  • Passenger throwing undefined method `-@' for "master":String after Puppet 3.0.0 upgrade

    - by Andy Shinn
My Puppet master is using Passenger to serve. After upgrading to Puppet 3.0.0 I am getting the following error: [ pid=17576 thr=70231398486460 file=utils.rb:176 time=2012-10-01 17:37:12.892 ]: *** Exception NoMethodError in PhusionPassenger::Rack::ApplicationSpawner (undefined method `-@' for "master":String) (process 17576, thread #): from config.ru:7 from /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/rack-1.4.1/lib/rack/builder.rb:51:in `instance_eval' from /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/rack-1.4.1/lib/rack/builder.rb:51:in `initialize' from config.ru:1:in `new' from config.ru:1 My config.ru is as follows: # a config.ru, for use with every rack-compatible webserver. # SSL needs to be handled outside this, though. # if puppet is not in your RUBYLIB: # $LOAD_PATH.unshift('/opt/puppet/lib') $0 = "master" # if you want debugging: # ARGV << "--debug" ARGV << "--rack" # Rack applications typically don't start as root. Set --confdir to prevent # reading configuration from ~/.puppet/puppet.conf ARGV << "--confdir" << "/etc/puppet" # NOTE: it's unfortunate that we have to use the "CommandLine" class # here to launch the app, but it contains some initialization logic # (such as triggering the parsing of the config file) that is very # important. We should do something less nasty here when we've # gotten our API and settings initialization logic cleaned up. # # Also note that the "$0 = master" line up near the top here is # the magic that allows the CommandLine class to know that it's # supposed to be running master. # # --cprice 2012-05-22 require 'puppet/util/command_line' # we're usually running inside a Rack::Builder.new {} block, # therefore we need to call run *here*. run Puppet::Util::CommandLine.new.execute Any idea what may be happening?

  • Can't get simple Apache VHost up and running

    - by TK Kocheran
Unfortunately, I can't seem to get a simple Apache VHost online. I used to simply have one VHost which bound to all: <VirtualHost *:80>, but this isn't appropriate for security anymore. I need to have one VHost for localhost requests (ie my dev server) and one for incoming requests via my domain name. Here's my new VHost: NameVirtualHost domain1.com <VirtualHost domain1.com:80> DocumentRoot /var/www ServerName domain1.com </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost domain2.com:80> DocumentRoot /var/www ServerName domain2.com </VirtualHost> After I restart my server, I see the following errors in my log: [Wed Feb 16 11:26:36 2011] [error] [client ####.###.###.###] File does not exist: /htdocs [Wed Feb 16 11:26:36 2011] [error] [client ####.###.###.###] File does not exist: /htdocs What am I doing wrong? EDIT As per the answer give below, I have modified my configuration. Here are my configuration files: /etc/apache2/ports.conf: Listen 80 <IfModule mod_ssl.c> # If you add NameVirtualHost *:443 here, you will also have to change # the VirtualHost statement in /etc/apache2/sites-available/default-ssl # to <VirtualHost *:443> # Server Name Indication for SSL named virtual hosts is currently not # supported by MSIE on Windows XP. Listen 443 </IfModule> <IfModule mod_gnutls.c> Listen 443 </IfModule> Here are my actual defined sites: /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/000-localhost: NameVirtualHost 127.0.0.1:80 <VirtualHost 127.0.0.1:80> ServerAdmin ######### DocumentRoot /var/www <Directory /> Options FollowSymLinks AllowOverride None </Directory> <Directory /var/www/> Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews AllowOverride None Order allow, deny allow from all </Directory> ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ /usr/lib/cgi-bin/ <Directory "/usr/lib/cgi-bin"> AllowOverride None Options +ExecCGI -MultiViews +SymLinksIfOwnerMatch Order allow, deny Allow from all </Directory> ErrorLog /var/log/apache2/error.log # Possible values include: debug, info, notice, warn, error, crit, # alert, emerg. They're here only as hints or reminders. If you are unsure # consult the online docs. You have been warned. # # The configuration directives are grouped into three basic sections: # 1. Directives that control the operation of the Apache server process as a # whole (the 'global environment'). # 2. Directives that define the parameters of the 'main' or 'default' server, # which responds to requests that aren't handled by a virtual host. # These directives also provide default values for the settings # of all virtual hosts. # 3. Settings for virtual hosts, which allow Web requests to be sent to # different IP addresses or hostnames and have them handled by the # same Apache server process. # # Configuration and logfile names: If the filenames you specify for many # of the server's control files begin with "/" (or "drive:/" for Win32), the # server will use that explicit path. If the filenames do *not* begin # with "/", the value of ServerRoot is prepended -- so "/var/log/apache2/foo.log" # with ServerRoot set to "" will be interpreted by the # server as "//var/log/apache2/foo.log". # ### Section 1: Global Environment # # The directives in this section affect the overall operation of Apache, # such as the number of concurrent requests it can handle or where it # can find its configuration files. # # # ServerRoot: The top of the directory tree under which the server's # configuration, error, and log files are kept. # # NOTE! If you intend to place this on an NFS (or otherwise network) # mounted filesystem then please read the LockFile documentation (available # at <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.1/mod/mpm_common.html#lockfile>); # you will save yourself a lot of trouble. # # Do NOT add a slash at the end of the directory path. # ServerRoot "/etc/apache2" # # The accept serialization lock file MUST BE STORED ON A LOCAL DISK. # #<IfModule !mpm_winnt.c> #<IfModule !mpm_netware.c> LockFile /var/lock/apache2/accept.lock #</IfModule> #</IfModule> # # PidFile: The file in which the server should record its process # identification number when it starts. # This needs to be set in /etc/apache2/envvars # PidFile ${APACHE_PID_FILE} # # Timeout: The number of seconds before receives and sends time out. # Timeout 300 # # KeepAlive: Whether or not to allow persistent connections (more than # one request per connection). • Rundeck get verbose output of command executing on node

