  I've run into a really weird issue. I was debugging a server 500 error script on our EC2 instance and found that we didn't have ioncube loaders installed. So I went to go install them and I created a new file at /etc/php.d/zend.ini and initially I inserted the value of extension=/usr/local/ioncube/ioncube_loader_lin_5.3.so and restarted httpd at which point it told me: The ionCube Loader is a Zend-Engine extension and not a module Please specify the Loader using 'zend_extension' in php.ini PHP Fatal error: Unable to start ionCube Loader module in Unknown on line 0 So I changed the contents of zend.ini to zend_extension=/usr/...etc. Now when I attempt to restart httpd I get this error: Starting httpd: (98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address [::]:80 (98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address 0.0.0.0:80 no listening sockets available, shutting down Unable to open logs I can't even run /etc/init.d/httpd stop without it erroring. I've since removed zend.ini to see if that's what caused it and it doesn't seem to be. Any ideas?

• How to have 2 windows machines on the same network with the same IP address

  I have a custom made ADC device that is spitting out data by addressed UDP packets. I have that device plugged into a 4 port switch. I have one windows embedded standard 7 machine which is the normal recipient of that data. To be able to receive the data (Using LabVIEW) the windows network adapter IPv4 settings must have a static IP address that corresponds to the UDP packet destination. I would like to add a second windows machine (This one is just regular Win 7 Pro) to simultaneously catch the data, however with all devices connected to the switch, the Win 7 Pro machine recognizes an IP address conflict and will not take the setting for the required static IP address. (The network adaptor settings show that the correct value has been entered but ipconfig shows that it is not actually set.) Neither windows machine needs to transmit network data, they only need to be able to receive the UDP data from the ADC device. Is there any way to disable this IP address conflict detection 'feature' of windows networking?

• OS X - forwarding external port to local loopback address

  I have an HTTP service bound to port 8000 that I want to access from another computing on the network, but I can't seem to connect using the external IP address of the machine (e.g. 192.168.0.105). I've checked the OS X firewall isn't running, so I'm assuming the issue is the service is only bound to the IP address 127.0.0.1, and not the external IP address. What would be the easiest way to temporarily forward external connections on port 8000 to 127.0.0.1:8000?

  i know how IP basically works, and knows that an IP address composed of a network ID portion and a host ID portion, but when I type a IP address ,say "8.8.8.8" into the web browser, i DIDN'T supply any subnet mask information, so how does the browser know where the dividing line is between the network ID and host ID? since 8.8.8.8 may mean 8.8.8.8/8, 8.8.8.8/24 etc. In a nutshell, the IP address I supplied is ambiguous.

• Routing based on source address in Windows Server 2008 R2

  I'm implementing a direct routing load balanced solution using Windows Server 2008 R2 as back-end server. I've configured a loopback interface with the external IP address. This works, I am receiving packets with the external IP address and respond to them appropriately. However our infrastructure requires that traffic which is being load-balanced should go through a different gateway then any other traffic originating from the server, ie. updates etc. So basicly I need to route packets based on source address (external IP) to another gateway. The built-in Windows 'route' command allows routing based on destination address only. I've tried setting a default gateway on the loopback interface and mangled with weak/strong host send/receive parameters on the interfaces, however this didn't work. Is there any way around this, possibly using third party tools?

Is it possible and how i add new ip address. When i add a new ip address directly in the cluster, and i do a telnet on the 1433 port with the new cluster ip address it's not working. Thanks

  To test a load balancer I need to switch my ip address several time a day, and keep other ips routing trough other Wans.   I have heard it suggested that we set up a special email address, with it's only purpose being to be harvested. Then blacklisting every sender that targets this address. I'm wondering: if anyone else has tried this how do you go about doing it (ie - put the address in a hidden field on your website - or better ways?) does it work? Is there anything to watch out for when trying this (ie. legitimate senders using harvested addresses?)

  When I sign up for an account with a domain name registrar like 10dollar.ca, it asks for my address and phone number. Will these show up when someone does a WHOIS lookup on my domain name? I noticed that when you do a WHOIS lookup on some websites (e.g. http://www.chrismanieri.ca), no address/phone number comes up. I want mine to be like that, too (don't want my address/phone number exposed to the public).

  I have a chat server running on my local machine that listens to different ports. I want to use the sub-domain of one of my accounts to access it. I intend to manually change the redirect whenever my local machine gets a different ip address. So: chat.example.com:123 would redirect to dynamic.ip.address:123 I am trying to accomplish this with .htaccess and RewriteRule I have tried: RewriteEngine on RewriteRule ^(.*) http://dynamic.ip.address/ [L, R=302] but this doesn't work. When I try chat.example.com:123 nothing happens. When I input chat.example.com into the web browser, I get dynamic.ip.address Is .htaccess the right tool for this? I am using a simple web host that gives me ssh access, but not much more.

