  • Double Linked List Insertion Sorting Bug

    - by house
    Hello, I have implemented an insertion sort in a double link list (highest to lowest) from a file of 10,000 ints, and output to file in reverse order. To my knowledge I have implemented such a program, however I noticed in the ouput file, a single number is out of place. Every other number is in correct order. The number out of place is a repeated number, but the other repeats of this number are in correct order. Its just strange how this number is incorrectly placed. Also the unsorted number is only 6 places out of sync. I have looked through my program for days now with no idea where the problem lies, so I turn to you for help. Below is the code in question, (side note: can my question be deleted by myself? rather my colleges dont thieve my code, if not how can it be deleted?) void DLLIntStorage::insertBefore(int inValue, node *nodeB) { node *newNode; newNode = new node(); newNode->prev = nodeB->prev; newNode->next = nodeB; newNode->value = inValue; if(nodeB->prev==NULL) { this->front = newNode; } else { nodeB->prev->next = newNode; } nodeB->prev = newNode; } void DLLIntStorage::insertAfter(int inValue, node *nodeB) { node *newNode; newNode = new node(); newNode->next = nodeB->next; newNode->prev = nodeB; newNode->value = inValue; if(nodeB->next == NULL) { this->back = newNode; } else { nodeB->next->prev = newNode; } nodeB->next = newNode; } void DLLIntStorage::insertFront(int inValue) { node *newNode; if(this->front == NULL) { newNode = new node(); this->front = newNode; this->back = newNode; newNode->prev = NULL; newNode->next = NULL; newNode->value = inValue; } else { insertBefore(inValue, this->front); } } void DLLIntStorage::insertBack(int inValue) { if(this->back == NULL) { insertFront(inValue); } else { insertAfter(inValue, this->back); } } ifstream& operator>> (ifstream &in, DLLIntStorage &obj) { int readInt, counter = 0; while(!in.eof()) { if(counter==dataLength) //stops at 10,000 { break; } in >> readInt; if(obj.front != NULL ) { obj.insertion(readInt); } else { obj.insertBack(readInt); } counter++; } return in; } void DLLIntStorage::insertion(int inValue) { node* temp; temp = this->front; if(temp->value >= inValue) { insertFront(inValue); return; } else { while(temp->next!=NULL && temp!=this->back) { if(temp->value >= inValue) { insertBefore(inValue, temp); return; } temp = temp->next; } } if(temp == this->back) { insertBack(inValue); } } Thankyou for your time.

  • [NSCustomView isOpaque]: message sent to deallocated instance 0x123456

    - by JxXx
    Hi all I receive that message in debugger console since I added the following arguments for debugging my application with XCode. NSZombieEnabled: YES NSZombieLevel: 16 I was looking for zombie objects... Before doing so, the application failed before I could know where what and why was happening.... Now I´m pretty sure that 'something' outside code is trying to access an object previously released and I can't know where or why it happens neither where it was released... My application is based on this proof of concept (very interesting and colorful) of QuartzCore Framework: http://www.cimgf.com/2008/03/03/core-animation-tutorial-wizard-dialog-with-transitions/ Based on it, I added a few more nsviews to my project and a title and an index to each one, also I added some buttons, text and images depending on what 'dialog' (ACLinkedView object) it was... The transition from an ACLinkedView object to another is going through a validation that depends on the view where you are ... As you see I used this proof of concept as the foundation of my application and it grew and grew into an application that makes use of configuration files, web services (using gSOAP and C ...) I hope you can give me some clues to where is my error ... I´ve been the hole week debugging unsuccessfully, as I said before, I think that that message comes from a point outside my code. I'd say that the problem s related with bad memory allocation or automatisms (nearly completely unknowns for me) during loading the nib components... I will try to explain all this with parts of mycode. This is my ACLinkedView definition: #import <Cocoa/Cocoa.h> @interface ACLinkedView : NSView { // The Window (to close it if needed) IBOutlet NSWindow *mainWindow; // Linked Views IBOutlet ACLinkedView *previousView; IBOutlet ACLinkedView *nextView; // Buttons IBOutlet NSButton *previousButton; IBOutlet NSButton *nextButton; IBOutlet NSButton *helpButton; //It has to be a Button!! IBOutlet NSImageView *bannerImg; NSString *sName; int iPosition; } - (void) SetName: (NSString*) Name; - (void) SetPosition: (int) Position; - (NSString*) GetName; - (int) GetPosition; - (void) windowWillClose:(NSNotification*)aNotification; @property (retain) NSWindow *mainWindow; @property (retain) ACLinkedView *previousView, *nextView; @property (retain) NSButton *previousButton, *nextButton, *helpButton; @property (retain) NSImageView *bannerImg; @property (retain) NSString *sName; @end The ACLinkedView's AwakeFromNib is this: #import <Cocoa/Cocoa.h> @interface ACLinkedView : NSView { // The Window (to close it if needed) IBOutlet NSWindow *mainWindow; // Linked Views IBOutlet ACLinkedView *previousView; IBOutlet ACLinkedView *nextView; // Buttons IBOutlet NSButton *previousButton; IBOutlet NSButton *nextButton; IBOutlet NSButton *helpButton; //It has to be a Button!! IBOutlet NSImageView *bannerImg; NSString *sName; int iPosition; } - (void) SetName: (NSString*) Name; - (void) SetPosition: (int) Position; - (NSString*) GetName; - (int) GetPosition; - (void) windowWillClose:(NSNotification*)aNotification; @property (retain) NSWindow *mainWindow; @property (retain) ACLinkedView *previousView, *nextView; @property (retain) NSButton *previousButton, *nextButton, *helpButton; @property (retain) NSImageView *bannerImg; @property (retain) NSString *sName; @end (As you can see the initialization of each ACLinkedView object depends on it's position wich is seted up into the Interface Builder by linking actions, buttons and CustomViews... Does I explain enough? Do you think that I should put more of my code here, i.e. AppDelegate definition or it´s awakeFromNib method? Can you help me in any way? Thanks in advance. Juan

