  • Eclipse throwing error when copying and pasting

    I am using Eclipse 3.5 SR2 for Java EE developers. Each time I press control+C or control+V for the first time after I open a file I get an error. After I close the error, I can successfully copy and paste. The error message made me believe that it was related to the Mylyn plugin, but I uninstalled it and still no difference. Has anyone else experience this problem? I also have the subclipse, adobe flex builder, and maven plugins installed. The 'org.eclipse.mylyn.tasks.ui.hyperlinks.detectors.url' extension from plug-in 'org.eclipse.mylyn.tasks.ui' to the 'org.eclipse.ui.workbench.texteditor.hyperlinkDetectors' extension point failed to load the hyperlink detector. I run getJSON() to fetch the info from the PHP which pulls from DB and I fill a div with the result. I have jScrollPane and jEditable so a user can scroll down and click to edit any of the content. It works sometimes and then it doesn't work which makes me wonder if the browser is not interpreting the code properly or if I am misunderstanding fundamental DOM concepts here.... When I drag the draggable div on the droppables divs I want to find which droppable has been affeckted.   • I can write code...but can't design well. Any suggestions?

    I feel that I am good at writing code in bits and pieces, but my designs really suck. The question is how do I improve my designs (in order to become a better designer). I think schools and colleges do a good job of teaching people as to how to become good at mathematical problem solving, but lets admit the fact that most programs taught at school are generally around 1000 - 2000 lines long, which means that it is mostly an academic exercise and no way reflects the complexity of real world software (a few hundred thousand to millions of lines of code). This is where I believe that even projects like topcoder/project euler also won't be of much help, they might sharpen your mathematical problem solving ability - but you might become a theoretician programmer; someone who is more interested in the nice, clean stuff, and someone who is utterly un-interested in the day to day mundane and hairy stuff that most application programmers deal with. So my question is how do I improve my design skills? That is the ability to design small/medium scale applications that will go into a few thousand of lines of code? How can I learn design skills that would help me build a better html editor kit, or some graphics program like gimp?

The one with the most votes (link text) isn't supported anymore. Can someone please point me to an industrial strength treeview? Desired Features: 1. stable 2. async / ajax would be nice 3. drag and drop nodes would be nice I've been delighted so far with JQueryUI--nice design. I need to build several pages that should display basically the same information with the same layout, but on one page some fields will be editable, and on a different page other fields will be editable.     Hi designers/developers, I am looking for a way of graphically showing a countdown. I am working for a large Hospital and have written an Ambulance page that shows ambulance arriving in a datagrid with the time of arriving at the hospital in minutes and seconds (plus other info). They have asked me for somehow visually representing the information, so it fits with there other visually appealing Emergency Department web application (e.g. progress bar or something better): 1) Can somebody show me (visually appealing) design examples on how this could be done 2) Are there solutions in .Net (ASP.net or JQuery or Javascript) since this is our preferred technology Thanks so much!

    Question Where can I find a list of changes introduced to Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate RTM that were added since Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate RC? In fact, I'm only interested in changes related to MS Test Manager 2010 and Coded UI Tests. Where I have looked so far I have searched the Internet, looked for a readme.txt in the installation folder, looked into the Visual Studio help (F1) and browsed the "What's new in Visual Studio 2010" section on MSDN. No luck. Found Scott Guthrie's blog post Visual Studio 2010 and .NET 4 Released, but that's not exactly what I am looking for. It's not a changelog since VS2010RC. I suppose there is no such file because they made too many changes to document and hand out to end users. But if there was, I'd be glad if someone could point me to it. Thanks.

And the argument still rages. I see Singletons as a Design Pattern (good and bad). The problem with Singleton is not the Pattern but rather the users (sorry everybody). Everybody and their father thinks they can implement one correctly (and from the many interviews I have done, most people can't). Also because everybody thinks they can implement a correct Singleton they abuse the Pattern and use it in situations that are not appropriate (replacing global variables with Singletons!). So the main questions that need to be answered are: When should you use a Singleton How do you implement a Singleton correctly My hope for this article is that we can collect together in a single place (rather than having to google and search multiple sites) an authoritative source of when (and then how) to use a Singleton correctly. Also appropriate would be a list of Anti-Usages and common bad implementations explaining why they fail to work and for good implementations their weaknesses. So get the ball rolling: I will hold my hand up and say this is what I use but probably has problems.
