• ViewSonic LCD Monitor Touch-input

  I bought a used 15" ViewSonic LCD monitor (VP150m) and noticed that it has a 3.5mm connector on the back labeled “touch i/o”. I’m trying to figure out how to use the touch function but am having trouble finding anything useful. First, I cannot find any information on what kind of cable it uses (TS, TRS, TRRS, etc.), or how to connect it to the computer. Second, I cannot find touch drivers for it—though I can find a page that mentions how easy it is to install them. Does anyone have any information on using the touchscreen function of the VP150m? • How can I get the comment of the current authorized_keys ssh key ?

  Edit: What I really need to know WHICH ssh key from authorized_keys has been used to identify the currently logged on user. According to "man sshd": Protocol 2 public key consist of options, keytype, base64-encoded key, comment. I see that when I use ssh-keygen, the comment is usually the local identity of the user. Is there any way to access this value when I'm on the remote computer ? (Kind of like the SSH_CLIENT shell variable) (Assuming I enforce the comment to be a remote identity of some sort, I would like to log this from a shell-script! This is on ubuntu)

  Suppose I have an EXCEL sheet with below data CODE (COL A) | VALUE (COL B) ============================== A01 | 10 A01 | 20 A01 | 30 A01 | 10 B01 | 30 B01 | 30 Is there an EXCEL function working like .. SELECT CODE, count (Distinct *) FROM TABLE GROUP BY CODE CODE | Distinct Count of Value =================================== A01 | 3 B01 | 1 or, better yet, Can we have an excel formula pasted in Column C to get something like this: CODE (COL A) | VALUE (COL B) | DISTINCT VALUE COUNT WITH MATCHING CODE (COL C) =============================================================================== A01 | 10 | 3 A01 | 20 | 3 A01 | 30 | 3 A01 | 10 | 3 B01 | 30 | 1 B01 | 30 | 1 I know I can use pivot table to get this result easily. However due to reporting requirements I have to append the "distinct count" column to the excel sheet, hence pivot table is not an option.   I have an excel sheet for groceries. One column is the name, another is whether to buy it or not (checkbox) and another is the amount. I'd like to have a widget in the top row so that I start typing an item's name and it shows a list of matching items that I can select from, or if I continue to type and there's only one item, completes its name. When the last item is selected, other widgets show the amount, which I can edit and clicking 'check' will check the item in the list. I know this is kind of very specific, but am hoping someone can at least get me started. Thank you, Ittay

The adapter states the following: 100-240V~0.65A, 50/60Hz Output 12V===2A Will it be safe to use the adapter in these countries to charge my device, or do I have to buy new ones there?   Experts ! i have a machine with vista home premium and i wanted to share a folder with my colleagues unfortunately i vista allow only 10 concurrent connections to a shared folder one of my colleagues advised me to install a Virtual machine with windows server 2003 so that i will be able to share the folder with more than 1000 user. another colleague stated that the kind of virtual server does not matter, what matters is the host OS, in this case vista. so the folder will be shared by no more than 10 users. my Question is Does Virtual Machines with Microsoft server 2003 with Host operating system Vista Home Premium suffer from Vista contraints?

I'm quite new to Linux .i know how to install software but i don't know 1: how to install library .a or .so files i: how to install tar.gz i use the method like ./configure. make make install but most of the time i got the message nothing to make .in lots of tar.gz there is no installation document no make file no .configure file that make me quite confused how to install them or run them now i got sample source code of cuda i got them in tar.gz form when i extract them i found a folder in folder i found folder like c ,doc,shared etc when i open each folder i found more folder n file like that src, doc common ,lib, in these folder i found source code file header files libraries file make files i don't know how to run this kind of project can the be installed on the system how to run them they don't have .run file or script they don't have configure file can any one explain me how to compile them ,how to run them & how to install them

• Synced audio ouput on multiple machines? VLC? hardware solutions?

  I'm wondering if there is any software or hardware solutions to synced audio or audio and video across multiple computers or devices on a network. I've seen Sonos, and it might be a good solution, but it's also a very expensive solution. I'd like to be able to play something with realtime audio output on one PC, but hear it on speakers throughout the house, being it the home theater receiver, or another computer in another room. I saw a solution using the apple iport express, but the latency was unacceptable for anything other than just music. I'd like to avoid running audio wires with baluns to a bunch of amplifiers scattered all over the place when I have cat5 run everywhere. Is anyone familiar with using this kind of process for whole home audio? The latency is a big deal for me, if I've got video attached to the sound (e.g. watching a hockey game)

  I've been a Mac user for ages and I don't have any copy of Windows (xp, vista or 7). So I need to make a clean install on my custom built pc currently running Linux. I have found some information regarding the existence of a "Windows 8 pro system builder" which will allow clean installs in blank disks without any pre-requisites for prior Windows versions, but all information is very vague and without references. Does anyone know how to do this kind of installation? Where can I buy the Windows 8 system builder?

