After pasting text in MS Word 2007, there is a little paste menu that you can click to change how the text was pasted. Is there a keyboard shortcut to open that menu?
I recently started using Firefox as my primary web browser, and I would like to change some of the default keyboard shortcuts, especially the ones used to switch between tabs. Can this be done?
I took a peek through the Firefox directory in "Application Support", as well as the application bundle itself, but nothing jumped out. Google searches have also proved fruitless.
Any help is appreciated!
Update: I'm running Firefox version 3.6 for Mac OS 10.6.2
I have a Microsoft Wireless Entertainment Keyboard 8000, and when the charger/usb-hub is connected, the computer won't start. All I get is the bios boot screen, and it won't go further. But if I disconnect either the usb-cable or the power-cable to the charger the computer boots normally.
Any suggestions as to what's causing this behaviour? I've tried the charger on two different computers with the same result.
Is there such keyboard shortcut can do page left/right? Or any 3rd party tools? The reason ask this is because when coding or debugging, there are too many chances need to read very long message, but I'd prefer not to wrap text. Thanks.
I just bought a backlit keyboard from a not so known brand. It doesnt have any good drivers. My issue is when I put my computer to sleep or even turn it off, all the leds underneath the keys stay on.
Is there some power management option that lets you turn this off? Thanks!
I'm searching for a solution to switch my keyboard layout in Windows globally for all windows quickly.
When I switch the current layout by pressing the magic combination Alt+Shift or when I choose another layout in the language bar, this only changes the layout in the current window.
The computer is a acer aspire 7720g laptop. When windows want me to input my password, the only keys working is caps lock, the numpad and the m key(and the m key works like a combined m and enter key). I did spill some water on the keyboard yesterday but the same thing happens with usb keyboards. I disabled the quick boot in the bios, making it go through every test at bootup, which resulted in continous beeping from the computer. Anyone know how to solve this?
I am able to get a diaeresis over a letter by Option+u (ë) and an acute accent by Option+e (é). Is there a keyboard shortcut to get both combined? So that the accent is over the letter with a diaeresis?
i have Mac OS SL installed on intel machine. My shortcut keys for Home, End, Copy, Paste and Undo are not working.

Is it possible to do the following in Ubuntu? If so can someone point me in the right direction.
Say you want to set a keyboard shortcut to do the following:
For examples sake, set Alt+F to open Firefox and maximize it, but only if Firefox is not already running. If it is running and not maximized, then maximize the most recently touched Firefox window. If it is maximized, then minimize Firefox.
Thanks, Joe
I am trying to use keyboard shortcuts more and more and have run across something I've not been able to figure out. If there is a text box on the page that I want to enter text into, how can I navigate to that field quickly without actually clicking on it with the mouse?
I know I can just start tabbing and eventually get to it
I've tried using Ctrl-F to find text near it and then tab to it
Any ideas?
I've got a USB hub with 4 ports, and I've plugged 2 usb keyboards and 2 usb mouses. They work very fine. I've setup'ed 2 monitors too, so I was thinking about the possibility of the mouse and keyboards works independent one of another. I want two mouse pointers (I think each with different colors) and 2 keyboard cursors.
I think it a nice idea, but I don't know if this is possible... :(
PS: My OS is Windows7
After I type CTRL-F in Internet Explorer 8 and type my query, how do I cycle through the results with the keyboard?
In Firefox, I would use CTRL-g. That doesn't work in IE8. It was also suggested to use F3, but that doesn't work either.
Thanks!
I'm writing a program that uses caps-lock as a toggle switch. It would be nice to set the LED of the key to show that my program is on or off, like the capslock key does naturally.
I know that I could just SendInput('Capslock'); or whatever to actually turn caps-lock on and off. But my app is a typing program, and I don't want to have to deal with translating the all-caps keys that turning it on would give me into their lower/upper cases. I might go that route eventually, but not for this version.
I would however be interested in just turning on the LED light WITHOUT actually turning on caps-lock. Is there any way to do that?
Thank you.
For some reason, after upgrading to 11.10, the tray icon drop-down menus don't persist after a single click about 2/3 of the time. They always work if I click-and-hold, but I'm used to just clicking once to examine the menu. The behavior is not consistent, so the drop down menus will stay after click about 1 in 3 times.
I'm running 64 bit Ubuntu on a dual-monitor setup.
EDIT: from lspci:

I'm tinkering around with anyremote and it's gtk client ganyremote and I wonder whether anyone knows how one might go about white-listing the ganyremote tray icon. I know where the white-list is stored in dconf, I just don't know what to put (anyremote, ganyremote, AnyRemote, gAnyRemote, etc...).
P.S.: I'm actually using pantheon's wingpanel rather than unity, put a assume that the principal is the same here.
I've recently upgraded my iMac to OSX Mavericks. I'm finding that when I press Control-Shift-N something is immediately locking my screen and making it dark. I can still hear my streaming audio playing, so I guess it's not logging me out. I've looked carefully through the list of keyboard shortcuts in System Preferences, and that key combo isn't mentioned anywhere.
Is there any place I can get a list of all active keyboard shortcuts? Is there any terminal command I can run to see which application has taken over this keypress combination? It's really annoying because I habitually use that combo in PHPStorm! (And yes, I have checked the keymaps there too.)
I am using Pico via Terminal/SSH on an iPad with a French bluetooth keyboard. There is no way to type the carat (^) key to select text (control-carat to start selection).
