• How to use jQuery qTip - Simple Example pls

  Hi, Would appreciate if someone could pls show me a simple example of how to setup and use qTip jquery plugin for a tooltip to display at the bottom-left of where I hover over an image. I've tried following the demos/examples from the site: qTip but just can't seem to get it working. I am unsure if I need to include the HTML Structure in the documentation and if so, where do I place it? Does this plugin also require a CSS file of some sort? Anywyays would really appreciate if someone could explain/setup an example of using qtip. Would also apreciate if I'm not redirected back to the qTip demo page. Thanks.

• WPD MTP data stream hanging on Release

  I've come across a weird problem when reading data from a MTP-compatible mobile device using the WPD (Windows Portable Devices) API, under Windows 8 (not tried any other Windows versions yet). The symptom is, when calling Release on an IStream interface obtained via the IPortableDeviceResources::GetStream function, occasionally the Release call will hang and not return until the device is disconnected from the PC. After some experimentation I've discovered that this never happens as long as the entire contents of the stream have been read. But if the stream has only been partially read (say, the first 256Kb of the file), it can happen seemingly at random (although quite frequently). This has been reproduced with an iPhone and a Windows Phone 8 mobile, so it does not seem to be device-specific. Has anyone come across this sort of issue before? And more importantly, does anyone know of a way to solve it other than by always reading the entire contents of the stream? Thanks!

• ExtJs How do I scroll to the bottom of a grid?

  I am making a web-based logviewer using extjs. I would like new log-lines to be added to the bottom of my gridview as it saves cpu by not requiring a sort to move it to the top of the grid (plus its how my coworkers prefer it). My problem is that ideally the grid would scroll to the bottom after a new row is added. I have been looking through the documentation and I cannot figure out how to do this. I just see a method to scroll to the top. Any ideas? Thanks!

  Using CakePHP 1.3 there are named parameters in the URL like .../name:value/... These are used for example by pagination links .../page:2/key:date/sort:desc/... How to generate links with HtmlHelper::link() adding/deleting such named parameters from the current URL? Basically I want create links to add/remove/modify the category:ID named parameter in the current URL. It must not touch the URL, anchor, other named parameters, GET parameters in the URL. Or how can I pass named parameters to HtmlHelper::link()?

• [PHP] Singleton class and using inheritance

  I have am working on a web application that makes use of helper classes. These classes hold functions to various operation such as form handling. Sometimes I need these classes at more than one spot in my application, The way I do it now is to make a new Object. I can't pass the variable, this will be too much work. I was wondering of using singleton classes for this. This way I am sure only one instance is running at a time. My question however is when I use this pattern, should I make a singleton class for all the objects, this would b a lot of code replication. Could I instead make a super class of superHelper, which is a singleton class, and then let every helper extend it. Would this sort of set up work, or is there another alternative? And if it works, does someone have any suggestions on how to code such a superHelper class. Thank you guys

• What is the easiest way to deploy a MVC2 application from Visaul Studio 2010 to IIS 7.5?

  I´ve tried a couple of different ways to deploy a application to a IIS 7.5 running on my machine for testing purposes and i´ve sort of hit a wall. Nothing works out of the box. Everything assumes I have knowledge I don't have and would prefer not to have to aqquire. Google isn't really helping either with answers ranging from "copy files by hand" to "install teamcity and set it up for CI". I have set up TeamCity for java projects before and it's really over kill for my needs at the moment. So anyone know of a fast, simple and easy way to deploy a application during testing/building?

• C# WinForms ErrorProvider Control

  Hi Does anyone know if there is a way to get a list of controls that have the ErrorProvider icon active. ie. any controls that failed validation. I'm trying to avoid looping all controls in the form. I'd like to display some sort of message indicating how many errors there are on the form. As my form contains tabs I'm trying to make it apparent to the user that errors may exist on inactive tabs and they need to check all tabs. Thanks Barry

• jquery livequery event triggered on EVERYTHING, not just selected element.

