  • Is there a performance gain from defining routes in app.yaml versus one large mapping in a WSGIAppli

    - by jgeewax
    Scenario 1 This involves using one "gateway" route in app.yaml and then choosing the RequestHandler in the WSGIApplication. app.yaml - url: /.* script: main.py main.py from google.appengine.ext import webapp class Page1(webapp.RequestHandler): def get(self): self.response.out.write("Page 1") class Page2(webapp.RequestHandler): def get(self): self.response.out.write("Page 2") application = webapp.WSGIApplication([ ('/page1/', Page1), ('/page2/', Page2), ], debug=True) def main(): wsgiref.handlers.CGIHandler().run(application) if __name__ == '__main__': main() Scenario 2: This involves defining two routes in app.yaml and then two separate scripts for each (page1.py and page2.py). app.yaml - url: /page1/ script: page1.py - url: /page2/ script: page2.py page1.py from google.appengine.ext import webapp class Page1(webapp.RequestHandler): def get(self): self.response.out.write("Page 1") application = webapp.WSGIApplication([ ('/page1/', Page1), ], debug=True) def main(): wsgiref.handlers.CGIHandler().run(application) if __name__ == '__main__': main() page2.py from google.appengine.ext import webapp class Page2(webapp.RequestHandler): def get(self): self.response.out.write("Page 2") application = webapp.WSGIApplication([ ('/page2/', Page2), ], debug=True) def main(): wsgiref.handlers.CGIHandler().run(application) if __name__ == '__main__': main() Question What are the benefits and drawbacks of each pattern? Is one much faster than the other?

  • Should a service layer return view models for an MVC application?

    - by erg39
Say you have an ASP.NET MVC project and are using a service layer, such as in this contact manager tutorial on the asp.net site: http://www.asp.net/mvc/tutorials/iteration-4-make-the-application-loosely-coupled-cs If you have viewmodels for your views, is the service layer the appropriate place to provide each viewmodel? For instance, in the service layer code sample there is a method public IEnumerable<Contact> ListContacts() { return _repository.ListContacts(); } If instead you wanted a IEnumerable, should it go in the service layer, or is there somewhere else that is the "correct" place? Perhaps more appropriately, if you have a separate viewmodel for each view associated with ContactController, should ContactManagerService have a separate method to return each viewmodel?

  • Exposing members or make them private in Python?

    - by deamon
Is there a general convention about exposing members in Python classes? I know that this is a case of "it depends", but maybe there is a rule of thumb. Private member: class Node: def __init__(self): self.__childs = [] def add_childs(self, *args): self.__childs += args node = Node() node.add_childs("one", "two") Public member: class Node2: def __init__(self): self.childs = [] node2 = Node2() node2.childs += "one", "two"

  • Loading views dynamically

    - by Dan
Case 1: I have created View-based sample application and tried execute below code. When I press on "Job List" button it should load another view having "Back Btn" on it. In test function, if I use [self.navigationController pushViewController:jbc animated:YES]; nothing gets loaded, but if I use [self presentModalViewController:jbc animated:YES]; it loads another view haveing "Back Btn" on it. Case 2: I did create another Navigation Based Applicaton and used [self.navigationController pushViewController:jbc animated:YES]; it worked as I wanted. Can someone please explain why it was not working in Case 1. Does it has something to do with type of project that is selected? @interface MWViewController : UIViewController { } -(void) test; @end @interface JobViewCtrl : UIViewController { } @end @implementation MWViewController (void)viewDidLoad { UIButton* btn = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeRoundedRect]; btn.frame = CGRectMake(80, 170, 150, 35); [btn setTitle:@"Job List!" forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [btn addTarget:self action:@selector(test) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; [self.view addSubview:btn]; [super viewDidLoad]; } -(void) test { JobViewCtrl* jbc = [[JobViewCtrl alloc] init]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:jbc animated:YES]; //[self presentModalViewController:jbc animated:YES]; [jbc release]; } (void)dealloc { [super dealloc]; } @end @implementation JobViewCtrl -(void) loadView { self.view = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:[[UIScreen mainScreen] applicationFrame]]; self.view.backgroundColor = [UIColor grayColor]; UIButton* btn = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeRoundedRect]; btn.frame = CGRectMake(80, 170, 150, 35); [btn setTitle:@"Back Btn!" forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [self.view addSubview:btn]; } @end

  • NSXMLParser 's delegate and memory leak

    - by dizzy_fingers
Hello, I am using a NSXMLParser class in my program and I assign a delegate to it. This delegate, though, gets retained by the setDelegate: method resulting to a minor, yet annoying :-), memory leak. I cannot release the delegate class after the setDelegate: because the program will crash. Here is my code: self.parserDelegate = [[ParserDelegate alloc] init]; //retainCount:1 self.xmlParser = [[NSXMLParser alloc] initWithData:self.xmlData]; [self.xmlParser setDelegate:self.parserDelegate]; //retainCount:2 [self.xmlParser parse]; [self.xmlParser release]; ParserDelegate is the delegate class. Of course if I set 'self' as the delegate, I will have no problem but I would like to know if there is a way to use a different class as delegate with no leaks. Thank you in advance.