    - by Leon Stafford
I have Rundeck executing a remote script, which is in python is using print statements to return output normally such as: $ python mytest.py PASS: Condition 1 passed PASS: Condition 2 passed PASS: and so on... When I run this via Rundeck, however, it doesn't show me the same print generated outputs as above. In Rundeck's most detailed Debug output mode, I only receive the following: 06:31:12 Permanently added 'myremotenode.com' (RSA) to the list of known hosts. 06:31:12 SSH_MSG_NEWKEYS sent 06:31:12 SSH_MSG_NEWKEYS received 06:31:12 SSH_MSG_SERVICE_REQUEST sent 06:31:13 SSH_MSG_SERVICE_ACCEPT received 06:31:13 Authentications that can continue: publickey,password,keyboard-interactive 06:31:13 Next authentication method: publickey 06:31:13 Authentication succeeded (publickey). 06:31:13 /cygdrive/c/Program Files (x86)/Mozil... 06:32:06 Adding reference: ant.PropertyHelper 06:32:06 Setting project property: sshexec.output -> /cygdrive/c/Prog... I know that the remote script is actually executing just as usual, as I'm receiving other emails generated by the ~30min long script. Obviously, I don't want to have to wait 30mins to see the result of each print statement within the python script. How can I get the same level of output in Rundeck as I do in the bash shell directly?

