  • How to set size for divs with different parents

    - by user340524
    I want to create a div layout which is similiar to the following table result: <html> <head> <title>Basic</title> <style> table { border: 1px solid;} </style> </head> <body> <table style="border: 1px solid;"> <tr> <td> Asia</td> <td> <table> <tr> <td>South Asia</td> </td> <td><table> <tr> <td>Republic</td> <td><table> <tr><td>Singapore</td></tr> <tr><td>India</td></tr> </table></td> </tr> <tr> <td>Monarchy</td> <td><table> <tr><td>Bhutan</td></tr> <tr><td>Nepal</td></tr> </table></td> </tr> </table></td> </tr> <tr> <td>East Asia</td> <td><table> <tr> <td>Republic</td> <td><table> <tr><td>China</td></tr> <tr><td>South Corea</td></tr> </table></td> </tr> <tr> <td>Constitutional Monarchy</td> <td><table> <tr><td>something</td></tr> <tr><td>Japan</td></tr> </table></td> </tr> </table></td> </tr> </table></td> </tr> </table> </body> </html> I managed to replicate this with some effort. The problem is that I want the names of the countries to be in a column or if you will - the containers for the government types to be the same width so other containers will align. If I don't do it in nested containers (in the example - nested tables) the rows will get displaced. Currently rows are shown exactly how I want them - the text is in the vertical middle of the what they refer to. Only thing that comes up to my mind is to set the text in the same columns as class=column1, class=column2, etc. and then somehow define the width for the column classes. Problem is the data is defined dynamically and I can't say how much pixels or % of the page I can give to a column, I just need it to stretch with the text. This is my first time I ask about help here so if I am doing it wrong, tell me how do improve my inquiry.

  • Security Issues with Single Page Apps

    - by Stephen.Walther
    Last week, I was asked to do a code review of a Single Page App built using the ASP.NET Web API, Durandal, and Knockout (good stuff!). In particular, I was asked to investigate whether there any special security issues associated with building a Single Page App which are not present in the case of a traditional server-side ASP.NET application. In this blog entry, I discuss two areas in which you need to exercise extra caution when building a Single Page App. I discuss how Single Page Apps are extra vulnerable to both Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) attacks and Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) attacks. This goal of this blog post is NOT to persuade you to avoid writing Single Page Apps. I’m a big fan of Single Page Apps. Instead, the goal is to ensure that you are fully aware of some of the security issues related to Single Page Apps and ensure that you know how to guard against them. Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) Attacks According to WhiteHat Security, over 65% of public websites are open to XSS attacks. That’s bad. By taking advantage of XSS holes in a website, a hacker can steal your credit cards, passwords, or bank account information. Any website that redisplays untrusted information is open to XSS attacks. Let me give you a simple example. Imagine that you want to display the name of the current user on a page. To do this, you create the following server-side ASP.NET page located at http://MajorBank.com/SomePage.aspx: <%@Page Language="C#" %> <html> <head> <title>Some Page</title> </head> <body> Welcome <%= Request["username"] %> </body> </html> Nothing fancy here. Notice that the page displays the current username by using Request[“username”]. Using Request[“username”] displays the username regardless of whether the username is present in a cookie, a form field, or a query string variable. Unfortunately, by using Request[“username”] to redisplay untrusted information, you have now opened your website to XSS attacks. Here’s how. Imagine that an evil hacker creates the following link on another website (hackers.com): <a href="/SomePage.aspx?username=<script src=Evil.js></script>">Visit MajorBank</a> Notice that the link includes a query string variable named username and the value of the username variable is an HTML <SCRIPT> tag which points to a JavaScript file named Evil.js. When anyone clicks on the link, the <SCRIPT> tag will be injected into SomePage.aspx and the Evil.js script will be loaded and executed. What can a hacker do in the Evil.js script? Anything the hacker wants. For example, the hacker could display a popup dialog on the MajorBank.com site which asks the user to enter their password. The script could then post the password back to hackers.com and now the evil hacker has your secret password. ASP.NET Web Forms and ASP.NET MVC have two automatic safeguards against this type of attack: Request Validation and Automatic HTML Encoding. Protecting Coming In (Request Validation) In a server-side ASP.NET app, you are protected against the XSS attack described above by a feature named Request Validation. If you attempt to submit “potentially dangerous” content — such as a JavaScript <SCRIPT> tag — in a form field or query string variable then you get an exception. Unfortunately, Request Validation only applies to server-side apps. Request Validation does not help in the case of a Single Page App. In particular, the ASP.NET Web API does not pay attention to Request Validation. You can post any content you want – including <SCRIPT> tags – to an ASP.NET Web API action. For example, the following HTML page contains a form. When you submit the form, the form data is submitted to an ASP.NET Web API controller on the server using an Ajax request: <!DOCTYPE html> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <title></title> </head> <body> <form data-bind="submit:submit"> <div> <label> User Name: <input data-bind="value:user.userName" /> </label> </div> <div> <label> Email: <input data-bind="value:user.email" /> </label> </div> <div> <input type="submit" value="Submit" /> </div> </form> <script src="Scripts/jquery-1.7.1.js"></script> <script src="Scripts/knockout-2.1.0.js"></script> <script> var viewModel = { user: { userName: ko.observable(), email: ko.observable() }, submit: function () { $.post("/api/users", ko.toJS(this.user)); } }; ko.applyBindings(viewModel); </script> </body> </html> The form above is using Knockout to bind the form fields to a view model. When you submit the form, the view model is submitted to an ASP.NET Web API action on the server. Here’s the server-side ASP.NET Web API controller and model class: public class UsersController : ApiController { public HttpResponseMessage Post(UserViewModel user) { var userName = user.UserName; return Request.CreateResponse(HttpStatusCode.OK); } } public class UserViewModel { public string UserName { get; set; } public string Email { get; set; } } If you submit the HTML form, you don’t get an error. The “potentially dangerous” content is passed to the server without any exception being thrown. In the screenshot below, you can see that I was able to post a username form field with the value “<script>alert(‘boo’)</script”. So what this means is that you do not get automatic Request Validation in the case of a Single Page App. You need to be extra careful in a Single Page App about ensuring that you do not display untrusted content because you don’t have the Request Validation safety net which you have in a traditional server-side ASP.NET app. Protecting Going Out (Automatic HTML Encoding) Server-side ASP.NET also protects you from XSS attacks when you render content. By default, all content rendered by the razor view engine is HTML encoded. For example, the following razor view displays the text “<b>Hello!</b>” instead of the text “Hello!” in bold: @{ var message = "<b>Hello!</b>"; } @message   If you don’t want to render content as HTML encoded in razor then you need to take the extra step of using the @Html.Raw() helper. In a Web Form page, if you use <%: %> instead of <%= %> then you get automatic HTML Encoding: <%@ Page Language="C#" %> <% var message = "<b>Hello!</b>"; %> <%: message %> This automatic HTML Encoding will prevent many types of XSS attacks. It prevents <script> tags from being rendered and only allows &lt;script&gt; tags to be rendered which are useless for executing JavaScript. (This automatic HTML encoding does not protect you from all forms of XSS attacks. For example, you can assign the value “javascript:alert(‘evil’)” to the Hyperlink control’s NavigateUrl property and execute the JavaScript). The situation with Knockout is more complicated. If you use the Knockout TEXT binding then you get HTML encoded content. On the other hand, if you use the HTML binding then you do not: <!-- This JavaScript DOES NOT execute --> <div data-bind="text:someProp"></div> <!-- This Javacript DOES execute --> <div data-bind="html:someProp"></div> <script src="Scripts/jquery-1.7.1.js"></script> <script src="Scripts/knockout-2.1.0.js"></script> <script> var viewModel = { someProp : "<script>alert('Evil!')<" + "/script>" }; ko.applyBindings(viewModel); </script>   So, in the page above, the DIV element which uses the TEXT binding is safe from XSS attacks. According to the Knockout documentation: “Since this binding sets your text value using a text node, it’s safe to set any string value without risking HTML or script injection.” Just like server-side HTML encoding, Knockout does not protect you from all types of XSS attacks. For example, there is nothing in Knockout which prevents you from binding JavaScript to a hyperlink like this: <a data-bind="attr:{href:homePageUrl}">Go</a> <script src="Scripts/jquery-1.7.1.min.js"></script> <script src="Scripts/knockout-2.1.0.js"></script> <script> var viewModel = { homePageUrl: "javascript:alert('evil!')" }; ko.applyBindings(viewModel); </script> In the page above, the value “javascript:alert(‘evil’)” is bound to the HREF attribute using Knockout. When you click the link, the JavaScript executes. Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) Attacks Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) attacks rely on the fact that a session cookie does not expire until you close your browser. In particular, if you visit and login to MajorBank.com and then you navigate to Hackers.com then you will still be authenticated against MajorBank.com even after you navigate to Hackers.com. Because MajorBank.com cannot tell whether a request is coming from MajorBank.com or Hackers.com, Hackers.com can submit requests to MajorBank.com pretending to be you. For example, Hackers.com can post an HTML form from Hackers.com to MajorBank.com and change your email address at MajorBank.com. Hackers.com can post a form to MajorBank.com using your authentication cookie. After your email address has been changed, by using a password reset page at MajorBank.com, a hacker can access your bank account. To prevent CSRF attacks, you need some mechanism for detecting whether a request is coming from a page loaded from your website or whether the request is coming from some other website. The recommended way of preventing Cross-Site Request Forgery attacks is to use the “Synchronizer Token Pattern” as described here: https://www.owasp.org/index.php/Cross-Site_Request_Forgery_%28CSRF%29_Prevention_Cheat_Sheet When using the Synchronizer Token Pattern, you include a hidden input field which contains a random token whenever you display an HTML form. When the user opens the form, you add a cookie to the user’s browser with the same random token. When the user posts the form, you verify that the hidden form token and the cookie token match. Preventing Cross-Site Request Forgery Attacks with ASP.NET MVC ASP.NET gives you a helper and an action filter which you can use to thwart Cross-Site Request Forgery attacks. For example, the following razor form for creating a product shows how you use the @Html.AntiForgeryToken() helper: @model MvcApplication2.Models.Product <h2>Create Product</h2> @using (Html.BeginForm()) { @Html.AntiForgeryToken(); <div> @Html.LabelFor( p => p.Name, "Product Name:") @Html.TextBoxFor( p => p.Name) </div> <div> @Html.LabelFor( p => p.Price, "Product Price:") @Html.TextBoxFor( p => p.Price) </div> <input type="submit" /> } The @Html.AntiForgeryToken() helper generates a random token and assigns a serialized version of the same random token to both a cookie and a hidden form field. (Actually, if you dive into the source code, the AntiForgeryToken() does something a little more complex because it takes advantage of a user’s identity when generating the token). Here’s what the hidden form field looks like: <input name=”__RequestVerificationToken” type=”hidden” value=”NqqZGAmlDHh6fPTNR_mti3nYGUDgpIkCiJHnEEL59S7FNToyyeSo7v4AfzF2i67Cv0qTB1TgmZcqiVtgdkW2NnXgEcBc-iBts0x6WAIShtM1″ /> And here’s what the cookie looks like using the Google Chrome developer toolbar: You use the [ValidateAntiForgeryToken] action filter on the controller action which is the recipient of the form post to validate that the token in the hidden form field matches the token in the cookie. If the tokens don’t match then validation fails and you can’t post the form: public ActionResult Create() { return View(); } [ValidateAntiForgeryToken] [HttpPost] public ActionResult Create(Product productToCreate) { if (ModelState.IsValid) { // save product to db return RedirectToAction("Index"); } return View(); } How does this all work? Let’s imagine that a hacker has copied the Create Product page from MajorBank.com to Hackers.com – the hacker grabs the HTML source and places it at Hackers.com. Now, imagine that the hacker trick you into submitting the Create Product form from Hackers.com to MajorBank.com. You’ll get the following exception: The Cross-Site Request Forgery attack is blocked because the anti-forgery token included in the Create Product form at Hackers.com won’t match the anti-forgery token stored in the cookie in your browser. The tokens were generated at different times for different users so the attack fails. Preventing Cross-Site Request Forgery Attacks with a Single Page App In a Single Page App, you can’t prevent Cross-Site Request Forgery attacks using the same method as a server-side ASP.NET MVC app. In a Single Page App, HTML forms are not generated on the server. Instead, in a Single Page App, forms are loaded dynamically in the browser. Phil Haack has a blog post on this topic where he discusses passing the anti-forgery token in an Ajax header instead of a hidden form field. He also describes how you can create a custom anti-forgery token attribute to compare the token in the Ajax header and the token in the cookie. See: http://haacked.com/archive/2011/10/10/preventing-csrf-with-ajax.aspx Also, take a look at Johan’s update to Phil Haack’s original post: http://johan.driessen.se/posts/Updated-Anti-XSRF-Validation-for-ASP.NET-MVC-4-RC (Other server frameworks such as Rails and Django do something similar. For example, Rails uses an X-CSRF-Token to prevent CSRF attacks which you generate on the server – see http://excid3.com/blog/rails-tip-2-include-csrf-token-with-every-ajax-request/#.UTFtgDDkvL8 ). For example, if you are creating a Durandal app, then you can use the following razor view for your one and only server-side page: @{ Layout = null; } <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <title>Index</title> </head> <body> @Html.AntiForgeryToken() <div id="applicationHost"> Loading app.... </div> @Scripts.Render("~/scripts/vendor") <script type="text/javascript" src="~/App/durandal/amd/require.js" data-main="/App/main"></script> </body> </html> Notice that this page includes a call to @Html.AntiForgeryToken() to generate the anti-forgery token. Then, whenever you make an Ajax request in the Durandal app, you can retrieve the anti-forgery token from the razor view and pass the token as a header: var csrfToken = $("input[name='__RequestVerificationToken']").val(); $.ajax({ headers: { __RequestVerificationToken: csrfToken }, type: "POST", dataType: "json", contentType: 'application/json; charset=utf-8', url: "/api/products", data: JSON.stringify({ name: "Milk", price: 2.33 }), statusCode: { 200: function () { alert("Success!"); } } }); Use the following code to create an action filter which you can use to match the header and cookie tokens: using System.Linq; using System.Net.Http; using System.Web.Helpers; using System.Web.Http.Controllers; namespace MvcApplication2.Infrastructure { public class ValidateAjaxAntiForgeryToken : System.Web.Http.AuthorizeAttribute { protected override bool IsAuthorized(HttpActionContext actionContext) { var headerToken = actionContext .Request .Headers .GetValues("__RequestVerificationToken") .FirstOrDefault(); ; var cookieToken = actionContext .Request .Headers .GetCookies() .Select(c => c[AntiForgeryConfig.CookieName]) .FirstOrDefault(); // check for missing cookie or header if (cookieToken == null || headerToken == null) { return false; } // ensure that the cookie matches the header try { AntiForgery.Validate(cookieToken.Value, headerToken); } catch { return false; } return base.IsAuthorized(actionContext); } } } Notice that the action filter derives from the base AuthorizeAttribute. The ValidateAjaxAntiForgeryToken only works when the user is authenticated and it will not work for anonymous requests. Add the action filter to your ASP.NET Web API controller actions like this: [ValidateAjaxAntiForgeryToken] public HttpResponseMessage PostProduct(Product productToCreate) { // add product to db return Request.CreateResponse(HttpStatusCode.OK); } After you complete these steps, it won’t be possible for a hacker to pretend to be you at Hackers.com and submit a form to MajorBank.com. The header token used in the Ajax request won’t travel to Hackers.com. This approach works, but I am not entirely happy with it. The one thing that I don’t like about this approach is that it creates a hard dependency on using razor. Your single page in your Single Page App must be generated from a server-side razor view. A better solution would be to generate the anti-forgery token in JavaScript. Unfortunately, until all browsers support a way to generate cryptographically strong random numbers – for example, by supporting the window.crypto.getRandomValues() method — there is no good way to generate anti-forgery tokens in JavaScript. So, at least right now, the best solution for generating the tokens is the server-side solution with the (regrettable) dependency on razor. Conclusion The goal of this blog entry was to explore some ways in which you need to handle security differently in the case of a Single Page App than in the case of a traditional server app. In particular, I focused on how to prevent Cross-Site Scripting and Cross-Site Request Forgery attacks in the case of a Single Page App. I want to emphasize that I am not suggesting that Single Page Apps are inherently less secure than server-side apps. Whatever type of web application you build – regardless of whether it is a Single Page App, an ASP.NET MVC app, an ASP.NET Web Forms app, or a Rails app – you must constantly guard against security vulnerabilities.

