  • @Transactional in Spring+Hibernate

    I an using Spring 3.1 + Hibernate 4.x in my web application. In my DAO, i am saving User type object as following sessionFactory.getCurrentSession().save(user); But getting following exception: org.hibernate.HibernateException: save is not valid without active transaction I googled and found similar question on SO, with following solution: Session session=getSessionFactory().getCurrentSession(); Transaction trans=session.beginTransaction(); session.save(entity); trans.commit(); That solves the problem. But in that solution, there is lot of mess of beginning and committing the transactions manually. Can't i use sessionFactory.getCurrentSession().save(user); directly without begin/commit of transactions manually? I try to use @Transactional on my service/dao methods too, but the problem persists.   • Instantiating custom PropertySourcesPlaceholderConfigurer from spring context

    I want to define a custom PropertySourcesPlaceholderConfigurer in spring context xml. I want to use there multiple PropertySources, so that I can load part of the configuration from several property files and provide other part dynamically by my custom PropertySource implementation. The advantage is that it should be then easy to adjust the order of loading these property sources just by making modifications to the xml spring configuration. And here I run into a problem: how to define an arbitrary list of PropertySources and inject it into PropertySourcesPlaceholderConfigurer, so that it uses the sources defined by me? Seems to be a basic thing that should be provided by spring, but since yesterday I cannot find a way to do it. Using namespace would enable me to load several property files, but I also need to define the id of the PropertySourcesPlaceholderConfigurer (as other projects refer to it), and also I want to use my custom implementation. That is why I am defining the bean explicitly and not using the namespace. The most intuitive way would be to inject a list of PropertySources into PropertySourcesPlaceholderConfigurer like this: <bean id="applicationPropertyPlaceholderConfigurer" class="org.springframework.context.support.PropertySourcesPlaceholderConfigurer"> <property name="ignoreUnresolvablePlaceholders" value="true" /> <property name="ignoreResourceNotFound" value="true" /> <property name="order" value="0"/> <property name="propertySources"> <list> <!-- my PropertySource objects --> </list> </property> </bean> but unfortunately propertySources is of type PropertySources and does not accept a list. The PropertySources interface has one and only implementor which is MutablePropertySources, which indeed stores list of PropertySource objects, but has no constructor nor setter through which I can inject this list. It only has add*(PropertySource) methods. The only workaround I see now is to implement my own PropertySources class, extending MutablePropertySources, which would accept list of PropertySource objects on creation and manually add it via using add*(PropertySource) method. But why so much workaround would be needed to provide something that I thought was supposed to be the main reason of introducing the PropertySources (having flexible configuration manageable from spring configuration level). Please clarify what am I getting wrong :)

  • Kernel Error during upgrade or update commands

    I am getting these errors during sudo apt-get update and upgrade... I tried all possible options no success. I recently upgraded to 13.04 and had problems with Broadcom WiFi. Fixed tat issues using the clean script... but looks like it did not install the Kernel properly..     I'd like to blacklist a couple of modules, namely drm, drm_kms_helper, i2c_algo_bit and i915 to not allow my integrated Intel GPU to ever be used, but instead my Nvidia MXM card. I inserted the following lines into /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf: blacklist i915 blacklist drm blacklist drm_kms_helper blacklist i2c_algo_bit Despite the above right after rebooting my laptop and typing lsmod I can see these modules loaded. Why does my blacklist get utterly disrespected and what can I do about it?

  • How to add custom SOAP-Header element to the generated WSDL in Spring-WS

    Hi, we are migrating from WebLogic web-services to Spring-WS (1.5.X). There is currently one issue we are facing: We need to pass a context object (on WLS it is passed as SOAP-Header element) to other services that are still running on WLS from the Spring-WS powered service. The header element is still formulated on client side and the newly created WS (Spring-WS) should just pass it to other services. I can imagine how the custom element would be passed: override the doWithMessage(WebServiceMessage message) method... Is there a way to generate the wsdl with the help of DefaultWsdl11Definition to contain that custom header element?     To begin I know about http://blog.kadirpekel.com/2009/11/09/facebook-connect-integration-with-spring-security/ The only problem is that it completely replaces the Form Login with Facebook Connect. I have the native form login in place, I also have Facebook Connect in place, Upon gathering user information I link it to a native account but without a password. At that point I would like to call a link or method to start process of going into the Spring Security Filter Chain. Here is the source code that works, but am trying to modify. It contains all the files I'm taking about. Now from what I understand I need to add a custom FacebookAuthenticationProvider so that my AuthenticationManager knows about it. <bean id="facebookAuthenticationProvider" class="org.springframework.security.facebook.FacebookAuthenticationProvider"> </bean> <security:authentication-manager alias="authenticationManager"> <security:authentication-provider ref="facebookAuthenticationProvider" /> </security:authentication-manager> Then within the FacebookAuthenticationProvider I would have to call an FacebookAuthenticationToken that would take my the current facebook Uid and SessionKey of the user. Then try authenticate this Token. So where does the FacebookAuthenticationFilter come into it? I'm just trying to understand the order at which these 3 files are called. As if you were trying to implement any other custom authentication.     Hi all, I want to write some integration tests to see how my spring-managed DAO's behave when talking to the appengine datastore. Following the spring manual I will be providing my test-classes with the proper annotations: @RunWith(SpringJUnit4ClassRunner.class) @ContextConfiguration(locations = { "classpath:applicationContext.xml" }) After a lot of browsing I found this blog post dating back to august '09 from somebody doing exactly what I want to achieve. It involves writing a TestEnvironment class that implements ApiProxy.Environment plus talking to ApiProxyLocalImpl. However, if I look at the current docs (for version 1.3.1), it seems that this has been replaced by newing an instance of the framework provided LocalDatastoreServiceTestConfig which is passed to a LocalServiceTestHelper. It is too bad that the appengine docs don't show an example how to do this with JPA because then the spring wiring would be trivial. Trying to follow the route outlined in the blog posting has me running into a compiler messages telling me that classes such as ApiProxyLocalImpl are not visible by me. Hence, there must be a new way of doing it, which probably involves the LocalServiceTestHelper. My question: Does anybody know how? I know I will need to configure an EntityManagerFactory and provide it with the Datastore connection somehow... but how? :)