  • MDT 2010 Litetouch.vbs Fails to Launch

    - by Mitch
I have the custom image captured. Import the image and files. Prepare the customsettings.ini and the boot.ini to minimize the questions the deployment team will need to answer. Everything works like a charm on virtual machines but when I map to the scripts folder on the deployment share and double-click litetouch.vbs it creates the c:\minint folder, subfolders, and a couple of log files then nothing. Here's what the log files look like: <![LOG[Property LogPath is now = C:\MININT\SMSOSD\OSDLOGS]LOG]!><time="15:54:28.000+000" date="03-08-2011" component="LiteTouch" context="" type="1" thread="" file="LiteTouch"> <![LOG[Property CleanStart is now = ]LOG]!><time="15:54:28.000+000" date="03-08-2011" component="LiteTouch" context="" type="1" thread="" file="LiteTouch"> <![LOG[Microsoft Deployment Toolkit version: 5.1.1642.01]LOG]!><time="15:54:28.000+000" date="03-08-2011" component="LiteTouch" context="" type="1" thread="" file="LiteTouch"> <![LOG[Property Debug is now = FALSE]LOG]!><time="15:54:28.000+000" date="03-08-2011" component="LiteTouch" context="" type="1" thread="" file="LiteTouch"> <![LOG[GetAllFixedDrives(False)]LOG]!><time="15:54:28.000+000" date="03-08-2011" component="LiteTouch" context="" type="1" thread="" file="LiteTouch"> Anyone encounter this before or know what might be happening/not happening and can direct me in the right way? I've only found a couple of other references to this anywhere and they had no solution/cause listed either. I'm stumped.

  • Apache httpd LDAP integration

    - by David W.
I am configuring a CollabNet Subversion integration. I have the following collabnet_subversion.conf file: <Location /svn> DAV svn SVNParentPath /mnt/svn/new_repos SVNListParentPath on AuthName "VegiBanc Source Repository" AuthType basic AuthzLDAPAuthoritative off AuthBasicProvider ldap AuthLDAPURL ldap://ldap.vegibanc.com/dc=vegibanc,dc=com?sAMAccountName" NONE AuthLDAPBindDN "CN=SVN-Admin,OU=Service Accounts,OU=VegiBanc Users,OU=vegibanc,DC=vegibanc,DC=com" AuthLDAPBindPassword "swordfish" </Location> This works great. Any user in our Active Directory can access our Subversion repository. Now, I want to limit this to only people in the Active Directory group Development: <Location /svn> DAV svn SVNParentPath /mnt/svn/new_repos SVNListParentPath on AuthName "VegiBanc Source Repository" AuthType basic AuthzLDAPAuthoritative off AuthBasicProvider ldap AuthLDAPURL ldap://ldap.vegibanc.com/dc=vegibanc,dc=com?sAMAccountName" NONE AuthLDAPBindDN "CN=SVN-Admin,OU=Service Accounts,OU=VegiBanc Users,OU=VegiBanc,DC=vegibanc,DC=com" AuthLDAPBindPassword "swordfish" Require ldap-group CN=Development OU=Security Groups OU=VegiBanc, dc=vegibanc, dc=com </Location> I added Require ldap-group, but now no one can log in. I have LogLevel set to debug, but all I get is this in my error_log (Single line broken up for easier reading): [Thu Oct 11 13:09:28 2012] [info] [client 10.55.9.45] [6752] vauth_ldap authenticate: user dweintraub authentication failed; URI /svn/ [ldap_search_ext_s() for user failed][Bad search filter] And, I get this in my access_log: 10.55.9.45 - - [11/Oct/2012:13:09:27 -0500] "GET /svn/ HTTP/1.1" 401 401 10.55.9.45 - dweintraub [11/Oct/2012:13:09:28 -0500] "GET /svn/ HTTP/1.1" 500 535 Yes, I am in that group. (Or, at least how can I confirm that just to make sure that's not the issue. I have the SysinternalsSuite ADExplorer. It's where I'm getting all of my info.)

  • vhost configuration for owncloud

I'm using apache2 for hosting owncloud. I configured a vhost file for owncloud, but every time I go on the site my browser downloads a ruby file. • How do I find information about a particular trojan? "W32/Smalltroj.XVGT", as reported by Norman

