  • Toubleshooting mapkit performance

    - by brettr
    I'm plotting over 500 points on a map using mapkit. Zooming is a little jittery compared to the native google map app. I've discovered what is causing the slowness. I'm adding custom annotations so that I can later add different pin colors and buttons for detail views: - (MKAnnotationView *) mapView:(MKMapView *)mapView viewForAnnotation:(AddressNote *) annotation { MKPinAnnotationView *annView=[[MKPinAnnotationView alloc] initWithAnnotation:annotation reuseIdentifier:@"currentlocation"]; annView.pinColor = MKPinAnnotationColorGreen; annView.animatesDrop=TRUE; annView.canShowCallout = YES; annView.calloutOffset = CGPointMake(-5, 5); return annView; } If I comment out the above code, everything works fine. Very smooth with zooming in/out. Should I be adding annotations differently to boost performance?

  • Get user email address with Facebooker?

    - by Kunal Dua
    I know the user needs to give the application "extended permission" for access to the email address. I went through the Facebooker documentation (I am using it for an iFrame app for whatever it's worth) but can't find any related stuff in the documentation or any sample code.

  • Can i openly speculate based on App rejection that the iPad has xxx MB of memory?

    - by GamingHorror
    If i were to calculate the iPad's amount of RAM based on just the one fact that my iPad App got rejected due to memory warnings twice, and me fixing it, would this violate the developer NDA? Obviously i know how much memory my App uses, how much the iPhone OS is likely to use and estimate the amount reserved for video memory, then i can deduct from that that the iPad has xxx MB of memory. I just wonder if i can say that number publicly without violating any NDA?

  • Problems with testing in app purchases

    - by sashaeve
    I am trying to test my application with in app purchases. I created features, test user, logged out from iTunes on the iPhone and used developer certificate. Load app from XCode in debug mode. When I click "Buy" button I pass all checks for internet availability, canMakePayments and call SKPayment *payment = [SKPayment paymentWithProductIdentifier:featureId]; [[SKPaymentQueue defaultQueue] addPayment:payment]; But all what I see is a pending view and after some minutes it failed in - (void) failedTransaction: (SKPaymentTransaction *)transaction { if (transaction.error.code != SKErrorPaymentCancelled) { NSLog(@"failedTransaction"); } [[MKStoreManager sharedManager] paymentCanceled]; [[SKPaymentQueue defaultQueue] finishTransaction: transaction]; } Please advice in what direction I should go to figure out the problem and what else I should check. P.S. All related questions on SO were checked with no luck.

  • Sorting array containing strings in objective c

    - by jakob
    Hello experts! I have an array named 'names' with strings looking like this: ["name_23_something", "name_25_something", "name_2_something"]; Now I would like to sort this array in ascending order so it looks like this: ["name_25_something", "name_23_something", "name_2_something"]; I guess that should start of with extracting the numbers since I want that the sorting is done by them: for(NSString *name in arr) { NSArray *nameSegments = [name componentsSeparatedByString:@"_"]; NSLog("number: %@", (NSString*)[nameSegments objectAtIndex:1]); } I'm thinking of creating a dictionary with the keys but I'm not sure if that is the correct objective-c way, maybe there some some methods I could use instead? Could you please me with some tips or example code how this sorting should be done in a proper way. Thank you

  • Problem generating APN SSL certificate after submitting to apple store

    - by MikeQ
    I'm having trouble getting Apple to generate an APN SSL certificate for my app ID. I've submitted the application to the Apple store, and it is pending review. I tested the application using an Ad Hoc app ID "${bundle_id}.adHoc" and everything went fine. I submitted to the Apple store with app ID "${bundle_id}.release". Now I want to generate my production APN SSL certificate for use with my release application ID - but the developer portal doesn't want to. When I upload my certificate request, it sits for about a minute before telling me: "We are not able to generate your Profile at this time. Please try again later or try using the Provisioning Portal" Is it impossible to generate your certificate while the application is under review or something? Should I have generated it prior to submission?

  • iPhone dev: Recurse all project resoureces and collect paths

    - by thomax
    I have a bunch of HTML resources in my app organized in a hierarchy like so: dirA |---> index.html |---> a1.html |---> a2.html |---> dirB |---> b1.html |---> b2.html |---> dirC |---> c5.html |---> c19.html I'm trying to collect the absolute paths of all HTML resources however deep down, but can't seem to figure out how. So far I've tried: NSArray myPaths = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathsForResourcesOfType:@"html" inDirectory:nil]; This returns an empty array, because I have no HTML files at the root of my project. Then there is: NSArray myPaths = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathsForResourcesOfType:@"html" inDirectory:@"dirA"]; This returns an array containing only the paths for the three HTML resources directly below dirA. If I read the doc correctly, I guess this is to be expected; pathsForResourcesOfType does not traverse subdirectories. But is there a (preferably nice) way to do it?