  I am attempting to use livequery. I unfortunately am stuck using jquery 1.2.6. This is my code: $(document).ready(function() { $('a.sort').livequery('click', function(event) { alert('hello'); }); }); If I click ANYWHERE in the document, I get the alert 'hello'. What exactly is wrong there? Is it some bug with jQ1.2.6 and livequery 1.1.1? This same question was asked here but the question wasn't clear, and the answer didn't help.

• Base 36 to Base 10 conversion using SQL only.

  A situation has arisen where I need to perform a base 36 to base 10 conversion, in the context of a SQL statement. There doesn't appear to be anything built into Oracle 9, or Oracle 10 to address this sort of thing. My Google-Fu, and AskTom suggest creating a pl/sql function to deal with the task. That is not an option for me at this point. I am looking for suggestions on an approach to take that might help me solve this issue. To put this into a visual form... • Installing flex on Mac Parallels

  Hello folks, I am trying to install Flex 3 on my Windows 7 Virtual machine (parallels desktop) on my Mac Pro. The problem seems to be some sort of conflict between the copy of Flex 3 Builder installed on Mac OS X. The installer tries to install Flex in x:/Program Files/Adobe/Flex Builder 3/ but since Parallels Desktop connects all directories, there resides the Flex Builder 3 installation of MAC. • What is the best way of doing this?

  Hey, I am wondering how exactly the below pagination systems are set up? In terms of the how the data is displayed, for instance, does BuySellAds load all results in from database and then paginate that data so filter can be done easier? or, do they call the database every time a new page is loaded and then grab the info and display it? I really would like to know how both BuySellAds and Nike make their pagination systems, since I have to make a similar system that has many filters and options to easily sort through the data from a database. I want to accomplish this with php and jquery if that's what I even need to use. • Silverlight local storage

  As you may know Silverlight has support for local storage. We are looking at creating Sl application that will work in off line mode. This application may require quite a bit of data to be cached on the client side. Obvious solution - use local storage with some sort of XMl based structure won't work as our PoC showed due to performance issues. We are looking at several 3rd party solutions that implement light database engines on top of SL local storage. If you have solved this problem in the past or have any ideas - I would appreciate some pointers and ideas.

• Object mapping in objective-c (iphone) from JSON

  For my iPhone app, I'm consuming a RESTful service and getting JSON. I've found libraries to deserialize this into an NSDictionary. However, I'm wondering if there are any libraries to deserialize the JSON/NSDictionary/Property List into my object (an arbitrary one on my side). The java equivalent would be the object-relational mappers although the sort of object mapping I'm looking for is relatively straightforward (simple data types, no complex relationships, etc.). I noticed that Objective-C does have introspection so it seems theoretically possible but I haven't found a library to do it. Or is there a simple way to load an object from an NSDictionary/Property List object that doesn't require modification every time the object changes? For example: { "id" : "user1", "name" : "mister foobar" "age" : 20 } gets loaded into object @interface User : NSObject { NSString *id; NSString *name; int *age; }

  Ok so I am taking a screen shot of a photo I took with my camera on the iPhone.   So I have binded a List to a ListView where the List has items of type Album, where it has lots of properties including .Cover, which I is an image on disk. Well since I don't know what type of image is needed and how they have to be loaded (I only know using Image types for Winforms), I don't know the type yet. Can someone show or post me a quick sample where it shows this sort of items being shown as images of a certain fixed size using their .Cover property? In essence this would show: What type .Cover should be How to open images from disk for WFP (assuming it's different than Winforms image loading) How to show them on a ListView as images of a certain fixed size, scaling the images if necessary

• Unix [Homework]: Get a list of /home/user/ directories in /etc/passwd

  I'm very new to Unix, and currently taking a class learning the basics of the system and its commands. I'm looking for a single command line to list off all of the user home directories in alphabetical order from the /etc/passwd directory. This applies only to the home directories, and not the contents within them. There should be no duplicate entries. I've tried many permutations of commands such as the following: sort -d | find /etc/passwd /home/* -type -d | uniq | less I've tried using -path, -name, removing -type, using -prune, and changing the search pattern to things like /home/*/$, but haven't gotten good results once. At best I can get a list of my own directory (complete with every directory inside it, which is bad), and the directories of the other students on the server (without the contained directories, which is good). I just can't get it to display the /home/user directories and nothing else for my own account. Many thanks in advance.

