  • Android OpenGL deltaTime Measure issue

    - by droidmachine
    I'm measuring deltaTime like that: deltaTime = (System.nanoTime()-startTime) / 1000000000.0f; startTime = System.nanoTime(); But I'm always getting different float values and because of that my game is stuttering.What can be the problem of that? 09-03 03:51:59.219: D/a(21807): 0.017184043 09-03 03:51:59.234: D/a(21807): 0.016405167 09-03 03:51:59.249: D/a(21807): 0.018071748 09-03 03:51:59.269: D/a(21807): 0.015293334 09-03 03:51:59.284: D/a(21807): 0.016080335 09-03 03:51:59.299: D/a(21807): 0.018669458 09-03 03:51:59.314: D/a(21807): 0.014720625 09-03 03:51:59.334: D/a(21807): 0.01605596 09-03 03:51:59.349: D/a(21807): 0.017086169

  • Android string formatiing from xml

    - by mann
    I am parsing xml from server. One of its node contains data like <distance>16.3432434324354324km</distance> I am putting it into hashmap like for (int i = 0; i < nl.getLength(); i++) { map.put(KEY_DISTANCE, parser.getValue(e, KEY_DISTANCE)); // adding HashList to ArrayList menuItems.add(map); } Everything is nice. But i want it two decimal places for example i want its value should be 16.34km rather then 16.343234324342342km I tried with DecimalFormat twoDForm=new DecimalFormat("##.00"); try{ Double StartVTwo=Double.valueOf(KEY_DISTANCE); Double resultDouble1 = Double.valueOf(twoDForm.format(StartVTwo)); Log.e("check", String.valueOf(resultDouble1)); }catch (NumberFormatException e){ Log.e("error"," This is error "); } But it shows exception and prints this message. Any help would be appreciated!!

  • Android -- Object Creation/Memory Allocation vs. Performance

    - by borg17of20
    Hello all, This is probably an easy one. I have about 20 TextViews/ImageViews in my current project that I access like this: ((TextView)multiLayout.findViewById(R.id.GameBoard_Multi_Answer1_Text)).setText(""); //or ((ImageView)multiLayout.findViewById(R.id.GameBoard_Multi_Answer1_Right)).setVisibility(View.INVISIBLE); My question is this, am I better off, from a performance standpoint, just assigning these object variables? Further, am I losing some performance to the constant "search" process that goes on as a part of the findViewById(...) method? (i.e. Does findsViewById(...) use some sort of hashtable/hashmap for look-ups or does it implement an iterative search over the view hierarchy?) At present, my program never uses more than 2.5MB of RAM, so will assigning 20 or so more object variables drastically affect this? I don't think so, but I figured I'd ask. Thanks.

  • Android: Problems downloading images and converting to bitmaps

    - by Mike
    Hi all, I am working on an application that downloads images from a url. The problem is that only some images are being correctly downloaded and others are not. First off, here is the problem code: public Bitmap downloadImage(String url) { HttpClient client = new DefaultHttpClient(); HttpResponse response = null; try { response = client.execute(new HttpGet(url)); } catch (ClientProtocolException cpe) { Log.i(LOG_FILE, "client protocol exception"); return null; } catch (IOException ioe) { Log.i(LOG_FILE, "IOE downloading image"); return null; } catch (Exception e) { Log.i(LOG_FILE, "Other exception downloading image"); return null; } // Convert images from stream to bitmap object try { Bitmap image = BitmapFactory.decodeStream(response.getEntity().getContent()); if(image==null) Log.i(LOG_FILE, "image conversion failed"); return image; } catch (Exception e) { Log.i(LOG_FILE, "Other exception while converting image"); return null; } } So what I have is a method that takes the url as a string argument and then downloads the image, converts the HttpResponse stream to a bitmap by means of the BitmapFactory.decodeStream method, and returns it. The problem is that when I am on a slow network connection (almost always 3G rather than Wi-Fi) some images are converted to null--not all of them, only some of them. Using a Wi-Fi connection works perfectly; all the images are downloaded and converted properly. Does anyone know why this is happening? Or better, how can I fix this? How would I even go about testing to determine the problem? Any help is awesome; thank you!

