhakmeh
Hello and thank you for taking the time to read this. I have a root object that has a property that is a collection. For example : I have a Shelf object that has Books. // now public class Shelf { public ICollection<Book> Books {get; set;} } // want public class Shelf { public IQueryable<Book> Books {get;set;} } What I want to accomplish is to return a collection that is IQueryable so that I can run paging and filtering off of the collection directly from the the parent. var shelf = shelfRepository.Get(1); var filtered = from book in shelf.Books where book.Name == "The Great Gatsby" select book; I want to have that query executed specifically by NHibernate and not a get all to load a whole collection and then parse it in memory (which is what currently happens when I use ICollection). The reasoning behind this is that my collection could be huge, tens of thousands of records, and a get all query could bash my database. I would like to do this implicitly so that when NHibernate sees and IQueryable on my class it knows what to do. I have looked at NHibernates Linq provider and currently I am making the decision to take large collections and split them into their own repository so that I can make explicit calls for filtering and paging. Linq To SQL offers something similar to what I'm talking about.

  • Retrieve Value Using Key From a Collection in Access 2000

    - by Mikecancook
I know this is a simple question but it's aggravating me. If I have a key/value pair in a collection but I can't seem to get the value out using the key. I can get the key using the value but not vice versa. Is there some magical way to accomplish this? For example: Dim CycleList As Collection Dim Value as String Set CycleList = New Collection CycleList.Add 1, "Some Value" Value = CycleList(1) I've also tried CycleList.Item(1) and it's the same result, Value = 1.

  • Validating collection elements in WPF

    - by Chris
I would like to know how people are going about validating collections in WPF. Lets say for example that I have an observable collection of ViewModels that I am binding to the items source of a grid, and the user can add new rows to the grid and needs to fill them. First of all I need to validate on each row to ensure that required fields of each ViewModel are filled in. This is fine and simple to do for each row. However, the second level of validation is on the collection as a whole. For example i want to ensure that no two rows of the collection have the same identifier, or that no two rows have the same name. Im basically checking for duplicate properties within different rows. I also have more complex conditions where I must ensure that there is at least one item within the collection that has some property set. How do I get a validation rule that would allow me to check these rules, validating on the whole collection rather than the individual items. I also want to print any validation error above the datagrid so that the user can fix the problem and the message will update or disappear as the user fixes each different rule. Anyone have any experience of the proper way to do this? Thanks Chris

  • Generic FSM for game in C++ ?

    - by Mr.Gando
Hello, I was wondering if there's a way I could code some kind of "generic" FSM for a game with C++?. My game has a component oriented design, so I use a FSM Component. my Finite State Machine (FSM) Component, looks more or less this way. class gecFSM : public gecBehaviour { public: //Constructors gecFSM() { state = kEntityState_walk; } gecFSM(kEntityState s) { state = s; } //Interface void setRule(kEntityState initialState, int inputAction, kEntityState resultingState); void performAction(int action); private: kEntityState fsmTable[MAX_STATES][MAX_ACTIONS]; }; I would love to hear your opinions/ideas or suggestions about how to make this FSM component, generic. With generic I mean: 1) Creating the fsmTable from an xml file is really easy, I mean it's just a bunch of integers that can be loaded to create an MAX_STATESxMAX_ACTION matrix. void gecFSM::setRule(kEntityState initialState, int inputAction, kEntityState resultingState) { fsmTable[initialState][inputAction] = resultingState; } 2) But what about the "perform Action" method ? void gecFSM::performAction(int action) { switch( smTable[ ownerEntity->getState() ][ action ] ) { case WALK: /*Walk action*/ break; case STAND: /*Stand action*/ break; case JUMP: /*Jump action*/ break; case RUN: /*Run action*/ break; } } What if I wanted to make the "actions" and the switch generic? This in order to avoid creating a different FSM component class for each GameEntity? (gecFSMZombie, gecFSMDryad, gecFSMBoss etc ?). That would allow me to go "Data Driven" and construct my generic FSM's from files for example. What do you people suggest?

  • Does a System.Collection.Collection<T> wrap a IList<T> or enumerate over the IList<T> or simply wra

    - by Brian Triplett
If I am exposing a internal member via a Collection property via: public Collection<T> Entries { get { return new Collection<T>(this.fieldImplimentingIList<T>); } } When this property is called what happens? For example what happens when the following lines of code are called: T test = instanceOfAbove.Entries[i]; instanceOfAbove[i] = valueOfTypeT; It's clear that each time this property is called a new reference type is created but what acctually happens? Does it simply wrap the IList<T> underneath, does it enumerate over the IList<T> and to create a new Collection<T> instance? I'm concerned about performance if this property is used in a for loop.