• WCF Windows Service Monitor and process emails

  Hello, I need your suggestions in solving this issue. Here is the requirement. We have a Microsoft Exchange server and we have a service email account [email protected]. We have scanners all owner the company when a user scans a document and email is sent to [email protected] as attachment. Now I need to write a Windows service which needs to monitor that email account and whenever an email is received, read the attachement and store it in the database. What I'm trying to do is handling a sort of RowAdded or RowDataBound (like in aspx GridView) event. The only event that I found is RowsAdded but no matter how many items I have, it is fired only 4 times the first time i bound, and twice the other times, with values e.RowCount:1 e.RowIndex:0 e.RowCount:[n-1] e.RowIndex:1 *where n is the number of my items is there a way I can get to a handle for each item?

• Changes in gcc/persistence of optimization flags gcc/C

  Just curious. Using gcc/gdb under Ubuntu 9.10. Reading a C book that also often gives the disassembly of the object file. When reading in January, my disassembly looks a lot like the book's; now, it's quite different - possibly more optimized (I notice some re-arrangements in the assembly code now that, at least in the files I checked, look optimized). I have used optimization options -O1 - -O3 for gcc between the first and second read, but not before the first. (1) Is the use of optimization options persistent, aka, if you use them once, you'll use them until switching them off? That would be weird (browsed man file and at least did not see anything to that sort). In the unlikely case that it is true, how do you switch them off? (2) Has gcc's assembly changed through any recent upgrade? (3) Does gcc sometimes produce (significantly) different assembly code although same compile options are chosen? Thanks much.

  I'm looking for a way to programmatically alter the video properties in Windows 7. I'd like to toggle the Multiple display state (as seen in Control Panel Appearances and Personalization Display Screen Resolution) between "Extend these displays" and "Show desktop only on 1". This is the sort of thing that I think is probably doable just by knowing the right Windows executable/dll to invoke with the right parameters and bundling that into a script or shortcut, but if so that information eludes me. Actual code solutions are fine, of course, but I'd like the change to be permanent and not just disable the other monitor(s) for the duration of the application.

• How do I copy the layout from a header of a JTabbedPane onto a JPanel?

  I have created a "CollapsingPanel"class/sort of a JTabbedPane (code skeleton can be found at http://www.coderanch.com/t/341737/Swing-AWT-SWT-JFace/java/Expand-Collapse-Panels). It is in other words a lot of headers which you click on to show a hidden Panel. At the moment these header-panels are a rectangular box with a LineBorder around them. That is ugly! I'm wondering if there is a way to copy the layout that the JTabbedPane uses for its headers/titles (which is inhierted from Look&Feel I assume) and use it on my JPanel-based headers? So that my headers get a smooth look which is in line with the rest of the program (based on Look&Feel!) instead of looking like alien flat blocks. • Identify valid server in XML-RPC request using PHP

  I'm working on a client-server system, where the client makes XMLRPC requests to the server. The client part of the system is handed to a third-party, meaning that he could eventually modify the code or re-route the xmlrpc requests. Now, hoping the third-party won't modify the code, I need a way to make sure that the server the client script is contacting is actually MY server (cause, the person could somehow reroute the requests to his own server where he could make up some xml responses, not what I want). Is there a way to identify a server using PHP? Some sort of SSL connection? Hope you guys understand me. Cheers.
