  • Will Apple's new "originally written in" clause affect your decision to target the iPhone?

    So, you've probably heard about Apple's change to its agreement to prohibit source-to-source translation, thereby blocking translation from Flash (in CS5) and also from Android (via XMLVM). You may also have read about a response by a well-known Adobe developer, and calls to boycott development for the iPhone. Given that this audience is a better representative of the developer community than those who post comments on the NYT, Digg, and other news sites, I was wondering what your opinions were about this decision. Will any of you switch to Android from the iPhone or avoid development on the iPhone as a result of this? Since this is fairly subjective, I am making this a community wiki. Also, please, keep things civil.

  • Loading the target of a link in a <DIV> via jQuery's .live event into the same <DIV>??

    Hello together I call a certain div from another page with jquery to be loaded into a div on my main page like this: <script type="text/javascript"> $("#scotland").load("http://www.example.com/scotland .gallery"); </script> <div id="scotland"></div> The div I call is a piece of code which is automatically generated by a CMS made simple module, by the way. Now it comes to my problem: The .gallery div I call, looks, a little simplified, like this: <div class="gallery"> <span><img src="http://www.example.com/scotlandimage1.jpg"></span> <span class="imgnavi"><a href="link_to_next_page_with_one_image">Next image</href></span> </div> I want the "next image"-link to load the next page into the .gallery div (it is always a page with one image on it). But what it does, is, it opens the new page http://www.example.com/scotland only. I tried to use jquerys .live event to load the linked page (that would be "scotlandimage2" and the navigation, as you can see in the upper part - not only the image!), but I must have done something wrong. I tried different ways, but never got it to work. This was my last try: $(".imgnavi a").click(function() { var myUrl = $(this).attr("href"); $(".gallery").load(myUrl); return false; }); I have to admit that I am very new to jquery...   • What do I use if a CSS framework or grid is bad?

    Reference this question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/203069/what-is-the-best-css-framework-and-are-they-worth-the-effort Do I go back to the "old" way of manually creating a template or downloading free ones again. For a little bit I thought a grid was the new thing and the best, now it appears I am wrong after all and not sure of best practice. And, yes, I can write my own CSS but didn't want to create the infrastructure if I didn't have to.

  • How can I find installed programs dependent on any version of the .NET framework?

    I have an application that uses .NET 3.5SP1, but I have been having a LOT of random crashes with it. I am starting to narrow the fields of possible causes to the framework itself, where I suspect some other app is installing a lower patch version. Is there any apps in the wild, or anything I can slap together that can tell me what apps that are installed that depend on .NET to run? Their minimum required version would be nice to know also, but not necessary.

    I'm creating a static library in C++. The static library itself links to nothing. To test the static library, I'm creating a test program in C++ (you know, with a main function). Now, I want that whenever I click Build in Xcode, it compiles the static library first, then compiles the test program and link that test program to the static library, like this: # The steps indicate the order Xcode should compile it # (Step 1) Static Library <----------. | (Step 2) Test Program -------> Standard Library Also, the test program should use the header files of the static library.     Hi Fiburt, Today I meet a similar problem and it reminds me about this thread. In Visual Studio, if we open the .csproj file, we see that they tell us to uncomment the two targets AfterBuild and BeforeBuild so as to execute them after and before the build of the current project accordingly. My questions are: Where are these two targets called in Visual Studio? And how is it handled if the targets are not defined (be commented out) ?

  • Live CD has black screen HP DV6

    Attempting to install/try ubuntu (11.10, 12.04) on my new laptop, using a liveCD (and tried USB). I get the purple screen (with the man/keyboard at the bottom) and after that the screen flashes bright white before going black. Ubuntu continues to load in the background, with login sound etc but the screen is off. I have tried as many different solutions as I could find including: using nomodestep, xforcevesa, i915.modeset=0, and also now i915.modeset=1 in boot options (seperately): varying consequences, but either I end up at a blinking cursor with no prompt, a command line (startx fails: no screen found), or the original blank screen again Tried booting from VirtualBox - it crashes at the same place the screen would go blank when using a CD/USB tried 11.04: I don't have this problem BUT when trying to install, I get a ubi-partman error 141 (possibly down to the three partitions that came on my laptop... not sure why HP needed there own separate partition for HP Tools...) Model: HP Pavillion DV6 6B08SA Processor: AMD Quad-Core A6-3410MX APU with Radeon HD 6545G2 Dual Graphics (1.6 GHZ 4 MB L2 cache ) Chipset: AMD RS880M Any help would be greatly appreciated. I just want to be able to partition the drive and install Ubuntu. I'm assuming the issue is graphics card related, although I have no confirmation of that. Update: Tried the ?orkarounds on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Troubleshooting/BlankScreen - set gfxpayload=text changed nothing, removing splash did nothing and setting vesafb.nonsense=1 did nothing either.     In case something goes wrong in creating a file, I've been writing to a temporary file and then moving to the destination. Yet if I create a file via explorer/notepad etc directly in the "C:\foo" there's no issues, so I believe the permissions are correctly set on "C:\foo". Update Found Inherited permissions are not automatically updated when you move folders, maybe it applies to folders as well. Now looking for a way to force an update of file permissions. Is there a better way overall of doing this?

    I have an asp.net C# web forms application in .net framework 4 In my pages, when I view html source it changes control IDs to something like ctl00_CPHPageContents_txtUserID actually it is txtUserID This application was first in Framework 3.5 and IDs were generated like CPHPageContents_txtUserID So, in short, in Framework 3.5 Id was CPHPageContents_txtUserID and now in Framework 4 ID is ctl00_CPHPageContents_txtUserID which is breaking our automation tests. Can I remove this ctl00 added by Framework 4?