    - by Lasse V. Karlsen
I tried checking the Norman antivirus page, Virus-descriptions, but sadly it seems Norman has intentionally obfuscated their search results (I tried clicking on W, and it seems they just list viruses with a W somewhere in the description, instead of more typical, all viruses with a name starting with a W.) Is there a common virus-list somewhere, or is it as I suspect, every antivirus manufacturer is free to come up with their own identification tags for each virus? Several "vshost32.exe" files, related to Microsoft Visual Studio 2008, has been quarantined on our server today, probably related to a test-deployment of some internal software. Some developer machines that have grabbed that latest version of our program has also had the same files quarantined. Now, these files should not have been deployed in the first case, so I'll be looking into that, but whenever any developer now builds a program locally and attempts to debug, the same file is placed in the build output directory, and promptly quarantined. Does anyone have any clues as to how I can go about verifying this before I pointedly ask the antivirus software to go take a hike on this particular virus? Edit: I've copied one of the quarantined files manually to a machine over the network that doesn't have antivirus installed, and compared the file on that machine with a local copy (on that machine) of the vshost32.exe template file, and they're bit-for-bit identical. I guess this is a false positive. I still would like to know if it would be possible for me to verify this in any other way though, since next time such a trojan might be reported in a compiled file that we won't have a pristine copy of.

  • How can I parse/ transform text log data before it gets captured in SCOM 2007 R2?

    - by Abs
I'm pretty much a noob with System Center Operations Manager 2007, and I'm probably missing something pretty basic, but I'm stumped anyway. We're setting up monitoring on some of our servers, and we'd like to capture data from some plain text log files (e.g. DNS debug logs, DHCP logs). It looks to me like I can set up a generic text file monitoring rule and get events captured into the main Ops Manager database, but my understanding is that the whole line of text from the plain text log gets captured as one field. In an ideal world, we'd be able to parse or transform that log file data to make it easier to query later. Is this possible? Is it easy? Do I have to buy expensive 3rd-party software to do it? One more thing: it would be even better if there was a way to stuff this data into the Audit Collection Services (ACS) database instead of the main one, but I'll take what I can get. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Varnish configuration, NamevirtualHosts, and IP Forwarding

    - by Brent
I currently have a bunch of NameVirtualHost based websites, load balanced between 3 apache2 servers using ldirectord. I would like to insert varnish as a reverse-web-proxy between ldirectord and apache in the following way: a request comes in to ldirectord it is then load balanced between the 3 apache2 servers and varnish, with a weight of 1 for the webservers, and 99 for varnish (so if varnish is rebooted, the webservers will take over seamlessly) varnish will then load balance its requests between my apache2 servers. However, the varnish part is not working. I wonder whether this has to do with the fact that my apache servers use x.x.x.x:80 for their NameVirtualHosts, instead of *:80? (they have to do this, since each server hosts multiple IP addresses) Or perhaps it has to do with the need for IP Forwarding to be set up on the varnish server? (I did echo 1 /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward on this server, is that sufficient?) How can I debug this problem? ldirectord doesn't produce logs of what it does with each request (and if it did, I would be overwhelmed with information since I'm serving hundreds of requests per second) varnish log shows the ldirectord server connecting to it every 5 seconds, but nothing else. I have set up a test site using this configuration, but it fails - no apache access logs, no applicable varnish logs.

