  I have a case where i have three entities with one-to-many and one-to-many relationships: Entity A (Entity B relationhip), Entity B (Entity A relationship, Entity C relationship), Entity C (Entity B relationhip) I have the reference of Entity A, and now i want to fetch all the related Entity C records.   I am using silverlight / ASP .NET and C#. What if I want to do this from silverlight for instance, // I have left out the quotes to show you literally what the characters // are that I want to use string password = vtakyoj#"5 string encodedPassword = HttpUtility.UrlEncode(encryptedPassword, Encoding.UTF8); // encoded password now = vtakyoj%23%225 URI uri = new URI("http://www.url.com/page.aspx@password=vtakyoj%23%225"); HttpPage.Window.Navigate(uri); If I debug and look at the value of uri it shows up as this (we are still inside the silverlight app), http://www.url.com?password=vtakyoj%23"5 So the %22 has become a quote for some reason. If I then debug inside the page.aspx code (which of course is ASP .NET) the value of Request["pasword"] is actually this, vtakyoj#"5 Which is the original value. How does that work? I would have thought that I would have to go, HttpUtility.UrlDecode(Request["pswd"], Encoding.UTF8) To get the original value. Hope this makes sense? Thanks.

• My linux server takes more than an hour to boot. Suggestions?

  I am building a CentOS 5.4 system that boots off a compact flash card using a card reader that emulates an IDE drive. It literally takes about an hour to boot. The ultra-slow part occurs when Grub is loading the kernel. Once that's done, the rest of the boot process only takes about a minute to get to a login prompt. Does anyone have any suggestions? I suspect that it may have to do with UDMA. Everything IDE-related in my BIOS seems to checkout. The read performance hdparm is telling me 1.77 MB/s. Ouch! Pull new changes from upstream master: $ git pull (master updated with ff-commits) master A---B---C---D---E---F \ newfeature-123 M---N---O 3. Rebase off master so that my new feature can be developed against the latest upstream changes: (from newfeature-123) $ git rebase master master A---B---C---D---E---F \ newfeature-123 M---N---O I want to know how to do the same thing in Mercurial, and I've scoured the web for an answer, but the best I could find was this: http://www.selenic.com/pipermail/mercurial/2007-June/013393.html That link provides 2 examples: 1. I'll admit that this: (replacing the revisions from the example with those from my own example) hg up -C F hg branch -f newfeature-123 hg transplant -a -b newfeature-123 is not too bad, except that it leaves behind the pre-rebase M-N-O as an unmerged head and creates 3 new commits M',N',O' that represent them branching off the updated mainline. Basically the problem is that I end up with this: master A---B---C---D---E---F \ \ newfeature-123 \ M'---N'---O' \ newfeature-123 M---N---O this is not good because it leaves behind local, unwanted commits that should be dropped. The other option from the same link is hg qimport -r M:O hg qpop -a hg up F hg branch newfeature-123 hg qpush -a hg qdel -r qbase:qtip and this does result in the desired graph: master A---B---C---D---E---F \ newfeature-123 M---N---O but these commands (all 6 of them!) seem so much more complicated than $ git rebase master I want to know if this is the only equivalent in Hg or if there is some other way available that is simple like Git. • Comparing values from a string in a MySQL query

  I'm having some trouble comparing values found in VARCHAR fields. I have a table with products and each product has volume. I store the volume in a VARCHAR field and it's usually a number (30, 40, 200..) but there are products that have multiple volumes and their data is stored separated by semicolons, like so 30;60;80. I know that storing multiple volumes like that is not recommended but I have to work with it like it is. I'm trying to implement a search by volume function for the products. I want to also display the products that have a bigger or equal volume than the one searched. This is not a problem with the products that have a single volume, but it is a problem with the multiple volume products. Maybe an example will make things clearer: Let's say I have a product with this in it's volume field: 30;40;70;80. If someone searched for a volume, lets say 50, I want that product to be displayed. To do this I was thinking of writing my own custom MySQL function (I've never this before) but maybe someone can offer a different solution. I apologize for my poor English but I hope I made my question clear. Thanks.

  Hi, I'm working with App Engine(Java/JDO) and are trying to do some querying with lists. So I have the following class: @PersistenceCapable(identityType = IdentityType.APPLICATION, detachable="true") public class MyEntity { @PrimaryKey @Persistent(valueStrategy = IdGeneratorStrategy.IDENTITY) Key key; @Persistent List<String> tags = new ArrayList<String>(); @Persistent String otherVar; } The following JDO-QL works for me: ( tags.contains('a') || tags.contains('b') || tags.contains('c') || tags.contains('d') ) && otherVar > 'a' && otherVar < 'z' This seem to return all results where tags has one or more strings with one or more of the given values and together with the inequality search on otherVar But the following do not work: (tags.contains('a') || tags.contains('_a')) && (tags.contains('b') || tags.contains('_b')) && otherVar > 'a' && otherVar < 'z' In this case I want all hits where there is at least one a (either a or _a) and one b (either b or _b) together with the inequality search as before. But the problem is that I also get back the results where there is a but no b, which is not what I want. Maybe I have missed something obvious, or done a coding error, or possibly there is a restriction on how you can write these queries in appengine, so any tips or help would be very welcome.   I'm trying to automate a tedious problem. I get large Excel (.xls or .csv, whatever's more convenient) files with lists of people. I want to compare these against my MySQL database.* At the moment I'm exporting MySQL tables and reading them from an Excel spreadsheet. At that point it's not difficult to use =LOOKUP() and such commands to do the work I need, and of course the various text processing I need to do is easy enough to do in Excel. But I can't help but think that this is more work than it needs to be. Is there some way to get at the MySQL data directly from Excel? Alternately, is there a way I could access a reasonably large (~10k records) csv file in a sql script? This seems to be rather basic, but I haven't managed to make it work so far. I found an ODBC connection for MySQL but that doesn't seem to do what I need. In particular, I'm testing whether the name matches or whether any of four email addresses match. I also return information on what matched for the benefit of the next person to use the data, something like "Name 'Bob Smith' not found, but 'Robert Smith' matches on email address robert.smith@foo".

I called them SuperParent, NamedParent, TypedParent and ParentType. NamedParent and TypedParent derives from superParent. TypedParent has one to many association with ParentType. I describe mapping for entities using queryView. The problem is then I want to get TypedParents and Include ParentType I get the following exception: An error occurred while preparing the command definition. How would I get a list of States with the number of distinct SSN's in each state?   I have an application using Acegi (earlier version of Spring Security) and LDAP for logins. Now, a specific scenario requires me to discover user's LDAP groups at arbitrary time (not at login time). Is it possible to use already set up Acegi to handle this situation? I'm thinking of using the configured LdapAuthProvider (or LdapAuthPopulator or whatever's appropriate) to get all the groups associated with a given username. Is this possible? If yes, please, please, give some hints how it should be done...