  • android webview returns blank page when load dynamic html page

    - by user2962555
    I am trying to click one button to load a page into a div block dynamically. To test it, I try to append a list item with text "abc" into the loaded page. However, I always get a blank page. load function works fine because if I try to load a static page, it works. Following is my main html page code. <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <meta charset="utf-8"> <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1"> <title>LoadPageTest</title> <link rel="stylesheet" href="http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Open+Sans:300,400,700"> <link rel="stylesheet" href="./css/customizedstyle.css"> <link rel="stylesheet" href="./css/themes/default/jquery.mobile-1.4.3.min.css"> <link rel="stylesheet" href="./css/jqm-demos.css"> <script src="./js/jquery.js"></script> <script scr="./js/customizedjs.js"></script> <script src="./js/jquery.mobile-1.4.3.min.js"></script> <script> $( document ).on( "pagecreate", "#demo-page", function() { $( document ).on( "swipeleft swiperight", "#demo-page", function( e ) { if ( $( ".ui-page-active" ).jqmData( "panel" ) !== "open" ) { if ( e.type === "swipeleft" ) { $( "#right-panel" ).panel( "open" ); } } }); }); </script> <style type="text/css"> body { overflow:hidden; } </style> </head> <body style= "overflow:hidden" scrolling="no"> <style type="text/css"> body { overflow:hidden; } </style> <div data-role="page" id="main-page" style= "overflow:hidden" scrolling="no"> <div role="main" class="ui-content" id ="maindiv" style= "overflow: auto"> Will load diff pages here. </div><!-- /content --> <div data-role="panel" id="left-panel" data-theme="b"> <ul data-role="listview" data-icon="false" id="menu"> <li> <a href="#" id = "btnA" data-rel="close">Go Page A <img src="./images/icona.png" class="ui-li-thumb"/> </li> <li> <a href="#" id = "btnB" data-rel="close">Go Page B <img src="./images/iconb.png" class="ui-li-thumb"/> </li> </ul> </div><!-- /panel --> <script type="text/javascript"> $("#btnA").on("click", function(){ $("#maindiv").empty(); $("#maindiv").load("pageA.html"); }); $("#btnB").on("click", function(){ $("#maindiv").empty(); $("#maindiv").load("pageB.html"); }); </script> </div><!-- /page --> </body> </html> Next is code for the page I try to load dynamically. <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <meta charset="utf-8"> <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1"> <title>Page should be loaded</title> <link rel="stylesheet" href="http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Open+Sans:300,400,700"> <link rel="stylesheet" href="./css/customizedstyle.css"> <link rel="stylesheet" href="./css/themes/default/jquery.mobile-1.4.3.min.css"> <link rel="stylesheet" href="./css/jqm-demos.css"> <script src="./js/jquery.js"></script> <script scr="./js/customizedjs.js"></script> <script src="./js/jquery.mobile-1.4.3.min.js"></script> <script> $(document).on('pagebeforeshow', function () { $('#postlist').append('<li> abc </li>'); $('#postlist').listview('refresh'); }); </script> </head> <body > <div data-role="page" id="posthome"> <div data-role = "content"> <ul data-role='listview' id = "postlist"> </ul> </div> </div> </body> </html> I doubt if it is because my javascript in the page doesn't work, cause the swipe js code in the main page seems not work either. Is that possible? I have enabled javascript in the onCreate() function of the activity file as below. protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.activity_message); new LongRunningGetIO().execute(); mWebView = (WebView) findViewById(R.id.webview); mWebView.setWebViewClient(new AppClient()); mWebView.setVerticalScrollBarEnabled(false); mWebView.getSettings().setJavaScriptEnabled(true); mWebView.getSettings().setDomStorageEnabled(true); mWebView.loadUrl("file:///android_asset/index.html"); } I noticed there is a warning for statement to enable javascript "Using setJavaScriptEnabled can introduce XSS vulnerabilities into you application, review carefully". Will that maybe the reason? Then, I added @SuppressLint("SetJavaScriptEnabled") on top of the activity. The warning is gone, but the js code in pages seem still not work.

  • draw is being constantly called in my android map overlay

    - by Itsik
    I'm trying to draw a route onto my MapView. I've extended Overlay and implemented the draw() method. The route is displayed properly, although while debugging, I added a breakpoint on draw(), and noticed it is being called constantly. I only want it to be re-drawn if someone moves the map or zooms (the draw take into account these changes when drawing the route) What can cause this ?

  • android accelerometer accuracy is extremely poor

    Wrote a simple program that prints out accelerometer output. mSensorManager = (SensorManager)getSystemService(SENSOR_SERVICE); mSensorManager.registerListener(this,mSensorManager.getDefaultSensor(Sensor.TYPE_ACCELEROMETER), SensorManager.SENSOR_DELAY_FASTEST); It turns out that: The accelerometer output is always set to "lowest" as determined by: public void onAccuracyChanged(Sensor sensor, int accuracy) { if (collectingData){ accelPrecision.setText("accelerometer accuracy: " + accuracy); } } The actual accelerometer readings are very inaccurate - about 2%-5% fluctuations even when it's resting on the table as far as I can tell it's the same problem on Nexus S, Nexus One and G1 Any idea how it could be made mode accurate / what sets a

  • Android admob questions

    - by semajhan
    Nothing about how to implement ads via admob into an application or anything. I'm just new to ads and it's pretty confusing to get a good grasp on how it works. I've been wanting to put out an app with ads in it but have been reading you need to initially pay at least $50 to get started? I thought it was free to ad whatever ads to display on YOUR app. Or is the $ for adding your own advertising on OTHER people's apps? I'm so confused. Someone please enlighten me, thanks!