  • Is a Service Bus a good option to communicate with multiple external servers?

    - by PFreitas
We are developing an application that communicates, via web services or TCP/IP sockets, with multiple servers (up to 50 different external companies). Basically, the exchanged messages are the same (XML), but depending on the inputs of our application we should call 1 or more external servers. The benefits we would expect of introducing a Service Bus in the architecture would be: 1- Remove the need to manage all point-to-point configurations (all the 50 endpoints); 2- Simplify the communication layer of our application by having only one server to talk to; Is a Service Bus a good architectural option for this scenario? What is the best (simplest) Service Bus for this kind of communication? I read a few MSDN articles on Azure Service Bus Relay, but it didn’t seem to fit our needs. Am I wrong? Thanks for your help.

  • tracking the position of dragview

    - by user262325
Hello everyone I put a dragview on an UIView, I hope when I drag the dragview, its superview (UIView) tracks the position of the dragview and moves itself to the position where to keep dragview at the original position on the UIView. The codes show below: #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @interface DragView : UIImageView { CGPoint startLocation; } @end #import "DragView.h" @implementation DragView - (id)initWithFrame:(CGRect)frame { if (self = [super initWithFrame:frame]) { // Initialization code } return self; } - (void)drawRect:(CGRect)rect { // Drawing code } -(void) touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent*)event { CGPoint pt=[[touches anyObject] locationInView:self]; startLocation=pt; [[self superview] bringSubviewToFront:self]; } -(void) touchesMoved:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { CGPoint pt=[[touches anyObject] locationInView:self]; CGRect frame=[self frame]; frame.origin.x+=pt.x-startLocation.x; frame.origin.y+=pt.y-startLocation.y; CGRect frame1=[[self superview] frame];//superview of the dragview frame1.origin.x+=frame.origin.x; //tracks the postion of dragview frame1.origin.y+=frame.origin.y; [[self superview] setFrame: frame1 ]; //move to new position [self setFrame:frame]; } my problem is that the UIView moved but lagged to the movement of the drageview(RED BLOCK). Welcome any comment Thanks interdev

  • IOS How to make the view cover keyboard

    - by regrecall
I encounter the a problem: I have a view controller like this. TO make tool bar up when the keyboard appear, I move the self.view to up. [self.view setFrame:CGRectMake(self.view.frame.origin.x, self.view.frame.origin.y + keyboardFrame.size.height * (up ? -1 : 1), self.view.frame.size.width, self.view.frame.size.height)]; Now I want to click the left button in the tool bar, and appear the view that frame is same as the this keyboard. But where can I add this view? if add the subview to the self.view, it will move up with the self.view on the top of the keyboard, not cover. I'm a beginner about IOS, I have no idea about it, and have searched, but got nothing about this. another question, IF when the toolbar at the bottom, I aslo want to click the left button on it to show the view(the animation and frame both are the same as the keyboard), how can I do ? Can you help me? Thanks

  • Python - Is there a better/efficient way to find a node in tree?

    - by Sej P
I have a node data structure defined as below and was not sure the find_matching_node method is pythonic or efficient. I am not well versed with generators but think there might be better solution using them. Any ideas? class HierarchyNode(): def __init__(self, nodeId): self.nodeId = nodeId self.children = {} # opted for dictionary to help reduce lookup time def addOrGetChild(self, childNode): return self.children.setdefault(childNode.nodeId,childNode) def find_matching_node(self, node): ''' look for the node in the immediate children of the current node. if not found recursively look for it in the children nodes until gone through all nodes ''' matching_node = self.children.get(node.nodeId) if matching_node: return matching_node else: for child in self.children.itervalues(): matching_node = child.find_matching_node(node) if matching_node: return matching_node return None

  • ASP.NET web site running in IIS and hosting WCF service fails to get connections on the TCP server

    - by Salil
I am using the combination of Silverlight client application along with ASP.NET web site running in IIS and hosting WCF service. This WCF service uses the library that starts a TCP server and and initiates requests to the connected TCP clients when the silverlight client application makes the WCF async requests. When I use this library in a local WPF application, the TCP server is able to receive client connection requests and I can get info from these clients. But when I use the same library from the implementation of the WCF service inside the ASP .NET web site project (+ Silverlight client), the server strangely does not receive any connection requests i.e. when I create TcpListener object and issue a start, nothing happens (nor an exception is generated). My setup is I am using the Ethernet for the Internet and Wi-Fi for the TCP clients. Is the WCF service getting confused because of this? Is there any special WCF settings I should put in for TcpListener.Start to work?