  • c - dereferencing issue

    - by Joe
    Hi, I have simplified an issue that I've been having trying to isolate the problem, but it is not helping. I have a 2 dimensional char array to represent memory. I want to pass a reference to that simulation of memory to a function. In the function to test the contents of the memory I just want to iterate through the memory and print out the contents on each row. The program prints out the first row and then I get seg fault. My program is as follows: #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <ctype.h> #include <string.h> void test_memory(char*** memory_ref) { int i; for(i = 0; i < 3; i++) { printf("%s\n", *memory_ref[i]); } } int main() { char** memory; int i; memory = calloc(sizeof(char*), 20); for(i = 0; i < 20; i++) { memory[i] = calloc(sizeof(char), 33); } memory[0] = "Mem 0"; memory[1] = "Mem 1"; memory[2] = "Mem 2"; printf("memory[1] = %s\n", memory[1]); test_memory(&memory); return 0; } This gives me the output: memory[1] = Mem 1 Mem 0 Segmentation fault If I change the program and create a local version of the memory in the function by dereferencing the memory_ref, then I get the right output: So: #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <ctype.h> #include <string.h> void test_memory(char*** memory_ref) { char** memory = *memory_ref; int i; for(i = 0; i < 3; i++) { printf("%s\n", memory[i]); } } int main() { char** memory; int i; memory = calloc(sizeof(char*), 20); for(i = 0; i < 20; i++) { memory[i] = calloc(sizeof(char), 33); } memory[0] = "Mem 0"; memory[1] = "Mem 1"; memory[2] = "Mem 2"; printf("memory[1] = %s\n", memory[1]); test_memory(&memory); return 0; } gives me the following output: memory[1] = Mem 1 Mem 0 Mem 1 Mem 2 which is what I want, but making a local version of the memory is useless because I need to be able to change the values of the original memory from the function which I can only do by dereferencing the pointer to the original 2d char array. I don't understand why I should get a seg fault on the second time round, and I'd be grateful for any advice. Many thanks Joe

  • NHibernate Proxy Creation

    - by Chris Meek
    I have a class structure like the following class Container { public virtual int Id { get; set; } public IList<Base> Bases { get; set; } } class Base { public virtual int Id { get; set; } public virtual string Name { get; set; } } class EnemyBase : Base { public virtual int EstimatedSize { get; set; } } class FriendlyBase : Base { public virtual int ActualSize { get; set; } } Now when I ask the session for a particular Container it normally gives me the concrete EnemyBase and FriendlyBase objects in the Bases collection. I can then (if I so choose) cast them to their concrete types and do something specific with them. However, sometime I get a proxy of the "Base" class which is not castable to the concrete types. The same method is used both times with the only exception being that in the case that I get proxies I have added some related entities to the session (think the friendly base having a collection of people or something like that). Is there any way I can prevent it from doing the proxy creating and why would it choose to do this in some scenarios? UPDATE The mappings are generated with the automap feature of fluentnhibernate but look something like this when exported <hibernate-mapping xmlns="urn:nhibernate-mapping-2.2" default-access="property" auto-import="true" default-cascade="none" default-lazy="true"> <class xmlns="urn:nhibernate-mapping-2.2" mutable="true" name="Base" table="`Base`"> <id name="Id" type="System.Int32, mscorlib, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089"> <column name="Id" /> <generator class="MyIdGenerator" /> </id> <property name="Name" type="String"> <column name="Name" /> </property> <joined-subclass name="EnemyBase"> <key> <column name="Id" /> </key> <property name="EstimatedSize" type="Int"> <column name="EstimatedSize" /> </property> </joined-subclass> <joined-subclass name="FriendlyBase"> <key> <column name="Id" /> </key> <property name="ActualSize" type="Int"> <column name="ActualSize" /> </property> </joined-subclass> </class> </hibernate-mapping> <hibernate-mapping xmlns="urn:nhibernate-mapping-2.2" default-access="property" auto-import="true" default-cascade="none" default-lazy="true"> <class xmlns="urn:nhibernate-mapping-2.2" mutable="true" name="Container" table="`Container`"> <id name="Id" type="System.Int32, mscorlib, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089"> <column name="Id" /> <generator class="MyIdGenerator" /> </id> <bag cascade="all-delete-orphan" inverse="true" lazy="false" name="Bases" mutable="true"> <key> <column name="ContainerId" /> </key> <one-to-many class="Base" /> </bag> </class> </hibernate-mapping>

  • JOptionPane opening another JFrame

    - by mike_hornbeck
    So I'm continuing my fight with this : http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2923545/creating-java-dialogs/2926126 task. Now my JOptionPane opens new window with envelope overfiew, but I can't change size of this window. Also I wanted to have sender's data in upper left corner, and receiver's data in bottom right. How can I achieve that ? There is also issue with OptionPane itself. After I click 'OK' it opens small window in the upper left corner of the screen. What is this and why it's appearing ? My code: import java.awt.*; import java.awt.Font; import javax.swing.*; public class Main extends JFrame { private static JTextField nameField = new JTextField(20); private static JTextField surnameField = new JTextField(); private static JTextField addr1Field = new JTextField(); private static JTextField addr2Field = new JTextField(); private static JComboBox sizes = new JComboBox(new String[] { "small", "medium", "large", "extra-large" }); public Main(){ JPanel mainPanel = new JPanel(); mainPanel.setLayout(new BoxLayout(mainPanel, BoxLayout.Y_AXIS)); getContentPane().add(mainPanel); JPanel addrPanel = new JPanel(new GridLayout(0, 1)); addrPanel.setBorder(BorderFactory.createTitledBorder("Receiver")); addrPanel.add(new JLabel("Name")); addrPanel.add(nameField); addrPanel.add(new JLabel("Surname")); addrPanel.add(surnameField); addrPanel.add(new JLabel("Address 1")); addrPanel.add(addr1Field); addrPanel.add(new JLabel("Address 2")); addrPanel.add(addr2Field); mainPanel.add(addrPanel); mainPanel.add(new JLabel(" ")); mainPanel.add(sizes); String[] buttons = { "OK", "Cancel"}; int c = JOptionPane.showOptionDialog( null, mainPanel, "My Panel", JOptionPane.DEFAULT_OPTION, JOptionPane.PLAIN_MESSAGE, null, buttons, buttons[0] ); if(c ==0){ new Envelope(nameField.getText(), surnameField.getText(), addr1Field.getText() , addr2Field.getText(), sizes.getSelectedIndex()); } setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); pack(); setVisible(true); } public static void main(String[] args) { new Main(); } } class Envelope extends JFrame { private final int SMALL=0; private final int MEDIUM=1; private final int LARGE=2; private final int XLARGE=3; public Envelope(String n, String s, String a1, String a2, int i){ Container content = getContentPane(); JPanel mainPanel = new JPanel(); mainPanel.setLayout(new BoxLayout(mainPanel, BoxLayout.Y_AXIS)); mainPanel.add(new JLabel("John Doe")); mainPanel.add(new JLabel("FooBar str 14")); mainPanel.add(new JLabel("Newark, 45-99")); JPanel dataPanel = new JPanel(); dataPanel.setFont(new Font("sansserif", Font.PLAIN, 32)); //set size from i mainPanel.setLayout(new BoxLayout(mainPanel, BoxLayout.Y_AXIS)); mainPanel.setBackground(Color.ORANGE); mainPanel.add(new JLabel("Mr "+n+" "+s)); mainPanel.add(new JLabel(a1)); mainPanel.add(new JLabel(a2)); content.setSize(450, 600); content.setBackground(Color.ORANGE); content.add(mainPanel, BorderLayout.NORTH); content.add(dataPanel, BorderLayout.SOUTH); setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); pack(); setVisible(true); } }