  • Custom android preference type loses focus when typing

    - by Brian
    I created a simple preference class that shows an AutoCompleteTextView control and it displays properly but when i focus on the AutoCompleteTextView and start typing it brings up the keyboard but then immediately loses focus on the control. Any idea why this loses focus? Here's what i did to create the view. the inflated layout is just a basic linear layout with a title textview in it. I could change it to a dialog preference instead I guess but it'd be smoother if it could be part of the base view. @Override protected View onCreateView(ViewGroup parent) { LayoutInflater inflater = (LayoutInflater) getContext().getSystemService(Context.LAYOUT_INFLATER_SERVICE); LinearLayout layout = (LinearLayout) inflater.inflate(R.layout.base_preference, null); if (mHint != null) { TextView hintView = (TextView) layout.findViewById(R.id.PreferenceHintTextView); hintView.setText(mHint); } TextView titleView = (TextView) layout.findViewById(R.id.PreferenceTitleTextView); titleView.setText(getTitle()); AutoCompleteTextView inputView = new AutoCompleteTextView(getContext()); inputView.setGravity(Gravity.FILL_HORIZONTAL); ArrayAdapter<CharSequence> adapter = new ArrayAdapter<CharSequence>(getContext(), R.layout.auto_complete_text_list_item, getEntries()); inputView.setAdapter(adapter); inputView.setThreshold(1); inputView.setOnItemSelectedListener(this); layout.addView(inputView); return layout; }

  • Android ProgressDialog inside another dialog

    - by La bla bla
    I'm working on a game using AndEngine, and I need to show the users the list of his Facebook friends. I've created my custom Adatper and after the loading finishes everything works great. I have a problem with the loading it self. The ListView is inside a custom dialog, since I don't really know how to create one using AndEngine, So inside this dialog, I'm running an AsyncTask to fetch the friends' info, in that AsyncTask I'm have a ProgressDialog. The problem is, the ProgressDialog shows up behind the dialog that contains the to-be list (which while loading, is just the title). I can see the ProgressDialog "peeking" behind that dialog.. Any Ideas? Here's some code: FriendsDialog.java private ProgressDialog dialog; //Constructor of the AsyncTask public FriendsLoader(Context context) { dialog = new ProgressDialog(context); dialog.setMessage("Please wait..\nLoading Friends List."); } @Override protected void onPreExecute() { dialog.requestWindowFeature(Window.FEATURE_NO_TITLE); LayoutInflater inflater = (LayoutInflater)context.getSystemService(Context.LAYOUT_INFLATER_SERVICE); dialog.setView(inflater.inflate(R.layout.loading, null)); dialog.setMessage("Please wait..\nLoading friends."); dialog.show(); } @Override protected void onPostExecute(ArrayList<HashMap<String, Object>> data) { if (dialog.isShowing()) { dialog.dismiss(); } MyAdapter myAdapter = new MyAdapter(context, data); listView = (ListView) findViewById(R.id.list); listView.setAdapter(myAdapter); listView.setOnItemClickListener(new AdapterView.OnItemClickListener() { @Override public void onItemClick(AdapterView<?> myAdapter, View myView, int myItemInt, long mylng) { String id = (String) listView.getItemAtPosition(myItemInt); listener.onUserSelected(id); dismiss(); } }); }

  • Android - save/restore state of custom class

    - by user1209216
    I have some class for ssh support - it uses jsch internally. I use this class on main activity, this way: public class MainActivity extends Activity { SshSupport ssh = new SshSupport(); ..... @Override protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); //Handle events for ssh ssh.eventHandler = new ISshEvents() { @Override public void SshCommandExecuted(SshCommandsEnum commandType, String result) { } //other overrides here } //Ssh operations on gui item click @Override public void onItemClick(AdapterView<?> arg0, View v, int position, long arg3) { if (ssh.IsConnected() == false) { try { ssh.ConnectAsync(/*parameters*/); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } try { ssh.ExecuteCommandAsync(SshCommandsEnum.values()[position]); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } }); } It works very well. My application connects to ssh, performs all needed operation in background thread and results are reported to gui, via events as shown above. But nothing works after user change device orientation. It's clear for me - activity is re-created and all state is lost. Unfortunately, my SshSupport class object is lost as well. It's pretty easy to store gui state for dynamically changed/added objects (using put/get serializable etc methods). But I have no idea how to prevent my ssh object, ssh connected session being lost. Since my class is not serializable, I can't save it to bundle. Also, even if I make my SshSupport class serializable, jsch objects it uses still are not serializable. So what is the best way to solve this?
