  Trying again. On advice, adding the piece of code that I do understand. I am fine with the fact that I have to save 4 bits of information in two lines like so: IniFile.WriteString('TestSection','Name','Country'); IniFile.WriteString('TestSection','City','Street'); My question is more about loading this information back into the form. If in my IniFile I have saved for example the following code [TestSection] John=Uk London=barlystreet Mike=Spain Madrid=eduardostrata Emma=USA New York=1st Avenue Made up information in the IniFile. Added through the code above. Now my question is: How could I load for example, when I type in an edit box Mike, the rest of the belonging information.(Spain, Madrid,eduardostrata).

• Split string on non-alphanumerics in PHP? Is it possible with php's native function?

  I was trying to split a string on non-alphanumeric characters or simple put I want to split words. The approach that immediately came to my mind is to use regular expressions. Example: $string = 'php_php-php php'; $splitArr = preg_split('/[^a-z0-9]/i', $string); But there are two problems that I see with this approach. It is not a native php function, and is totally dependent on the PCRE Library running on server. An equally important problem is that what if I have punctuation in a word Example: $string = 'U.S.A-men's-vote'; $splitArr = preg_split('/[^a-z0-9]/i', $string); Now this will spilt the string as [{U}{S}{A}{men}{s}{vote}] But I want it as [{U.S.A}{men's}{vote}] So my question is that: How can we split them according to words? Is there a possibility to do it with php native function or in some other way where we are not dependent? Regards

  Hi, i came accross with a peculiar issue on my mobile site. some phones/gateways sends form post data as url encoded and a text such as "hey how are you?" in a form with method post stored in the db as "hey+how+are+you%3f" This is not the issue with many browsers but one single network from USA called Metro. I notice different phone models acting same way so i assue this is an issue with proxy/gateway. would simply putting _msg = HttpUtility.UrlDecode(_msg); solve my problem? any other suggestions?   I know I'll get into all kinds of trouble for bringing this up on SO, but considering that nearly all of us programmers depend on the Internet to get our jobs done, I really think it's worth looking into today's failure of our right to use the Internet by way of Lobbying ISPs. Although something tells me there will be retribution for the actions of the ISPs/tel cos/cable and their lobbyist since, lets face it...ISPs/Telcos didn't invent the Internet. I'm not going to be the one to do it, but um I think somebody already has...as everybody I talked to was having Internet connection problems today at work. Just thought this might be relevant to all of our jobs...in the U.S.A. at least. If you work at an Big evil ISPs, by all means...try and close this question. • Problem with layout of control when dynamically creating winform and controls for the Form

  I get this response from a web service call. Something like this <Response> <Control1 type = "DropdownList" value= "USA,UK,Sweden,UAE"/> <Control2 type = "Textbox" value= "Contries"/> <Control3 type = "Button" value= "None"> </Response> Based on this I de-serialize it into List<Controls>. Now I need to be able to dynamically create a winform based on these controls. My problem is the layout. I want to be able to create them nicely separated (If possible vertically aligned) in batches of lets say 5.So If I need 15 controls I have 3 columns and 5 rows. What would be best way to achieve this? I know that I can use the inbuilt positioning properties like top, width etc., but maybe someone out there has done something similar in a better way.

  Suppose we're making a system where we have to store the addrees for buildings, persons, cars, etc. The address 'format' should be something like: State (From a State list) County (From a County List) Street (free text, like '5th Avenue') Number (free text, like 'Chrysler Building, Floor 10, Office No. 10') (Yes I don't live in U.S.A) What would be the best way to store that info: Should I have a Person_Address, Car_Address, ... Or the address info should be in columns on each entity, Could we have just one address table and try to link each row to a different entity? Or are there another 'better' way to handle this type of scenario? How would yo do it?

  Hi I have several domains, only one website and one databse table for each domain. example: wbesite.us - data from USA goes to database table main_usa wbesite.co.uk - data form UK goes to database table main_uk Only have one database with name of the website. Having only one website structured, and having variables like $sql="select * from main_".$countrycode." where bla..bla..., and many other variables to catch the domain extension, and so on... Now, instead of having one full website for each domain, how can set a script and wher do I put it in order to detect the domain that the user uses. In my server root do I create something like website.$domain ? Something like website OLX but for different purposes. I hope I made myself clear. Thank you.

  There are examples online with web select boxes that have a huge list of countries and that probably will be good enough for me to use. However, by Murphy's law, there's bound to be some random country that someone is from and isn't on my list (and probably someone else also ran into this and has updated their local list). Also, when new countries are added, I won't know about it. Basically, I feel it's better practice and a better smell if there is some centralized list of country names that I can use / trust. (also it could set/follow standards for exact namings "United St..." vs "USA" etc.) I would prefer a solution that isn't IIS specific if possible

I have no control how and where the characters get displayed. I would like it to always begin on line 1 position 1 but as I said earlier how would I be able to do that. The same program if I run again and again it moves a character to the left. I have set it to accept ASCII char set and so I am able to type as is visble in the Writeline message

  Error: End tag for 'optgroup' which is not finished. You have probably failed to include a required child element. Hence the parent element is "not finished", not complete. I want to achieve something like this in select options. USA UK -- Afghanistan I want to put few important countries on top and then a non-selectable divider and then ordered list of remaining countries. I put this divider using empty 'optgroup'. While it works perfectly in all browser, I get validation error. What could be other approaches?

