  • WinForms Form won't close on pressing X or Close() in C#

    I'm having a bit weird problem with WinForm which seems to refuse to close for some weird reason. I've got very simple gui which sometimes doesn't react for me pressing X or when i use events on buttons it even reaches Close() and does nothing.. private void buttonZapisz_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { string plik = textBoxDokumentDoZaladowania.Text; if (File.Exists(plik)) { string extension = Path.GetExtension(plik); string nazwaPliku = Path.GetFileName(plik); SqlMethods.databaseFilePut(plik, comboBoxTypDokumentu.Text, textBoxKomentarz.Text, sKlienciID, sPortfelID, extension, nazwaPliku); Close(); } } There are no events assigned to FormClosed or FormClosing. So how can I find out what's wrong. Sometimes X will work after the GUI is loaded but after i press Button to save some stuff to database it reaches Close() in that button event and it still is visible and does nothing. Can't use X, nor ALT+F4. I can go around GUI and choose other values for ComboBox without problem. I can open up same GUI and after opening new GUI i can quickly close it. GUI is very simple with few ComboBoxes,TextBoxes and one EditButton from Devexpress.   • Unable to load DLL 'foo.dll', but only when running through vhost

    This is a variation on the old System.DllNotFoundException: Unable to load DLL 'foo.dll': The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E). problem (where, of course, foo.dll is the name of an actual DLL). The strange part is that I only get this error when I "Run" in VS (2008 if that's relevant). That sits in the MyApp.vhost.exe processes. If I run the actual app in a command line (MyApp.exe) I encounter no errors. The problem extends to unit tests with MSTest. A check on the DLL with DependencyWalker on Foo.dll doesn't show any issues. Any ideas?

    I AM GETTING THE FOLLOWING ERROR IN A VERY SIMPLE CLASS LIBRARY: Error 1 Unable to copy file "obj\Debug\SMIT.SysAdmin.BusinessLayer.Resources.resources" to "obj\Debug\SMIT.SysAdmin.BusinessLayer.SMIT.SysAdmin.BusinessLayer.Resources.resources". Could not find file 'obj\Debug\SMIT.SysAdmin.BusinessLayer.Resources.resources'. SMIT.SysAdmin.BusinessLayer Going to the Project Properties-Resource tab, I see that I defined do resources. Still, I tried to delete the resource file and recreate by going to the resource tab. When I recompile, I still get the same error. Any suggestions of things to try?

I've use a jQuery mouse position plug in to check the coords and they seem ok. Can anyone help please? Thanks

    I have a few applications running under one app domain using port 80. I'm using port 80 to test and develop web application code. I want to take those same applications and publish them in a different app domain under a different port, 8001. This way, clients can view my applications that's using port 8001 while I develop and compile my project on port 80. However, when I debug my application, it freezes both the web applications on both port 80 and 8001. How can I debug my application under port 80 without affecting the web applications under port 8001?

  • Unable to host WCF service correctly in IIS7

    I have a WCF Service library written in .NET 4.0. I have a WCF application (in order to host this service in IIS) within the same solution. It contains the WCF library assembly reference and a service.svc file pointing to the service from the library along with a web.config that is a replica of the WCF service library's app.config. The WCF application is set to host the service in IIS7 (the virtual directory has been set). The same solution contains an ASP.NET Webforms solution to which I have added a service reference pointing to the WCF service I hosted in IIS (as mentioned). When i start an instance of this ASP.NET Web application, I get a message saying that "The WCF service has been hosted" and the ASP.NET application can access the data from it correctly. However, when i try and access this data via a service reference added to an MVC 2 Web Application on the same machine in a different solution (pointing to the service hosted in IIS), I get a "The remote server returned an error: (405) Method Not Allowed." protocol exception . However, the MVC application is able to access the service data if I manually invoke an instance of the WCF Application that I was using to host the WCF Service Library from the other solution. I am using VS2010 Beta 2 as my development IDE. I have been stuck with this issue for a while now. Any help would be appreciated.   • Trying to compile VS2008 project on Win 64 bit which is custom Powershell PSSnapin

    Library Project compiles fine for ANY CPU in VS2008 running on Win 7 64 -bit. Now in the post build following command fails when attemptiong to register library dll: PS C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727 .\installutil C:\path\Project.dll Exception occurred while initializing the installation: System.BadImageFormatException: Could not load file or assembly 'file:///C:\path\Project.dll' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.. Do I need to compile the project as x64 I was under impression that AnyCPU will take care of it. Alo my library does have dependencies. Do they also need to be compiled as x64 bit? Any help is appreciated.

