• SEO: Firefox addon/plugin to see Google results with a position number?

  Do you know a Firefox addon that adds postion number to Google/Yahoo results. When I do SEO report for www.some-site.com by keyphrase "some-keyphrase" I usually show results in blocks of 100 results per page. Then uisng browser find box I search for "some-site.com", if found in page I see its position, but I have to count by hand the number of results before (or after) it to know the exact position number. It would be handful a simple addon that adds a number positioning before each result like: 1. Result blah blah Snippet... url 2. Result blah blah Snippet... url etc.

• It appears you are running a x server NVIDIA Drivers 304.02 Ubuntu 12.04

  So I went to NVIDIA's site and I saw they had a version with a lot of bug fixes. http://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/49073 and I downloaded it, I ran the .run file rooted. It keeps saying "It appears you are running a x server" I don't have any current NVIDIA driver installed, I tried the nvidia x-config thing but that didn't work. It just says it can't be found. Should I wait until that version gets on Ubuntu's software center? I don't feel like installing their old and bad version of the drivers.

  In my quest to keep my fingers on the pulse of MDM, I recently found a pretty interesting article.  The article was published in Information Week and provides some interesting statistics from a recent survey conducted by the analyst firm, The Information Difference.  Let's take a look: Of the 130 organizations surveyed, 53% have live operational MDM implementations 81% of those with live operational MDM implementations report broad success - a huge improvement over 2011's 54% 64% developed a business case prior to their MDM deployment, while a daring 32% went ahead without a business case.    The article goes on to talk about the shift in vendors from focusing on customer data and product information management to one that is oriented around multi-domain master data management as well as other realities around MDM.  Take a look at the article. • How to patch libgphoto2 for preview pictures in Shotwell while importing?

  Under some circumstances, Shotwell shows no photo thumbnails while importing. I was trying to download some pictures from my camera (Canon EOS 400D) with Shotwell and the program didn't show any preview for the pictures before downloading them (it just shows a "forbidden" snapshot). After importing them everything seems fine. I've found this bug report but no solution is given for now. It seems there could be a solution for EOS cameras, according to the last comment. This guy links to a patch, but it's not downloadable. Any ideas of where to obtain a deb package of this patch or of any other solution?

• shotwell does not copy, but import them without copying

  I tryed to import photos from my external harddisk into shotwell. After doing this, I disconected the harddisk and the photos disapeared immediately. I saw that the photos had been importet into the database without being copied. Copying the whole file into the picturefile is possible, but I would like to have to same fileorder in my library. Not a mixed up (organised by date (shotwell) and organised by filenames (my old organisation). It has not been any problem copying photos from a dvd. Is there any possibility to have the same filestructure for all fotos or is there a bug in shotwell? Thanks

  I know that apache has a security bug http://seclists.org/fulldisclosure/2011/Aug/175 So if you do this command: curl -I -H "Range: bytes=0-1,0-2" -s www.yandex.ru/robots.txt it says HTTP/1.1 206 Partial Content it means, the problem is exist. But the fact is, that for apache tomcat (our server) curl says 206 Partial Content as well. So we need to fix it. I found solution for apache HTTP (.htaccess, mod_headers) but not for tomcat. I'm very newbie for servers things, so can't understand most, so please help

  We have a large team of developers and testers. The ratio is one tester for every one developer. We have full bug tracking and reporting systems in place. We have test plans in place. Every change to the product, the testing team is involved in the design of the feature and are included in the development process as much as possible. We build in small iterative blocks, using scrum methodology and every scrum they are included in, including the grooming sessions etc. But every release of the product, they miss even the most simple and obvious defects. How can we improve this?

• adding pls to rhythmbox

  I try to add .pls radio station to rhythmbox. I download the file and I click musicimport file but nothing happen. I added one station before and it works fine but now it simply does not work. Also when I try to get from the file, click on open with rhythmbox I have the error: Couldn't start playback Problem occurred without error being set. This is a bug in Rhythmbox or GStreamer. I have all medibuntu installed and I have one radio station already playing. I don't know how to proceed from now and what should I check if there is something to fix. Anyone get similar problem? (Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit Gnome3)

• Using XNA libraries in your Silverlight Windows Phone 7 applications

  I recently got an inquiry to my Microsoft Translator sample on if this would work with the Silverlight in the Windows Phone 7 SDK. I hadnt tried it before, so I created a sample Windows Phone 7 application and copied the code over. I used a basic UI to mock up the similarities: And then clicked the button. The text translated fine, but no audio. I didnt get any warnings that the WaveMSS code sample I was using wouldnt work. Then I remembered about XNA. • Oneiric updates cause "Window Creation Error" in Second Life client

  With the latest Oneiric updates, I've been unable to use Second Life, a virtual reality simulator, in Ubuntu. I assume it has something to do with the NVidia driver, since the error in the console says: WARNING: createWindow: LLWindowManager::create() : Error creating window. WARNING: LLViewerWindow: Failed to create window, to be shutting Down, be sure your graphics driver is updated I guess I could file a bug on Launchpad, but I'm not sure where to file it. Does anyone have any insight into what may be causing this problem? It was working fine a week ago, and older viewers (Imprudence viewer anyway) still work fine.