  I have a (potentially international) phone number. It may or may not have a country code prefix. Does anyone know of a database that will help me map phone number = time zone? I would even just like to map phone number = country, since I can probably create country = time zone by scraping existing data on the web. This is a more complicated problem than it looks; for example, how do I know if it's a US-based number -- e.g. is it a USA area code, or an international country calling code? Any language is fine; I can port it.

• Sharepoint Web performance optimization

  We are running on SSL on following server topology: 1 ISA (SSL Terminate/cache/proxy+AD authentication) 1 Sharepoint 1 IBM DB2 Database as enterprise/corporate DB 1 MS SQL Server as local DB We have recently optimized the caching, compression, minification, and other ASP.net best practices such as viewstate and cookie sizes, minimizing round trips, parallel connections/domain sharding and a lot more.... Now we are not convinced that the we are in an optimized position as the network resources i.e. bandwidth and especially latency are out of our control!! The client/browser to server/sharepoint is trans-Atlantic i.e. (ASIA, USA, EUROPE). As of my understanding the only ways to improve the network (latency) are: - TCP/SSL optimization - hardware/software? - CDNs - cloud or our own ? This procedure must be repeated for each MS SQL Server installation that will be involved in a distributed transaction.To install stored procedures for JTA:1. Copy the appropriate sqljdbc.dll and instjdbc.sql files from the WL_HOME\server\lib directory to the SQL_Server_Root/bin directory of the MS SQL Server database server, where WL_HOME is the directory in which WebLogic server is installed, typically c:\Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_10.x.  Note:  If you are installing stored procedures on a database server with multiple Microsoft SQL Server instances, each running SQL Server instance must be able to locate the sqljdbc.dll file.Therefore the sqljdbc.dll file needs to be anywhere on the global PATH or on the application-specific path. For the application-specific path, place the sqljdbc.dll file into the :\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$\Binn directory for each instance. 2. From the database server, use the ISQL utility to run the instjdbc.sql script. As a precaution, have your system administrator back up the master database before running instjdbc.sql. At a command prompt, use the following syntax to run instjdbc.sql:  ISQL -Usa -Psa_password -Sserver_name -ilocation\instjdbc.sql  where:  sa_password is the password of the system administrator.  server_name is the name of the server on which SQL Server resides.  location is the full path to instjdbc.sql. (You copied this script to the SQL_Server_Root/bin directory in step 1.)  The instjdbc.sql script generates many messages. In general, these messages can be ignored; however, the system administrator should scan the output for any messages that may indicate an execution error. The last message should indicate that instjdbc.sql ran successfully. The script fails when there is insufficient space available in the master database to store the JDBC XA procedures or to log changes to existing procedures.

  A figura abaixo oferece uma visão geral das possibilidades de monitoramento providas pelo Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), que é uma ferramenta que permite gerenciar a infraestrutura de TI da empresa. Um componente importante da solução é chanado OEM Grid Control. Esse componente permite gerenciar, visualizar e monitorar diversos elementos a partir de uma mesma console. E que elementos podem ser monitorados? No conceito utilizado pelo OEM, os elementos que podem ser monitorados são chamados de Targets, e esses targets envolvem a monitoração de hosts (Windows, Linux, Solaris), Banco de Dados, Middleware, Aplicações Web, Serviços que podem ser customizados pelo administrador, Sistemas e Grupos de targets, além dos aplicativos Oracle. Cada elemento monitorado é ativado através de packs de gerenciamento. Ou seja, há uma série de packs que podem ser adquiridas conforme a necessidade, para permitir a monitoração a partir do próprio OEM Grid Control. Existem packs de monitoramento especiais para banco de dados Oracle, packs de monitoramento para Tomcat, Jboss, WebLogic, SOA Suite, Identity Management. Os plugins permitem o gerenciamento de elementos adicionais, tais como dispositivos de rede, servidores, banco de dados de terceiros (DB2, SQL Server), Vmware, etc. Já os conectores permitem a integração com outros softwares, tais como gerenciadores de requisições de helpdesk, de modo a integrar os alertas gerados pela ferramenta e gerar tickets em ferramentas como CA Service Desk, BMC Remedy e outros. A extensão de funcionalidades é realmente bem vasta. Num próximo post irei comentar sobre o Ops Center, um novo componente que surgiu após a aquisição da Sun. Além do Grid Control e do Ops Center, há outros componentes bem interessantes. A figura abaixo ilustra diversas camadas onde o ferramental Oracle pode ser usado para monitoração. Há uma pack que permite gerenciar os níveis de serviços em todas as camadas ilustradas. Dada uma requisição, pode-se decompor os dados de SLA em cada camada. E há também o Real User Monitoring, que trata de medir a experiência com o usuário. Falarei disso num novo post, mas basicamente a ferramenta permite acompanhar todo o tráfego de rede gerado dos usuários finais até os servidores web, e com isso rastrear como cada usuário usa a aplicação, quanto tempo ele navega pelo site, se ele enfrentou algum tipo de problema, se houve algum pedido não finalizado devido a algum problema na infraestrutura. É uma ferramenta bem interessante, falarei um pouco mais dela depois. E claro, há também componentes para a realização de testes funcionais e de carga. Em breve, aqui no blog :)