  • Is there any way to get the combine two xml into one xml in Linux.

    - by user28167
    XML one is something like that: <dict> <key>2</key> <array> <string>A</string> <string>B</string> </array> <key>3</key> <array> <string>C</string> <string>D</string> <string>E</string> </array> </dict> XML Two is something like that: <dict> <key>A</key> <array> <string>A1</string> <false/> <false/> <array> <string>Apple</string> <string>This is an apple</string> </array> <array> <string>Apple Pie</string> <string>I love Apple Pie.</string> </array> </array> <key>B</key> <array> <string>B7</string> <false/> <false/> <array> <string>Boy</string> <string>I am a boy.</string> </array> </array> </dict> I want to convert to this: <dict> <key>2</key> <array> <string>A, Apple, Apple Pie</string> <string>B, Boy</string> </array> ... </dict>

  • XSL to show highest number of copies in catalog.xml file

    - by SANJAY RAO
    In this the catalog.xml file. I have two books who have the same inventory (i.e. 20). I want to write an XSL file that will display the highest number of copies of a book in a catalog. If there are two or more books of the same inventory then they have to be displayed. <catalog> <Book> <sku>12345</sku> <title>Beauty Secrets</title> <condition>New</condition> <current_inventory>20</current_inventory> <price>99.99</price> </Book> <Book> <sku>54321</sku> <title>Picturescapes</title> <current_inventory>20</current_inventory> <condition>New</condition> <price>50.00</price> </Book> <Book> <sku>33333</sku> <title>Tourist Perspectives</title> <condition>New</condition> <current_inventory>0</current_inventory> <price>75.00</price> </Book> <Book> <sku>10001</sku> <title>Fire in the Sky</title> <condition>Used</condition> <current_inventory>0</current_inventory> <price>10.00</price> </Book> </catalog> Below is my catalog3.xsl file which is able to display only one out of the two books: <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" > <xsl:variable name="max"/> <xsl:template match="/"> <html> <body> <h2>Titles of Books for which Most Copies are Available</h2> <table border="2"> <tr bgcolor="#9acd32"> <th>Title</th> <th>No of Copies</th> </tr> <xsl:apply-templates/> </table> </body> </html> </xsl:template> <xsl:template match="catalog"> <xsl:for-each select="Book"> <xsl:sort select="current_inventory" data-type="number" order="descending"/> <tr> <xsl:if test="position()= 1"> <p><xsl:value-of select="$max = "/></p> <td><xsl:value-of select="title"/></td> <td><xsl:value-of select="current_inventory"/></td> </xsl:if> </tr> </xsl:for-each> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> Could anybody correct me to achieve my goal of displaying all the copies having the same maximum inventory in the catalog. Thanks.

  • How to use value from primary accessdatasource control as parameter in select query for secondary ac

    - by weedave
    Hi, I'm trying to display all orders placed and I have a primary accessdatasource control that has a select query to get the customer information and the orderID. I want to use the orderID value from this first query as a parameter for the secondary accessdatasource control that selects the product information of the products in the order. In plain english, I want to:- select product info from product table where orderID = ? (where ? is the orderID value from the first query) I have tried the <%#Eval("OrderID")% but I get a "server tag not well formed" error, but I do get results returned when I just type the order ID in, but obviously every result (order) just contains the same product info... <asp:Repeater ID="Repeater1" runat="server" DataSourceID="AccessDataSource1"> <ItemTemplate> <asp:AccessDataSource ID="AccessDataSource2" runat="server" DataFile="~/App_Data/project.mdb" SelectCommand="SELECT orderDetails.OrderID, album.Artist, album.Album, album.Cost, album.ImageURL, orderDetails.Quantity, orderDetails.Total FROM (album INNER JOIN orderDetails ON album.AlbumID = orderDetails.AlbumID) WHERE (orderDetails.OrderID = ? )"> <SelectParameters> // Error is on this line <asp:Parameter Name="OrderID" DefaultValue="<%#Eval ("OrderID")%>" /> </SelectParameters> </asp:AccessDataSource> <div class="viewAllOrdersOrderArea"> <div class="viewAllOrdersOrderSummary"> <p><b>Order ID: </b><%#Eval("OrderID")%></p> <h4>Shipping Details</h4> <p><b>Shipping Address: </b><%#Eval("ShippingName")%>, <%#Eval("ShippingAddress")%>, <%#Eval("ShippingTown")%>, <%#Eval("ShippingPostcode")%></p> <h4>Payment Details</h4> <p><b>Cardholder's Address: </b><%#Eval("CardHolder")%>, <%#Eval("BillingAddress")%>, <%#Eval("BillingTown")%>, <%#Eval("BillingPostcode")%></p> <p><b>Payment Method: </b><%#Eval("CardType")%></p> <p><b>Card Number: </b><%#Eval("CardNumber")%></p> <p><b>Start Date: </b><%#Eval("StartDate")%>, Expiry Date: <%#Eval("ExpiryDate")%></p> <p><b>Security Digits: </b><%#Eval("SecurityDigits")%></p> <h4>Ordered items:</h4> <asp:Repeater ID="Repeater2" runat="server" DataSourceID="AccessDataSource2"> <ItemTemplate> <div style="display: block; float: left;"> <div class="viewAllOrdersProductImage"> <img width="70px" height="70px" alt="<%# Eval("Artist") %> - <%# Eval("Album") %>" src="assets/images/thumbs/<%# Eval("ImageURL") %>" /> </div> <div style="display:block; float:left; padding-top:15px; padding-right:20px;"><p><b><%# Eval("Artist") %> - <%# Eval("Album") %></b></p> <p>£<%# Eval("Cost") %> x <%# Eval("Quantity") %> = £<%#Eval("Total")%></p></div> </div> </ItemTemplate> </asp:Repeater> </div> </div> </ItemTemplate> </asp:Repeater>

  • Help with Boost Grammar

    - by Decmanc04
    I have been using the following win32 console code to try to parse a B Machine Grammar embedded within C++ using Boost Spirit grammar template. I am a relatively new Boost user. The code compiles, but when I run the .exe file produced by VC++2008, the program partially parses the input file. • XSLT 1.0 recursion