  • C++, using stack.h read a string, then display it in reverse

    - by user1675108
    For my current assignment, I have to use the following header file, #ifndef STACK_H #define STACK_H template <class T, int n> class STACK { private: T a[n]; int counter; public: void MakeStack() { counter = 0; } bool FullStack() { return (counter == n) ? true : false ; } bool EmptyStack() { return (counter == 0) ? true : false ; } void PushStack(T x) { a[counter] = x; counter++; } T PopStack() { counter--; return a[counter]; } }; #endif To write a program that will take a sentence, store it into the "stack", and then display it in reverse, and I have to allow the user to repeat this process as much as they want. The thing is, I am NOT allowed to use arrays (otherwise I wouldn't need help with this), and am finding myself stumped. To give an idea of what I am attempting, here is my code as of posting, which obviously does not work fully but is simply meant to give an idea of the assignment. #include <iostream> #include <cstring> #include <ctime> #include "STACK.h" using namespace std; int main(void) { auto time_t a; auto STACK<char, 256> s; auto string curStr; auto int i; // Displays the current time and date time(&a); cout << "Today is " << ctime(&a) << endl; s.MakeStack(); cin >> curStr; i = 0; do { s.PushStack(curStr[i]); i++; } while (s.FullStack() == false); do { cout << s.PopStack(); } while (s.EmptyStack() == false); return 0; } // end of "main" **UPDATE This is my code currently #include <iostream> #include <string> #include <ctime> #include "STACK.h" using namespace std; time_t a; STACK<char, 256> s; string curStr; int i; int n; // Displays the current time and date time(&a); cout << "Today is " << ctime(&a) << endl; s.MakeStack(); getline(cin, curStr); i = 0; n = curStr.size(); do { s.PushStack(curStr[i++]); i++; }while(i < n); do { cout << s.PopStack(); }while( !(s.EmptyStack()) ); return 0;

  • Need help with a possible memory management problem(leak) regarding NSMutableArray

    - by user309030
    Hi, I'm a beginner level programmer trying to make a game app for the iphone and I've encountered a possible issue with the memory management (exc_bad_access) of my program so far. I've searched and read dozens of articles regarding memory management (including apple's docs) but I still can't figure out what exactly is wrong with my codes. So I would really appreciate it if someone can help clear up the mess I made for myself. - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; self.gameState = gameStatePaused; fencePoleArray = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; fencePoleImageArray = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; fenceImageArray = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; mainField = CGRectMake(10, 35, 310, 340); .......... [NSTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval:0.05 target:self selector:@selector(gameLoop) userInfo:nil repeats:YES]; } So basically, the player touches the screen to set up the fences/poles -(void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { if(.......) { ....... } else { UITouch *touch = [[event allTouches] anyObject]; currentTapLoc = [touch locationInView:touch.view]; NSLog(@"%i, %i", (int)currentTapLoc.x, (int)currentTapLoc.y); if(CGRectContainsPoint(mainField, currentTapLoc)) { if([self checkFence]) { onFencePole++; //this 3 set functions adds their respective objects into the 3 NSMutableArrays using addObject: [self setFencePole]; [self setFenceImage]; [self setFencePoleImage]; ....... } } else { ....... } } } } The setFence function (setFenceImage and setFencePoleImage is similar to this) -(void)setFencePole { Fence *fencePole; if (!elecFence) { fencePole = [[Fence alloc] initFence:onFencePole fenceType:1 fencePos:currentTapLoc]; } else { fencePole = [[Fence alloc] initFence:onFencePole fenceType:2 fencePos:currentTapLoc]; } [fencePoleArray addObject:fencePole]; [fencePole release]; and whenever I press a button in the game, endOpenState is called to clear away all the extra images(fence/poles) on the screen and also to remove all existing objects in the 3 NSMutableArray -(void)endOpenState { ........ int xMax = [fencePoleArray count]; int yMax = [fenceImageArray count]; for (int x = 0; x < xMax; x++) { [[fencePoleImageArray objectAtIndex:x] removeFromSuperview]; } for (int y = 0; y < yMax; y++) { [[fenceImageArray objectAtIndex:y] removeFromSuperview]; } [fencePoleArray removeAllObjects]; [fencePoleImageArray removeAllObjects]; [fenceImageArray removeAllObjects]; ........ } The crash happens here at the checkFence function. -(BOOL)checkFence { if (onFencePole == 0) { return YES; } else if (onFencePole >= 1 && onFencePole < currentMaxFencePole - 1) { CGPoint tempPoint1 = currentTapLoc; CGPoint tempPoint2 = [[fencePoleArray objectAtIndex:onFencePole-1] returnPos]; // the crash happens at this line if ([self checkDistance:tempPoint1 point2:tempPoint2]) { return YES; } else { return NO; } } else if (onFencePole == currentMaxFencePole - 1) { ...... } else { return NO; } } What I'm thinking of is that fencePoleArray got messed up when I used [fencePoleArray removeAllObjects] because it doesn't crash when I comment it out. It would really be great if someone can explain to me what went wrong. And thanks in advance.

  • Is it a missing implementation with JPA implementation of hibernate??