• Explaining svn / apache permissions error? (I know "how" but not "why")

  I have the following error occurring on occasion when trying to do an svn switch (have it set up to do via a web request): svn: Can't open file '/root/.subversion/servers': Permission denied This happens after an apache httpd.conf change and corresponding restart. How to fix this? I can get it to fix by doing an apache restart - BUT, it often takes multiple tries. Curious if anybody can explain this. Why did this error go away on my 8th apache restart, but not on the prior ones (with no edits to the conf file)? Basically, I kind of have a "how" in terms of solving this, but I don't have a "why" . . . Thanks!

• Apache Tomcat - Responding for IP However Not for Domain

  I have just started setting up a VPS. I installed Tomcat to deploy some test applications on. The problem I am having is the following. An 'A' record has been setup for my website's primary domain as vps.mydomain.com. This is resolving fine for SSH and TS3. When it comes to Tomcat, using vps.mydomain.com:8080 does not result in the default landing page. However, 111.222.333.444:8080 does load the default Tomcat page. I read through the manual and within the server.xml added an Alias; this however has not had any effect. Is there any trickery required in order to get Tomcat to serve my applications or is this likely to be some kind of filtering mechanism for requests placed upon me by my hosting provider?

  Possible Duplicate: How do you do Load Testing and Capacity Planning for Web Sites I’m working on a community platform writen in PHP, MySQL. I have some questions about the server usage maybe someone can help me out. The community is based on JQuery with many ajax requests to update content. It makes 5 - 10 AJAX(Json, GET, POST) requests every 5 seconds, the requests fetch user data like user notifications and messages by doing mySQL queries. I wonder how a server will handle this when there are for more than 5000 users online. Then it will be 50.000 requests every 5 seconds, what kind of server you need to handle this? Or maybe even more, when there are 15.000 users online, 150.000 requests every 5 seconds. My webserver have the following specs. Xeon Quad 2048MB 5000GB traffic Will it be good enough, and for how many users? Anyone can help me out or know where to find such information, like make a calculation?

  Does anyone know a kind of software that allows controlling of other computer, but the server can configure permission control? For example, the server can define five users, one of them can control, but the other four of them can only view. Also, file transfer support is required. I've tried TightVNC, it works fine with anything else, but it just does not support user permission control. RAdmin can serve this job, but I wish to find some software which is free. Thank you!

  My workplace uses an Ascom IP DECT base station (IPBS1), and Ascom handsets as well. We're looking to replace some broken handsets; the ones by Ascom, however, are rather expensive, and we're not altogether satisfied with their quality. I've been looking at handsets from other manufacturers, which are much less expensive - however, since I don't know anything about DECT, VOIP, etc, I don't know if they will work with the base. I've perused the base's manual, but found nothing on handset compatibility. How can I find out what kind of handset works with our base?

  Hi, a colleague at work asked this question: My local church want to get WiFi enabled in the whole of their offices and main church building. The offices and main building are in the same overall structure and so the signal does not need to travel outside to any other buildings outside this main structure. Where would I start on such a project and what kind of repeaters are needed (and how are they set up) given that some of the walls are pretty thick. Do you still have one ADSL line coming in to router or are there some options of having two lines coming in so that they isn't a single point of failure. Am looking at fibre for the broadband for increased speed. Any starting pointers appreciated.

• sudo rejects password that is correct

  sudo (Which I have configured to ask for a password) is rejecting my password (as if I mis-typed it) I am absolutely not typing it incorrectly. I have changed the password temporarily to alphabetic characters only, and it looks fine in plaintext, in the same terminal. I have my username configured thus: myusername ALL=(ALL) ALL I am using my password, NOT the root password, which are distinct. Just to be sure, I've tried both (even though I know the root password is not what I should use) - neither work. I have added myself to the group 'wheel' additionally, and included the following line: %wheel ALL=(ALL) ALL I'm kind of at the end of my rope here. I don't know what would cause it to act as though it was accepting my password, but then reject it. I have no trouble logging in with the same password, either at terminal shells, or through the X11 login manager.