    - by DashaLuna
    I'm stuck with recursion, was wondering if anyone can help me out with it. I have <Receipts> and <Deposits> elements, that are not verbose, i.e. that a <Receipts> element doesn't have an attribute to show what <Deposit> it is towards. I need to figure out <Deposits> "still amount due" and when a last receipt towards it was paid if any. I'm trying to do it with the following code: The idea was to take 1st deposit and see if there are receipts. If the deposit isn't fully paid and there are more receipts - call that recorsive function with all the same params except now count in following receipt. If there aren't any more receipts or deposit is payed - process it correctly (add required attributes). Otherwise proceed with 2nd deposit. And so on. However, the XSLT crashes with error message that "a processor stack has overflowed - possible cause is infinite template recursion" I would really appreciate any help/teps... I'm not that great with recursion and can't understand why mine here doesn't work. Thanks! :) <!-- Accumulate all the deposits with @DueAmount attribute --> <xsl:variable name="depositsClassified"> <xsl:call-template name="classifyDeposits"> <!-- a node-list of all Deposits elements ordered by DueDate Acs --> <xsl:with-param name="depositsAll" select="$deposits"/> <xsl:with-param name="depositPrevAmount" select="'0'"/> <!-- a node-list of all Receipts elements ordered by ReceivedDate Acs --> <xsl:with-param name="receiptsAll" select="$receiptsAsc"/> <xsl:with-param name="receiptCount" select="'1'"/> </xsl:call-template> </xsl:variable> <xsl:template name="classifyDeposits"> <xsl:param name="depositsAll"/> <xsl:param name="depositPrevAmount" select="'0'"/> <xsl:param name="receiptsAll"/> <xsl:param name="receiptCount"/> <xsl:if test="$deposits"> <!-- Do required operations for the 1st deposit --> <xsl:variable name="depositFirst" select="$depositsAll[1]"/> <xsl:variable name="receiptSum"> <xsl:choose> <xsl:when test="$receiptsAll"> <xsl:value-of select="sum($receiptsAll[position() &lt;= $receiptCount]/@ActionAmount)"/> </xsl:when> <xsl:otherwise>0</xsl:otherwise> </xsl:choose> </xsl:variable> <xsl:variable name="diff" select="$depositPrevAmount + $depositFirst/@DepositTotalAmount - $receiptSum"/> <xsl:choose> <xsl:when test="$diff &gt; 0 and $receiptCount &lt; $receiptsQuantityOf"> <xsl:call-template name="classifyDeposits"> <xsl:with-param name="depositsAll" select="$depositsAll"/> <xsl:with-param name="depositPrevAmount" select="$depositPrevAmount"/> <xsl:with-param name="receiptsAll" select="$receiptsAll"/> <xsl:with-param name="receiptCount" select="$receiptCount + 1"/> </xsl:call-template> </xsl:when> <xsl:otherwise> <!-- Record changes to the deposit (@DueAmount and receipt ReceivedDate) --> <xsl:apply-templates select="$depositFirst" mode="defineDeposit"> <xsl:with-param name="diff" select="$diff"/> <xsl:with-param name="latestReceiptForDeposit" select="$receiptsAll[position() = $receiptCount]"/> </xsl:apply-templates> <!-- Recursive call to the next deposit --> <xsl:call-template name="classifyDeposits"> <xsl:with-param name="depositsAll" select="$depositsAll[position() &gt; 1]"/> <xsl:with-param name="depositPrevAmount" select="$depositPrevAmount + $depositFirst/@DepositTotalAmount"/> <xsl:with-param name="receiptsAll" select="$receiptsAll"/> <xsl:with-param name="receiptCount" select="'1'"/> </xsl:call-template> </xsl:otherwise> </xsl:choose> </xsl:if> </xsl:template> <!-- Determine deposit's status, due amount and payment received date if any --> <xsl:template match="Deposits" mode="defineDeposit"> <xsl:param name="diff"/> <xsl:param name="latestReceiptForDeposit"/> <xsl:choose> <xsl:when test="$diff &lt;= 0"> <xsl:apply-templates select="." mode="addAttrs"> <xsl:with-param name="status" select="'paid'"/> <xsl:with-param name="dueAmount" select="'0'"/> <xsl:with-param name="receipt" select="$latestReceiptForDeposit"/> </xsl:apply-templates> </xsl:when> <xsl:when test="$diff = ./@DepositTotalAmount"> <xsl:apply-templates select="." mode="addAttrs"> <xsl:with-param name="status" select="'due'"/> <xsl:with-param name="dueAmount" select="$diff"/> </xsl:apply-templates> </xsl:when> <xsl:when test="$diff &lt; ./@DepositTotalAmount"> <xsl:apply-templates select="." mode="addAttrs"> <xsl:with-param name="status" select="'outstanding'"/> <xsl:with-param name="dueAmount" select="$diff"/> <xsl:with-param name="receipt" select="$latestReceiptForDeposit"/> </xsl:apply-templates> </xsl:when> <xsl:otherwise/> </xsl:choose> </xsl:template> <xsl:template match="Deposits" mode="addAttrs"> <xsl:param name="status"/> <xsl:param name="dueAmount"/> <xsl:param name="receipt" select="''"/> <!-- Constract a new MultiDeposits element with required info --> <xsl:copy> <xsl:copy-of select="./@*"/> <xsl:attribute name="Status"><xsl:value-of select="$status"/></xsl:attribute> <xsl:attribute name="DueAmount"><xsl:value-of select="$dueAmount"/></xsl:attribute> <xsl:if test="$receipt"> <xsl:attribute name="latestReceiptDate"> <xsl:value-of select="$receipt/@ActionDate"/> </xsl:attribute> </xsl:if> <xsl:copy-of select="./*"/> </xsl:copy> </xsl:template>

  • Creating a dynamic, extensible C# Expando Object

    - by Rick Strahl
    I love dynamic functionality in a strongly typed language because it offers us the best of both worlds. In C# (or any of the main .NET languages) we now have the dynamic type that provides a host of dynamic features for the static C# language. One place where I've found dynamic to be incredibly useful is in building extensible types or types that expose traditionally non-object data (like dictionaries) in easier to use and more readable syntax. I wrote about a couple of these for accessing old school ADO.NET DataRows and DataReaders more easily for example. These classes are dynamic wrappers that provide easier syntax and auto-type conversions which greatly simplifies code clutter and increases clarity in existing code. ExpandoObject in .NET 4.0 Another great use case for dynamic objects is the ability to create extensible objects - objects that start out with a set of static members and then can add additional properties and even methods dynamically. The .NET 4.0 framework actually includes an ExpandoObject class which provides a very dynamic object that allows you to add properties and methods on the fly and then access them again. For example with ExpandoObject you can do stuff like this:dynamic expand = new ExpandoObject(); expand.Name = "Rick"; expand.HelloWorld = (Func<string, string>) ((string name) => { return "Hello " + name; }); Console.WriteLine(expand.Name); Console.WriteLine(expand.HelloWorld("Dufus")); Internally ExpandoObject uses a Dictionary like structure and interface to store properties and methods and then allows you to add and access properties and methods easily. As cool as ExpandoObject is it has a few shortcomings too: It's a sealed type so you can't use it as a base class It only works off 'properties' in the internal Dictionary - you can't expose existing type data It doesn't serialize to XML or with DataContractSerializer/DataContractJsonSerializer Expando - A truly extensible Object ExpandoObject is nice if you just need a dynamic container for a dictionary like structure. However, if you want to build an extensible object that starts out with a set of strongly typed properties and then allows you to extend it, ExpandoObject does not work because it's a sealed class that can't be inherited. I started thinking about this very scenario for one of my applications I'm building for a customer. In this system we are connecting to various different user stores. Each user store has the same basic requirements for username, password, name etc. But then each store also has a number of extended properties that is available to each application. In the real world scenario the data is loaded from the database in a data reader and the known properties are assigned from the known fields in the database. All unknown fields are then 'added' to the expando object dynamically. In the past I've done this very thing with a separate property - Properties - just like I do for this class. But the property and dictionary syntax is not ideal and tedious to work with. I started thinking about how to represent these extra property structures. One way certainly would be to add a Dictionary, or an ExpandoObject to hold all those extra properties. But wouldn't it be nice if the application could actually extend an existing object that looks something like this as you can with the Expando object:public class User : Westwind.Utilities.Dynamic.Expando { public string Email { get; set; } public string Password { get; set; } public string Name { get; set; } public bool Active { get; set; } public DateTime? ExpiresOn { get; set; } } and then simply start extending the properties of this object dynamically? Using the Expando object I describe later you can now do the following:[TestMethod] public void UserExampleTest() { var user = new User(); // Set strongly typed properties user.Email = "[email protected]"; user.Password = "nonya123"; user.Name = "Rickochet"; user.Active = true; // Now add dynamic properties dynamic duser = user; duser.Entered = DateTime.Now; duser.Accesses = 1; // you can also add dynamic props via indexer user["NickName"] = "AntiSocialX"; duser["WebSite"] = "http://www.west-wind.com/weblog"; // Access strong type through dynamic ref Assert.AreEqual(user.Name,duser.Name); // Access strong type through indexer Assert.AreEqual(user.Password,user["Password"]); // access dyanmically added value through indexer Assert.AreEqual(duser.Entered,user["Entered"]); // access index added value through dynamic Assert.AreEqual(user["NickName"],duser.NickName); // loop through all properties dynamic AND strong type properties (true) foreach (var prop in user.GetProperties(true)) { object val = prop.Value; if (val == null) val = "null"; Console.WriteLine(prop.Key + ": " + val.ToString()); } } As you can see this code somewhat blurs the line between a static and dynamic type. You start with a strongly typed object that has a fixed set of properties. You can then cast the object to dynamic (as I discussed in my last post) and add additional properties to the object. You can also use an indexer to add dynamic properties to the object. To access the strongly typed properties you can use either the strongly typed instance, the indexer or the dynamic cast of the object. Personally I think it's kinda cool to have an easy way to access strongly typed properties by string which can make some data scenarios much easier. To access the 'dynamically added' properties you can use either the indexer on the strongly typed object, or property syntax on the dynamic cast. Using the dynamic type allows all three modes to work on both strongly typed and dynamic properties. Finally you can iterate over all properties, both dynamic and strongly typed if you chose. Lots of flexibility. Note also that by default the Expando object works against the (this) instance meaning it extends the current object. You can also pass in a separate instance to the constructor in which case that object will be used to iterate over to find properties rather than this. Using this approach provides some really interesting functionality when use the dynamic type. To use this we have to add an explicit constructor to the Expando subclass:public class User : Westwind.Utilities.Dynamic.Expando { public string Email { get; set; } public string Password { get; set; } public string Name { get; set; } public bool Active { get; set; } public DateTime? ExpiresOn { get; set; } public User() : base() { } // only required if you want to mix in seperate instance public User(object instance) : base(instance) { } } to allow the instance to be passed. When you do you can now do:[TestMethod] public void ExpandoMixinTest() { // have Expando work on Addresses var user = new User( new Address() ); // cast to dynamicAccessToPropertyTest dynamic duser = user; // Set strongly typed properties duser.Email = "[email protected]"; user.Password = "nonya123"; // Set properties on address object duser.Address = "32 Kaiea"; //duser.Phone = "808-123-2131"; // set dynamic properties duser.NonExistantProperty = "This works too"; // shows default value Address.Phone value Console.WriteLine(duser.Phone); } Using the dynamic cast in this case allows you to access *three* different 'objects': The strong type properties, the dynamically added properties in the dictionary and the properties of the instance passed in! Effectively this gives you a way to simulate multiple inheritance (which is scary - so be very careful with this, but you can do it). How Expando works Behind the scenes Expando is a DynamicObject subclass as I discussed in my last post. By implementing a few of DynamicObject's methods you can basically create a type that can trap 'property missing' and 'method missing' operations. When you access a non-existant property a known method is fired that our code can intercept and provide a value for. Internally Expando uses a custom dictionary implementation to hold the dynamic properties you might add to your expandable object. Let's look at code first. The code for the Expando type is straight forward and given what it provides relatively short. Here it is.using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Dynamic; using System.Reflection; namespace Westwind.Utilities.Dynamic { /// <summary> /// Class that provides extensible properties and methods. It only provides the indexer and Contains() and GetProperties() methods, that work against the Properties dictionary AND the internal instance. The reason for not implementing IDictionary is that a) it doesn't add much value since you can access the Properties dictionary directly and that b) I wanted to keep the interface to class very lean so that it can serve as an entity type if desired. Implementing these IDictionary (or even IEnumerable) causes LINQ extension methods to pop up on the type which obscures the property interface and would only confuse the purpose of the type. IDictionary and IEnumerable are also problematic for XML and JSON Serialization - the XML Serializer doesn't serialize IDictionary<string,object>, nor does the DataContractSerializer. The JavaScriptSerializer does serialize, but it treats the entire object like a dictionary and doesn't serialize the strongly typed properties of the type, only the dictionary values which is also not desirable. Hence the decision to stick with only implementing the indexer to support the user["CustomProperty"] functionality and leaving iteration functions to the publicly exposed Properties dictionary. Note that the Dictionary used here is a custom PropertyBag class I created to allow for serialization to work. One important aspect for my apps is that whatever custom properties get added they have to be accessible to AJAX clients since the particular app I'm working on is a SIngle Page Web app where most of the Web access is through JSON AJAX calls. PropertyBag can serialize to XML and one way serialize to JSON using the JavaScript serializer (not the DCS serializers though). The key components that make Expando work in this code are the Properties Dictionary and the TryGetMember() and TrySetMember() methods. The Properties collection is public so if you choose you can explicitly access the collection to get better performance or to manipulate the members in internal code (like loading up dynamic values form a database). Notice that TryGetMember() and TrySetMember() both work against the dictionary AND the internal instance to retrieve and set properties. This means that user["Name"] works against native properties of the object as does user["Name"] = "RogaDugDog". What's your Use Case? This is still an early prototype but I've plugged it into one of my customer's applications and so far it's working very well. The key features for me were the ability to easily extend the type with values coming from a database and exposing those values in a nice and easy to use manner. I'm also finding that using this type of object for ViewModels works very well to add custom properties to view models. I suspect there will be lots of uses for this - I've been using the extra dictionary approach to extensibility for years - using a dynamic type to make the syntax cleaner is just a bonus here. • How to configure LocalSessionFactoryBean to release connections after transaction end?