    - by Jegan
    Hi all, On my way in understanding the transaction-type attribute of persistence.xml, i came across an issue / discrepency between hibernate-core and JPA-hibernate which looks weird. I am not pretty sure whether it is a missing implementation with JPA of hibernate. Let me post the comparison between the outcome of JPA implementation and the hibernate implementation of the same concept. Environment Eclipse 3.5.1 JSE v1.6.0_05 Hibernate v3.2.3 [for hibernate core] Hibernate-EntityManger v3.4.0 [for JPA] MySQL DB v5.0 Issue 1.Hibernate core package com.expt.hibernate.core; import java.io.Serializable; public final class Student implements Serializable { private int studId; private String studName; private String studEmailId; public Student(final String studName, final String studEmailId) { this.studName = studName; this.studEmailId = studEmailId; } public int getStudId() { return this.studId; } public String getStudName() { return this.studName; } public String getStudEmailId() { return this.studEmailId; } private void setStudId(int studId) { this.studId = studId; } private void setStudName(String studName) { this.studName = stuName; } private void setStudEmailId(int studEmailId) { this.studEmailId = studEmailId; } } 2. JPA implementaion of Hibernate package com.expt.hibernate.jpa; import java.io.Serializable; import javax.persistence.Column; import javax.persistence.Entity; import javax.persistence.GeneratedValue; import javax.persistence.Id; import javax.persistence.Table; @Entity @Table(name = "Student_Info") public final class Student implements Serializable { @Id @GeneratedValue @Column(name = "STUD_ID", length = 5) private int studId; @Column(name = "STUD_NAME", nullable = false, length = 25) private String studName; @Column(name = "STUD_EMAIL", nullable = true, length = 30) private String studEmailId; public Student(final String studName, final String studEmailId) { this.studName = studName; this.studEmailId = studEmailId; } public int getStudId() { return this.studId; } public String getStudName() { return this.studName; } public String getStudEmailId() { return this.studEmailId; } } Also, I have provided the DB configuration properties in the associated hibernate-cfg.xml [in case of hibernate core] and persistence.xml [in case of JPA (hibernate entity manager)]. create a driver and perform add a student and query for the list of students and print their details. Then the issue comes when you run the driver program. Hibernate core - output Exception in thread "main" org.hibernate.InstantiationException: No default constructor for entity: com.expt.hibernate.core.Student at org.hibernate.tuple.PojoInstantiator.instantiate(PojoInstantiator.java:84) at org.hibernate.tuple.PojoInstantiator.instantiate(PojoInstantiator.java:100) at org.hibernate.tuple.entity.AbstractEntityTuplizer.instantiate(AbstractEntityTuplizer.java:351) at org.hibernate.persister.entity.AbstractEntityPersister.instantiate(AbstractEntityPersister.java:3604) .... .... • Hibernate many-to-many mapping not saved in pivot table

    - by vincent
    I having problems saving many to many relationships to a pivot table. The way the pojos are created is unfortunately a pretty long process which spans over a couple of different threads which work on the (to this point un-saved) object until it is finally persisted. I associate the related objects to one another right after they are created and when debugging I can see the List of related object populated with their respective objects. So basically all is fine to this point. When I persist the object everything get saved except the relations in the pivot table. mapping files: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE hibernate-mapping PUBLIC "-//Hibernate/Hibernate Mapping DTD 3.0//EN" "http://hibernate.sourceforge.net/hibernate-mapping-3.0.dtd"> <hibernate-mapping package="com.thebeansgroup.jwinston.plugin.orm.hibernate.object"> <class name="ShowObject" table="show_object"> <id name="id"> <generator class="native" /> </id> <property name="name" /> <set cascade="all" inverse="true" name="venues" table="venue_show"> <key column="show_id"/> <many-to-many class="VenueObject"/> </set> </class> </hibernate-mapping> and the other <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE hibernate-mapping PUBLIC "-//Hibernate/Hibernate Mapping DTD 3.0//EN" "http://hibernate.sourceforge.net/hibernate-mapping-3.0.dtd"> <hibernate-mapping package="com.thebeansgroup.jwinston.plugin.orm.hibernate.object"> <class name="VenueObject" table="venue_object"> <id name="id"> <generator class="native"/> </id> <property name="name"/> <property name="latitude" type="integer"/> <property name="longitude" type="integer"/> <set cascade="all" inverse="true" name="shows" table="venue_show"> <key column="venue_id"/> <many-to-many class="ShowObject"/> </set> </class> </hibernate-mapping> pojos: public class ShowObject extends OrmObject { private Long id; private String name; private Set venues; public ShowObject() { } public Long getId() { return id; } public void setId(Long id) { this.id = id; } public String getName() { return name; } public void setName(String name) { this.name = name; } public Set getVenues() { return venues; } public void setVenues(Set venues) { this.venues = venues; } } and the other: public class VenueObject extends OrmObject { private Long id; private String name; private int latitude; private int longitude; private Set shows = new HashSet(); public VenueObject() { } @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.AUTO) public Long getId() { return id; } public void setId(Long id) { this.id = id; } public int getLatitude() { return latitude; } public void setLatitude(int latitude) { this.latitude = latitude; } public int getLongitude() { return longitude; } public void setLongitude(int longitude) { this.longitude = longitude; } public String getName() { return name; } public void setName(String name) { this.name = name; } public Set getShows() { return shows; } public void setShows(Set shows) { this.shows = shows; } } Might the problem be related to the lack of annotations?

    A glance at the source code for string.GetHashCode using Reflector reveals the following (for mscorlib.dll version 4.0): public override unsafe int GetHashCode() { fixed (char* str = ((char*) this)) { char* chPtr = str; int num = 0x15051505; int num2 = num; int* numPtr = (int*) chPtr; for (int i = this.Length; i > 0; i -= 4) { num = (((num << 5) + num) + (num >> 0x1b)) ^ numPtr[0]; if (i <= 2) { break; } num2 = (((num2 << 5) + num2) + (num2 >> 0x1b)) ^ numPtr[1]; numPtr += 2; } return (num + (num2 * 0x5d588b65)); } } Now, I realize that the implementation of GetHashCode is not specified and is implementation-dependent, so the question "is GetHashCode implemented in the form of X or Y?" is not really answerable. I'm just curious about a few things: If Reflector has disassembled the DLL correctly and this is the implementation of GetHashCode (in my environment), am I correct in interpreting this code to indicate that a string object, based on this particular implementation, would not cache its hash code? Assuming the answer is yes, why would this be? It seems to me that the memory cost would be minimal (one more 32-bit integer, a drop in the pond compared to the size of the string itself) whereas the savings would be significant, especially in cases where, e.g., strings are used as keys in a hashtable-based collection like a Dictionary<string, [...]>. And since the string class is immutable, it isn't like the value returned by GetHashCode will ever even change. What could I be missing? UPDATE: In response to Andras Zoltan's closing remark: There's also the point made in Tim's answer(+1 there). If he's right, and I think he is, then there's no guarantee that a string is actually immutable after construction, therefore to cache the result would be wrong. Whoa, whoa there! This is an interesting point to make (and yes it's very true), but I really doubt that this was taken into consideration in the implementation of GetHashCode. The statement "therefore to cache the result would be wrong" implies to me that the framework's attitude regarding strings is "Well, they're supposed to be immutable, but really if developers want to get sneaky they're mutable so we'll treat them as such." This is definitely not how the framework views strings. It fully relies on their immutability in so many ways (interning of string literals, assignment of all zero-length strings to string.Empty, etc.) that, basically, if you mutate a string, you're writing code whose behavior is entirely undefined and unpredictable. I guess my point is that for the author(s) of this implementation to worry, "What if this string instance is modified between calls, even though the class as it is publicly exposed is immutable?" would be like for someone planning a casual outdoor BBQ to think to him-/herself, "What if someone brings an atomic bomb to the party?" Look, if someone brings an atom bomb, party's over.