For project 1 I need to open for ex : Filezilla, Gedit and Nautilus (set to a specific folder) For project 2 I need to open foz ex : Gimp, Nautilus (set to another specific folder) etc. What I would like is a kind of sessions manager, where I could create entries "project 1", "project 2", etc. And with one click or command, open all the softwares I need. Perhaps there's an easy way to write a batch file for this? Any idea is welcome :)

  I have a server with a LAN facing address of 192.168.5.100 (eth0) and another LAN facing address of 192.168.6.6 (eth1). On this server I have a Virtualbox instance of fedora running an apache webserver (on port 8080) with a bridged interface to eth1 on the host server with address of 192.168.6.7 Users on the 192.168.6.x network can access the Webserver on the Vbox instance (192.168.6.7) with no problems. My question is what kind of iptables entries or commands should be made/executed so as to allow for users on the 192.168.5.x network to access the webserver on the vbox instance. (I'm hoping their url can be something like: http://192.168.5.100:8080)

  I am building a server computer which will be used for SQL Server and I am planning to use like 32G+ of RAM and putting the databases in memory. (I know all about data loss issues when power is gone). I haven't been up to date with the new types of memory sticks out there. What kind of memory should I get which is faster than average and not very expensive? I am buying a lot of ram so I am looking for memory that's above average but below high end if high end is very expensive. (I will be using Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard or Windows HPC Server 2008 R2)

• How to retrieve connection details of CheckPoint SSL Network Extender?

  My workplace uses a Java-based VPN tool named CheckPoint SSL Network Extender. I would like to configure the VPN connection myself using stock OS tools, because I find the applet to be rather unstable. How would I go about getting all of the connection details needed to manually connect to the VPN? My workplace only supports the official client. When I am connected with the Java applet, if I run ipconfig /all I can see that a hidden network connection is created named Check Point Virtual Network Adapter For SSL Network Extender - Packet Scheduler Miniport. I can see the various IP and DNS details there as well. However, because I need to log in to the applet-based tool, I presume I need to export some kind of key in order to use OS tools to configure this. Is this even possible? Answers for any OS are great although I am using Windows XP to test, and also want to use Linux clients.

I've been told that shadow page tables are then used directly by the processor's paging hardware to allow memory access in the VM to execute without translation overhead. I would like to understand a bit more about how the shadow page table mechanism works in a VMM. Is my high level understanding above correct? What kind of data structures are used in the implementation of shadow page tables? What is the flow of control from the guest operating system all the way to the hardware? How are memory access translations made for a guest operating system before its shadow page table is populated? How is page sharing supported? Short of straight up reading the source code of an open source VMM, what resources can I look into to learn more about hardware virtualization?

• How to prefer ipv6 over ipv4 only for specific websites?

  I only have ipv6 connectivity via a HE tunnel on my router, so normally I want to prefer ipv4 over ipv6. For some websites however, I would like to prefer ipv6. Right now I have just set DisabledComponents to 0x20 and hard coded the ipv6 resolution into my hosts file for the sites i want to access over ipv6. Since these ip addresses change at times, this is not a good solution. Any ideas on how to handle this in a non-clunky way? Some kind of Chrome/Firefox add-on might do the trick, but I couldn't find one for this purpose.

• I suspect that my HDD is causing hardlocks, as all other components have been replaced. How can I check this theory and solve the potential cause?

  I have had this problem over quite a while now, thorough multiple Linux kernel versions and distributions, as well as replacement of all components, aside from my main HDD - RAM, GPU(twice), mother board, CPU, power supply. What happens is, at one point during the operation of the PC, it will hardlock - everything stops working, external HDD is not shut down correctly and continues to spin until I plug it out and in, there are no system/kernel logs of any kind, and no otherwise nothing that would suggest a cause. Another reason for my suspicion is that the failures happen almost exclusively during HDD read/write activity - shutdown(happens nearly 1/3 of the time so far, it's only been few days though), launching programs, and once during operation of apt. I hope the post is descriptive enough, if you need any additional info, ask(and tell me how to prepare/obtain it), and I will provide. If I'm wrong, point me in the right direction.   Well, the title is quite unambiguous. However, let me clarify it even more. Starting with Opera 11, there now are Opera extensions, which are compliant to W3C widget specification. This allows us to use it on whichever browser supports their (well, currently, only Opera does). Anyway, suppose I have two computers, each one using Opera. How could I possibly synchronize used extensions and their preferences ? With Opera Link ? I didn't saw any kind of extension sharing in it With Dropbox/any other file sharing application ? • Windows 8 will only recognize the Blu Ray ROM, if the install disk is present at boot time [migrated]

  If I have the install disk in the blu ray ROM drive at boot time and subsequently remove the disk and replace it with blu ray media everything functions as I'd expect. However, if I have no media present, or another disk in the drive at boot time, then windows 8 does not seem to recognize that the blu ray player is even present in the computer. It is not present in the 'my computer' screen, device manager does not show the player, and scanning for new hardware yields nothing. It seems that the driver is installed and working as expect, what is it about having the windows 8 install disk in the drive or not that would cause this kind of behavior?