  • Iphone contact photo

    - by Kiran
    I tried to search an answer for this but couldn't find one. My iPhone application needs to access the Photo associated with the contact in the phonebook. However, it also needs to make sure that every time application is launched, it verifies that the photo is the same. So, in essence, I am trying to access the photo used by contacts database for a person's phone number or email address. - Is there a way for me to do this? Any help is appreciated.

  • NSAlert pops up for 3 times

    - by Marco
    Hello community i have a big problem. i implemented an NSAlert in the viewDidLoad() of my app: UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:title message:alertMessage delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:ok otherButtonTitles:nil]; But the Alert pops up for 3 times, and then i can klick on it. Could it be that the viewDidLoad() starts for 3 times? This is the viewDidLoad in the rootViewController, that manages the views: - (void)viewDidLoad { Kundenkarte *kartenAnsicht = [[Kundenkarte alloc] initWithNibName:@"Kundenkarte" bundle:nil]; kartenAnsicht.rootViewController = self; kartenAnsicht.viewDidLoad; self.map = kartenAnsicht; [self.view addSubview:kartenAnsicht.view]; [kartenAnsicht release]; // [super viewDidLoad]; } kartenAnsicht is the view where the problem is. I hope someone could help me because my ideas are over!

  • VerifyError When Running jUnit Test on Android 1.6

    - by DKnowles
    Here's what I'm trying to run on Android 1.6: package com.healthlogger.test; public class AllTests extends TestSuite { public static Test suite() { return new TestSuiteBuilder(AllTests.class).includeAllPackagesUnderHere().build(); } } and: package com.healthlogger.test; public class RecordTest extends AndroidTestCase { /** * Ensures that the constructor will not take a null data tag. */ @Test(expected=AssertionFailedError.class) public void testNullDataTagInConstructor() { Record r = new Record(null, Calendar.getInstance(), "Data"); fail("Failed to catch null data tag."); } } The main project is HealthLogger. These are run from a separate test project (HealthLoggerTest). HealthLogger and jUnit4 are in HealthLoggerTest's build path. jUnit4 is also in HealthLogger's build path. The class "Record" is located in com.healthlogger. Commenting out the "@Test..." and "Record r..." lines allows this test to run. When they are uncommented, I get a VerifyError exception. I am severely blocked by this; why is it happening? EDIT: some info from logcat after the crash: E/AndroidRuntime( 3723): Uncaught handler: thread main exiting due to uncaught exception E/AndroidRuntime( 3723): java.lang.VerifyError: com.healthlogger.test.RecordTest E/AndroidRuntime( 3723): at java.lang.Class.getDeclaredConstructors(Native Method) E/AndroidRuntime( 3723): at java.lang.Class.getConstructors(Class.java:507) E/AndroidRuntime( 3723): at android.test.suitebuilder.TestGrouping$TestCasePredicate.hasValidConstructor(TestGrouping.java:226) E/AndroidRuntime( 3723): at android.test.suitebuilder.TestGrouping$TestCasePredicate.apply(TestGrouping.java:215) E/AndroidRuntime( 3723): at android.test.suitebuilder.TestGrouping$TestCasePredicate.apply(TestGrouping.java:211) E/AndroidRuntime( 3723): at android.test.suitebuilder.TestGrouping.select(TestGrouping.java:170) E/AndroidRuntime( 3723): at android.test.suitebuilder.TestGrouping.selectTestClasses(TestGrouping.java:160) E/AndroidRuntime( 3723): at android.test.suitebuilder.TestGrouping.testCaseClassesInPackage(TestGrouping.java:154) E/AndroidRuntime( 3723): at android.test.suitebuilder.TestGrouping.addPackagesRecursive(TestGrouping.java:115) E/AndroidRuntime( 3723): at android.test.suitebuilder.TestSuiteBuilder.includePackages(TestSuiteBuilder.java:103) E/AndroidRuntime( 3723): at android.test.InstrumentationTestRunner.onCreate(InstrumentationTestRunner.java:321) E/AndroidRuntime( 3723): at android.app.ActivityThread.handleBindApplication(ActivityThread.java:3848) E/AndroidRuntime( 3723): at android.app.ActivityThread.access$2800(ActivityThread.java:116) E/AndroidRuntime( 3723): at android.app.ActivityThread$H.handleMessage(ActivityThread.java:1831) E/AndroidRuntime( 3723): at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:99) E/AndroidRuntime( 3723): at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:123) E/AndroidRuntime( 3723): at android.app.ActivityThread.main(ActivityThread.java:4203) E/AndroidRuntime( 3723): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invokeNative(Native Method) E/AndroidRuntime( 3723): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:521) E/AndroidRuntime( 3723): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run(ZygoteInit.java:791) E/AndroidRuntime( 3723): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit.main(ZygoteInit.java:549) E/AndroidRuntime( 3723): at dalvik.system.NativeStart.main(Native Method)

  • How can I fix this NavigationController and UIToolbar offset issue in Objective-C?