  • Counting leaf nodes in hierarchical tree

    - by timn
    This code fills a tree with values based their depths. But when traversing the tree, I cannot manage to determine the actual number of children. node-cnt is always 0. I've already tried node-parent-cnt but that gives me lots of warnings in Valgrind. Anyway, is the tree type I've chosen even appropriate for my purpose? #include <string.h> #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #ifndef NULL #define NULL ((void *) 0) #endif // ---- typedef struct _Tree_Node { // data ptr void *p; // number of nodes int cnt; struct _Tree_Node *nodes; // parent nodes struct _Tree_Node *parent; } Tree_Node; typedef struct { Tree_Node root; } Tree; void Tree_Init(Tree *this) { this->root.p = NULL; this->root.cnt = 0; this->root.nodes = NULL; this->root.parent = NULL; } Tree_Node* Tree_AddNode(Tree_Node *node) { if (node->cnt == 0) { node->nodes = malloc(sizeof(Tree_Node)); } else { node->nodes = realloc( node->nodes, (node->cnt + 1) * sizeof(Tree_Node) ); } Tree_Node *res = &node->nodes[node->cnt]; res->p = NULL; res->cnt = 0; res->nodes = NULL; res->parent = node; node->cnt++; return res; } // ---- void handleNode(Tree_Node *node, int depth) { int j = depth; printf("\n"); while (j--) { printf(" "); } printf("depth=%d ", depth); if (node->p == NULL) { goto out; } printf("value=%s cnt=%d", node->p, node->cnt); out: for (int i = 0; i < node->cnt; i++) { handleNode(&node->nodes[i], depth + 1); } } Tree tree; int curdepth; Tree_Node *curnode; void add(int depth, char *s) { printf("%s: depth (%d) > curdepth (%d): %d\n", s, depth, curdepth, depth > curdepth); if (depth > curdepth) { curnode = Tree_AddNode(curnode); Tree_Node *node = Tree_AddNode(curnode); node->p = malloc(strlen(s)); memcpy(node->p, s, strlen(s)); curdepth++; } else { while (curdepth - depth > 0) { if (curnode->parent == NULL) { printf("Illegal nesting\n"); return; } curnode = curnode->parent; curdepth--; } Tree_Node *node = Tree_AddNode(curnode); node->p = malloc(strlen(s)); memcpy(node->p, s, strlen(s)); } } void main(void) { Tree_Init(&tree); curnode = &tree.root; curdepth = 0; add(0, "1"); add(1, "1.1"); add(2, "1.1.1"); add(3, "1.1.1.1"); add(4, "1.1.1.1.1"); add(2, "1.1.2"); add(0, "2"); handleNode(&tree.root, 0); }

    While attempting to move from a 'C' based SSL implementation to C# using the .NET SslStream and we have run into what look like cipher compatibility issues with the .NET SslStream and a AS400 machine we are trying to connect to (which worked previously). When we call SslStream.AuthenticateAsClient it is sending the following: 16 03 00 00 37 01 00 00 33 03 00 4d 2c 00 ee 99 4e 0c 5d 83 14 77 78 5c 0f d3 8f 8b d5 e6 b8 cd 61 0f 29 08 ab 75 03 f7 fa 7d 70 00 00 0c 00 05 00 0a 00 13 00 04 00 02 00 ff 01 00 Which decodes as (based on http://www.mozilla.org/projects/security/pki/nss/ssl/draft302.txt) [16] Record Type [03 00] SSL Version [00 37] Body length [01] SSL3_MT_CLIENT_HELLO [00 00 33] Length (51 bytes) [03 00] Version number = 768 [4d 2c 00 ee] 4 Bytes unix time [… ] 28 Bytes random number [00] Session number [00 0c] 12 bytes (2 * 6 Cyphers)?   • NullPointerException using EndlessAdapter with SimpleAdapter

    - by android_dev
    Hello, I am using EndlessAdapter from commonsguy with a SimpleAdapter. I can load data when I make a scroll down without problems, but I have a NullPointerException when I make a scroll up. The problem is in the method @Override public View getView(int position, View convertView,ViewGroup parent) { return wrapped.getView(position, convertView, parent); } from the class AdapterWrapper. The call to wrapped.getView(position, convertView,parent) raises the exception and I don´t know why. This is my implementation of EndlessAdapter: //Inner class in SearchTextActivity class DemoAdapter extends EndlessAdapter { private RotateAnimation rotate = null; DemoAdapter(ArrayList<HashMap<String, String>> result) { super(new SimpleAdapter(SearchTracksActivity.this, result, R.layout.textlist_item, PROJECTION_COLUMNS, VIEW_MAPPINGS)); rotate = new RotateAnimation( 0f, 360f, Animation.RELATIVE_TO_SELF, 0.5f, Animation.RELATIVE_TO_SELF, 0.5f); rotate.setDuration(600); rotate.setRepeatMode(Animation.RESTART); rotate.setRepeatCount(Animation.INFINITE); } @Override protected View getPendingView(ViewGroup parent) { View row=getLayoutInflater().inflate(R.layout.textlist_item, null); View child=row.findViewById(R.id.title); child.setVisibility(View.GONE); child=row.findViewById(R.id.username); child.setVisibility(View.GONE); child=row.findViewById(R.id.throbber); child.setVisibility(View.VISIBLE); child.startAnimation(rotate); return row; } @Override @SuppressWarnings("unchecked") protected void rebindPendingView(int position, View row) { HashMap<String, String> res = (HashMap<String, String>)getWrappedAdapter().getItem(position); View child=row.findViewById(R.id.title); ((TextView)child).setText(res.get("title")); child.setVisibility(View.VISIBLE); child=row.findViewById(R.id.username); ((TextView)child).setText(res.get("username")); child.setVisibility(View.VISIBLE); ImageView throbber=(ImageView)row.findViewById(R.id.throbber); throbber.setVisibility(View.GONE); throbber.clearAnimation(); } boolean mFinal = true; @Override protected boolean cacheInBackground() { EditText searchText = (EditText)findViewById(R.id.searchText); String textToSearch = searchText.getText().toString(); Util.getSc().searchText(textToSearch , offset, limit, new ResultListener<ArrayList<Text>>() { @Override public void onError(Exception e) { e.toString(); mFinal = false; } @Override public void onSuccess(ArrayList<Text> result) { if(result.size() == 0){ mFinal = false; }else{ texts.addAll(result); offset++; } } }); return mFinal; } @Override protected void appendCachedData() { for(Text text : texts){ result.add(text.getMapValues()); } texts.clear(); } } And I use it this way: public class SearchTextActivity extends AbstractListActivity { private static final String[] PROJECTION_COLUMNS = new String[] { TextStore.Text.TITLE, TextStore.Text.USER_NAME}; private static final int[] VIEW_MAPPINGS = new int[] { R.id.Text_title, R.id.Text_username}; ArrayList<HashMap<String, String>> result; static ArrayList<Text> texts; static int offset = 0; static int limit = 1; @Override void onAbstractCreate(Bundle savedInstance) { setContentView(R.layout.search_tracks); setupViews(); } private void setupViews() { ImageButton searchButton = (ImageButton)findViewById(R.id.searchButton); updateView(); } SimpleAdapter adapter; void updateView(){ if(result == null) { result = new ArrayList<HashMap<String, String>>(); } if(tracks == null) { texts = new ArrayList<Text>(); } } public void sendQuery(View v){ offset = 0; texts.clear(); result.clear(); setListAdapter(new DemoAdapter(result)); } } Does anybody knows what could be the problem? Thank you in advance