    - by peter
    I am testing an application (Spring 2.5, Hibernate 3.5.0 Beta, Atomikos 3.6.2, and Postgreql 8.4.2) with the configuration for the DAO listed below. The problem that I see is that the pool of 10 connections with the dataSource gets exhausted after the 10's transaction. I know 'hibernate.connection.release_mode' has no effect unless the session is obtained with openSession rather then using a contextual session. I am wandering if anyone has found a way to configure the LocalSessionFactoryBean to release connections after any transaction. Thank you Peter <bean id="dataSource" class="com.atomikos.jdbc.AtomikosDataSourceBean" init-method="init" destroy-method="close"> <property name="uniqueResourceName"><value>XADBMS</value></property> <property name="xaDataSourceClassName"> <value>org.postgresql.xa.PGXADataSource</value> </property> <property name="xaProperties"> <props> <prop key="databaseName">${jdbc.name}</prop> <prop key="serverName">${jdbc.server}</prop> <prop key="portNumber">${jdbc.port}</prop> <prop key="user">${jdbc.username}</prop> <prop key="password">${jdbc.password}</prop> </props> </property> <property name="poolSize"><value>10</value></property> </bean> <bean id="sessionFactory" class="org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.LocalSessionFactoryBean"> <property name="dataSource"> <ref bean="dataSource" /> </property> <property name="mappingResources"> <list> <value>Abc.hbm.xml</value> </list> </property> <property name="hibernateProperties"> <props> <prop key="hibernate.dialect">org.hibernate.dialect.PostgreSQLDialect</prop> <prop key="hibernate.show_sql">on</prop> <prop key="hibernate.format_sql">true</prop> <prop key="hibernate.connection.isolation">3</prop> <prop key="hibernate.current_session_context_class">jta</prop> <prop key="hibernate.transaction.factory_class">org.hibernate.transaction.JTATransactionFactory</prop> <prop key="hibernate.transaction.manager_lookup_class">com.atomikos.icatch.jta.hibernate3.TransactionManagerLookup</prop> <prop key="hibernate.connection.release_mode">auto</prop> <prop key="hibernate.transaction.auto_close_session">true</prop> </props> </property> </bean> <!-- Transaction definition here --> <bean id="userTransactionService" class="com.atomikos.icatch.config.UserTransactionServiceImp" init-method="init" destroy-method="shutdownForce"> <constructor-arg> <props> <prop key="com.atomikos.icatch.service"> com.atomikos.icatch.standalone.UserTransactionServiceFactory </prop> </props> </constructor-arg> </bean> <!-- Construct Atomikos UserTransactionManager, needed to configure Spring --> <bean id="AtomikosTransactionManager" class="com.atomikos.icatch.jta.UserTransactionManager" init-method="init" destroy-method="close" depends-on="userTransactionService"> <property name="forceShutdown" value="false" /> </bean> <!-- Also use Atomikos UserTransactionImp, needed to configure Spring --> <bean id="AtomikosUserTransaction" class="com.atomikos.icatch.jta.UserTransactionImp" depends-on="userTransactionService"> <property name="transactionTimeout" value="300" /> </bean> <!-- Configure the Spring framework to use JTA transactions from Atomikos --> <bean id="txManager" class="org.springframework.transaction.jta.JtaTransactionManager" depends-on="userTransactionService"> <property name="transactionManager" ref="AtomikosTransactionManager" /> <property name="userTransaction" ref="AtomikosUserTransaction" /> </bean> <!-- the transactional advice (what 'happens'; see the <aop:advisor/> bean below) --> <tx:advice id="txAdvice" transaction-manager="txManager"> <tx:attributes> <!-- all methods starting with 'get' are read-only --> <tx:method name="get*" read-only="true" propagation="REQUIRED"/> <!-- other methods use the default transaction settings (see below) --> <tx:method name="*" propagation="REQUIRED"/> </tx:attributes> </tx:advice> <aop:config> <aop:advisor pointcut="execution(* *.*.AbcDao.*(..))" advice-ref="txAdvice"/> </aop:config> <!-- DAO objects --> <bean id="abcDao" class="test.dao.impl.HibernateAbcDao" scope="singleton"> <property name="sessionFactory" ref="sessionFactory"/> </bean>

  • Renderpartial or renderaction

    - by femi
    have an action that generates active vacancies. The code is below; public ViewResult OpenVacancies() { var openvacancies = db.GetActiveVacancies(); return View(openvacancies); } I want to use this list on several pages so i guess the best thing to use is html.renderaction (please correct me if i am wrong here). Please note that the view and .ascx control are in an Area. I then created a view by right clicking inside the action and create a .ascx and a strongly typed view of Vacancy. I chose a view content of "List". I then added this line to the required page; <% Html.RenderAction("OpenVacancies"); % Please note that the view and .ascx control are in an Area. The error i got is; The type or namespace name 'Vacancy' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) the .ascx code is below; <%@ Control Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl" % <table> <tr> <th></th> <th> VacancyID </th> <th> JobTitle </th> <th> PositionID </th> <th> LocationID </th> <th> JobDescription </th> <th> JobConditions </th> <th> Qualifications </th> <th> RequiredSkills </th> <th> Certifications </th> <th> AdvertDate </th> <th> AdvertExpiryDate </th> <th> Status </th> <th> StaffLevel </th> <th> LineManagerEmail </th> <th> ApprovalFlag </th> <th> RequisitionDate </th> </tr> <% foreach (var item in Model) { %> <tr> <td> <%= Html.ActionLink("Edit", "Edit", new { id=item.VacancyID }) %> | <%= Html.ActionLink("Details", "Details", new { id=item.VacancyID })%> | <%= Html.ActionLink("Delete", "Delete", new { id=item.VacancyID })%> </td> <td> <%= Html.Encode(item.VacancyID) %> </td> <td> <%= Html.Encode(item.JobTitle) %> </td> <td> <%= Html.Encode(item.PositionID) %> </td> <td> <%= Html.Encode(item.LocationID) %> </td> <td> <%= Html.Encode(item.JobDescription) %> </td> <td> <%= Html.Encode(item.JobConditions) %> </td> <td> <%= Html.Encode(item.Qualifications) %> </td> <td> <%= Html.Encode(item.RequiredSkills) %> </td> <td> <%= Html.Encode(item.Certifications) %> </td> <td> <%= Html.Encode(String.Format("{0:g}", item.AdvertDate)) %> </td> <td> <%= Html.Encode(String.Format("{0:g}", item.AdvertExpiryDate)) %> </td> <td> <%= Html.Encode(item.Status) %> </td> <td> <%= Html.Encode(item.StaffLevel) %> </td> <td> <%= Html.Encode(item.LineManagerEmail) %> </td> <td> <%= Html.Encode(item.ApprovalFlag) %> </td> <td> <%= Html.Encode(String.Format("{0:g}", item.RequisitionDate)) %> </td> </tr> <% } %> </table> <p> <%= Html.ActionLink("Create New", "Create") %> </p>

  • Is there an API to remotely read a Windows machine's audit configuration?

    - by JCCyC
    I need to know, for each subcategory, whether it'll be audited on success, on failure, both, or none. Below is an example of the information I need to collect. Can I get this through WMI? Or if not, by other means, assuming I have proper (admin) credentials to the target machine? Again, to clarify, it's not the event log I need to read, it's the logging configuration. <security_state_change>AUDIT_SUCCESS</security_state_change> <security_system_extension>AUDIT_NONE</security_system_extension> <system_integrity>AUDIT_SUCCESS_FAILURE</system_integrity> <ipsec_driver>AUDIT_NONE</ipsec_driver> <other_system_events>AUDIT_SUCCESS_FAILURE</other_system_events> <logon>AUDIT_SUCCESS</logon> <logoff>AUDIT_SUCCESS</logoff> <account_lockout>AUDIT_SUCCESS</account_lockout> <ipsec_main_mode>AUDIT_NONE</ipsec_main_mode> <ipsec_quick_mode>AUDIT_NONE</ipsec_quick_mode> <ipsec_extended_mode>AUDIT_NONE</ipsec_extended_mode> <special_logon>AUDIT_SUCCESS</special_logon> <other_logon_logoff_events>AUDIT_NONE</other_logon_logoff_events> <file_system>AUDIT_NONE</file_system> <registry>AUDIT_NONE</registry> <kernel_object>AUDIT_NONE</kernel_object> <sam>AUDIT_NONE</sam> <certification_services>AUDIT_NONE</certification_services> <application_generated>AUDIT_NONE</application_generated> <handle_manipulation>AUDIT_NONE</handle_manipulation> <file_share>AUDIT_NONE</file_share> <filtering_platform_packet_drop>AUDIT_NONE</filtering_platform_packet_drop> <filtering_platform_connection>AUDIT_NONE</filtering_platform_connection> <other_object_access_events>AUDIT_NONE</other_object_access_events> <sensitive_privilege_use>AUDIT_NONE</sensitive_privilege_use> <non_sensitive_privlege_use>AUDIT_NONE</non_sensitive_privlege_use> <other_privlege_use_events>AUDIT_NONE</other_privlege_use_events> <process_creation>AUDIT_NONE</process_creation> <process_termination>AUDIT_NONE</process_termination> <dpapi_activity>AUDIT_NONE</dpapi_activity> <rpc_events>AUDIT_NONE</rpc_events> <audit_policy_change>AUDIT_SUCCESS</audit_policy_change> <authentication_policy_change>AUDIT_SUCCESS</authentication_policy_change> <authorization_policy_change>AUDIT_NONE</authorization_policy_change> <mpssvc_rule_level_policy_change>AUDIT_NONE</mpssvc_rule_level_policy_change> <filtering_platform_policy_change>AUDIT_NONE</filtering_platform_policy_change> <other_policy_change_events>AUDIT_NONE</other_policy_change_events> <user_account_management>AUDIT_SUCCESS</user_account_management> <computer_account_management>AUDIT_NONE</computer_account_management> <security_group_management>AUDIT_SUCCESS</security_group_management> <distribution_group_management>AUDIT_NONE</distribution_group_management> <application_group_management>AUDIT_NONE</application_group_management> <other_account_management_events>AUDIT_NONE</other_account_management_events> <directory_service_access>AUDIT_NONE</directory_service_access> <directory_service_changes>AUDIT_NONE</directory_service_changes> <directory_service_replication>AUDIT_NONE</directory_service_replication> <detailed_directory_service_replication>AUDIT_NONE</detailed_directory_service_replication> <credential_validation>AUDIT_NONE</credential_validation> <kerberos_ticket_events>AUDIT_NONE</kerberos_ticket_events> <other_account_logon_events>AUDIT_NONE</other_account_logon_events>

