• Changing printer preferences in Windows programmatically

  I've written a script that installs several printers for a new user. I want to change the settings on some of these so that they can print on both sides of the page. I BELIEVE this involves modifying an attribute with printui, however it might need VB script or possibly another .NET language (I'd either use VB, C# or IronPython). I can add a comment to a given printer, but how do I select preferences and modify them? Pseudocode would look like this: printui.exe /n printername /??? [how to change quality desired] OR calls to the relevant Windows API.

  Hello First and foremost. I'm totally new to "programming" in Excel. I'm trying to make a price calculator, that calculates the price when I use my printer. I have made some lists so it's easy to perform the calculations. Single or duplex: Singlex/Duplex Format: SRA3 / A4 / SRA3 High Gloss The idea is that if I type in an amount of 100 prints, choose SRA3 format on the list, and choose Duplex on the other list. the calculation would look like this: This is how it's calculated: Paper + (print x sides) = Price of the print job Print prices Per page (singlex or duplex): 0,6 Paper format and price: A4 reg. paper: 0,2 SRA3 High Gloss: 1,25 SRA3 reg. paper: 1 Does anyone know about this???

• Some little extra space is being added when a drop-down is on :focus

  My problem is that when I place :focus style for our dropdown lists like so: input, select { margin: 0; padding: 0; } select:focus { background: #FFC; } ...the dropdown with the focused selection suddenly has an extra spacing on all sides (1-2px spacing). See images below: It may seem unnoticable on the photos above but when you do a selection, the increase in padding/spacing cannot be missed. I already tried removing margin: 0, padding: 0, thinking that the :focus state might be reverting to the padded version but still the same. Has anybody encountered this problem? Only happens in Firefox.

• Can I assume Flash and PHP will generate the same floating point numbers?

  In a multiplayer game I'm developing, we have a few values that are floating point numbers. The back-end (in PHP) and the front-end (in Flash) occasionally perform the same calculations on these numbers, to minimize communication. I am currently making sure that both sides are using 64-bit doubles, but am I safe to assume that all calculations will be the same? For instance, what about string to float conversion - should I worry about Flash having a potentially different implementation as PHP? (If this happens, our game will go out of sync - the client will think it is in one state while the server is in another) With some testing, it appears to be the same, but I'm just not sure. Can someone clarify this for me?

• Pygame - Different sided collision question!

  Hi there everyone! I'm making a Pygame of, basically, "Breakout". I'm using collisions, and want a simple way to have different bounce effects of the different sides of one rectangle. What I currently have for the ball-to-bat collision is this: "dot" = ball; "bat" = bat; so you all understand. if dot.rect.colliderect(bat.rect):<br> dot.dy *= -1 I'd like something that interacts with each side, so could reverse the self.dx value of the ball when it hits the side of the bat, and only reversing the self.dy value when it strikes the top.   i am trying to flip a pentahex (5 hexagons joined at their sides). Is it possible to do so in Java? I mean suppose 2 of the 3 hexagons are in one quadrant can I change their quadrant? It is similar to what we do to flip images in Paint. The same utility I am trying to perform in Java. I have heard about Affine transform wherein it makes use of a bit called TYPE_FLIP, but I am not sure how to use it. Any small example would be of great help. Note: I do not want to flip images, but actual 2D objects.

• Generate a matrix of all possible outcomes for throwing n dice (ignoring order)

  In cases where order does matter, it's rather easy to generate the matrix of all possible outcomes. One way for doing this is using expand.grid as shown here. What if it doesn't? If I'm right, the number of possible combinations is (S+N-1)!/S!(N-1)!, where S is the number of dice, each with N sides numbered 1 through N. (It is different from the well known combinations formula because it is possible for the same number to appear on more than one dice). For example, when throwing four six-sided dice, N=6 and S=4, so the number of possible combinations is (4+6-1)!/4!(6-1)! = 9!/4!x5! = 126. How can I generate a matrix of these 126 possible outcomes? • Hiding iAds when loading?

