  • Auto mount USB drive with permissions for all users

    I have an Ubuntu 14.04 based Media Center and I store the media files on a USB HDD. I add files to drive directly on a Mac so I have it formatted as FAT32. The problem is that after reconnecting the drive to the Ubuntu, it mounts at /media/user/drivename and only the root user is allowed access. I need several applications to have full access to this drive. I can change file permissions in the terminal but it doesn't change because of the /media/user location. I am able to manually sudo mount /dev/sdc1 /media/drivename & sudo chmod 777 /media/drivename but the mount point changes each time. Is there a way to make this drive always mount where root and other applications have access?

I have trouble with auto-rotating interfaces in my iPad app. I have a class called Switcher that observes the interface rotation notifications and when it receives one, it switches the view in window, a bit like this: - (void) orientationChanged: (NSNotification*) notice { UIDeviceOrientation newIO = [[UIDevice currentDevice] orientation]; UIViewController *newCtrl = /* something based on newIO */; [currentController.view removeFromSuperview]; // remove the old view [window addSubview newCtrl.view]; [self setCurrentController:newCtrl]; } The problem is that the new view does not auto-rotate.     Rails has all sorts of auto-generated methods that I've often times struggled to find documentation for. For example, in routes.rb, if I have: map.resources :projects do |p| p.resources :tasks end This will get a plethora of auto-generate path and url helpers. Where can I find documentation for how to work with these paths? I generally understand how to work with them, but more explicit docs might help me understand some of the magic that happens behind the scenes. # compare project_path(@project) project_task_path(@project, @task) # to project_path(:id => @project.id) project_task_path(:project_id => @project.id, :id => @task.id) Also, when I change an attribute on a model, @post.foo_changed? will be true. Where can I find documentation for this and all other magical methods that are created like this? If the magic is there, I'd love to take advantage of it. And finally: Is there a complete resource for config.___ statements for environment.rb? I was able to find docs for Configuration#gem but what attributes can I set within the stubs like config.active_record.___, config.action_mailer.___, config.action_controller.___, etc. Again, I'm looking for a complete resource here, not just a settings for the examples I provided. Even if you can only answer one of these questions, please chime in. These things seem to have been hiding from me and it's my goal to get them some more exposure, so I'll be upvoting all links to docs that point me to what I'm looking for. Thanks! ps, If they're not called auto-generated methods, I apologize. Someone can teach me a lesson here, too :) Edit I'm not looking for tutorials here, folks.   • Using "margin: 0 auto;" in Internet Explorer 8

    I'm in the process of doing some advance IE8 testing, and it seems that the old technique of using "margin: 0 auto;" doesn't work in all cases in IE8. The following piece of HTML gives a centered button in FF3, Opera, Safari, Chrome, IE7, and IE8 compat, but NOT in IE8 standard: <div style="height: 500px; width: 500px; background-color: Yellow;"> <input type="submit" style="display: block; margin: 0 auto;" /> </div> (As a work-around I can add an explicit width to the button). So the question is: which browsers are correct? Or is this one of those cases where the behaviour is undefined? (My thinking is that all the browsers are incorrect - shouldn't the button be 100% width if it's "display: block"?) UPDATE: I'm being a dunce. Since input isn't a block-level element, I should have just contained it within a div with "text-align: center". Having said that, for curiosity's sake, I'd still like to know whether the button should or shouldn't be centered in the example above. FOR THE BOUNTY: I know I'm doing odd things in the example, and as I point out in the update, I should have just aligned it center. For the bounty, I'd like references to the specs that answer: If I set "display: block", should the button be width 100%? Or is this undefined? Since the display is block, should "margin: 0 auto;" center the button, or not, or undefined?

  • Stack Overflows in the Eclipse JSP Editor

    When editing JSPs in Eclipse, I periodically get stack overflows. Once I get one, each time I click a character I get a pop-up telling me there was another stack overflow. This continues until I close the JSP and re-open it, at which time it's fine for a while. org.eclipse.jst.jsp.core.internal.parser.JSPSourceParser: input could not be parsed correctly at position 1 java.lang.StackOverflowError Has anyone else seen this issue, do you know the cause, and is there a way to fix it?

    Hi there, I have got a homework to hack program using buffer overflow ( with disassambling, program was written in C++, I haven't got the source code ). I have already managed it but I have a problem. I have to print some message on the screen, so I found out address of printf function, pushed address of "HACKED" and address of "%s" on the stack ( in this order ) and called that function. Called code passed well but nothing had been printed. I have tried to simulate the environment like in other place in the program but there has to be something wrong.     I have read in many places that integer overflow is well-defined in C unlike the signed counterpart. Is underflow the same? For example: unsigned int x = -1; // Does x == UINT_MAX? Thanks. I can't recall where, but i read somewhere that arithmetic on unsigned integral types is modular, so if that were the case then -1 == UINT_MAX mod (UINT_MAX+1).

    Hi I've been playing around with clojure and have been using it to build a simple little audio player. I never get the handling command in my log, so it must die when it does the tracks-by-album. so it does appear to be the tracks-by-album function from the stack trace. I just don't see why it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. I say that it's tracks-by-album because it's the only function (including it's children) that does filter, as can be seen in the trace. It's my little hobby project to learn clojure and so far it's quite buggy (this is just one bug :)) so I havn't really liked to tell too many people about it yet :)

  • How to prevent latex memory overflow

    I've got a latex macro that makes small pictures. In that picture I need to draw area. Borders of that area are quadratic bezier curves and that area is to be filled. I did not know how to do it so currently I'm "filling" the area by drawing a plenty of bezier curves inside it... This slows down typeseting and when a macro is used multiple times (so tex is drawing really a lot of quadratic bezier curves) it produces following error: ! TeX capacity exceeded, sorry [main memory size=3000000]. How can I prevent this error ? (by freeing memory after macro or such...) Or even better how do I fill the area determined by two quadratic bezier curves? Code that produces error: \usepackage{forloop} \usepackage{picture} \usepackage{eepic} ... \linethickness{\lineThickness\unitlength}% \forloop[\lineThickness]{cy}{\cymin}{\value{cy} < \cymax}{% \qbezier(\ax, \ay)(\cx, \value{cy})(\bx, \by)% }% Here are some example values for variables: \setlength{\unitlength}{0.01pt} \lineThickness=20 %cy is just a counter - inital value is not important \cymin=450 \cymax=900 %from following only the difference between \ax and \bx is important \ax=0 \ay=0 \bx=550 \by=0 Note: To reproduce the error this code have to execute approximately 150 times (could be more depending on your latex memory settings).