  • Formula parsing / evaluation routine or library with generic DLookup functionality

    I am writing a .Net application where I must support user-defined formulas that can perform basic mathematics, as well as accessing data from any arbitrary table in the database. I have the math part working, using JScript Eval(). What I haven't decided on is what a nice way is to do the generic table lookups. For example, I may have a formula something like: Column: BonusAmount Formula: {CurrentSalary} * 1.5 * {[SystemSettings][Value][SettingName=CorpBonus AND Year={Year}]} So, in this example I would replace {xxx} and {Year} with the value of Column xxx from the current table, and I would replace the second part with the value of (select Value from SystemSettings WHERE SettingName='CorpBonus' AND Year=2008) So, basically, I am looking for something very much like the MS Access DLookup function: DLookup ( expression, domain, [criteria] ) DLookup("[UnitPrice]", "Order Details", "OrderID = 10248") But, I also need to overall parsing routine that can tell whether to just look up in the current row, or to look into another table. Would also be nice to support aggregate functions (ie: DAvg, DMax, etc), as well as all the weird edge cases handled. So I wonder if anyone knows of any sort of an existing library, or has a nice routine that can handle this formula parsing and database lookup / aggregate function resolution requirements.

  • How to set WCF threads to schedual differently

    Hi, I'm running a winservice that has 2 main objectives. Execute/Handle exposed webmethods. Run Inner processes that consume allot of CPU. The problem is that when I execute many inner processes |(as tasks) that are queued to the threadpool or taskpool, the execution of the webmethods takes much more time as WCF also queues its executions to the same threadpool. This even happens when setting the inner processes task priority to lowest and setting the webmethods thread priority to heights. I hoped that Framework 4.0 would improve this, and they have, but still it takes quite allot of time for the system to handle the WCF queued tasks if the CPU is handling other inner tasks. Is it possible to change the Threadpool that WCF uses to a different one? Is it possible to manually change the task queue (global task queue, local task queue). Is it possible to manually handle 2 task queues that behave differently ? Any help in the subject would be appropriated. Gilad.

  • Creating a future proof .NET 3.5 SP1 installer prerequisite for setup.exe AND the .MSI

    I've demanded .NET 3.5 SP1 a la http://stackoverflow.com/questions/88136/will-a-vs2008-setup-project-update-net-3-5-sp1. This makes the setup.exe check correctly. I've also added a "SP1" launch condition to my MSI so it doesn't let the user install my .NET 3.5SP1 app via launching the MSI (and replaced the [VSDNETMSG] in the Framework condition message with one that actually mentions SP1). From a future proofing point of view, this feels wrong. I want the condition to be: (NETVer=3.5 AND Net35SPLevel=1) OR (NETVer=>3.5) not (NETVer=3.5 AND Net35SPLevel=1) Is there any way to do that? The framework check doesnt have a condition property to allow me to add a sub-condition... Yes, I could also just not worry my pretty little head about it :P If one of the MS versioning experts out there reads this, if you're going to put stuff that code depends on into SPs, can you please make the installer be able to check for it OOTB. (I really wish they had come up with a better numbering scheme - the world and its dog could see that this was going to get confusing)

    I can build a simple dll consisting of a source file, a header file and a definition but now I am progressing beyond a simple toy dll and working towards something more complex. The DLL I am trying to compile has 2 source files, 2 headers and the dreaded stdafx pair. To compile normally you would use /Yc to compile the pch and /Yu to use it. How do you specify that with in the constraints of mojo-native's compiler options?