  • reverse proxy not rewriting to https

    - by polishpt
I need your help. I'm having problems with reverse proxy rewriting to https: I have an alfresco app running on top of tomcat and as a front and an Apache server - it's site-enabled looks like that: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName alfresco JkMount /* ajp13_worker <Directory /var/www/> Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews AllowOverride None Order allow, deny allow from all </Directory> ErrorLog /var/log/apache2/error.log # Possible values include: debug, info, notice, warn, error, crit, # alert, emerg. LogLevel warn CustomLog /var/log/apache2/access.log combined ServerSignature Off </VirtualHost> I also have a reverse proxy server running on second machine and i want it to rewrite queries to https. It's site-enabled looks like that: <VirtualHost 192.168.251.50:80> ServerName alfresco DocumentRoot /var/www/ RewriteEngine on RewriteRule (.*) https://alfresco/ [R] LogLevel warn ErrorLog /var/log/apache2/alfresco-80-error.log CustomLog /var/log/apache2/alfresco-80-access.log combined ServerSignature Off </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost 192.168.251.50:443> ServerName alfresco DocumentRoot /var/www/ SSLEngine On SSLProxyEngine On SSLCertificateFile /etc/ssl/certs/alfresco.pem SSLCertificateKeyFile /etc/ssl/private/alfresco.key SetEnvIf User-Agent ".*MSIE.*" nokeepalive ssl-unclean-shutdown \ downgrade-1.0 force-response-1.0 ProxyRequests Off ProxyPreserveHost On <Proxy *> Order deny, allow Allow from all </Proxy> ProxyPass /alfresco http://192.168.251.50:8080/alfresco ProxyPassReverse /alfresco http://192.168.251.50:8080/alfresco LogLevel warn ErrorLog /var/log/apache2/alfresco-443-error.log CustomLog /var/log/apache2/alfresco-443-access.log combined ServerSignature Off </VirtualHost> Now, ProxyPass works, when I go to alfresco/alfrsco in a browser application opens, but rewriting to https doesn't work. • VNC server failed to start CentOS

    - by Shaun
I followed a tutorial on how to install and get VNCserver to run on CentOS 6 (since freenx isnt supported yet) and I keep getting Starting VNC server: 1:user [FAILED] How do I figure out whats going on here? Im new to Linux/CentOS and im trying to get RDP going so I can step away from SSH as much as possible (you know us Windows users love our pretty GUI's). • Cisco router not receiving OSPF updates

    - by WebDevHobo
Or at least, that's what I think is happening. There doesn't appear to be a debug command for this, or to see if something is in the routing table. I'm testing out this setup in Packet Tracer. I have 3 routers and a webserver From left to right, you have: Webserver - Router1 - Router2 - Router3 Router1 and Router2 can succesfully ping WebServer. Router3 cannot. Router2 has a default gateway set, to send all not-recognized data through its serial interface to Router1. Like this: ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 Serial 0/0/1 Serial 0/0/1 being the connection to Router1 Router2 and Router3 have OSPF configured. From their "show run": Router2: router ospf 1 log-adjacency-changes passive-interface Serial0/0/1 network 10.1.1.0 0.0.0.3 area 0 default-information originate ! Router3: router ospf 1 log-adjacency-changes network 10.1.1.0 0.0.0.3 area 0 passive-interface FastEthernet0/0 ! I was under the assumption that setting default-information originate on Router2 would give Router3 the needed information. What's going wrong here? The interfaces are up. Ip addresses are with mask-range, clock rate is set at correct end. I don't know what else to check.

I keep adding more vhosts and enabling them but all the sites always do to the default vhost in sites-available here is what the default kind of looks like with me only changing the ip for security reasons <VirtualHost 167.889.88.88:80> ServerAdmin webmaster@localhost DocumentRoot /var/www <Directory /> Options FollowSymLinks AllowOverride None </Directory> <Directory /var/www/> Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews AllowOverride None Order allow, deny allow from all </Directory> ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ /usr/lib/cgi-bin/ <Directory "/usr/lib/cgi-bin"> AllowOverride None Options +ExecCGI -MultiViews +SymLinksIfOwnerMatch Order allow, deny Allow from all </Directory> ErrorLog /var/log/apache2/error.log # Possible values include: debug, info, notice, warn, error, crit, # alert, emerg. LogLevel warn CustomLog /var/log/apache2/access.log combined Alias /doc/ "/usr/share/doc/" <Directory "/usr/share/doc/"> Options Indexes MultiViews FollowSymLinks AllowOverride None Order deny, allow Deny from all Allow from 127.0.0.0/255.0.0.0 ::1/128 </Directory> </VirtualHost> and here is my other which i named some-site.net <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName some-site.net DocumentRoot "/var/www/vhosts/somesite.com/http/" <Directory "/var/www/vhosts/somesite.com/http/"> AllowOverride all Options -MultiViews </Directory> </VirtualHost> and it turned on my this command sudo a2ensite some-site.net Enabling site some-site.net. Run '/etc/init.d/apache2 reload' to activate new configuration! then i reloaded /etc/init.d/apache2 reload * Reloading web server config apache2 ...done. but when i visit the url some-site.net i get the index page that is for the default vhost...what am i doing wrong