  • How to determine edges in an images optimally?

    - by SorinA.
    I recently was put in front of the problem of cropping and resizing images. I needed to crop the 'main content' of an image for example if i had an image similar to this: the result should be an image with the msn content without the white margins(left& right). I search on the X axis for the first and last color change and on the Y axis the same thing. The problem is that traversing the image line by line takes a while..for an image that is 2000x1600px it takes up to 2 seconds to return the CropRect = x1,y1,x2,y2 data. I tried to make for each coordinate a traversal and stop on the first value found but it didn't work in all test cases..sometimes the returned data wasn't the expected one and the duration of the operations was similar.. Any idea how to cut down the traversal time and discovery of the rectangle round the 'main content'? public static CropRect EdgeDetection(Bitmap Image, float Threshold) { CropRect cropRectangle = new CropRect(); int lowestX = 0; int lowestY = 0; int largestX = 0; int largestY = 0; lowestX = Image.Width; lowestY = Image.Height; //find the lowest X bound; for (int y = 0; y < Image.Height - 1; ++y) { for (int x = 0; x < Image.Width - 1; ++x) { Color currentColor = Image.GetPixel(x, y); Color tempXcolor = Image.GetPixel(x + 1, y); Color tempYColor = Image.GetPixel(x, y + 1); if ((Math.Sqrt(((currentColor.R - tempXcolor.R) * (currentColor.R - tempXcolor.R)) + ((currentColor.G - tempXcolor.G) * (currentColor.G - tempXcolor.G)) + ((currentColor.B - tempXcolor.B) * (currentColor.B - tempXcolor.B))) > Threshold)) { if (lowestX > x) lowestX = x; if (largestX < x) largestX = x; } if ((Math.Sqrt(((currentColor.R - tempYColor.R) * (currentColor.R - tempYColor.R)) + ((currentColor.G - tempYColor.G) * (currentColor.G - tempYColor.G)) + ((currentColor.B - tempYColor.B) * (currentColor.B - tempYColor.B))) > Threshold)) { if (lowestY > y) lowestY = y; if (largestY < y) largestY = y; } } } if (lowestX < Image.Width / 4) cropRectangle.X = lowestX - 3 > 0 ? lowestX - 3 : 0; else cropRectangle.X = 0; if (lowestY < Image.Height / 4) cropRectangle.Y = lowestY - 3 > 0 ? lowestY - 3 : 0; else cropRectangle.Y = 0; cropRectangle.Width = largestX - lowestX + 8 > Image.Width ? Image.Width : largestX - lowestX + 8; cropRectangle.Height = largestY + 8 > Image.Height ? Image.Height - lowestY : largestY - lowestY + 8; return cropRectangle; } }

  • Recursively created linked lists with a class, C++

    - by Jon Brant
    I'm using C++ to recursively make a hexagonal grid (using a multiply linked list style). I've got it set up to create neighboring tiles easily, but because I'm doing it recursively, I can only really create all 6 neighbors for a given tile. Obviously, this is causing duplicate tiles to be created and I'm trying to get rid of them in some way. Because I'm using a class, checking for null pointers doesn't seem to work. It's either failing to convert from my Tile class to and int, or somehow converting it but not doing it properly. I'm explicitly setting all pointers to NULL upon creation, and when I check to see if it still is, it says it's not even though I never touched it since initialization. Is there a specific way I'm supposed to do this? I can't even traverse the grid without NULLs of some kind Here's some of my relevant code. Yes, I know it's embarassing. Tile class header: class Tile { public: Tile(void); Tile(char *Filename); ~Tile(void); void show(void); bool LoadGLTextures(); void makeDisplayList(); void BindTexture(); void setFilename(char *newName); char Filename[100]; GLuint texture[2]; GLuint displayList; Tile *neighbor[6]; float xPos, yPos,zPos; };` Tile Initialization: Tile::Tile(void) { xPos=0.0f; yPos=0.0f; zPos=0.0f; glEnable(GL_DEPTH_TEST); strcpy(Filename, strcpy(Filename, "Data/BlueTile.bmp")); if(!BuildTexture(Filename, texture[0]))MessageBox(NULL,"Texture failed to load!","Crap!",MB_OK|MB_ICONASTERISK); for(int x=0;x<6;x++) { neighbor[x]=NULL; } } Creation of neighboring tiles: void MakeNeighbors(Tile *InputTile, int stacks) { for(int x=0;x<6;x++) { InputTile->neighbor[x]=new Tile();InputTile->neighbor[x]->xPos=0.0f;InputTile->neighbor[x]->yPos=0.0f;InputTile->zPos=float(stacks); } if(stacks) { for(int x=0;x<6;x++)MakeNeighbors(InputTile->neighbor[x],stacks-1); } } And finally, traversing the grid: void TraverseGrid(Tile *inputTile) { Tile *temp; for(int x=0;x<6;x++) if(inputTile->neighbor[x]) { temp=inputTile->neighbor[x]; temp->xPos=0.0f; TraverseGrid(temp); //MessageBox(NULL,"Not Null!","SHUTDOWN ERROR",MB_OK | MB_ICONINFORMATION); } } The key line is "if(inputTile-neighbor[x])" and whether I make it "if(inputTile-neighbor[x]==NULL)" or whatever I do, it just isn't handling it properly. Oh and I'm also aware that I haven't set up the list fully. It's only one direction now.

