  • jQuery calculation plugin: show total in form field rather than text

    - by Katherine
I'm embarrassed by the 'basicness' of this question, but after wasted hours, here goes. In an effort to do something with the jQuery Calculation plugin, I am playing with the basic example of the order form on the plugin site. I want to have the grand total as a form field, rather than text, so I can use the value. The function that calculates and shows the grand total is: function ($this){ // sum the total of the $("[id^=total_item]") selector var sum = $this.sum(); $("#grandTotal").text( // round the results to 2 digits sum.toFixed(2) ); } the total updates on keyup in: <span id="grandTotal"></span> But this does not work with: <input type="text" id="grandTotal" value=""/> Can anyone point me to what I need to add/change to make that work? To call my javascript basic would be a compliment, so please talk to me like I know nothing!

    - by Eagletrophy
hi guys, quick question. I have a tabbed interface for my site but I have all the parts of the site crashing into each other. How do I achieve a fluid layout where it simply resizes when the display is smaller. I read a few articles @ alistapart and made my containing div relative to the browser window and every other div within the d container relative and still nothing. any clues on what else I should be trying?

  • Google Maps & jQuery InfoWindow Replacement

    - by Denis Hoctor
Hi all, So I'm rewriting my first google maps app and I'm looking at how I create info windows on click of a marker and it seems very inefficent to be adding a listener for each. Previously I've used GInfoWindow and EBubble (http://econym.org.uk/gmap/ebubble.htm). I was thinking that I could use jQuery to show a div with dynamic data if I had a hook for each marker to show the window and relevant marker info (pulled from JSON). I can see each marker has a unique id (e.g. mtgt_unnamed_2822) but I'm not sure how to predicte this. Has anyone tried this before or know how to go about it? Thanks Denis

  • IE6 Hacks: Getting jQuery tools expose to work properly on my site

    - by Wild Thing
Hi, I am trying to get the jQuery tools 'expose' function to work properly in IE6. The page is http://204.51.246.10:12123/ You will need IE6 to reproduce the bug (obviously :)). If you click 'Sign In' on the top-right corner (below the 'Join Today!' button), you will notice that the sign in panel (fieldset#login-controls) is getting covered by the background of its parent element (.signinPanel), which is very weird. It is not on the top of z-index, and I can't figure out why. Please note that in order to get fieldset#login-controls positioned correctly, I have applied the following hack for IE6: $("#header, #header div, #header table, #header td, #header tr").css("position", "static"); $("fieldset#login-controls *").css("position", "static"); This might be the reason for the above. I am pretty lost at this point, as I can't figure what's going on - any advise would be appreciated. Cheers, Wild Thing

  • Selector and Iterating Through a Table Within a Div

    - by GregH
I have been working on this and cannot get this iterator to work. I have the following HTML and am trying to iterate through all rows (except the first row) and extract the values in cells (td) 2 and 3 : <div id="statsId"> <table width="220" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0"> <tbody> <tr> <td width="65"/> <td width="90"/> <td width="65"/> </tr> <tr style="font-weight: bold;"> <td align="left">$1.00</td> <td> <a href="#">UserID1</a> </td> <td>Single</td> </tr> <tr> <td align="left">$6.99</td> <td> <a href="#">UserID2</a> </td> <td>Multiple</td> </tr> <tr>... .....(snip) I tried the following iterator to iterate through all except the first row of the table that is a child of "div#statsID" and get the values of the 2nd and 3rd cells (in the example, the first extracted cells would have values of "UserID1" and "Single"), but it doesn't work. $('div#statsId > table tr:not(:nth-child(1))').each(function(i, ele) { var secondCol = $('td:nth-child(2)', ele).innerHTML var thirdCol= $('td:nth-child(3)', ele).text() ..... }); Any suggestions on how to specify and iterate through the rows (except the first) of a table that is a child of a div would be appreciated.

  • Is detecting scrollbar presence with jQuery still difficult?

    - by donpal
I know that detecting scrollbar presence is supposed to be one of those illusive things that we should all have to suffer through. What I've read so far is that you can't really detect scrollbar presence, only use hints in the DOM to know if they may be present, and it can't be done in less than 30 lines of code. This sounds a little impossible to me now that we're in 2010. Does jQuery have a cross-browser reliable solution that takes care of this and works at least most of the time? Any help please, I'm pulling my hair, half of it is already on the floor.

Another thought I got, is jTemplate the way to go?