  • DotNetNuke + XPath = Custom navigation menu DNNMenu HTML render

    - by Rui Santos
    I'm developing a skin for DotNetNuke 5 using the Component DNN Done Right menu by Mark Alan which uses XSL-T to convert the XML sitemap into an HTML navigation. The XML sitemap outputs the following structure: <Root > <root > <node id="40" text="Home" url="http://localhost/dnn/Home.aspx" enabled="1" selected="0" breadcrumb="0" first="1" last="0" only="0" depth="0" > <node id="58" text="Child1" url="http://localhost/dnn/Home/Child1.aspx" enabled="1" selected="0" breadcrumb="0" first="1" last="0" only="0" depth="1" > <keywords >Child1</keywords> <description >Child1</description> <node id="59" text="Child1 SubItem1" url="http://localhost/dnn/Home/Child1/Child1SubItem1.aspx" enabled="1" selected="0" breadcrumb="0" first="1" last="0" only="0" depth="2" > <keywords >Child1 SubItem1</keywords> <description >Child1 SubItem1</description> </node> <node id="60" text="Child1 SubItem2" url="http://localhost/dnn/Home/Child1/Child1SubItem2.aspx" enabled="1" selected="0" breadcrumb="0" first="0" last="0" only="0" depth="2" > <keywords >Child1 SubItem2</keywords> <description >Child1 SubItem2</description> </node> <node id="61" text="Child1 SubItem3" url="http://localhost/dnn/Home/Child1/Child1SubItem3.aspx" enabled="1" selected="0" breadcrumb="0" first="0" last="1" only="0" depth="2" > <keywords >Child1 SubItem3</keywords> <description >Child1 SubItem3</description> </node> </node> <node id="65" text="Child2" url="http://localhost/dnn/Home/Child2.aspx" enabled="1" selected="0" breadcrumb="0" first="0" last="1" only="0" depth="1" > <keywords >Child2</keywords> <description >Child2</description> <node id="66" text="Child2 SubItem1" url="http://localhost/dnn/Home/Child2/Child2SubItem1.aspx" enabled="1" selected="0" breadcrumb="0" first="1" last="0" only="0" depth="2" > <keywords >Child2 SubItem1</keywords> <description >Child2 SubItem1</description> </node> <node id="67" text="Child2 SubItem2" url="http://localhost/dnn/Home/Child2/Child2SubItem2.aspx" enabled="1" selected="0" breadcrumb="0" first="0" last="1" only="0" depth="2" > <keywords >Child2 SubItem2</keywords> <description >Child2 SubItem2</description> </node> </node> </node> </root> </Root> My Goal is to render this XML block into this HTML Navigation structure only using UL's LI's, etc.. <ul id="topnav"> <li> <a href="#" class="home">Home</a> <!-- Parent Node - Depth0 --> <div class="sub"> <ul> <li><h2><a href="#">Child1</a></h2></li> <!-- Parent Node 1 - Depth1 --> <li><a href="#">Child1 SubItem1</a></li> <!-- ChildNode - Depth2 --> <li><a href="#">Child1 SubItem2</a></li> <!-- ChildNode - Depth2 --> <li><a href="#">Child1 SubItem3</a></li ><!-- ChildNode - Depth2 --> </ul> <ul> <li><h2><a href="#">Child2</a></h2></li> <!-- Parent Node 2 - Depth1 --> <li><a href="#">Child2 SubItem1</a></li> <!-- ChildNode - Depth2 --> <li><a href="#">Child2 SubItem2</a></li> <!-- ChildNode - Depth2 --> </ul> </div> </li> </ul> Can anyone help with the XSL coding?   • Issues with signal handling [closed]

    - by user34790
    I am trying to actually study the signal handling behavior in multiprocess system. I have a system where there are three signal generating processes generating signals of type SIGUSR1 and SIGUSR1. I have two handler processes that handle a particular type of signal. I have another monitoring process that also receives the signals and then does its work. I have a certain issue. Whenever my signal handling processes generate a signal of a particular type, it is sent to the process group so it is received by the signal handling processes as well as the monitoring processes. Whenever the signal handlers of monitoring and signal handling processes are called, I have printed to indicate the signal handling. I was expecting a uniform series of calls for the signal handlers of the monitoring and handling processes. However, looking at the output I could see like at the beginning the monitoring and signal handling processes's signal handlers are called uniformly. However, after I could see like signal handler processes handlers being called in a burst followed by the signal handler of monitoring process being called in a burst. Here is my code and output #include <iostream> #include <sys/types.h> #include <sys/wait.h> #include <sys/time.h> #include <signal.h> #include <cstdio> #include <stdlib.h> #include <sys/ipc.h> #include <sys/shm.h> #define NUM_SENDER_PROCESSES 3 #define NUM_HANDLER_PROCESSES 4 #define NUM_SIGNAL_REPORT 10 #define MAX_SIGNAL_COUNT 100000 using namespace std; volatile int *usrsig1_handler_count; volatile int *usrsig2_handler_count; volatile int *usrsig1_sender_count; volatile int *usrsig2_sender_count; volatile int *lock_1; volatile int *lock_2; volatile int *lock_3; volatile int *lock_4; volatile int *lock_5; volatile int *lock_6; //Used only by the monitoring process volatile int monitor_count; volatile int usrsig1_monitor_count; volatile int usrsig2_monitor_count; double time_1[NUM_SIGNAL_REPORT]; double time_2[NUM_SIGNAL_REPORT]; //Used only by the main process int total_signal_count; //For shared memory int shmid; const int shareSize = sizeof(int) * (10); double timestamp() { struct timeval tp; gettimeofday(&tp, NULL); return (double)tp.tv_sec + tp.tv_usec / 1000000.; } pid_t senders[NUM_SENDER_PROCESSES]; pid_t handlers[NUM_HANDLER_PROCESSES]; pid_t reporter; void signal_catcher_1(int); void signal_catcher_2(int); void signal_catcher_int(int); void signal_catcher_monitor(int); void signal_catcher_main(int); void terminate_processes() { //Kill the child processes int status; cout << "Time up terminating the child processes" << endl; for(int i=0; i<NUM_SENDER_PROCESSES; i++) { kill(senders[i],SIGKILL); } for(int i=0; i<NUM_HANDLER_PROCESSES; i++) { kill(handlers[i],SIGKILL); } kill(reporter,SIGKILL); //Wait for the child processes to finish for(int i=0; i<NUM_SENDER_PROCESSES; i++) { waitpid(senders[i], &status, 0); } for(int i=0; i<NUM_HANDLER_PROCESSES; i++) { waitpid(handlers[i], &status, 0); } waitpid(reporter, &status, 0); } int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { if(argc != 2) { cout << "Required parameters missing. • Recieving and organizing results without server side script (JavaScript)

    - by Aaron
    I have been working on a very large form project for the past few days. I finally managed to get tables to work properly within a javascript file that opens a new display window. Now the issue at hand is that I can't seem to get CSS code to work within the javascript that I have created. Before everyone starts thinking "just use server side script idiot" I have a few conditions and info about the file: The file is only being ran local due to confidential information risks. Once again no option for server access. The intranet the computers are on are already top security and this wouldn't exactly be a company wide program The code below is obviously just a demo with a simple form... The real file has six pages of highly confidential information Only certain fields on this form will actually be gathered (example: address doesnt appear in the results) The display page will contain data compiled into tables for easier viewing I need to be able to create css commands to easily detect certain information if it applies and along with matching design of the original form Here is the code: <html> <head> <title>Form Example</title> <script LANGUAGE="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"> function display() { DispWin = window.open('','NewWin', 'toolbar=no,status=no,width=800,height=600') message = "<body>"; message += "<table border=1 width=100%>"; message += "<tr>"; message += "<th colspan=2 align=center><font face=stencil color=black><h1>Results</h1><h4>one</h4></font>"; message += "</th>"; message += "</tr>"; message += "<td width=50% align=left>"; message += "<ul><li><b><font face=calibri color=red>NAME:</font></b> " + document.form1.yourname.value + "</UL>" message += "</td>"; message += "<td width=50% align=left>"; message += "<li><b>PHONE: </b>" + document.form1.phone.value + "</ul>"; message += "</td>"; message += "</table>"; message += "<body>"; DispWin.document.write(message); DispWin.document.body.style.cssText = 'color:#blue;'; } </script> </head> <body> <h1>Form Example</h1> Enter the following information: <form name="form1"> <p><b>Name:</b> <input TYPE="TEXT" SIZE="20" NAME="yourname"> </p> <p><b>Address:</b> <input TYPE="TEXT" SIZE="30" NAME="address"> </p> <p><b>Phone: </b> <input TYPE="TEXT" SIZE="15" NAME="phone"> </p> <p><input TYPE="BUTTON" VALUE="Display" onClick="display();"></p> </form> </body> </html> >

  • Problems using HibernateTemplate: java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: org.hibernate.SessionFactory.openSession()Lorg/hibernate/classic/Session;

