    Hi Guys, Im creating a little database that has employee, emp_shift, shift, tables now im suppose to be able to calculate at the end of the month which employee has done the most number of shifts. Ive created the SQL creation, insert statements for the tables, and a little diagram to explain what im trying to acomplish, im a beginner and this is a homework ive been trying to do for the last 4 days.     here is my SQL statement , i would like to find all the games that have the status 0 and names of teams that are like key_word or the sport's name that are like the key word. The problem is that all the games that are displayed don't have status 0 .   • Show child and parent together using CONNECT BY Sql statement

    I have an sql statement that currently is just returning all the end parent rows for a list of child rows: SELECT DISTINCT row FROM table heirarchy WHERE parent_row = NULL CONNECT BY nocycle PRIOR parent_row = row START WITH row IN (select statement returning child rows) Is there a way to show the child and its corresponding parent together in the same result set using a modified version of my sql?     hi, I am trying to install SQL server 2008 express on windows 7 64 bit machine using the following command: Setup.exe /qs /Action=Install /Features=SQL /InstanceName=XXX /SQLSYSADMINACCOUNTS="Builtin\Administrators" /SQLSVCACCOUNT="NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM" I can not access the database and get "access denied" error. I narrowed down the issue to the /SQLSYSADMINACCOUNTS="Builtin\Administrators" parameter not working. When I change this parameter value to currnet user or try manual install it works Any idea is appreciated.

    When I attempt to connect to SQL server using enterprise manager I get the strange message: "SQL Server is not known to be running. Are you sure you want to connect?" What is it trying to tell me? Is there some special caution required in trying to connect to a server that is not known to be running? If so, how do I find out if a server is running before trying to connect to it, and why doesn't enterprise manager provide this service?

  • Managing trace files on Sql Server 2005

    I need to manage the trace files for a database on Sql Server 2005 Express Edition. The C2 audit logging is turned on for the database, and the files that it's creating are eating up a lot of space. Can this be done from within Sql Server, or do I need to write a service to monitor these files and take the appropriate actions? I found the [master].[sys].[trace] table with the trace file properties. Does anyone know the meaning of the fields in this table?

    It seems that if there is a sql memory leak somewhere and you dont have time to find it you can use the load balance timeout option in a sql connection string to destory the connection after x seconds. Am i right in assuming I can set the load balance time out to 30-40 seconds and then hunt for the leak latter, while in the mean time the leak will not affect my application too much.