  • Debugging "clogged" TCP connections

    - by Nikratio
I'm having trouble with an internet connection that seems to randomly "freeze" arbitrary tcp connections. The connections stay established, but no data is coming through. When this happens, netstat still shows the connection status as ESTABLISHED on both the local computer: Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State PID/Program name Timer tcp 0 53 192.168.0.10:41129 173.255.235.238:143 ESTABLISHED 8219/gnutls-cli on (79.31/13/0) ..and the remote server: Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State PID/Program name Timer tcp 0 0 173.255.235.238:143 68.5.174.98:41129 ESTABLISHED 5303/imapd off (0.00/0/0) However, it seems that no data at all is transferred. If I run strace on the local and remote process, both just show a repeating sequence of select calls (with different fds of course), e.g. select(6, [0 5], NULL, NULL, {0, 50000}) = 0 (Timeout) select(6, [0 5], NULL, NULL, {0, 50000}) = 0 (Timeout) select(6, [0 5], NULL, NULL, {0, 50000}) = 0 (Timeout) The internet connection overall does not seem affected, I can still establish new connections to the same service on the same server without any problems. However, the affected local applications seem to be unaware of the problem and just hang. When I look at a packet capture of this connection on the client side, the last thing that happens is that the client transmits some data, then nothing happens for about 1100 seconds, and then several TCP Retransmission requests go out, with intervals increasing from 4 seconds to 130 seconds. No activity is captured after that. After about 10 minutes, the connection on the remote end disappears from the netstat (I wasn't able to catch any intermediate state), but still stays ESTABLISHED on the local end. Finally, after some more minutes, the local application aborts with a timeout and disappears from the local netstat output as well. Does anyone have a suggestion of how I could debug this further to find out where the problem lies and how to fix it? Additionaly and/or as a temporary workaround: is is there some way to globally reduce the timeout on client and/or server to reduce the time before the local application aborts?

  • Apache2 Virtualhost practice config issue

    - by sisko
I am practicing virtualhost configuration. In my /var/www directory I have created 3 directories called test1, test2 and test3 each of which has a simple index.php script in it. I:E test1/index.php etc. In /etc/apache2/sites-available/test1 I have the following configuration: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerAdmin webmaster@localhost ServerName test1 DocumentRoot /var/www/test1 <Directory /> Options FollowSymLinks AllowOverride All </Directory> <Directory /var/www/test1/> Options -Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews AllowOverride All Order allow, deny allow from all </Directory> ErrorLog ${APACHE_LOG_DIR}/error.log # Possible values include: debug, info, notice, warn, error, crit, # alert, emerg. LogLevel warn CustomLog ${APACHE_LOG_DIR}/access.log combined </VirtualHost> All the other sites have a similar virtualHost definition. I have enabled the site(the symlink appears in sites-enabled) and I have restarted apache. However, when I visit localhost/test1, I get a 404 Error. My error log show the following message: [Wed Oct 23 06:22:52 2013] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] File does not exist: /var/www/test1/test1 I don't know why I get the double test1/test1 in the error logs. I'm trying to find the right virtualHost setup which will allow all 3 test websites to be served from their URLs I:E test1/index.php, test2/index.php and test3/index.php. Can anyone help me out, please?

  • BackupPC - why does it use rsync --sender --server ... ?