    I was trying to follow this tutorial in order to create my own restful web-service using Spring framework. In my app-servlet.xml i copied this lines: <bean id="studentsView" class="org.springframework.web.servlet.view.xml.MarshallingView"> <constructor-arg ref="jaxbMarshaller" /> </bean> <!-- JAXB2 marshaller. Let's say i want a tag containing the String version of an InetAddress, such as <inetAddress>192.168.1.1</inetAddress> How can i force JAXB to call the method inetAddress.toString() in such a way that it appears as a String in the xml? In the returned xml non-string objects are ignored!

    Hi all, I have a issue with my Spring.Net configuration where its not injecting an object. I have a CommService to which an object named GeneralEmail is injected to. In one scenario, I need to call the commnucation service from an static WebMethod. I try doing: CommService cso = new CommService(); But when i try to get the emailService object, its null! why didn't the spring inject the GeneralMail object into my cso object?   • Long running transactions with Spring and Hibernate?

    The underlying problem I want to solve is running a task that generates several temporary tables in MySQL, which need to stay around long enough to fetch results from Java after they are created. Because of the size of the data involved, the task must be completed in batches. Each batch is a call to a stored procedure called through JDBC. The entire process can take half an hour or more for a large data set. To ensure access to the temporary tables, I run the entire task, start to finish, in a single Spring transaction with a TransactionCallbackWithoutResult. Otherwise, I could get a different connection that does not have access to the temporary tables (this would happen occasionally before I wrapped everything in a transaction). This worked fine in my development environment. However, in production I got the following exception: java.sql.SQLException: Lock wait timeout exceeded; try restarting transaction This happened when a different task tried to access some of the same tables during the execution of my long running transaction. What confuses me is that the long running transaction only inserts or updates into temporary tables. All access to non-temporary tables are selects only. From what documentation I can find, the default Spring transaction isolation level should not cause MySQL to block in this case. So my first question, is this the right approach? Can I ensure that I repeatedly get the same connection through a Hibernate template without a long running transaction? If the long running transaction approach is the correct one, what should I check in terms of isolation levels? Is my understanding correct that the default isolation level in Spring/MySQL transactions should not lock tables that are only accessed through selects? What can I do to debug which tables are causing the conflict, and prevent those tables from being locked by the transaction?

    We work with a web application and autowire beans using WebApplicationContextUtils in the init method. Could you clarify some details about bean initialization? The question rises from the static factory method. Suppose there's a bean that is created in a static factory method. As we can see, when the web app is deployed, the ContextLoaderListener initializes all the beans present in Spring xml config file. Now happens such a thing. In the static factory method we run a timer that starts ticking. But in reality we wouldn't want it to start ticking unless the bean is injected into a property of the object ! That is question number one - all the beans are automatically initialized on deploy - correct? And after that when we need an injection, it simply feels the link with the address of the object created during initialization, though OBJECT WAS CREATED ON WEB APP DEPLOY, immediately ! (I assume the default singleton-creation Spring behavior) Second question: are all copies of a web app use the same beans, so all beans are WEB-APP wide, every Spring bean is shared between all the copies of this web app running?

    I am using ActiveMq 5.32 with Spring 2.5.5. I use pretty generic configuration, as long as I include the jmsTransactionManager in DefaultMessageListenerContainer, Spring throw an error on start up: "Error creating bean with name 'org.springframework.jms.listener.DefaultMessageListenerContainer#0'" Without the transactionManager attribute , this works fine, but when I add 10 messages to the message queue, a transaction exception will occur. Part of my configurations : <bean class="org.springframework.jms.listener.DefaultMessageListenerContainer"> <property name="connectionFactory" ref="connectionFactory" /> <property name="destination" ref="emailDestination" /> <property name="messageListener" ref="emailServiceMDP" /> <property name="transactionManager" ref="jmsTransactionManager" /> </bean> <bean id="jmsTransactionManager" class="org.springframework.jms.connection.JmsTransactionManager"> <property name="connectionFactory" ref="connectionFactory" /> </bean> Does this version of Spring and Activemq has some know issues in integration ?     Using Spring I've had some issues with doing a dependency injection on an annotated Aspect class. CacheService is injected upon the Spring context's startup, but when the weaving takes place, it says that the cacheService is null. So I am forced to relook up the spring context manually and get the bean from there. Is there another way of going about it?     I am trying to install VirtualBox on my Ubuntu. I first tried to sudo apt-get install virtualbox-ose in a terminal, but after the configuration step, it fails with an error: No suitable module for running kernel found When proceeding with starting virtualbox, I get this error: WARNING: The character device /dev/vboxdrv does not exist. Please install the virtualbox-ose-dkms package and the appropriate headers, most likely linux-headers-generic. You will not be able to start VMs until this problem is fixed. So I tried the package from http://www.virtualbox.org/, but starting VirtualBox fails with: WARNING: The vboxdrv kernel module is not loaded. Either there is no module available for the current kernel (2.6.38-8-generic-pae) or it failed to load. Please recompile the kernel module and install it by sudo /etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup You will not be able to start VMs until this problem is fixed. This worked for healinghands.loc but not for dev.loc i really do not understand why, both config are exactly the same except for de documentroot. I will continue searching