• CSS not loading when site is viewed via Windows VPN

  Internal site has recently been redesigned, but IE8 does not seem to be loading the new css rules only when viewed via VPN. I really have no clue what to look for. I can't reproduce the problem, but it's apparently affecting client for the last month. I've suggested: Reloading IE8 Checking Internet Permissions Flushing the cache I'm not really certain what direction to search for the answer. Is it likely to be a server permissions issue? a VPN connection issue? a rare ie8 CSS bug?

• How should I study a competitor's off page SEO?

  What are the things I need to do, and with what tools to know what a competitor has working for him/her off-page (free and paid tools -- please suggest both)? First of all, I'm supposing I want to see all of the sites linking in and see what anchor text is used. Is there something that would report on the anchor text linking in, such as counting the keyword phrases used as anchor text? Also, it would be helpful to see where the PR is coming from by PR, such as, listing inbound links by PR of the page linking in. Lastly, if I'm missing something, here in the way of off-page attributes, please say so.

  Hi all, today we would like to show you one small improvement related to running external commands (e.g. generating documentation, running framework commands etc.) which will be available in NetBeans 7.3. First, have a look at the screenshot: As you can see, the first line represents the command that is being executed. In case of any error, this command can be easily copy & pasted to the console for deeper investigation (and proper bug reports ;). Also please notice that the Output window now supports background colors.   Certain windows are not opening in the last position/size I used them at. Opening "compose a message" with evolution through the message menu on the toolbar opens a window that is always in the top left of my screen. Opening Firefox 4.0 always opens maximized, even if i last used it in "windowed" mode. Other things I've tried that won't remember my custom positions: ccsm, terminal, gedit, sound recorder, calculator. Some other stuff works fine like banshee, empathy, shutter, deluge. Is this a bug? Is there a way to make these applications open in their last used positions/sizes?

• No wireless after resuming from suspend?

  When I resume my computer from suspend it doesn't want to connect to any wireless connection. It looks like it is connecting, but after a while it asks me to retype a password for wireless connection. It connect after I restart it. • GUI won't load, but the desktop background loads. Can't access the terminal

  Having trouble with the Ubuntu GUI. I can log in just fine (see this)... everything looks normal there. But as soon as I put in my password, I get this. I tried a few different troubleshooting keyboard commands (ctrl+alt+t, crtl+alt+delete), and only the latter worked. I can interact with that window just fine, except I am unable to resize or move it. The first time I logged in, I got a dialog box that said, "Ubuntu has experienced an internal error. Send error report?" Doesn't say anything now. Yes I tried restarting it. Thanks a bunch, Michael EDIT: Trying to start a guest session leads to the same problem.

• Sending Mass Emails

  I have a massive list of users who registered for accounts and opted into a mailing list on my web site and I am interested in sending out a weekly newsletter. How should I go about doing this. I tried sending it out through my host server, but I received a notice stating that if I did it again they would kick me off the server. Are there any good companies that are designed for this type of thing? I need to find a company that will support this and show me some sort of report about how many emails get opened, deleted, opened then deleted, etc. Any recommendations?

First on the message "Are you registered on the network", immediately after that, "You are disconnected from the network." This happened after there was an internal error notification Ubuntu. • Is it possible to use binary nvidia driver with GeForce 7300 SE?

  I have an Nvidia GeForce 7300 SE. It worked fine with the nvidia driver when I was using 10.10. When I upgraded to 12.04, the (nvidia-current) binary driver failed---I couldn't even get a login screen. The "nouveau" driver works okay, but the display is quite sluggish. I've read about the fact that my GeForce is blacklisted (here and here). But, when I tried the suggested workaround of using nvidia-173, I discovered that it wouldn't install because of a failed dependency: xorg-video-abi-10 (Package not available). The "precise" nvidia-173 package page notes this (dependency bug?) So, my real question: is there a GeForce 7300 SE workaround for 12.04?

• Fujitsu B6220 laptop, sometimes my desktop freezes upon resume from standby

  I installed Ubuntu 11.10 on my Fujitsu Lifebook B6220 laptop just before 12.04 was released. I can not remember if I had this issue with Ubuntu 11.10 as I updated the install to 12.04 about a week after 12.04 came out. My problem is that sometimes upon resume from standby my desktop is frozen. The keyboard, touch pad, and touchscreen work, but there is no response from the desktop. I can ctrl-alt-f2 and log in and then from there I just reboot the computer. This happens about 50% of the time when I resume from standby but I have not noticed a distinct pattern. I have thought about reinstalling 12.04, since I upgraded 11.10 to 12.04 instead of a fresh install. But I have customized my laptop a lot and I would prefer to avoid reinstalling it, I'm not even sure if that would fix it. Anyone have a idea what might be the problem? If I should submit this as a bug, could someone point me in the right direction please? Thanks, Matt