  • How do I upload a file, process it and return a result file in a single request to a REST WCF service?

    - by sharptooth
I need to implement the following scenario in a REST service implemented in WCF: the user submits a binary file and a set of parameters the server consumes the file, does some clever work and generates a binary output file the user retrieves that binary result file and all that is done in a single operation from the client perspective. It's pretty easy in a non-REST service. How do I do that in a REST service? Where do I get started?

  • vb.net how to start a folder monitor service at runtime and pass on the folder path to monitor?

    - by mazrabul
hi, I have the following windows service file: Imports System.ServiceProcess Imports System.IO Public Class fswService Dim fsw As FileSystemWatcher Dim lf As StreamWriter Protected Overrides Sub OnStart(ByVal args As String()) ' Add code here to start your service. This method should set things ' in motion so your service can do its work. lf = New StreamWriter(Application.StartupPath & "\fsw_lg.log") fsw = New FileSystemWatcher() fsw.Path = args(0) fsw.IncludeSubdirectories = True fsw.Filter = ".txt" fsw.EnableRaisingEvents = True AddHandler fsw.Created, New FileSystemEventHandler(AddressOf file_created) AddHandler fsw.Changed, New FileSystemEventHandler(AddressOf file_changed) AddHandler fsw.Deleted, New FileSystemEventHandler(AddressOf file_deleted) End Sub Public Sub file_created(ByVal obj As Object, ByVal e As FileSystemEventArgs) lf.WriteLine(Now.ToShortDateString & "-" & Now.ToShortTimeString & "-" & e.FullPath & "-created") End Sub Public Sub file_changed(ByVal obj As Object, ByVal e As FileSystemEventArgs) lf.WriteLine(Now.ToShortDateString & "-" & Now.ToShortTimeString & "-" & e.FullPath & "-changed") End Sub Public Sub file_deleted(ByVal obj As Object, ByVal e As FileSystemEventArgs) lf.WriteLine(Now.ToShortDateString & "-" & Now.ToShortTimeString & "-" & e.FullPath & "-deleted") End Sub Protected Overrides Sub OnStop() lf.Close() End Sub End Class i have the ServiceName set to fswService (same as class name). When I added an installer I also set the ServiceName for the ServiceInstaller1 as fswService. I want to start this service at runtime based on the user setting the path of the folder to be watched. To achieve this I have the following: Dim fsw_controller As New ServiceProcess.ServiceController fsw_controller.Start(fswService) 2 problems: first, intellisense error saying: 'fswService' is a type and cannot be used as an expression. second, I can not figure out a way to pass on to the service the path of the folder to watch (which is stored at My.Settings.userPath). I really thought this is how you start a service. Am I missing something? Your help is, as always, appreciated. Thanks

  • 505 (HTTP version not supported) sent to client when ASP.NET application attempts to access WCF service

    - by Aaron J Spetner
We have created a DLL to facilitate access of a 3rd-party WCF Service. This DLL works fine in a Windows Application on our test machines, but when we try to use it in an ASP.NET application on our web server, our web server returns a 505 HTTP version not supported error to the client. To clarify, the setup is Client-Server-WCF Service. Using Fiddler, I can tell that our server is not making requests to the WCF Service. The calls are wrapped in a try/catch block, but no Exception occurs. Instead, as soon as the call to the service is attempted, our server returns a 505 error to the client and terminates execution. We are using clientCertificate authentication over HTTPS with serviceCertificate certificateValidationMode set to "None". Thanks

  • Android how do I wait until a service is actually connected?

    - by Ryan
I have an Activity calling a Service defined in IDownloaderService.aidl: public class Downloader extends Activity { IDownloaderService downloader = null; // ... In Downloader.onCreate(Bundle) I tried to bindService Intent serviceIntent = new Intent(this, DownloaderService.class); if (bindService(serviceIntent, sc, BIND_AUTO_CREATE)) { // ... and within the ServiceConnection object sc I did this public void onServiceConnected(ComponentName name, IBinder service) { Log.w("XXX", "onServiceConnected"); downloader = IDownloaderService.Stub.asInterface(service); // ... By adding all kinds of Log.xx I found that the code after if(bindService(...)) actually goes BEFORE ServiceConnection.onServiceConnected is being called - that is, when downloader is still null - which gets me into trouble. All the samples in ApiDemos avoid this timing problem by only calling services when triggered by user actions. But what should I do to right use this service after bindService succeeds? How can I wait for ServiceConnection.onServiceConnected being called reliably?

  • How do i know in the detail view what cell in tableview was selected?