    - by user2104160
    I am quite new in Spring world and I am going crazy trying to integrate Hibernate in Spring application using HibernateTemplate abstract support class I have the following class to persist on database table: package org.andrea.myexample.HibernateOnSpring.entity; import javax.persistence.Entity; import javax.persistence.GeneratedValue; import javax.persistence.GenerationType; import javax.persistence.Id; import javax.persistence.Table; @Entity @Table(name="person") public class Person { @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy=GenerationType.AUTO) private int pid; private String firstname; private String lastname; public int getPid() { return pid; } public void setPid(int pid) { this.pid = pid; } public String getFirstname() { return firstname; } public void setFirstname(String firstname) { this.firstname = firstname; } public String getLastname() { return lastname; } public void setLastname(String lastname) { this.lastname = lastname; } } Next to it I have create an interface named PersonDAO in wich I only define my CRUD method. So I have implement this interface by a class named PersonDAOImpl that also extend the Spring abstract class HibernateTemplate: package org.andrea.myexample.HibernateOnSpring.dao; import java.util.List; import org.andrea.myexample.HibernateOnSpring.entity.Person; import org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.support.HibernateDaoSupport; public class PersonDAOImpl extends HibernateDaoSupport implements PersonDAO{ public void addPerson(Person p) { getHibernateTemplate().saveOrUpdate(p); } public Person getById(int id) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub return null; } public List<Person> getPersonsList() { // TODO Auto-generated method stub return null; } public void delete(int id) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub } public void update(Person person) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub } } (at the moment I am trying to implement only the addPerson() method) Then I have create a main class to test the operation of insert a new object into the database table: package org.andrea.myexample.HibernateOnSpring; import org.andrea.myexample.HibernateOnSpring.dao.PersonDAO; import org.andrea.myexample.HibernateOnSpring.entity.Person; import org.springframework.context.ApplicationContext; import org.springframework.context.support.ClassPathXmlApplicationContext; public class MainApp { public static void main(String[] args) { ApplicationContext context = new ClassPathXmlApplicationContext("Beans.xml"); System.out.println("Contesto recuperato: " + context); Person persona1 = new Person(); persona1.setFirstname("Pippo"); persona1.setLastname("Blabla"); System.out.println("Creato persona1: " + persona1); PersonDAO dao = (PersonDAO) context.getBean("personDAOImpl"); System.out.println("Creato dao object: " + dao); dao.addPerson(persona1); System.out.println("persona1 salvata nel database"); } } As you can see the PersonDAOImpl class extends HibernateTemplate so I think that it have to contain the operation of setting of the sessionFactory... The problem is that when I try to run this MainApp class I obtain the following exception: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: org.hibernate.SessionFactory.openSession()Lorg/hibernate/classic/Session; at org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.SessionFactoryUtils.doGetSession(SessionFactoryUtils.java:323) at org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.SessionFactoryUtils.getSession(SessionFactoryUtils.java:235) at org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.HibernateTemplate.getSession(HibernateTemplate.java:457) at org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.HibernateTemplate.doExecute(HibernateTemplate.java:392) at org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.HibernateTemplate.executeWithNativeSession(HibernateTemplate.java:374) at org.springframework.orm.hibernate3.HibernateTemplate.saveOrUpdate(HibernateTemplate.java:737) at org.andrea.myexample.HibernateOnSpring.dao.PersonDAOImpl.addPerson(PersonDAOImpl.java:12) at org.andrea.myexample.HibernateOnSpring.MainApp.main(MainApp.java:26) Why I have this problem? how can I solve it? To be complete I also insert my pom.xml containing my dependencies list: <project xmlns="http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://maven.apache.org/POM/4.0.0 http://maven.apache.org/xsd/maven-4.0.0.xsd"> <modelVersion>4.0.0</modelVersion> <groupId>org.andrea.myexample</groupId> <artifactId>HibernateOnSpring</artifactId> <version>0.0.1-SNAPSHOT</version> <packaging>jar</packaging> <name>HibernateOnSpring</name> <url>http://maven.apache.org</url> <properties> <project.build.sourceEncoding>UTF-8</project.build.sourceEncoding> </properties> <dependencies> <dependency> <groupId>junit</groupId> <artifactId>junit</artifactId> <version>3.8.1</version> <scope>test</scope> </dependency> <!-- Dipendenze di Spring Framework --> <dependency> <groupId>org.springframework</groupId> <artifactId>spring-core</artifactId> <version>3.2.1.RELEASE</version> </dependency> <dependency> <groupId>org.springframework</groupId> <artifactId>spring-beans</artifactId> <version>3.2.1.RELEASE</version> </dependency> <dependency> <groupId>org.springframework</groupId> <artifactId>spring-context</artifactId> <version>3.2.1.RELEASE</version> </dependency> <dependency> <groupId>org.springframework</groupId> <artifactId>spring-context-support</artifactId> <version>3.2.1.RELEASE</version> </dependency> <dependency> <!-- Usata da Hibernate 4 per LocalSessionFactoryBean --> <groupId>org.springframework</groupId> <artifactId>spring-orm</artifactId> <version>3.2.0.RELEASE</version> </dependency> <!-- Dipendenze per AOP --> <dependency> <groupId>cglib</groupId> <artifactId>cglib</artifactId> <version>2.2.2</version> </dependency> <!-- Dipendenze per Persistence Managment --> <dependency> <!-- Apache BasicDataSource --> <groupId>commons-dbcp</groupId> <artifactId>commons-dbcp</artifactId> <version>1.4</version> </dependency> <dependency> <!-- MySQL database driver --> <groupId>mysql</groupId> <artifactId>mysql-connector-java</artifactId> <version>5.1.23</version> </dependency> <dependency> <!-- Hibernate --> <groupId>org.hibernate</groupId> <artifactId>hibernate-core</artifactId> <version>4.1.9.Final</version> </dependency> </dependencies> </project>

It is suppoed to create the database and fields from the form input. It gets to the end and shows my_contacts has been created!. But when i go into phpMyadmin the table has not been created. I have a file named show_createtable.html which is used to create a table in MySQL <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Untitled Document</title> </head> <body> <h1>Step 1: Name and Number</h1> <form method="post" action="do_showfielddef.php" /> <p><strong>Table Name:</strong><br /> <input type="text" name="table_name" size="30" /></p> <p><strong>Number of fields:</strong><br /> <input type="text" name="num_fields" size="30" /></p> <p><input type="submit" name="submit" value="go to step2" /></p> </form> </body> </html> This Form Posts to do_showfielddef.php <?php //validate important input if ((!$_POST[table_name]) || (!$_POST[num_fields])) { header( "location: show_createtable.html"); exit; } //begin creating form for display $form_block = " <form action=\"do_createtable.php\" method=\"post\"> <input name=\"table_name\" type=\"hidden\" value=\"$_POST[table_name]\"> <table cellspacing=\"5\" cellpadding=\"5\"> <tr> <th>Field Name</th><th>Field Type</th><th>Table Length</th><th>Primary Key?</th><th>Auto-Increment?</th> </tr>"; //count from 0 until you reach the number fo fields for ($i = 0; $i <$_POST[num_fields]; $i++) { $form_block .=" <tr> <td align=center><input type=\"texr\" name=\"field name[]\" size=\"30\"></td> <td align=center> <select name=\"field_type[]\"> <option value=\"char\">char</option> <option value=\"date\">date</option> <option value=\"float\">float</option> <option value=\"int\">int</option> <option value=\"text\">text</option> <option value=\"varchar\">varchar</option> </select> </td> <td align=center><input type=\"text\" name=\"field_length[]\" size=\"5\"></td> <td aligh=center><input type=\"checkbox\" name=\"primary[]\" value=\"Y\"></td> <td aligh=center><input type=\"checkbox\" name=\"auto_increment[]\" value=\"Y\"></td> </tr>"; } //finish up the form $form_block .= " <tr> <td align=center colspan=3><input type =\"submit\" value=\"create table\"> </td> </tr> </table> </form>"; ?> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Create a database table: Step 2</title> </head> <body> <h1>defnie fields for <? echo "$_POST[table_name]"; ?> </h1> <? echo "$form_block"; ?> </body> </html> Which in turn creates the table and fields with this file do_showfielddef.php //connect to database $connection = @mysql_connect("localhost", "user", "pass") or die(mysql_error()); $db = @mysql_select_db($db_name, $connection) or die(mysql_error()); //start creating the SQL statement $sql = "CREATE TABLE $_POST[table_name]("; //continue the SQL statement for each new field for ($i = 0; $i < count($_POST[field_name]); $i++) { $sql .= $_POST[field_name][$i]."   • Import Twitter XML into Visual Basic

    - by ct2k7
    Hello, I'm trying to import an XML that's provided by twitter into a readable format in Visual Basic. XML looks like: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?> - <statuses type="array"> - <status> <created_at>Mon Jan 18 20:41:19 +0000 2010</created_at> <id>111111111</id> <text>thattext</text> <source><a href="http://www.seesmic.com/" rel="nofollow">Seesmic</a></source> <truncated>false</truncated> <in_reply_to_status_id>7916479948</in_reply_to_status_id> <in_reply_to_user_id>90978206</in_reply_to_user_id> <favorited>false</favorited> <in_reply_to_screen_name>radonsystems</in_reply_to_screen_name> - <user> <id>20193170</id> <name>personname</name> <screen_name>screenname</screen_name> <location>loc</location> <description>desc</description> <profile_image_url>http://a3.twimg.com/profile_images/747012343/twitter_normal.png</profile_image_url> <url>myurl</url> <protected>false</protected> <followers_count>97</followers_count> <profile_background_color>ffffff</profile_background_color> <profile_text_color>333333</profile_text_color> <profile_link_color>0084B4</profile_link_color> <profile_sidebar_fill_color>ffffff</profile_sidebar_fill_color> <profile_sidebar_border_color>ababab</profile_sidebar_border_color> <friends_count>76</friends_count> <created_at>Thu Feb 05 21:54:24 +0000 2009</created_at> <favourites_count>1</favourites_count> <utc_offset>0</utc_offset> <time_zone>London</time_zone> <profile_background_image_url>http://a3.twimg.com/profile_background_images/76723999/754686.png</profile_background_image_url> <profile_background_tile>true</profile_background_tile> <notifications>false</notifications> <geo_enabled>true</geo_enabled> <verified>false</verified> <following>false</following> <statuses_count>782</statuses_count> <lang>en</lang> <contributors_enabled>false</contributors_enabled> </user> <geo /> <coordinates /> <place /> <contributors /> </status> </statuses> Now, I want to display it in a panel that automatically refresh after a certain period, however, I only want to pick out certain bits of info from that xml, such as profile_image_url and text and created_at. You can guess how the data will be formatted, much like that presented in TweetDeck and other Twitter clients. I'm quite new to Visual Basic, so how could I do this? Thanks

  • PHP behaves weird, mixing up HTML markup.