  I'm trying to make an ios app with an iAd in the bottom but lifted a little bit. It actually woks ok but when the iAd is loading it shows an white area just below where the iAd should be. When its done loading the iAd jumps up in the right position. I think normaly the button is loaded outside the screen and nthen pop ups when done but because mine add is liftet a little I can see the loading area... Is there a way to make the iAd load in the sides instead and then popin from the side? Here is what I have so far: frame.origin.x = ( _screenWidth - frame.size.width ) / 2; if( calculateForBannerOnBottom ) frame.origin.y = _screenHeight - (frame.size.height/1.2); else frame.origin.y = -_adView.frame.size.height+(frame.size.height/2.4); Hoping 4 help and thanks in advance :-)

  I am trying to implement CSRF protection in an app built using node.js using the express.js framework. The app makes abundant use of Ajax post calls to the server. I understand that the connect framework provides CSRF middleware, but I am not sure how to implement it in the scope of client-side Ajax post requests. There are bits and pieces about this in other Questions posted here in stackoverflow, but I have yet to find a reasonably complete example of how to implement it from both the client and server sides. Does anyone have a working example they care to share?

• "Othello" game needs some clarification

  I am trying to see if my understanding of "othello" fame is correct or not. According to the rules, we flip the dark/light sides if we get some sequence like X000X = XXXXX. The question I have is if in the process of flipping 0-X or X- 0, do we also need to consider the rows/columns/diagonals of newly flipped elements? e.g. consider board state as shown in above image(New element X is placed @ 2,3) When we update board, we mark elements from 2,3 to 6,3 as Xs but in this process elements like horizontal 4,3 to 4,5 and diagonal 2,3 to 4,5 are also eligible for update? so do we update those elements as well? or just the elements which have starting as 2,3 (i.e update rows/column/diagonal whose starting point is the element we are dealing with, in our case 2,3?) Please help me understand it

• What is the absolute fastest way to implement a concurrent queue with ONLY one consumer and one producer?

  java.util.concurrent.ConcurrentLinkedQueue comes to mind, but is it really optimum for this two-thread scenario? I am looking for the minimum latency possible on both sides (producer and consumer). If the queue is empty you can immediately return null AND if the queue is full you can immediately discard the entry you are offering. Does ConcurrentLinkedQueue use super fast and light locks (AtomicBoolean) ? Has anyone benchmarked ConcurrentLinkedQueue or knows about the ultimate fastest way of doing that? Additional Details: I imagine the queue should be a fair one, meaning the consumer should not make the consumer wait any longer than it needs (by front-running it) and vice-versa.

• Background image JFrame with content

  I have a JFrame with BorderLayout, there are panels on all sides (North, East ,...). In the panels there are labels and buttons mostly. Now I want the frame to have a background image, some research told me that i had to change the content pane of my frame. When I try this however, the content gets put in the background and isn't visible. Also, I don't know how to resize the image if the frame is resized. Is there an easy fix for this or will I have to rework most of my code?

• QT Question - What are all these extra spaces for ? (pic provided)

  stack overflow wont let me post images so heres the link: http://4m0.org/images/qt.png This is my application. For this question, ignore the top part with the buttons. I have a QScrollArea Filled with many QGroupBoxes Filled with a horizontal box layout of QLabel (on the left) and QGroupBox (on the right) The right side is a vertical box layout of QPushButtons Every single element, the scrollarea, both boxes, the labels, and the buttons all have their style sheets modified so padding is 0px and margin is 0px. Why do i have all this extra space? The scroll area has space on all sides until its inner elements (the blue boxes) start. Then those boxes have space until its inner elements (the white boxes) start. Can someone tell me what is going on?