    Hi, I have a solution with multiple projects. I have a "main" project, which acts as a menu and from there, the user can access any of the other projects. On this main project, I get linker errors for every function called. How do I avoid these linker errors? I set the project dependencies already in the "Project Dependencies..." dialog.     I'm used to use web deployment projects. Currently I am developing a new web application with VS2010 and want to try to get along with the new web.config principle and deployment issues. How can I replace a simple setting like <applicationSettings> <NAMESPACE> <setting name="Testenvironment" serializeAs="String"> <value>True</value> </setting> </NAMESPACE> </applicationSettings> I want to have this setting to be set to True in Debug, and false in Release. How must the entries in the Web.Debug.config and Web.Release.Config look like? And by the way: Is there some documentation about the new web.config issue? Can't seem to google for the correct keywords.

  • Why would javascript click-areas not be working in IE8?

    I'm trying to find a bug in an old ASP.NET application which causes IE8 to not be able to click on the following "button" area in our application: <td width="150px" class="ctl00_CP1_UiCommandManager1i toolBarItem" valign="middle" onmouseout="onMouseOverCommand(this,1,'ctl00_CP1_UiCommandManager1',0,0);" onmouseover="onMouseOverCommand(this,0,'ctl00_CP1_UiCommandManager1',0,0);" onmousedown="onMouseDownCommand(this, 'ctl00_CP1_UiCommandManager1', 0, 0);" onmouseup="onMouseUpCommand(this, 'ctl00_CP1_UiCommandManager1', 0, 0);" id="ctl00_CP1_UiCommandManager1_0_0"> <span style="width:100%;overflow:hidden;text-overflow:ellipsis;vertical-align:middle;white-space:nowrap;"> NEW </span> </td> When we switch IE8 to IE7 compatibility mode, the problem disappears, IE7 is able to click on it. Since the above HTML is generated by a third party control (Janus, http://www.janusys.com/controls), we don't have the source code. has anyone experienced any similar problems with IE8? I've determined that it actually fires the onMouseDownCommand command also the CSS of the button area is different in IE8, it doesn't have color shading that it does in IE7. I can imagine that somewhere the HTML is not valid and IE8 being stricter is not playing along, but where? any advice on how to narrow in on this bug welcome ANSWER: Turned out to be that the application was not checking the navigator.agent for "MSIE 8.0" and was thus treating IE8 has a non-Internet-Explorer browser. Thanks Lazarus for the tip, the IE8 Javascript debugger is very nice, like a Firebug for IE, will be using it more!

    I have a non-nullable database column which has a default value set. When inserting a row, sometimes a value is specified for the column, sometimes one is not. This works fine in TSQL when the column is omitted. The problem I have is when using LINQ-to-SQL (L2S) with a table like this. I want to produce the same behavior, but I can't figure out how to make L2S do that. I want to be able to run the following code and have the first row get the value I specify and the second row get the default value from the database: var context = new DataClasses1DataContext(); var row1 = new Table1 { col1 = "test value", col2 = "" }; context.Table1s.InsertOnSubmit(row1); context.SubmitChanges(); var row2 = new Table1 { col2 = "" }; context.Table1s.InsertOnSubmit(row2); context.SubmitChanges(); If the Auto Generated Value property of col1 is False, the first row is created as desired, but the second row fails with a null error on col1. If Auto Generated Value is True, both rows are created with the default value from the database. I've tried various combinations of Auto Generated Value, Auto-Sync and Nullable, but nothing I've tried gives the behavior I want. L2S does not omit the column from the insert statement when no value is specified. Instead it does something like this: INSERT INTO Table1 (col1, col2) VALUES (null, '') ...which of course causes a null error on col1. Is there some way to get L2S to omit a column from the insert statement if no value is given? Or is there some other way to get the behavior I want? I need the default value at the database level because not all row inserts are done via L2S, and in some cases the default value is a little more complex than a hard coded value (e.g. creating the default based on another field) so I'd rather avoid duplicating that logic.