    - by editor
    I'm adding a couple of buttons to an already-existing NavigationController. The two buttons are added to a UIView, which is pushed onto the NavigationItem. The buttons stop and reload a UIWebView. Problem is that there's a slight offset issue that is making it all look pretty ugly. I wish I could set the UIToolbar to transparent or clear background but that doesn't seem to be an option. Can't seem to use negative offsets either. I've got color matching, but if you look closely there's 1px or 2px of highlighting up top that's causing a visual mismatch and then a slight offset at the bottom. Some relevant code below (based on this, inbound Googlers). What are my options to resolve this? // create a toolbar for the buttons UIToolbar* toolbar = [[UIToolbar alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 100, 45)]; [toolbar setBarStyle: UIBarStyleDefault]; UIColor *colorForBar = [[UIColor alloc] initWithRed:.72 green:0 blue:0 alpha:0]; toolbar.tintColor = colorForBar; [colorForBar release]; //[toolbar setTranslucent:YES]; // create an array for the buttons NSMutableArray* buttons = [[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithCapacity:3]; // create a standard reload button UIBarButtonItem *reloadButton = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithBarButtonSystemItem:UIBarButtonSystemItemRefresh target:self action:@selector(reload)]; reloadButton.style = UIBarButtonItemStyleBordered; [buttons addObject:reloadButton]; [reloadButton release]; // create a spacer between the buttons UIBarButtonItem *spacer = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithBarButtonSystemItem:UIBarButtonSystemItemFixedSpace target:nil action:nil]; [buttons addObject:spacer]; [spacer release]; // create a standard delete button with the trash icon UIBarButtonItem *stopButton = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithBarButtonSystemItem:UIBarButtonSystemItemStop target:self action:@selector(stopLoading)]; stopButton.style = UIBarButtonItemStyleBordered; [buttons addObject:stopButton]; [stopButton release]; // put the buttons in the toolbar and release them [toolbar setItems:buttons animated:NO]; [buttons release]; // place the toolbar into the navigation bar self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:toolbar]; [toolbar release];

  • Animating removeFromSuperview

    - by brettr
    I'd like to animate the transition from a subview back to the super view. I display the subview using: [UIView beginAnimations:@"curlup" context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationDelegate:self]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:.5]; [UIView setAnimationTransition:UIViewAnimationTransitionCurlUp forView:self.view cache:YES]; [self.view addSubview:self.mysubview.view]; [UIView commitAnimations]; The above works fine. It's going back to the super view that I don't get any animation: [UIView beginAnimations:@"curldown" context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationDelegate:self]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:.5]; [UIView setAnimationTransition:UIViewAnimationTransitionCurlDown forView:self.view cache:YES]; [self.view removeFromSuperview]; [UIView commitAnimations]; Is there something different I should be doing to get the subview to animate when removed?

  • Using plist to populate a grouped table

    - by Jack Griffiths
    Hi there, I was wanting to use a plist to populate my grouped table. I've had a look at the DrillDownSave sample project, and I'm still none-the-wiser. Although, I did learn that I could store hierarchies and suchlike in there. So here's the questions: How can I use my plist to add new items to my grouped table? I'm currently feeding the table with an array, and I've noticed that an array isn't going to be the best thing for me. When a user taps on an item in the plist, how can I push the view to the corresponding item? In other words, how can I push the view based on the selected row (which was generated by the plist) to it's next "view"? If that makes any sense, please reply. Thanks, Jack.

  • iPhone UINavigation Controller issue?

    - by NextRev
    I have 3 different xib's. I am able to go back and forth between view 1 and view 2 with the following code... This Code brings up the second view... -(IBAction)startButtonClicked:(id)sender{ self.gamePlayViewController = [[GamePlayViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"GamePlayViewController" bundle:nil]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:gamePlayViewController animated:YES]; [GamePlayViewController release]; } This Code is executed in the second view and brings me back to the first view... -(IBAction)backButtonClicked{ [self.navigationController popViewControllerAnimated:YES]; } Now when I try to execute this code (in the second view) to get to the third view...I get SIGABRT and the app crashes...why does it work for the first view bringing up the second view, but not for the second view bringing up the 3rd view? -(IBAction)nextView{ self.thirdViewController = [[ThirdViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"ThirdViewController" bundle:nil]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:thirdViewController animated:YES]; [thirdViewController release]; }

  • Efficiency questions

    - by rayman
    Hi, I have to manage XML documents and Strings in my app. In terms of efficiency and memory usage, will a collection like ArrayList be much more expensive than String[]? Also, I could store the content as a regular String or XML. Is working with XML also more expensive? (When I say expensive, I am referring to the use of system resources.) If there are differences, are they significant? Thanks, Ray.
