• Correct syntax of a HTTP 100 Continue response

  For me, one of the weakest points of the HTTP 1.1 RFC and the various implementations around is how to deal with 100 Continue headers. I searched on the web for a while and had a look at different implementations. However, there is one thing I'm not sure of. what is the correct syntax of a 100 Continue message? Several sources claim, that this must be a single response line without any further header lines. However, I can't find that in the RFC 2616 reflected. So what is right? HTTP/1.1 100 Continue or HTTP/1.1 100 Continue [Additional Headers…] ?

• How can I view javadocs that have been added to a maven repository?

  I know I can use maven to pull the javadocs for an artifact (if they've been added), which should come through as a JAR (right?), which I can then unpack and browse. My problem is, I'm trying to figure out which of a series of artifacts have the particular package I'm hunting for. I could download a half-dozen javadoc packages, unpack all of them, then open the index files one at a time, but that sounds like it would be pretty unpleasant. There must be a better way! I noticed that Nexus supports javadoc artifact browsing, but apparently only in the Pro version (which we do not have, and are unlikely to get any time soon). I'd prefer a GUI solution, though I'd settle for a command line answer, provided it's something along the lines of showmethedocs groupId:artifactId [version].

• Cannot Generate ParameterSetMetadata While Programmatically Creating A Parameter Block

  I'm trying to programmatically create a parameter block for a function ( along the lines of this blog post ). I'm starting with a CommandMetadata object (from an existing function). I can create the ParameterMetadata object and set things like the ParameterType, the name, as well as some attributes. The problem I'm running into is that when I use the GetParamBlock method of the ProxyCommand class, none of my attributes that I set in the Attributes collection of the ParameterMetadata are generated. The problem this causes is that when the GetParamBlock is called, the new parameter is not annotated with the appropriate Parameter attribute. • Is there a semantic difference <span>'s and <div>'s?

  I know when coding HTML, I'm supposed to keep semantics in mind, e.g., h1 needs to be a main header, h2 needs to be a subheader, tables need to be tables, use <em> for emphasis instead of <i>, etc. Is there a proper difference between divs and spans except one is a block and the other is in-line? When I was learning I was told that <span>'s were for styling text mid-line. If I had a small blurb of text that I needed positioned at a certain point in my webpage, one that doesn't warrent a <p> tag, would I use a span should I stick with div's? What if that text needs to cover two lines (i.e., it needs a width) if it contains nothing but text, what should I use?

• Commercial CMS on Google App Engine, violation of terms?

  I'm developing commercial CMS running on Google App Engine. I'm thinking of selling it in two ways: 1) Software as a service (SaS). The CMS running in my App Engine account (as single app), hosting the sites of all customers. A turn-key solution for "end user" customers. 2) Licence for running the CMS in customer's own App Engine account. Targeted for digital agencies for reselling as SaS. Being not a lawyer myself, I don't trust my abilities to read between the lines of TOS jargon. Counting on the general knowledge of SO community, my question is: do the above scenarios violate the App Engine Terms of Service?

• How do I get my text to be direction from right to left without using a p tag?

  I have a dynamically appearing div on a page. I would like to be able to hide the div with a button at the top right corner of the div. One way I have found to do this is to use a p tag, like so: <p dir="RTL">button</p> If this is the first line of HTML within the div, it will put the button in the upper right hand corner of the div. However, it gives me a new line above and a new line below, so, the button isn't really where I want it to be. The "dir" attribute doesn't seem to work with a span tag, and if I display the p tag inline using css p { display:inline; } the button is no longer right aligned. Instead it stays in the left hand corner. Is there a way to get this button in the upper right hand corner without two unnecessary new lines and without a bunch of  ?