    - by adardesign
    Thanks for looking on this problem. I have a page that is totally valid page, and there is a PHP loop that brings in a <li> for each entry of the table. When i check this page locally it looks 100% OK, but when veiwing the page online the left side bar (which creates this markup is broken randomly mixing <div>'s and <li>'s and i have no clue what the problem is. See page (problem is on the left side) php code <?php do { ?> <li class="clear-block" id="<?php echo $row_Recordset1['penSKU']; ?>"> <a title="Click to view the <?php echo $row_Recordset1['penName']; ?> collection" rel="<?php echo $row_Recordset1['penSKU']; ?>"> <img src="prodImages/small/<?php echo $row_Recordset1['penSKU']; ?>.png" alt="" /> <div class="prodInfoCntnr"> <div class="basicInfo"> <span class="prodName"><?php echo $row_Recordset1['penName']; ?></span> <span class="prodSku"><?php echo $row_Recordset1['penSKU']; ?></span> </div> <div class="secondaryInfo"> <span>As low as .<?php echo $row_Recordset1['price25000']; ?>¢ <!--<em>(R)</em>--></span> <div class="colorPlacholder" rel="<?php echo $row_Recordset1['penColors']; ?>"></div> </div> </div> <div class="additPenInfo"> <div class="imprintInfo"><span>Imprint area: </span><?php echo $row_Recordset1['imprintArea']; ?></div> <div class="colorInfo"><span>Available in: </span><?php echo $row_Recordset1['penColors']; ?></div> <table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"> <tr> <th>Amount</th> <th>500</th> <th>1,000</th> <th>2,500</th> <th>5,000</th> <th>10,000</th> <th>20,000</th> </tr> <tr> <td>Price <span>(R)</span></td> <td><?php echo $row_Recordset1['price500'];?>¢</td> <td><?php echo $row_Recordset1['price1000'];?>¢</td> <td><?php echo $row_Recordset1['price2500'];?>¢</td> <td><?php echo $row_Recordset1['price5000'];?>¢</td> <td>Please Contact</td> <td>Please Contact</td> </tr> </table> </div> </a> </li> <?php } while ($row_Recordset1 = mysql_fetch_assoc($Recordset1)); ?>

  • Silverlight for Windows Embedded tutorial (step 4)