    - by Jakobud
I'm in the process of experimenting with BackupPC on a CentOS 5.5 server. I have everything pretty much setup with default values. I tried setting up a basic backup for a host's /www directory. The backup fails with the following errors: full backup started for directory /www Running: /usr/bin/ssh -q -x -l root target /usr/bin/rsync --server --sender --numeric-ids --perms --owner --group -D --links --hard-links --times --block-size=2048 --recursive --ignore-times . /www/ Xfer PIDs are now 30395 Read EOF: Connection reset by peer Tried again: got 0 bytes Done: 0 files, 0 bytes Got fatal error during xfer (Unable to read 4 bytes) Backup aborted (Unable to read 4 bytes) Not saving this as a partial backup since it has fewer files than the prior one (got 0 and 0 files versus 0) First of all, yes I have my ssh keys setup to allow me to ssh to the target server without requiring a password. In the process of troubleshooting, I tried the above ssh command directly from the command line, and it hangs. Looking at the end of the debug messages for SSH I get: debug1: Sending subsystem: /usr/bin/rsync --server --sender --numeric-ids --perms --owner --group -D --links --hard-links --times --block-size=2048 --recursive --ignore-times . /www/ Request for subsystem '/usr/bin/rsync --server --sender --numeric-ids --perms --owner --group -D --links --hard-links --times --block-size=2048 --recursive --ignore-times . /www/' failed on channel 0 Next I started looking at the rsync flags. I did not recognize --server and --sender. Looking at the rsync man pages, sure enough, I don't see anything about --server or --sender in there. What are those in there for? Looking at the BackupPC config I have this: RsyncClientPath = /usr/bin/rsync RsyncClientCmd = $sshPath -q -x -l root $host $rsyncPath $argList+ And for the arguments, I have the following listed: --numeric-ids --perms --owner --group -D --links --hard-links --times --block-size=2048 --recursive Notice there is no --server, --sender or --ignore-times. Why are these things getting added in? Is this part of the problem?

  • BackupExec 12 + RALUS - VERY slow backups

    - by LVDave
We use Backup Exec 12 and the Remote Agent for Linux/Unix Servers (RALUS) to backup a large RHEL5 system. For various reasons we need to do a daily working set job. These working-set jobs run abysmally slow. The link between the target machine and the BE server is gigabit, and any other type of job runs 1-3GB/min. These working-set jobs start out at perhaps 40MB/min and over the course of the backup job slowly drops down so low that the BE job rate display in the "current jobs" goes blank.. Since we usually are only doing changed-files for one day, the job is usually small and finishes overnight and we don't worry abotu the slowness, but we had some issues with the backup server, and missed about 6 days of fairly heavy work on the Linux box, so this working-set job will be a doozy.. We have support with Symantec, and I've pestered them a lot about this, they've had me run RALUS in debug mode, sent them that log and a VXgather from the BE host and they had no fix/workaround.. To give an idea, I have the mentioned working-set job running for the last 3 1/2 hours and it's backed up just under 10MEGAbytes.... I'm posting this here to see if anybody in the "real world" has seen this/and/or has any ideas what might be causing these abysmally slow jobs, since Symantec seems to be clueless...

  • JVM system time runs faster than HP UNIX OS system time

    - by winston
Hello I have the following output from a simple debug jsp: Weblogic Startup Since: Friday, October 19, 2012, 08:36:12 AM Database Current Time: Wednesday, December 12, 2012, 11:43:44 AM Weblogic JVM Current Time: Wednesday, December 12, 2012, 11:45:38 AM Line 1 was a recorded variable during WebLogic webapp startup. Line 2 was output from database query select sysdate from dual; Line 3 was output from java code new Date() I have checked from shell date command that line 2 output conforms with OS time. The output of line 3 was mysterious. I don't know how it comes from Java VM. On another machine with same setting, the same jsp output like this: Weblogic Startup Since: Tuesday, December 11, 2012, 02:29:06 PM Database Current Time: Wednesday, December 12, 2012, 11:51:48 AM Weblogic JVM Current Time: Wednesday, December 12, 2012, 11:51:50 AM Another machine: Weblogic Startup Since: Monday, December 10, 2012, 05:00:34 PM Database Current Time: Wednesday, December 12, 2012, 11:52:03 AM Weblogic JVM Current Time: Wednesday, December 12, 2012, 11:52:07 AM Findings: the pattern shows that the longer Weblogic startup, the larger the discrepancy of OS time with JVM time.