• Lining up the text in a tool tip, with the text in a combobox

  I see a lot of programs where if the text doesn't fit inside the bounds of the control, you can put your mouse over the control and the tooltip text will show you the full unclipped text, and also the tooltip text lines up completly with the text in the control. I'm trying to do that with a combobox in VB 2005 (.net version 2.0). In the tooltip draw event I've tried setting the tooltip location to the location of the AssociatedControl.DisplayRectangle, and the AssociatedControl.ClientRectangle. Each of these seem to put the tooltip text in the top left corner of the combobox, just slightly offset from the text in the combobox. Is there some type of padding I need to account for? or what's going on here?

• Removing whitespace in Java string?

  Hi guys, I'm writing a parser for some LISP files. I'm trying to get rid of leading whitespace in a string. The string contents are along the lines of: :FUNCTION (LAMBDA (DELTA PLASMA-IN-0) (IF (OR (>= #61=(+ (* 1 DELTA) PLASMA-IN-0) 100) (<= #61# 0)) PLASMA-IN-0 #61#)) The tabs are all printed as 4 spaces in the file, so I want to get rid of these leading tabs. I tried to do this: string.replaceAll("\\s{4}", " ") - but it had no effect at all on the string. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Is it because it is a multi-line string? Thanks

• Single SQL Server Result Set from Query

  Hi Please advise on how to merge two results in to one using SQL Server 2005. I have the situation where an Account can have up to two Settlement Instructions and this have been modeled like so: The slim-ed down schema: Account --------------------- Id AccountName PrimarySettlementId (nullable) AlternateSettlementId (nullable) SettlementInstruction ---------------------- Id Name The output I want is a single result set with a select statement something along the lines of this which will allow me to construct some java objects in my Spring row mapper: select Account.Id as accountId, Account.AccountName as accountName, s1.Id as primarySettlementId, s1.Name as primarySettlementName, s2.Id as alternateSettlementId, s2.Name as alternateSettlementName I've tried various things but cannot find a way to get the result set merged in to one where the primary and alternate FK's are not null. Finally I have searched the forum, but nothing quite seems to fit with what I need.

Is there some way of knowing from which page my form was submitted?   I have an R script file that executes a second R script via: source("../scripts/second_file.R") That second file has the following lines: myfiles <- list.files(".",pattern = "*.csv") ... rm(myfiles) When I run the master R file I get: > source("../scripts/second_file.R") Error in file.remove(myfiles) : object 'myfiles' not found and the program aborts. I think this has something to do with the environment. I looked at ?rm() pages but less than illuminating. I figure I have to give it a position argument, but not sure which.

I have sucessfuly implemented basic CRUD methods and I have no moved onto my DeepLoads. • setting syntax on in vim with large C file makes complete very slow

  when I have syntax on in a large C file (about 8000) lines the completion ctrl-p and ctrl-n are very slow (more than 20). When I turn syntax off then completion takes less than a second. Any ideas on how to solve this? Thanks! EDIT: I figured out a minimal way of reproducing this behaviour: with an empty .vimrc and .vim folder the only changed settings are :set syntax on :set foldmethod=syntax and a large C file to edit, completion (and even general editing) becomes very very slow.

  I'm looking for an algorithm to flip a 1 Bit Bitmap line horizontally. Remember these lines are DWORD aligned! I'm currently unencoding an RLE stream to an 8 bit-per-pixel buffer, then re-encoding to a 1 bit line, however, I would like to try and keep it all in the 1 bit space in an effort to increase its speed. Profiling indicates this portion of the program to be relatively slow compared to the rest. Example line (Before Flip): FF FF FF FF 77 AE F0 00 Example line (After Flip): F7 5E EF FF FF FF F0 00

• Windows Mobile application icon

  Is it possible to specify the application icon for a windows mobile app from a resource file or other configuration besides the .csproj? The reason I would like to do this is because I have an application that can be configured to run in several different ways. We would like to build out three unique .cabs based on these configurations, and we would like to use a different icon for each version. One option we've considered is just running multiple builds and swapping out the icon file each time, but we were hoping there would be a way to do this using a "resource" DLL or something along those lines, that could be compiled or linked in to the main .exe.

• How to add ONLY system tray icon to application?