  • Better Way To Use C++ Named Parameter Idiom?

    - by Head Geek
    I've been developing a GUI library for Windows (as a personal side project, no aspirations of usefulness). For my main window class, I've set up a hierarchy of option classes (using the Named Parameter Idiom), because some options are shared and others are specific to particular types of windows (like dialogs). The way the Named Parameter Idiom works, the functions of the parameter class have to return the object they're called on. The problem is that, in the hierarchy, each one has to be a different class -- the createWindowOpts class for standard windows, the createDialogOpts class for dialogs, and the like. I've dealt with that by making all the option classes templates. Here's an example: template <class T> class _sharedWindowOpts: public detail::_baseCreateWindowOpts { public: /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// // No required parameters in this case. _sharedWindowOpts() { }; typedef T optType; // Commonly used options optType& at(int x, int y) { mX=x; mY=y; return static_cast<optType&>(*this); }; // Where to put the upper-left corner of the window; if not specified, the system sets it to a default position optType& at(int x, int y, int width, int height) { mX=x; mY=y; mWidth=width; mHeight=height; return static_cast<optType&>(*this); }; // Sets the position and size of the window in a single call optType& background(HBRUSH b) { mBackground=b; return static_cast<optType&>(*this); }; // Sets the default background to this brush optType& background(INT_PTR b) { mBackground=HBRUSH(b+1); return static_cast<optType&>(*this); }; // Sets the default background to one of the COLOR_* colors; defaults to COLOR_WINDOW optType& cursor(HCURSOR c) { mCursor=c; return static_cast<optType&>(*this); }; // Sets the default mouse cursor for this window; defaults to the standard arrow optType& hidden() { mStyle&=~WS_VISIBLE; return static_cast<optType&>(*this); }; // Windows are visible by default optType& icon(HICON iconLarge, HICON iconSmall=0) { mIcon=iconLarge; mSmallIcon=iconSmall; return static_cast<optType&>(*this); }; // Specifies the icon, and optionally a small icon // ...Many others removed... }; template <class T> class _createWindowOpts: public _sharedWindowOpts<T> { public: /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// _createWindowOpts() { }; // These can't be used with child windows, or aren't needed optType& menu(HMENU m) { mMenuOrId=m; return static_cast<optType&>(*this); }; // Gives the window a menu optType& owner(HWND hwnd) { mParentOrOwner=hwnd; return static_cast<optType&>(*this); }; // Sets the optional parent/owner }; class createWindowOpts: public _createWindowOpts<createWindowOpts> { public: /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// createWindowOpts() { }; }; It works, but as you can see, it requires a noticeable amount of extra work: a type-cast on the return type for each function, extra template classes, etcetera. My question is, is there an easier way to implement the Named Parameter Idiom in this case, one that doesn't require all the extra stuff?

  • Problem with large number of markers on the map...

    - by bobetko
    I am working on an Android app that already exists on iPhone. In the app, there is a Map activity that has (I counted) around 800 markers in four groups marked by drawable in four different colors. Each group can be turned on or off. Information about markers I have inside List. I create a mapOverlay for each group, then I attach that overlay to the map. I strongly believe that coding part I did properly. But I will attach my code anyway... The thing is, my Nexus One can't handle map with all those markers. It takes around 15 seconds just to draw 500 markers. Then when all drawn, map is not quite smooth. It is sort of hard to zoom and navigate around. It can be done, but experience is bad and I would like to see if something can be done there. iPhone seems doesn't have problems showing all these markers. It takes roughly about 1-2 seconds to show all of them and zooming and panning is not that bad. Slow down is noticeable but still acceptable. I personally think it is no good to draw all those markers, but app is designed by somebody else and I am not supposed to make any drastic changes. I am not sure what to do here. It seems I will have to come up with different functionality, maybe use GPS location, if known, and draw only markers within some radius, or, if location not known, use center of the screen(map) and draw markers around that. I will have to have reasonable explanation for my bosses in case I make these changes. I appreciate if anybody has any idas. And the code: ... for (int m = 0; m < ArrList.size(); m++) { tName = ArrList.get(m).get("name").toString(); tId = ArrList.get(m).get("id").toString(); tLat = ArrList.get(m).get("lat").toString();; tLng = ArrList.get(m).get("lng").toString();; try { lat = Double.parseDouble(tLat); lng = Double.parseDouble(tLng); p1 = new GeoPoint( (int) (lat * 1E6), (int) (lng * 1E6)); OverlayItem overlayitem = new OverlayItem(p1, tName, tId); itemizedoverlay.addOverlay(overlayitem); } catch (NumberFormatException e) { Log.d(TAG, "NumberFormatException" + e); } } mapOverlays.add(itemizedoverlay); mapView.postInvalidate(); ................................ public class HelloItemizedOverlay extends ItemizedOverlay<OverlayItem> { private ArrayList<OverlayItem> mOverlays = new ArrayList<OverlayItem>(); private Context mContext; public HelloItemizedOverlay(Drawable defaultMarker, Context context) { super(boundCenterBottom(defaultMarker)); mContext = context; } public void addOverlay(OverlayItem overlay) { mOverlays.add(overlay); populate(); } @Override protected OverlayItem createItem(int i) { return mOverlays.get(i); } @Override public int size() { return mOverlays.size(); } @Override protected boolean onTap(int index) { final OverlayItem item = mOverlays.get(index); ... EACH MARKER WILL HAVE ONCLICK EVENT THAT WILL PRODUCE CLICABLE ... BALOON WITH MARKER'S NAME. return true; } }

  • How to determine edges in an image optimally?