  • Thread Safety of C# List<T> for readers

    - by ILIA BROUDNO
I am planning to create the list once in a static constructor and then have multiple instances of that class read it (and enumerate through it) concurrently without doing any locking. In this article http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/6sh2ey19.aspx MS describes the issue of thread safety as follows: Public static (Shared in Visual Basic) members of this type are thread safe. Any instance members are not guaranteed to be thread safe. A List can support multiple readers concurrently, as long as the collection is not modified. Enumerating through a collection is intrinsically not a thread-safe procedure. In the rare case where an enumeration contends with one or more write accesses, the only way to ensure thread safety is to lock the collection during the entire enumeration. To allow the collection to be accessed by multiple threads for reading and writing, you must implement your own synchronization. The "Enumerating through a collection is intrinsically not a thread-safe procedure." Statement is what worries me. Does this mean that it is thread safe for readers only scenario, but as long as you do not use enumeration? Or is it safe for my scenario?

  • Problem Render backbone collection using Mustache template

    - by RameshVel
I am quite new to backbone js and Mustache. I am trying to load the backbone collection (Object array) on page load from rails json object to save the extra call . I am having troubles rendering the backbone collection using mustache template. My model & collection are var Item = Backbone.Model.extend({ }); App.Collections.Items= Backbone.Collection.extend({ model: Item, url: '/items' }); and view App.Views.Index = Backbone.View.extend({ el : '#itemList', initialize: function() { this.render(); }, render: function() { $(this.el).html(Mustache.to_html(JST.item_template(),this.collection )); //var test = {name:"test",price:100}; //$(this.el).html(Mustache.to_html(JST.item_template(),test )); } }); In the above view render, i can able to render the single model (commented test obeject), but not the collections. I am totally struck here, i have tried with both underscore templating & mustache but no luck. And this is the Template <li> <div> <div style="float: left; width: 70px"> <a href="#"> <img class="thumbnail" src="http://placehold.it/60x60" alt=""> </a> </div> <div style="float: right; width: 292px"> <h4> {{name}} <span class="price">Rs {{price}}</span></h4> </div> </div> </li> and my object array kind of looks like this

  • Generic ASP.NET MVC Route Conflict

    - by Donn Felker
I'm working on a Legacy ASP.NET system. I say legacy because there are NO tests around 90% of the system. I'm trying to fix the routes in this project and I'm running into a issue I wish to solve with generic routes. I have the following routes: routes.MapRoute( "DefaultWithPdn", "{controller}/{action}/{pdn}", new { controller = "", action = "Index", pdn = "" }, null ); routes.MapRoute( "DefaultWithClientId", "{controller}/{action}/{clientId}", new { controller = "", action = "index", clientid = "" }, null ); The problem is that the first route is catching all of the traffic for what I need to be routed to the second route. The route is generic (no controller is defined in the constraint in either route definition) because multiple controllers throughout the entire app share this same premise (sometimes we need a "pdn" sometimes we need a "clientId"). How can I map these generic routes so that they go to the proper controller and action, yet not have one be too greedy? Or can I at all? Are these routes too generic (which is what I'm starting to believe is the case). My only option at this point (AFAIK) is one of the following: In the contraints, apply a regex to match the action values like: (foo|bar|biz|bang) and the same for the controller: (home|customer|products) for each controller. However, this has a problem in the fact that I may need to do this: ~/Foo/Home/123 // Should map to "DefaultwithPdn" ~/Foo/Home/abc // Should map to "DefaultWithClientId" Which means that if the Foo Controller has an action that takes a pdn and another action that takes a clientId (which happens all the time in this app), the wrong route is chosen. To hardcode these contstraints into each possible controller/action combo seems like a lot of duplication to me and I have the feeling I've been looking at the problem for too long so I need another pair of eyes to help out. Can I have generic routes to handle this scenario? Or do I need to have custom routes for each controller with constraints applied to the actions on those routes? Thanks

  • Dynamic casting using a generic interface

    - by Phil Whittaker
Hi Is there any way to cast to a dynamic generic interface.. Site s = new Site(); IRepository<Site> obj = (IRepository<s.GetType()>)ServiceLocator.Current.GetInstance(t) obviously the above won't compile with this cast. Is there anyway to do a dynamic cast of a generic interface. I have tried adding a non generic interface but the system is looses objects in the Loc container. Thanks Phil
