    I'm trying to use nginx for proxying requests to my internal backend. My configuration reads as follows: location /Shibboleth.sso { proxy_pass internal-backend; # ip proxy_redirect off; } But, my redirects are always rewritten.. My backend returns a response like https://www.google.de/test and my browser receives https://www.mydomain.de/test How do I get nginx to just forward the response?

  • Can all notebooks record from the sound card?

    Is it possible that a modern notebook (say built in the last 5 years) contains a (onboard) sound card that it is not possible to record from? I've always assumed that this is a very basic capability, but since I can't get it to work, I would like to check that before I put any more effort into it. In case it matters, my notebook is an ASUS UL50VT, I'm trying with Sound Recorder and Audacity under Ubuntu, but I am, at this point, not asking for "Try that"-support or software recommendations.

    Quick question – do you know any software or way of doing a live screenshot of a window and bring it to the foreground? It’d be like picture link in Excel... My problem is that I am running various tasks in IE and Oracle, and they take forever but i have no way of seeing if they’re done without tabbing back into them all the time.   • Stop Windows 8 from converting wallpapers to low quality JPGs

    This has been bugging me on Windows 7 as well, and much to my chagrin Microsoft didn't bother addressing that issue in Windows 8. Take this image for example: http://mantia.me/goodies/desktops/supermariobros_wide.jpg It's made for retina Macbooks, so naturally it's being downscaled when setting it as wallpaper on my 1680x1050 screen. Windows 8 manages to make it look like shit, see this screenshot: http://d.pr/i/WGFy Is there any way of making Windows always the original image, not some JPGized-to-hell version of it?

  • No compatibility tab for Devenv.exe (VS 2010 and VS 2012) on Windows 8

    I've tried checking the "Run as Administrator" on the shortcut, but that doesn't always seem to work, like when I open the solution through the jumplist. I browsed to the devenv.exe file, but when I open the properties for the file the Compatibility tab is not there. It is there for other executables in the same directory. Does anyone know how I can get the tab back so that I can set the Run as Administrator open on the executable?

  • LAN connection loses network access randomly

    Hi, Windows 7 is a great OS but there are some problems which should be solved from Microsoft as fast as possible. On my Computer the LAN connection randomly loses its connection. I don't know why but I think this problem depends on my network driver which is only available for Windows XP (where it always worked perfectly). I can not reproduce this issue. Has anybody here had the same problem?

    I would like to know if there is a systematical way (software) to capture a fixed region on the screen, under Windows 7 or OS X. It must be accurate about the region. I always want to capture the region with left-top coordinate (300, 300) and right-bottome coordinate (800, 800). So I can't not select the region by mouse myself. A software to do this capture should let me to input the 2 coordinates.

  • Pin two shortcuts to same application with different settings to taskbar

    I'd like to have two shortcuts to Visual Studio on my taskbar: one with default settings and a second modified to always run as admin. I know I can manually start a copy with admin rights by right clicking on the shortcut and then right clicking on the name of the application and selecting Run as administrator...; but I'd like to automate the process when I need it (without impeding my ability to start VS without admin rights when I don't need them).

From what limited research I've been able to complete, I have found that it is possible to access Derby databases over TCP, but I'm at a complete loss for this.     I need a script that can be run on freshly installed windows xp+ and download specified files from internet, like http://www.python.org/ftp/python/2.6.2/python-2.6.2.msi Is it any easy way to do it without hand-crafting HTTP/FTP requests or using third-party programs like wget? I can suggest that WScript.CreateObject("internetexplorer.application") will do the magic, but documentation on it is extremely huge and Google is silent, as always :).

  • How do I create a SCCM package where the main installation initiates self-contained msi's?

    I have a few applications that are installed using InstallShield -- during the installation one or two parts of the application are installed with msi's. I've tried recording an iss file to instruct the installation process, but these installations always seem to freeze up. I've also tried installing in a sequence, first installing the msi's, but this doesn't prevent the main installation from trying to install these. Any tips/suggestions/ideas? Thanks!

    I'm doing a fresh install of Windows 7 and I have an on board software RAID. I "need" to install the drivers via the infamous F6 process. Technically, it should be possible to do so after the OS has been booted, but long story short, this isn't going to work well for me. Is it possible to install F6 drivers during the installation using a USB, or must that always be done using floppies? What are my alternatives?

    There's this Cisco Catalyst 6509 switch with 2 (two) supervisor modules; one of them is active, the other is (almost always) in standby. We need to upgrade IOS; current version is 12.2.something (I can check exactly which one, if this does matter). Can this be done without service interruption? Something like "upgrade the standby supervisor, activate it, upgrade the other one"?

    Hello, I am trying to write a script which includes disk defragmentation as one of its steps. defrag needs administrative rights to work. I tried to use runas /user:Administrator, but it always asked me for password (even though there isn't one set). The script needs to run unattended for a long time, and it needs to be started from standard user account (it is actually being run by cygwin), so I'd like to get rid of that prompt.   • Adding default command line options when opening a particular filetype

    I'd like to make it so that whenever I open a particular file type (by double clicking it in explorer) it always opens the associated program with particular command line options. So, for example, when double clicking a .tex file I want it to not only open it with emacs (which is easy to set up just by going into "Open With"), but run emacs with the command line option "-fs".   • pscp.exe (Putty SCP) ignoring preserve attributes flag

    I am trying to scp files from a windows server to a linux server with the original time and dates intact. When running the command: pscp.exe -p C:\temp\somefile.txt user@server:/temp/ The file on the server always has the date/time of the transfer, not the original file. Putty SCP seems to be completely ignoring the preserve attributes flag. Anyone experienced this before and/or have a solution?