    - by Daniel Rotaru
how can i know what tableview cell was selected?(being in the detail view) The problem is that. I have an table view controller. Here are parsed from the internet entries to the table. So it's a dynamic tabe view that loads from internet. I will not know how many entries will be in the table so i will not know what details view to call when i click a row. So i have maked one view. This view contains an calendar. On this calendar(wich is the detail iew) i will parse data from internet depending on the selected row. For exemple: i have table: entry 1, entry 2,entry 3,entry 4 When i click entry 2 i need to call a php with the argument entry 2. The php will know what entry on the table i have selected and will generate me the correct xml that i will parse. Here is my tableview didSelectRow function: - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { // Navigation logic -- create and push a new view controller if(bdvController == nil) bdvController = [[BookDetailViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"BookDetailView" bundle:[NSBundle mainBundle]]; Villa *aVilla = [appDelegate.villas objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:bdvController animated:YES] And here is my self view function on detailviewcontroller: -(void)loadView { [super loadView]; self.title=@"Month" UIBarButtonItem *addButtonItem = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithTitle:@"ListView" style:UIBarButtonItemStyleDone target:self action:@selector(add:)]; self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = addButtonItem; calendarView = [[[KLCalendarView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0.0f, 0.0f, 320.0f, 373.0f) delegate:self] autorelease]; appDelegate1 = (XMLAppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; myTableView=[[UITableView alloc]initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 260, 320, 160)style:UITableViewStylePlain]; myTableView.dataSource=self; myTableView.delegate=self; UIView *myHeaderView=[[UIView alloc]initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, myTableView.frame.size.width,2)]; myHeaderView.backgroundColor=[UIColor grayColor]; [myTableView setTableHeaderView:myHeaderView]; [self.view addSubview:myTableView]; [self.view addSubview:calendarView]; [self.view bringSubviewToFront:myTableView]; } I think that here in self load i need to make the if procedure.. If indexPath.row=x parse fisier.php?variabila=title_of_rowx but the question is how i know the indexPath variable?

  • Which Java Service or Daemon framework would you recommend?

    - by blwy10
I have encountered many different ways to turn a Java program into a Windows Service or a *nix daemon, such as Java Service Wrapper, Apache Commons Daemon, and so on. Barring licensing concerns (such as JSW's GPL or pay dual-license), and more advanced features, which one would you recommend? All I intend to do is convert a simple Java program into a service; I don't need anything fancy, just something that runs as a service or a daemon, so I can start it or stop it in the service manager, or it runs for the lifetime of my *nix uptime. EDIT: I've decided to make this community wiki. I didn't start this question with an intention to find an answer for a problem I really had. I was just doing some reading and researching and chanced upon this question, so I was looking for recommendations and the like. Sorry for not doing this sooner or doing this at first. I didn't know what community wiki was for when I first started, and I completely forgot about this question until now. Many thanks for the answers!

  • Attach GestureRecogniser to multiple imageviews

    - by AppleDeveloper
Something strange I encountered today while attaching same gesture recogniser to multiple image views. It gets attached to only the last one, in other words, it can be attached to only one view! I had to create multiple gesture recognisers to meet my requirements. Following is what I have done. Am I doing correct? Is that's the only way to attach recognisers to the multiple imageviews? Please note that I don't want to use UITableView or UIVIew and put all imageviews in it and attach gesture recogniser to only UITableView or UIVIew. I have all image scattered and I have to detect which image is being dragged. Thanks. • Access to an "upper" instance of a class from another instance of a different class

    - by BorrajaX
Hello everyone! I have a tricky question and probably what I want to do is not even possible but... who knows... Python seems very flexible and powerful... I'd like to know if there's a way to access to the class (or its fields) where an object is instanciated. Let's say I have: def Class1: def __init__(self): self.title = "randomTitle" self.anotherField = float() self.class2Field = Class2() and the class whose type will be the class2Field: def Class2: def __init__(self): self.field1 = "" self.field2 = "" # . . . # I'd like to know if there's a way to access the instance of Class1 from the instance of Class2 that is declared in Class1 (meaning, accessing the fields of Class1 from the variable self.class2Field in that Class1 instance) I know I can always change the init in Class2 to accept a Class1 parameter, but I'd like to know if there's another way of "climbing" through the class hierachy... Thank you very much!

  • How do I find the install directory of a Windows Service, using C#?

    - by endian
I'm pretty sure that a Windows service gets C:\winnt (or similar) as its working directory when installed using InstallUtil.exe. Is there any way I can access, or otherwise capture (at install time), the directory from which the service was originally installed? At the moment I'm manually entering that into the app.exe.config file, but that's horribly manual and feels like a hack. Is there a programmatic way, either at run time or install time, to determine where the service was installed from?