    - by SorinA.
    I recently was put in front of the problem of cropping and resizing images. I needed to crop the 'main content' of an image for example if i had an image similar to this: the result should be an image with the msn content without the white margins(left& right). I search on the X axis for the first and last color change and on the Y axis the same thing. The problem is that traversing the image line by line takes a while..for an image that is 2000x1600px it takes up to 2 seconds to return the CropRect = x1,y1,x2,y2 data. I tried to make for each coordinate a traversal and stop on the first value found but it didn't work in all test cases..sometimes the returned data wasn't the expected one and the duration of the operations was similar.. Any idea how to cut down the traversal time and discovery of the rectangle round the 'main content'? public static CropRect EdgeDetection(Bitmap Image, float Threshold) { CropRect cropRectangle = new CropRect(); int lowestX = 0; int lowestY = 0; int largestX = 0; int largestY = 0; lowestX = Image.Width; lowestY = Image.Height; //find the lowest X bound; for (int y = 0; y < Image.Height - 1; ++y) { for (int x = 0; x < Image.Width - 1; ++x) { Color currentColor = Image.GetPixel(x, y); Color tempXcolor = Image.GetPixel(x + 1, y); Color tempYColor = Image.GetPixel(x, y + 1); if ((Math.Sqrt(((currentColor.R - tempXcolor.R) * (currentColor.R - tempXcolor.R)) + ((currentColor.G - tempXcolor.G) * (currentColor.G - tempXcolor.G)) + ((currentColor.B - tempXcolor.B) * (currentColor.B - tempXcolor.B))) > Threshold)) { if (lowestX > x) lowestX = x; if (largestX < x) largestX = x; } if ((Math.Sqrt(((currentColor.R - tempYColor.R) * (currentColor.R - tempYColor.R)) + ((currentColor.G - tempYColor.G) * (currentColor.G - tempYColor.G)) + ((currentColor.B - tempYColor.B) * (currentColor.B - tempYColor.B))) > Threshold)) { if (lowestY > y) lowestY = y; if (largestY < y) largestY = y; } } } if (lowestX < Image.Width / 4) cropRectangle.X = lowestX - 3 > 0 ? lowestX - 3 : 0; else cropRectangle.X = 0; if (lowestY < Image.Height / 4) cropRectangle.Y = lowestY - 3 > 0 ? lowestY - 3 : 0; else cropRectangle.Y = 0; cropRectangle.Width = largestX - lowestX + 8 > Image.Width ? Image.Width : largestX - lowestX + 8; cropRectangle.Height = largestY + 8 > Image.Height ? Image.Height - lowestY : largestY - lowestY + 8; return cropRectangle; } }

  • SqlDataAdapter Update is not working in C# wih Sql Server

    - by Ahmed
    I am trying to save data from C# form to Sql server Northwind Orders database, I am only using CustomerID, OrderDate and ShippedDate for data entry. Following is the code to Form load and save button: private void Form1_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { SetComb(); connectionString = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["connectionString"]; sqlConnection = new SqlConnection(connectionString); String sqlSelect = "Select OrderID, CustomerID, OrderDate, ShippedDate from Orders"; sqlDataMaster = new SqlDataAdapter(sqlSelect, sqlConnection); sqlConnection.Open(); //=============================================================================== //--- Set up the INSERT Command //=============================================================================== sInsProcName = "prInsert_Order"; insertcommand = new SqlCommand(sInsProcName, sqlConnection); insertcommand.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure; insertcommand.Parameters.Add(new SqlParameter("@nNewID", SqlDbType.Int, 0, ParameterDirection.Output, false, 0, 0, "OrderID", DataRowVersion.Default, null)); insertcommand.UpdatedRowSource = UpdateRowSource.OutputParameters; insertcommand.Parameters.Add(new SqlParameter("@sCustomerID", SqlDbType.NChar, 5,"CustomerID")); insertcommand.Parameters["@sCustomerID"].Value = cmbCust.SelectedValue; insertcommand.Parameters.Add(new SqlParameter("@dtOrderDate", SqlDbType.DateTime, 8,"OrderDate")); insertcommand.Parameters["@dtOrderDate"].Value = dtOrdDt.Text; insertcommand.Parameters.Add(new SqlParameter("@dtShipDate", SqlDbType.DateTime, 8,"ShippedDate")); insertcommand.Parameters["@dtShipDate"].Value = dtShipDt.Text; sqlDataMaster.InsertCommand = insertcommand; //=============================================================================== //--- Set up the UPDATE Command //=============================================================================== sUpdProcName = "prUpdate_Order"; updatecommand = new SqlCommand(sUpdProcName, sqlConnection); updatecommand.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure; updatecommand.Parameters.Add(new SqlParameter("@nOrderID", SqlDbType.Int, 4, "OrderID")); updatecommand.Parameters.Add(new SqlParameter("@dtOrderDate", SqlDbType.DateTime, 8, "OrderDate")); updatecommand.Parameters.Add(new SqlParameter("@dtShipDate", SqlDbType.DateTime, 8, "ShippedDate")); sqlDataMaster.UpdateCommand = updatecommand; //=============================================================================== //--- Set up the DELETE Command //=============================================================================== sDelProcName = "prDelete_Order"; deletecommand = new SqlCommand(sDelProcName, sqlConnection); deletecommand.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure; deletecommand.Parameters.Add(new SqlParameter("@nOrderID", SqlDbType.Int, 4, "OrderID")); sqlDataMaster.DeleteCommand = deletecommand; dt = new DataTable(); sqlDataMaster.FillSchema(dt, SchemaType.Source); ds = new DataSet(); ds.Tables.Add(dt); bs = new BindingSource(); bs.DataSource = ds.Tables[0]; } public void SetComb() { cmbCust.DataSource = dm.GetData("Select * from Customers order by CompanyName"); cmbCust.DisplayMember = "CompanyName"; cmbCust.ValueMember = "CustomerId"; cmbCust.Text = ""; } private void btnSave_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { sqlDataMaster.Update((DataTable) bs.DataSource); } and Stored Procedures for Insert/Update/Delete set ANSI_NULLS ON set QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON GO ALTER PROCEDURE [dbo].[prInsert_Order] -- ALTER PROCEDURE prInsert_Order @sCustomerID CHAR(5), @dtOrderDate DATETIME, @dtShipDate DATETIME, @nNewID INT OUTPUT AS SET NOCOUNT ON INSERT INTO Orders (CustomerID, OrderDate, ShippedDate) VALUES (@sCustomerID, @dtOrderDate, @dtShipDate) SELECT @nNewID = SCOPE_IDENTITY() set ANSI_NULLS ON set QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON GO ALTER PROCEDURE [dbo].[prUpdate_Order] -- ALTER PROCEDURE prUpdate_Order @nOrderID INT, @dtOrderDate DATETIME, @dtShipDate DATETIME AS UPDATE Orders SET OrderDate = @dtOrderDate, ShippedDate = @dtShipDate WHERE OrderID = @nOrderID set ANSI_NULLS ON set QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON GO ALTER PROCEDURE [dbo].[prDelete_Order] -- ALTER PROCEDURE prDelete_Order @nOrderID INT AS DELETE Orders WHERE OrderID = @nOrderID In the form CustomerID is selected via combobox which has Display property of CustomerName and Value property of CustomerID. But when clicking save button it shows no error, but it also don't save anything in Orders Table of Northwind....dm.GetData is the method of my Data Access Layer class to just get the info and populate CustomerID combobox. Any help with the code is highly appreciated... Thanks Ahmed