  • Problem with animating the deletion of table rows in jQuery

    - by Victor
Hey guys, I have written some jQuery code to use the "slideUp" animation when deleting rows from a table. In order for the animation to appear smooth, I wrapped the contents of each TD in the row with DIV tags, and called the slideUp function on the DIVs, removing the actual TDs upon completion of the animation. The code for that is as follows: $("tr[id$=" + rowID + "]").children("td").each(function() { $(this).children("div").slideUp(function() { $(this).parent().remove(); }); }); So far, so good. However, I noticed that this code does not remove the actual TR, only its contents, so I added the following line to remove the TR: $("tr[id$=" + rowID + "]").remove(); The problem is that after I added the line above, the animation quit working. In other words, the row simply disappears without the nice sliding effect. Does anybody know why this is so and how to get around it? Thanks in advance for your insights! Victor

    - by bogumbiker
Hello, I am looking for a way to call successfully custom function from submitHandler to do proper ajax post. • jquery script removal

    - by VictorS
I am working on a page(ASP.NET 3.5) that has alert when "Save" button is pressed, i.e.this in page code behind: Page.ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript(this.GetType(), "alertMsg", "alert('" + Message + "');", true); So when I look at the page after sucessful save I see a script tag added: <script type="text/javascript"> //<![CDATA[ alert('Save Sucessful.'); </script> The problem is that there is another button that redirects to another page and on that page there is a button to jump back to this page, i.e. javascript:history.go(-1); So if you save then go to another page and come back you see alert again. Unless there is a better way of handling this situation, I think I need to remove that script when I redirect from the page, can I do it with jQuery, i.e. on redirect button click remove above script from the page?

  • Remove JQuery validationEngine from form

    - by psynnott
I am using Position Absolute's jQuery validationEngine but I need to remove it after attaching it to a form. I have 2 submit buttons on my form - one for save and one for save as draft. I attach the validationEngine to the form when Save is clicked. If the validation fails, and the user clicks Save as Draft (by passing the validation), the validation engine is still attached to the form from when they clicked "save". What I want to do is: - allow the user to attempt to save - validation fails and error is displayed - and allow them to click save as draft without any validation being performed I tried the unbind function and it appears to work, but it breaks the submit on the button completely. I just want to remove the validationEngine and allow everything else to work as it was. Thanks

  • Professional jQuery based Combobox control?

    - by splattne
Are there any professional Combobox controls (dropdown list with autosuggestion) based on the jQuery library? It should be able to handle large datasets and have some skinning options. A multi-column result list would be great too. I'm working with ASP.NET, but it's a not a problem if I had to write a wrapper for it. I'm already using a third-party control, but I ran into some compatibilty issues between two vendor's controls. Well, I want to get rid of this kind of dependencies.

  • How to use jQuery .each() - I get a value, but it's the wrong one

    - by Ankur
I am returning a JSON object (as a String) through a servlet. The JSON object looks like this: {"3":"Martin Luther","30":"Boris Becker","32":"Joseph Goebels","19":"Leonardo Da Vinci","31":"Adolf Hitler"} My jQuery looks like this (the submission of data is correct because I get a proper looking result from the servlet): $.ajax( { type : "GET", url : "MyServlet", data : queryString + "count=" + variables, success : function(resultObj) { $.each(resultObj, function(key, value) { $("#resultCount").html(key+", "+value); }); } }); However when I try to print the results, that is the variables key and value, I get a number for the key but not a number from the JSONObject and an empty string instead of the value. Essentially the question is about how to "extract" the information from a JSON object.

  • jQuery Roundabout IE images pixellated

    - by luke
Hi at http://lunatestsite.co.uk my jQuery roundabout near the bottom of the homepage is problematic in IE7 and 8 - book cover images blurred/pixellated. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1985303/ie-image-display-problems/2355921#2355921 suggests something to do with em sizing in IE being the root of it but I don't really understand the conclusion reached there. I don't think opacity is an issue in this. Any help gratefully appreciated, this is more or less last on more checklist for this site! Thanks Edit: fixed by resetting to font-size: 1em before the height and width em declarations for the roundable-movable-item and roundabout-movable-item img. Now working in IE7 and 8.

  • JQuery preventDefault() but still add the fragment path to the URL without navigating to the fragment

    - by jdln
    My question is similar to this one but none of the answers solve my problem: Use JQuery preventDefault(), but still add the path to the URL When a user clicks a fragment link, I need to remove the default behaviour of jumping to the fragment but still add the fragment to the URL. This code (taken from the link) will fire the animation, and then add the fragment to the URL. However the fragment is then navigated to, which im my case breaks my site. $("#login_link").click(function (e) { e.preventDefault(); $("#login").animate({ 'margin-top': 0 }, 600, 'linear', function(){ window.location.hash = $(this).attr('href'); }); });

  • Jquery runtime error: object expected

    - by Joris
The Jquery script that controls my tabcontainer gives an "object expected" runtime error. I honestly can't find the reason why: $(document).ready(function() { //When page loads... $(".tab_content").hide(); //Hide all content $("ul.tabs li:first").addClass("active").show(); //Activate first tab $(".tab_content:first").show(); //Show first tab content //On Click Event $("ul.tabs li").click(function() { $("ul.tabs li").removeClass("active"); //Remove any "active" class $(this).addClass("active"); //Add "active" class to selected tab $(".tab_content").hide(); //Hide all tab content var activeTab = $(this).find("a").attr("href"); //Find the href attribute value to identify the active tab + content $(activeTab).fadeIn(); //Fade in the active ID content return false; }); }); Has it something to do with the stylesheet?