  I am developing an application that will be running behind the scenes in Windows and would like to put an icon in the system tray for troubleshooting purposes (simple way for users to tell if the app is running). There is no other UI for the application, and the icon does not need to have any functionality as of right now. All of the solutions I have found as of yet involve creating a form. I am wondering if there is a way to simply add a class to my current C# code that allows me to control the icon, rather than doing the whole 'make a form, set it to be invisible....' nonsense that seems to be the popular suggestion on the forums. Something along the lines of the way that UI control is done in say, Swing for Java. I would really appreciate any ideas! (Sorry if this is a n00b question...I haven't used C# before...)   Hi, Is there a better way to write the following: row_counter = 0 for item in iterable_sequence: # do stuff with the item counter += 1 if not row_counter: # handle the empty-sequence-case Please keep in mind that I can't use len(iterable_sequence) because 1) not all sequences have known lengths; 2) in some cases calling len() may trigger loading of the sequence's items into memory (as the case would be with sql query results). The reason I ask is that I'm simply curious if there is a way to make above more concise and idiomatic. What I'm looking for is along the lines of: for item in sequence: #process item *else*: #handle the empty sequence case (assuming "else" here worked only on empty sequences, which I know it doesn't)

I have a complex GUI with few Tab Controls and it consumes quite a bit of memory which is kept allocated when the application is not active. I was hoping one of you may have got this working along the lines (or similar) Application Active User does work, plays with UI - enters some information in the text boxes and moves around the tabs User minimises the form to work with other applications On Minimise, Save the current state to the disk and dispose the root tabcontrol On Activiate, build the root tabcontrol from the disk and add to the controls collection Before I divein to do this, I thought it will help me if I ask this question here. • How to find/display the Upload File limits on IIS with ASP.NET?

  I have a web service on which the end users will be uploading ZIP archives that can be very large (one test file is over 200MB). I'd like to handle oversized files proactively and size-limited upload failures gracefully. Since the web app will be deployed on customers' machines, so I cannot easily ensure that the configuration matches any fixed size. I've documented how to use the appcmd command for them to set the requestLimits.maxAllowedContentLength value beyond the 30MB default. But I'd like to handle it in the web app; I'm hoping for two things: To show the current limit on the page where they initiate the file upload, something along the lines of: Each file upload is limited to 15MB. If your archive is larger, (etc., etc., etc.) To give a meaningful error when that size is exceeded. Currently, it takes a long time for the data to be sent, and then I see a misleading 404 page. Any thoughts?

  I'm creating a PDF file from a txt-template with tcpdf ([Example 8][1]). The txt-template looks like this: SALUTATION FIRSTNAME LASTNAME STREET CURRENTDATE SOMEMOREINFORMATION MYWEBSITE I replace those markers with the correct value. So that it would look like this: Mr. John Doe Downingstreet 10 14th May, 2010 [email protected] www.stackoverflow.com In this example, when I replace the values, the indention of the date is dependent on the length of the street name (which I don't want). I could solve this issue with str_pad but the problem is, I normally use three columns and there are lines which only have content in col1 and col3 as in the last line. How can I solve that problem? Is there something like the "overwrite" function in Word, that when you write, the text just gets overwritten? Thanks in advance.

• Determining if a coordinate is on a line

  I´m coding a little app that allows the user to draw multiple shapes and then remove or resize them. It´s working perfectly on rectangles and ovals, but I´m having issues with lines. Here´s a method that I wrote to find if the clicked spot on the screen is part of a specific line: public boolean containsLocation(int x, int y) { int m = (getY2() - getY()) / (getX2() - getX()); int b = getY() - (m * getX()); if (y == (m * x) + b) { return true; } return false; I´m using the famous y = mx + b formula and replacing y and x to find if the clicked spot is part of the line. The problem is when I click on the screen to remove the line, it only works if I click on the very fist coordinate (x,y) where the line starts. Nothing happens when I click anywhere else along the line. Can anyone shed a light on what I´m doing wrong? Thanks a lot.