The carat on the keyboard is used to type a circonflex accent (août), and only becomes active when one types a letter after pressing it. There is therefore no way to type control-^.
When I do type ctrl-^ in Pico, the cursor moves to the previous line.
Is there an alternate way to select text in Pico? I can't see how to use it without finding a solution.
When using a code editor like Notepad++ or Eclipse I'm experiencing a rather annoying problem:
each time I type the < key the keyboard latches into some unexpected mode whereby the subsequent keypress behaves as if the alt key were being held down. The only way to return to normal mode is to hit the escape key twice immediately after I type a < character.
The keyboard is a Microsoft Comfort Curve 2000 and the OS is Windows 7.
Does anyone have any idea what I should do to stop this behaviour?
Thanks
Hello.
How do I make sure that the textview is shown and the keyboard is not obscuring the textview, while in landscape.
Using UICatalog I created a TextViewController which works. In it there are two methods for calling the keyboard and making sure that textView is positioned above the keyboard. his just works great in Portrait mode.
I got the Landscape mode working, but on the textView is still being put to the top of the iPhone to compensate for the keyboard in portrait mode.
I changed the methods for showing the keyboards.
Below is the code for this methods: (I will just let see the code for show, since the hide code will be the reverse..
- (void)keyboardWillShow:(NSNotification *)aNotification
{
UIInterfaceOrientation orientation = [[UIApplication sharedApplication] statusBarOrientation];
if (orientation == UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait) {
// the keyboard is showing so resize the table's height
CGRect keyboardRect = [[[aNotification userInfo] objectForKey:UIKeyboardBoundsUserInfoKey] CGRectValue];
NSTimeInterval animationDuration = [[[aNotification userInfo] objectForKey:UIKeyboardAnimationDurationUserInfoKey] doubleValue];
CGRect frame = self.view.frame;
frame.size.height -= keyboardRect.size.height;
[UIView beginAnimations:@"ResizeForKeyboard" context:nil];
[UIView setAnimationDuration:animationDuration];
self.view.frame = frame;
[UIView commitAnimations];
} else if (orientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeLeft) {
NSLog(@"Left"); // Verijderen later
CGRect keyboardRect = [[[aNotification userInfo] objectForKey:UIKeyboardBoundsUserInfoKey] CGRectValue];
NSTimeInterval animationDuration = [[[aNotification userInfo] objectForKey:UIKeyboardAnimationDurationUserInfoKey] doubleValue];
CGRect frame = self.view.frame;
frame.size.width -= keyboardRect.size.height;
[UIView beginAnimations:@"ResizeForKeyboard" context:nil];
[UIView setAnimationDuration:animationDuration];
self.view.frame = frame;
[UIView commitAnimations];
} else if (orientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight){
NSLog(@"Right"); // verwijderen later.
CGRect keyboardRect = [[[aNotification userInfo] objectForKey:UIKeyboardBoundsUserInfoKey] CGRectValue];
NSTimeInterval animationDuration = [[[aNotification userInfo] objectForKey:UIKeyboardAnimationDurationUserInfoKey] doubleValue];
CGRect frame = self.view.frame;
frame.size.width -= keyboardRect.size.width;
[UIView beginAnimations:@"ResizeForKeyboard" context:nil];
[UIView setAnimationDuration:animationDuration];
self.view.frame = frame;
[UIView commitAnimations];
}
}
I know that I have to change the line frame.size.height -= keyboardRect.size.height but I do not seem to get it working.
I tried frame.size.width -= keyboardRect.size.height that did not work. Losing the keyboardRect and frame all together work, however off course the keyboard obscures the textview........
Hello
I created my own custom keyboard following the the example in the sdk.
Now I would like to use this custom keyboard by default on my EditText in my app (actualy I have to long press the edittext and then choose my custom keyboard).
How can I do that ? (seems to be related to the inputType property but I can't find out how to set it)
Thanks !
I code WinForm application where one of the input is magnetic stripe card reader (CR). I am using code George Mamaladze's article Processing Global Mouse and Keyboard Hooks in C# on codeproject.com to listen keyboard (USB card reader acts same way as keyboard) and I have weird situation.
One card reader CR1 (Unitech MS240-2UG) produces keystroke which I intercept on KeyPress event analyze that I intercept certain patter like %ABCD-6EFJHI? and trigger some logic. Analysis required because user can type something else into application or in another application meanwhile my app is open
When I use another card reader CR2 (IdTech IDBM-334133) keystroke intercepted by hook started from number 5 instead of % (It is actually same key on keyboard). Since it is starting sentinel it is very important for me to have ability recognize input from card reader. Moreover if my app running in background and I have focus on Notepad when I swipe card string %ABCD-6EFJHI? appears in Notepad and same way, with proper starting character) intercepted by keyboard hook. If swiped when focus on Form it is 5ABCD-6EFJHI?
User who tried app with another card reader has same result as me with CR2. Only CR1 works for me as expected
I was looking into Device manager of Windows and both devices use same HID driver supplied by MS. I checked devices though respective software from CR makers and starting and ending sentinels set to % and ? respective on both.
I would appreciate and ideas and thoughts as I hit the wall myself
Thank you
I have a ListActivity based on an ArrayAdapter with setTextFilterEnabled set to true. This works fine on a device with a physical keyboard. When I start typing something on the keyboard, the items get filtered.
My question is how to get the same behavior on a device with no physical keyboard?