  • JQuery Autocomplete - format listing and only return a part to the text box

    - by Jason
I'm using the JQuery Autocomplete and it's working just fine. I'm using it to allow someone to search for users out of a database by searching on last name or id number. Right now the drop down list that is created is the resultes of a SQL query and looks something like: $row_rst['lName'] . ', ' . $row_rst['fName'] . " - " . $row_rst['user'] . "|" . $row_rst['id'] which outputs something like: Jones, Henry - hjones Gibbons, Peter - pgibbons When I pick Henry the text box gets Jones, Henry - hjones and the hidden field gets his id. I'd like to format the drop down in columns if possible and only return Jones, Henry to the text box if possible. Are either of those options possible? I'm thinking it has to do with either formatItem(row) or formatResult(row) but I'm not sure and I can't seem to find how to go about this.

  • My AJAX is only firing once,

    - by sea_1987
    Hi There, I ahave some ajax that is fired when a checkbox is clicked, it essentially sends a query string to a PHP script and then returns the relevant HTML, however, if I select a select it works fine if I then slect another checkbox as well as the previous I get no activity what so ever, not even any errors in firebug, it is very curious, does anyone have any ideas? //Location AJAX //var dataObject = new Object(); var selected = new Array(); //alert(selected); $('#areas input.radio').change(function(){ // will trigger when the checked status changes var checked = $(this).attr("checked"); // will return "checked" or false I think. // Do whatever request you like with the checked status if(checked == true) { //selected.join('&'); selected = $('input:checked').map(function() { return $(this).attr('name')+"="+$(this).val(); }).get(); getQuery = selected.join('&')+"&location_submit=Next"; alert(getQuery); $.ajax({ type:"POST", url:"/search/location", data: getQuery, success:function(data){ //alert(getQuery); //console.log(data); $('body.secEmp').html(data); } }); } else { //do something to remove the content here alert($(this).attr('name')); } });

  • jQuery fadeIn fails with jqQuery form-plugin

    - by VoodooBurger
I have a message that I want to fadeIn when a form is successfully send. I'm using the jQuery form plugin and the code: $(document).ready(function() { var options = { target: '#output', beforeSubmit: validate, resetForm: true }; $('#holdform').ajaxForm(options); }); The validate function works perfectly so i added this code before it returns true: (...) $('#output').fadeIn('slow'); return true; } This should fadeIn the div I have underneath the form, styled as display: none;. But what happens is that the div fades in and then disappears. Does anyone have an explanation and possibly a solution to fix it? Thank you in advance! The code can be seen in it error-action here: http://gadebold.dk/events/tilmeld/

  • jQuery closing pop-up after successful form submit

    - by RyanP13
    Hi, I have a pop up form that i wish to close on successfull submit of the form. Currently we are only validating on the server side which will create an unordered list of validation errors with the class .error_message. Once the form has been successfully submitted i want to close the window. Currently the jQuery i am using for this is as follows but does not work because the first time the form has been submitted the number of error messages will always be zero. $(document).ready(function() { $('form#emailQuote').submit(function() { var $emailErrors = $('form#emailQuote ul.error_message').length; alert($emailErrors); if ($emailErrors == 0) { //window.close(); alert('no errors'); } else { //alert('errors'); alert('errors'); } }); });

  • Rotating images + content - jQuery or MooTools?

    - by Lenwood
I've found a feature on two different websites that I'd like to include on one of my web projects, but I can't figure out how they're doing it. I think they're using either jQuery or mootools, but I'm not sure. http://www.x-plane.com/index_desktop.html I'm new here so I don't have the reputation to post the other link, but if you do a Google search for "Andrews Institute of Orthopaedics" its the top result. I'll see if I can answer a few questions to earn my keep. The thing that I like about these is that the images and text (including links) are all rotated together. I've done a few web searches related to cycle, rotate and slide but it's not coming together for me. Can anyone give me a nudge in the right direction?

  • jQuery animation queues

    - by OneNerd
I am at a dead end, so hoping you jQuery gurus can help. I have a total of 10 elements (actually small images) on a page. I need to animate them like this: first 2 show up then the next 2 show up then the next 3 show up then the next 1 shows up then the last 2 show up So, I have added attributes to each one (sequence_num = "1" (or 2 or 3 etc) so I can easily choose via the $() which ones to animate using the animate() function.) My goal is to write a function that does the animation (I can do that - i think i have grasped the animate() function). What I am getting stuck on is how to delay the animation so the proper groups of objects are animated in before the next group starts. I have tried the queue parameter of the animate() function, but that doesn't seem to work for what I am trying to do. Does anyone have any experience with this?