• Exchange 2010 Prevent Authenticated Users From Sending Email From Any Address

  I have recently been combating an SMTP AUTH attack in which one of my email accounts had been compromised and was being used to solicit spam. I have been able to identify the account and change the password however I would like to further restrict my exchange server. By default exchange 2010 allows for any authenticated user to specify any email address as the MAIL FROM address and it will accept it. Is there any way to restrict this so that only the authenticated account's email address will be able to be used as the MAIL FROM address? I have been looking through all ADPermissions for the SMTP connector however I can't find any documentation on how to accomplish this. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.   I'm getting the mesage regulary inside mail.log from postfix. In special, but not only, at mails send received mailman. warning: hostname localhost does not resolve to address ::1: No address associated with hostname ::1 as well as 127.0.0.1 are defined as localhost inside /etc/hosts -- as provided by openVZ. • Opening up a link in a new tab in Firefox doesn't show address

  Sometimes for some reason, connection to a new link/address takes a long time to establish. In Firefox 11.0, the address bar will keep showing "about:blank". I take this as normal, and let me know if it isn't. If the connection is stopped for some reason, I will not be able to find out the address that I was trying to connect to. I wonder how to find out that address, both before and after the connection is stopped at "about:blank"? Thanks and regards!

  I am trying to redirect www.domain.com or domain.com to www.domain.com/temp.html I am using the following code: RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^.*$ RewriteRule ^/?$ "http\:\/\/www\.domain\.com\/temp\.html" [R=301,L] That works however I do not want to redirect IP. So if someone types in the static IP of the domain then I do not want them to be redirected to www.domain.com/temp.html Anyone have the code to take care of this?

  Ok this is somenthing unbelievable, we have a website, users sign up and receives links to confirm they signed up BUT: 1 - microsoft blocked our IP (no one with microsoft email account can receive our emails) 2 - we tryed contacting microsoft submitting the detailed form about our problem 3 - we posted 3 times in their community about our problem 4 - we tweeted they about our problem 5 - we tryed finding out some telephone support number (the few there are arent' helping at all) Do you think we solved? the answer is NO :/ We still unable to send emails from our IP to microsoft email accounts, since 3 months back. Our emails are perfect we checked all the email headers following microsoft guidelines but it seems not enought, checking our IP reputation it seems everythings ok, indeed we can send email easly to any other provider , gmail, yahoo, etc Do you know any other way to try to get help ? • Does Google treat AWS IP addresses as related?

  We are hosting several websites on one of our servers, and wondering if because they are on the same subnet that they have been somehow penalized. We are not inter-linking between websites. However in an attempt to have everything hosted in AWS, we will have some sites that we do want to be interlinked. If the sites resided on the same subnet, this could be bad. However, with AWS, we can allocate multiple elastic IP addresses that do reside on different subnets. How does Google deal with this?

• Why is "googlehosted.com" in the DNS records for our website after signing up for DDOS protection?

  Recently we had to get some DDOS protection for our website because of the large attacks we were seeing after getting a bit of popularity. We handed over our domain and hosting information to our DDOS protection provider. It worked perfectly but I have a question. On our DNS records we have the Host and Answer and Type. The host has our domain name there. The answer is this: SOMETEXTXXXX.dv.googlehosted.com. And when I copy and paste it into my browser it gives me a 404 error. But our website still loads and functions as it should. I don't understand why it would need this? I asked them about this and they said it is a method for DDOS protection and the other IPs are the reverse proxy (the other IPs give a 404 error too). Can anyone expand on this more please. How does all this tie in together and make the internet browser know where to point the person with all these reverse proxies and stuff I don't understand. Here is an image for reference:

• Do Spambots have access to unlimited IP addresses?

  I have been attacked for weeks by the same spambot trying to brute force the login page. I have a login security module now installed on my Drupal 6 website and it bans on IP after x amount of attempts. It's been going on for ever and I have banned about 1000 IP addresses. Is there any point in me banning on IP due to the spambot having access to unlimited IP addresses or will they run out of them eventually?

  I'm trying to figure out whether I should set up a honeypot system with a fake phpMyAdmin (site gets hits all the time with people spidering for insecurities with that app). My thought was to create a honeypot php script that would mimic a phpMyAdmin login, and then blacklist ips that hit that url (and aren't already whitelisted). I would then add the appropriate urls to the robots.txt so that spiders that actually respect my robots.txt wouldn't be caught by the blacklist. Are there disadvantages to this approach, do legit robots sometimes not respect robots.txt in certain circumstances, are there any problems with this that I should consider in advance?

• Converting IPv4 or IPv6 address to a long for comparisons

  In order to check if an IPv4 or IPv6 address is within a certain range, I've got code that takes an IPv4 address, turns that into a long, then does that same conversion on the upper/lower bound of the subnet, then checks to see if the long is between those values. • Django: Geocoding an address on form submission?

  Trying to wrap my head around django forms and the django way of doing things. I want to create a basic web form that allows a user to input an address and have that address geocoded and saved to a database. I created a Location model: class Location(models.Model): address = models.CharField(max_length=200) city = models.CharField(max_length=100) state = models.CharField(max_length=100, null=True) postal_code = models.CharField(max_length=100, null=True) country = models.CharField(max_length=100) latitude = models.DecimalField(max_digits=18, decimal_places=10, null=True) longitude = models.DecimalField(max_digits=18, decimal_places=10, null=True) And defined a form: class LocationForm(forms.ModelForm): class Meta: model = models.Location exclude = ('latitude','longitude') In my view I'm using form.save() to save the form. This works and saves an address to the database. I created a module to geocode an address. I'm not sure what the django way of doing things is, but I guess in my view, before I save the form, I need to geocode the address and set the lat and long. How do I set the latitude and longitude before saving?