    - by Valter Minute
    I’m back with my Silverlight for Windows Embedded tutorial. Sorry for the long delay between step 3 and step 4, the MVP summit and some work related issue prevented me from working on the tutorial during the last weeks. In our first,  second and third tutorial steps we implemented some very simple applications, just to understand the basic structure of a Silverlight for Windows Embedded application, learn how to handle events and how to operate on images. In this third step our sample application will be slightly more complicated, to introduce two new topics: list boxes and custom control. We will also learn how to create controls at runtime. I choose to explain those topics together and provide a sample a bit more complicated than usual just to start to give the feeling of how a “real” Silverlight for Windows Embedded application is organized. As usual we can start using Expression Blend to define our main page. In this case we will have a listbox and a textblock. Here’s the XAML code: <UserControl xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" x:Class="ListDemo.Page" Width="640" Height="480" x:Name="ListPage" xmlns:ListDemo="clr-namespace:ListDemo">   <Grid x:Name="LayoutRoot" Background="White"> <ListBox Margin="19,57,19,66" x:Name="FileList" SelectionChanged="Filelist_SelectionChanged"/> <TextBlock Height="35" Margin="19,8,19,0" VerticalAlignment="Top" TextWrapping="Wrap" x:Name="CurrentDir" Text="TextBlock" FontSize="20"/> </Grid> </UserControl> In our listbox we will load a list of directories, starting from the filesystem root (there are no drives in Windows CE, the filesystem has a single root named “\”). When the user clicks on an item inside the list, the corresponding directory path will be displayed in the TextBlock object and the subdirectories of the selected branch will be shown inside the list. As you can see we declared an event handler for the SelectionChanged event of our listbox. We also used a different font size for the TextBlock, to make it more readable. XAML and Expression Blend allow you to customize your UI pretty heavily, experiment with the tools and discover how you can completely change the aspect of your application without changing a single line of code! Inside our ListBox we want to insert the directory presenting a nice icon and their name, just like you are used to see them inside Windows 7 file explorer, for example. To get this we will define a user control. This is a custom object that will behave like “regular” Silverlight for Windows Embedded objects inside our application. First of all we have to define the look of our custom control, named DirectoryItem, using XAML: <UserControl xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:d="http://schemas.microsoft.com/expression/blend/2008" xmlns:mc="http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/markup-compatibility/2006" mc:Ignorable="d" x:Class="ListDemo.DirectoryItem" Width="500" Height="80">   <StackPanel x:Name="LayoutRoot" Orientation="Horizontal"> <Canvas Width="31.6667" Height="45.9583" Margin="10,10,10,10" RenderTransformOrigin="0.5,0.5"> <Canvas.RenderTransform> <TransformGroup> <ScaleTransform/> <SkewTransform/> <RotateTransform Angle="-31.27"/> <TranslateTransform/> </TransformGroup> </Canvas.RenderTransform> <Rectangle Width="31.6667" Height="45.8414" Canvas.Left="0" Canvas.Top="0.116943" Stretch="Fill"> <Rectangle.Fill> <LinearGradientBrush StartPoint="0.142631,0.75344" EndPoint="1.01886,0.75344"> <LinearGradientBrush.RelativeTransform> <TransformGroup> <SkewTransform CenterX="0.142631" CenterY="0.75344" AngleX="19.3128" AngleY="0"/> <RotateTransform CenterX="0.142631" CenterY="0.75344" Angle="-35.3436"/> </TransformGroup> </LinearGradientBrush.RelativeTransform> <LinearGradientBrush.GradientStops> <GradientStop Color="#FF7B6802" Offset="0"/> <GradientStop Color="#FFF3D42C" Offset="1"/> </LinearGradientBrush.GradientStops> </LinearGradientBrush> </Rectangle.Fill> </Rectangle> <Rectangle Width="29.8441" Height="43.1517" Canvas.Left="0.569519" Canvas.Top="1.05249" Stretch="Fill"> <Rectangle.Fill> <LinearGradientBrush StartPoint="0.142632,0.753441" EndPoint="1.01886,0.753441"> <LinearGradientBrush.RelativeTransform> <TransformGroup> <SkewTransform CenterX="0.142632" CenterY="0.753441" AngleX="19.3127" AngleY="0"/> <RotateTransform CenterX="0.142632" CenterY="0.753441" Angle="-35.3437"/> </TransformGroup> </LinearGradientBrush.RelativeTransform> <LinearGradientBrush.GradientStops> <GradientStop Color="#FFCDCDCD" Offset="0.0833333"/> <GradientStop Color="#FFFFFFFF" Offset="1"/> </LinearGradientBrush.GradientStops> </LinearGradientBrush> </Rectangle.Fill> </Rectangle> <Rectangle Width="29.8441" Height="43.1517" Canvas.Left="0.455627" Canvas.Top="2.28036" Stretch="Fill"> <Rectangle.Fill> <LinearGradientBrush StartPoint="0.142631,0.75344" EndPoint="1.01886,0.75344"> <LinearGradientBrush.RelativeTransform> <TransformGroup> <SkewTransform CenterX="0.142631" CenterY="0.75344" AngleX="19.3128" AngleY="0"/> <RotateTransform CenterX="0.142631" CenterY="0.75344" Angle="-35.3436"/> </TransformGroup> </LinearGradientBrush.RelativeTransform> <LinearGradientBrush.GradientStops> <GradientStop Color="#FFCDCDCD" Offset="0.0833333"/> <GradientStop Color="#FFFFFFFF" Offset="1"/> </LinearGradientBrush.GradientStops> </LinearGradientBrush> </Rectangle.Fill> </Rectangle> <Rectangle Width="29.8441" Height="43.1517" Canvas.Left="0.455627" Canvas.Top="1.34485" Stretch="Fill"> <Rectangle.Fill> <LinearGradientBrush StartPoint="0.142631,0.75344" EndPoint="1.01886,0.75344"> <LinearGradientBrush.RelativeTransform> <TransformGroup> <SkewTransform CenterX="0.142631" CenterY="0.75344" AngleX="19.3128" AngleY="0"/> <RotateTransform CenterX="0.142631" CenterY="0.75344" Angle="-35.3436"/> </TransformGroup> </LinearGradientBrush.RelativeTransform> <LinearGradientBrush.GradientStops> <GradientStop Color="#FFCDCDCD" Offset="0.0833333"/> <GradientStop Color="#FFFFFFFF" Offset="1"/> </LinearGradientBrush.GradientStops> </LinearGradientBrush> </Rectangle.Fill> </Rectangle> <Rectangle Width="26.4269" Height="45.8414" Canvas.Left="0.227798" Canvas.Top="0" Stretch="Fill"> <Rectangle.Fill> <LinearGradientBrush StartPoint="0.142631,0.75344" EndPoint="1.01886,0.75344"> <LinearGradientBrush.RelativeTransform> <TransformGroup> <SkewTransform CenterX="0.142631" CenterY="0.75344" AngleX="19.3127" AngleY="0"/> <RotateTransform CenterX="0.142631" CenterY="0.75344" Angle="-35.3436"/> </TransformGroup> </LinearGradientBrush.RelativeTransform> <LinearGradientBrush.GradientStops> <GradientStop Color="#FF7B6802" Offset="0"/> <GradientStop Color="#FFF3D42C" Offset="1"/> </LinearGradientBrush.GradientStops> </LinearGradientBrush> </Rectangle.Fill> </Rectangle> <Rectangle Width="1.25301" Height="45.8414" Canvas.Left="1.70862" Canvas.Top="0.116943" Stretch="Fill" Fill="#FFEBFF07"/> </Canvas> <TextBlock Height="80" x:Name="Name" Width="448" TextWrapping="Wrap" VerticalAlignment="Center" FontSize="24" Text="Directory"/> </StackPanel> </UserControl> As you can see, this XAML contains many graphic elements. Those elements are used to design the folder icon. The original drawing has been designed in Expression Design and then exported as XAML. In Silverlight for Windows Embedded you can use vector images. This means that your images will look good even when scaled or rotated. In our DirectoryItem custom control we have a TextBlock named Name, that will be used to display….(suspense)…. the directory name (I’m too lazy to invent fancy names for controls, and using “boring” intuitive names will make code more readable, I hope!). Now that we have some XAML code, we may execute XAML2CPP to generate part of the aplication code for us. We should then add references to our XAML2CPP generated resource file and include in our code and add a reference to the XAML runtime library to our sources file (you can follow the instruction of the first tutorial step to do that), To generate the code used in this tutorial you need XAML2CPP ver 1.0.1.0, that is downloadable here: http://geekswithblogs.net/WindowsEmbeddedCookbook/archive/2010/03/08/xaml2cpp-1.0.1.0.aspx We can now create our usual simple Win32 application inside Platform Builder, using the same step described in the first chapter of this tutorial (http://geekswithblogs.net/WindowsEmbeddedCookbook/archive/2009/10/01/silverlight-for-embedded-tutorial.aspx). We can declare a class for our main page, deriving it from the template that XAML2CPP generated for us: class ListPage : public TListPage<ListPage> { ... } We will see the ListPage class code in a short time, but before we will see the code of our DirectoryItem user control. This object will be used to populate our list, one item for each directory. To declare a user control things are a bit more complicated (but also in this case XAML2CPP will write most of the “boilerplate” code for use. To interact with a user control you should declare an interface. An interface defines the functions of a user control that can be called inside the application code. Our custom control is currently quite simple and we just need some member functions to store and retrieve a full pathname inside our control. The control will display just the last part of the path inside the control. An interface is declared as a C++ class that has only abstract virtual members. It should also have an UUID associated with it. UUID means Universal Unique IDentifier and it’s a 128 bit number that will identify our interface without the need of specifying its fully qualified name. UUIDs are used to identify COM interfaces and, as we discovered in chapter one, Silverlight for Windows Embedded is based on COM or, at least, provides a COM-like Application Programming Interface (API). Here’s the declaration of the DirectoryItem interface: class __declspec(novtable,uuid("{D38C66E5-2725-4111-B422-D75B32AA8702}")) IDirectoryItem : public IXRCustomUserControl { public:   virtual HRESULT SetFullPath(BSTR fullpath) = 0; virtual HRESULT GetFullPath(BSTR* retval) = 0; }; The interface is derived from IXRCustomControl, this will allow us to add our object to a XAML tree. It declares the two functions needed to set and get the full path, but don’t implement them. Implementation will be done inside the control class. The interface only defines the functions of our control class that are accessible from the outside. It’s a sort of “contract” between our control and the applications that will use it. We must support what’s inside the contract and the application code should know nothing else about our own control. To reference our interface we will use the UUID, to make code more readable we can declare a #define in this way: #define IID_IDirectoryItem __uuidof(IDirectoryItem) Silverlight for Windows Embedded objects (like COM objects) use a reference counting mechanism to handle object destruction. Every time you store a pointer to an object you should call its AddRef function and every time you no longer need that pointer you should call Release. The object keeps an internal counter, incremented for each AddRef and decremented on Release. When the counter reaches 0, the object is destroyed. Managing reference counting in our code can be quite complicated and, since we are lazy (I am, at least!), we will use a great feature of Silverlight for Windows Embedded: smart pointers.A smart pointer can be connected to a Silverlight for Windows Embedded object and manages its reference counting. To declare a smart pointer we must use the XRPtr template: typedef XRPtr<IDirectoryItem> IDirectoryItemPtr; Now that we have defined our interface, it’s time to implement our user control class. XAML2CPP has implemented a class for us, and we have only to derive our class from it, defining the main class and interface of our new custom control: class DirectoryItem : public DirectoryItemUserControlRegister<DirectoryItem,IDirectoryItem> { ... } XAML2CPP has generated some code for us to support the user control, we don’t have to mind too much about that code, since it will be generated (or written by hand, if you like) always in the same way, for every user control. But knowing how does this works “under the hood” is still useful to understand the architecture of Silverlight for Windows Embedded. Our base class declaration is a bit more complex than the one we used for a simple page in the previous chapters: template <class A,class B> class DirectoryItemUserControlRegister : public XRCustomUserControlImpl<A,B>,public TDirectoryItem<A,XAML2CPPUserControl> { ... } This class derives from the XAML2CPP generated template class, like the ListPage class, but it uses XAML2CPPUserControl for the implementation of some features. This class shares the same ancestor of XAML2CPPPage (base class for “regular” XAML pages), XAML2CPPBase, implements binding of member variables and event handlers but, instead of loading and creating its own XAML tree, it attaches to an existing one. The XAML tree (and UI) of our custom control is created and loaded by the XRCustomUserControlImpl class. This class is part of the Silverlight for Windows Embedded framework and implements most of the functions needed to build-up a custom control in Silverlight (the guys that developed Silverlight for Windows Embedded seem to care about lazy programmers!). We have just to initialize it, providing our class (DirectoryItem) and interface (IDirectoryItem). Our user control class has also a static member: protected:   static HINSTANCE hInstance; This is used to store the HINSTANCE of the modules that contain our user control class. I don’t like this implementation, but I can’t find a better one, so if somebody has good ideas about how to handle the HINSTANCE object, I’ll be happy to hear suggestions! It also implements two static members required by XRCustomUserControlImpl. The first one is used to load the XAML UI of our custom control: static HRESULT GetXamlSource(XRXamlSource* pXamlSource) { pXamlSource->SetResource(hInstance,TEXT("XAML"),IDR_XAML_DirectoryItem); return S_OK; }   It initializes a XRXamlSource object, connecting it to the XAML resource that XAML2CPP has included in our resource script. The other method is used to register our custom control, allowing Silverlight for Windows Embedded to create it when it load some XAML or when an application creates a new control at runtime (more about this later): static HRESULT Register() { return XRCustomUserControlImpl<A,B>::Register(__uuidof(B), L"DirectoryItem", L"clr-namespace:DirectoryItemNamespace"); } To register our control we should provide its interface UUID, the name of the corresponding element in the XAML tree and its current namespace (namespaces compatible with Silverlight must use the “clr-namespace” prefix. We may also register additional properties for our objects, allowing them to be loaded and saved inside XAML. In this case we have no permanent properties and the Register method will just register our control. An additional static method is implemented to allow easy registration of our custom control inside our application WinMain function: static HRESULT RegisterUserControl(HINSTANCE hInstance) { DirectoryItemUserControlRegister::hInstance=hInstance; return DirectoryItemUserControlRegister<A,B>::Register(); } Now our control is registered and we will be able to create it using the Silverlight for Windows Embedded runtime functions. But we need to bind our members and event handlers to have them available like we are used to do for other XAML2CPP generated objects. To bind events and members we need to implement the On_Loaded function: virtual HRESULT OnLoaded(__in IXRDependencyObject* pRoot) { HRESULT retcode; IXRApplicationPtr app; if (FAILED(retcode=GetXRApplicationInstance(&app))) return retcode; return ((A*)this)->Init(pRoot,hInstance,app); } This function will call the XAML2CPPUserControl::Init member that will connect the “root” member with the XAML sub tree that has been created for our control and then calls BindObjects and BindEvents to bind members and events to our code. Now we can go back to our application code (the code that you’ll have to actually write) to see the contents of our DirectoryItem class: class DirectoryItem : public DirectoryItemUserControlRegister<DirectoryItem,IDirectoryItem> { protected:   WCHAR fullpath[_MAX_PATH+1];   public:   DirectoryItem() { *fullpath=0; }   virtual HRESULT SetFullPath(BSTR fullpath) { wcscpy_s(this->fullpath,fullpath);   WCHAR* p=fullpath;   for(WCHAR*q=wcsstr(p,L"\\");q;p=q+1,q=wcsstr(p,L"\\")) ;   Name->SetText(p); return S_OK; }   virtual HRESULT GetFullPath(BSTR* retval) { *retval=SysAllocString(fullpath); return S_OK; } }; It’s pretty easy and contains a fullpath member (used to store that path of the directory connected with the user control) and the implementation of the two interface members that can be used to set and retrieve the path. The SetFullPath member parses the full path and displays just the last branch directory name inside the “Name” TextBlock object. As you can see, implementing a user control in Silverlight for Windows Embedded is not too complex and using XAML also for the UI of the control allows us to re-use the same mechanisms that we learnt and used in the previous steps of our tutorial. Now let’s see how the main page is managed by the ListPage class. class ListPage : public TListPage<ListPage> { protected:   // current path TCHAR curpath[_MAX_PATH+1]; It has a member named “curpath” that is used to store the current directory. It’s initialized inside the constructor: ListPage() { *curpath=0; } And it’s value is displayed inside the “CurrentDir” TextBlock inside the initialization function: virtual HRESULT Init(HINSTANCE hInstance,IXRApplication* app) { HRESULT retcode;   if (FAILED(retcode=TListPage<ListPage>::Init(hInstance,app))) return retcode;   CurrentDir->SetText(L"\\"); return S_OK; } The FillFileList function is used to enumerate subdirectories of the current dir and add entries for each one inside the list box that fills most of the client area of our main page: HRESULT FillFileList() { HRESULT retcode; IXRItemCollectionPtr items; IXRApplicationPtr app;   if (FAILED(retcode=GetXRApplicationInstance(&app))) return retcode; // retrieves the items contained in the listbox if (FAILED(retcode=FileList->GetItems(&items))) return retcode;   // clears the list if (FAILED(retcode=items->Clear())) return retcode;   // enumerates files and directory in the current path WCHAR filemask[_MAX_PATH+1];   wcscpy_s(filemask,curpath); wcscat_s(filemask,L"\\*.*");   WIN32_FIND_DATA finddata; HANDLE findhandle;   findhandle=FindFirstFile(filemask,&finddata);   // the directory is empty? if (findhandle==INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE) return S_OK;   do { if (finddata.dwFileAttributes&=FILE_ATTRIBUTE_DIRECTORY) { IXRListBoxItemPtr listboxitem;   // add a new item to the listbox if (FAILED(retcode=app->CreateObject(IID_IXRListBoxItem,&listboxitem))) { FindClose(findhandle); return retcode; }   if (FAILED(retcode=items->Add(listboxitem,NULL))) { FindClose(findhandle); return retcode; }   IDirectoryItemPtr directoryitem;   if (FAILED(retcode=app->CreateObject(IID_IDirectoryItem,&directoryitem))) { FindClose(findhandle); return retcode; }   WCHAR fullpath[_MAX_PATH+1];   wcscpy_s(fullpath,curpath); wcscat_s(fullpath,L"\\"); wcscat_s(fullpath,finddata.cFileName);   if (FAILED(retcode=directoryitem->SetFullPath(fullpath))) { FindClose(findhandle); return retcode; }   XAML2CPPXRValue value((IXRDependencyObject*)directoryitem);   if (FAILED(retcode=listboxitem->SetContent(&value))) { FindClose(findhandle); return retcode; } } } while (FindNextFile(findhandle,&finddata));   FindClose(findhandle); return S_OK; } This functions retrieve a pointer to the collection of the items contained in the directory listbox. The IXRItemCollection interface is used by listboxes and comboboxes and allow you to clear the list (using Clear(), as our function does at the beginning) and change its contents by adding and removing elements. This function uses the FindFirstFile/FindNextFile functions to enumerate all the objects inside our current directory and for each subdirectory creates a IXRListBoxItem object. You can insert any kind of control inside a list box, you don’t need a IXRListBoxItem, but using it will allow you to handle the selected state of an item, highlighting it inside the list. The function creates a list box item using the CreateObject function of XRApplication. The same function is then used to create an instance of our custom control. The function returns a pointer to the control IDirectoryItem interface and we can use it to store the directory full path inside the object and add it as content of the IXRListBox item object, adding it to the listbox contents. The listbox generates an event (SelectionChanged) each time the user clicks on one of the items contained in the listbox. We implement an event handler for that event and use it to change our current directory and repopulate the listbox. The current directory full path will be displayed in the TextBlock: HRESULT Filelist_SelectionChanged(IXRDependencyObject* source,XRSelectionChangedEventArgs* args) { HRESULT retcode;   IXRListBoxItemPtr listboxitem;   if (!args->pAddedItem) return S_OK;   if (FAILED(retcode=args->pAddedItem->QueryInterface(IID_IXRListBoxItem,(void**)&listboxitem))) return retcode;   XRValue content; if (FAILED(retcode=listboxitem->GetContent(&content))) return retcode;   if (content.vType!=VTYPE_OBJECT) return E_FAIL;   IDirectoryItemPtr directoryitem;   if (FAILED(retcode=content.pObjectVal->QueryInterface(IID_IDirectoryItem,(void**)&directoryitem))) return retcode;   content.pObjectVal->Release(); content.pObjectVal=NULL;   BSTR fullpath=NULL;   if (FAILED(retcode=directoryitem->GetFullPath(&fullpath))) return retcode;   CurrentDir->SetText(fullpath);   wcscpy_s(curpath,fullpath); FillFileList(); SysFreeString(fullpath);     return S_OK; } }; The function uses the pAddedItem member of the XRSelectionChangedEventArgs object to retrieve the currently selected item, converts it to a IXRListBoxItem interface using QueryInterface, and then retrives its contents (IDirectoryItem object). Using the GetFullPath method we can get the full path of our selected directory and assing it to the curdir member. A call to FillFileList will update the listbox contents, displaying the list of subdirectories of the selected folder. To build our sample we just need to add code to our WinMain function: int WINAPI WinMain(HINSTANCE hInstance, HINSTANCE hPrevInstance, LPTSTR lpCmdLine, int nCmdShow) { if (!XamlRuntimeInitialize()) return -1;   HRESULT retcode;   IXRApplicationPtr app; if (FAILED(retcode=GetXRApplicationInstance(&app))) return -1;   if (FAILED(retcode=DirectoryItem::RegisterUserControl(hInstance))) return retcode;   ListPage page;   if (FAILED(page.Init(hInstance,app))) return -1;   page.FillFileList();   UINT exitcode;   if (FAILED(page.GetVisualHost()->StartDialog(&exitcode))) return -1;   return 0; } This code is very similar to the one of the WinMains of our previous samples. The main differences are that we register our custom control (you should do that as soon as you have initialized the XAML runtime) and call FillFileList after the initialization of our ListPage object to load the contents of the root folder of our device inside the listbox. As usual you can download the full sample source code from here: http://cid-9b7b0aefe3514dc5.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/.Public/ListBoxTest.zip