• Affine Transforms with Demo App

  I have a demo app here https://github.com/rdetert/image-transform-test After importing an image, you can pinch, zoom, rotate the image. What I want to do is save out a 640x480 image (landscape mode) that looks identical to the live preview. So if there are 100px bars of empty space on the sides, I need the same empty bars in the final output (scaled appropriately). This is proving to be more difficult than I thought it would be. I can't quite get it to come out right after days of working on it. The magic method that generates the final image is called -(void)generateFinalImage Good luck! ;)

  Hi, Basically, I have a listbox which contains a set of listboxitem (stacked horizontally). On selected listboxitem, there will be dropshadoweffect applied to the border of the listboxitem. The problem i am having at the moment is the dropshadopeffect on the left hand side is covering (on top of) the left listboxitem. This is fine for me, however the dropshadoweffect on the right hand side of the listboxitem is covered by (below) the right listboxitem. Is there a way to make them consistent? so that both sides' dropshadoweffect will appear on top of the left and right listboxitems. Please let me know if you need more information. Any help would be appreciated.

  I have my application that is displaying images with different ratio, resized inside (centerInside) imageView. What I need is to create bitmap from the ImageView including the background (black in this case). So for example I have device screen 320x480, full screen imageView with image resized to 280x480. How could I get 320x480 bitmap from it? On top of this imageview I have some logos or buttons that I don't want to include to bitmap, they're like on top layer. All I need is bitmap with image and black border from some sides.

  I am new to VBA and I am struggling trying to make this work. I am in need of a macro that will process each cell\column on Sheet1 and put the results on Sheet2. I'm sure this is pretty easy for those who are more advanced with VB code. It contains many columns.. Anytime we encounter a — or an empty cell, we populate the cell with -999 (see the example on Sheet2) on the first column, which contains "0-2". Then we create 2 new columns and populate them with 0 on the first column and 2 on second column (see example on Sheet2). If a value is found on only one side, we then populate both sides with the same number. • Many-to-Many Relationship (with properties) in Google App Engine for Java

  I understand from the official documentation on unowned relationships that the app must use sets of Key objects on either side of the relationship. This makes perfect sense. Coming from many years of RDBM-style programming, though, I'm pretty confused about how I can model properties of that relationship itself. For example, if I have entities Category and Entry in my many-to-many relationship and would like to persist a dateAdded property, or some other data that are only relevant when both sides of the relationship are known. I suppose it would be possible to create a third class : CategoryEntry that links the two, but this seems like a kludge. What is the proposed way to model this kind of situation ?

• How do you know how much space an NSString (using default font) will occupy on a UITableView section

  Basically I want to copy the behavior in iPhone's Calendar where the day of week (Mon, Tue, Wed) is on the left side of the table's section header (left justified) while the formatted date (Apr 1, 2010, May 1, 2010) based on locale is on the right side of the table's section header (right justified). I was thinking of inserting a variable amount of space in between the day of week and formatted date but I first need to know the actual space consumed by the text on both sides to figure out how much space to add.   I have to tessellate some surface in OpenGL with rectangular textures. Let it be a single triangle for simplicity. The textures touch each other by sides, and do not overlap. That is done by setting GL_TEXTURE_WRAP_S and GL_TEXTURE_WRAP_T to GL_CLAMP_TO_BORDER and adjusting texture coords properly. Everything goes fine while GL_TEXTURE_MIN_FILTER and GL_TEXTURE_MAG_FILTER is set to GL_NEAREST, but when I want to apply GL_LINEAR filering and/or anisotropic filtering following arifact apperas: textures border pixel's alpha gradually fall to transparent, so that line of background color is visible between neighbouring textures. How can I avoid this artifact without merging multiple textures to one while linear filtering is preserved?

• Bootstrap site mobile view not using full viewport

  I'm currently making a responsive blog using the bootstrap 3.0 framework. I'm using the 1197 Max-width container for my content and it renders fine on desktops. However, when I try opening the site on my phone (I'm using an Android Galaxy Note 2), there is a lot of extra padding on the right and left sides of the viewport. I've tried following the API docs and guides as close as possible, but still can't get this to work. Here is the site I am working on http://www.justinbar.net Does anyone know what is going on with this? Am I doing something wrong, or do I need to override default behavior (which sounds a bit hacky to me).
