• where do i find the drivers for a F5D7000 Belkin wireless adapter?

  So I plugged an F5D7000 Belkin desktop wireless adapter into my desktop. Here is a picture of it: I did a Google search and found the drivers. I installed the latest version - (F5D7000 - Driver - Version 8xxx), and the NIC is still unrecognized as per the next screenshot: Does anyone have any ideas on how to get this working? I'm running Windows XP SP3 32-bit. (I have taken a screenshot but without network connectivity I can't email it or post it anywhere and I don't have a USB stick.)

• unable to access Internet by wireless but can by cable

  i'M GOING MAD! UNtil last friday I had been successfully using wifi with the supplier as VIRGIN through their Motorola SB 4200 cable Modem and the wireless router being the Linksys WRT 54G router. Supported were three lap tops and an EPSON 510W printer and this had been running with no issue for about 3 years. Back to last friday, we started suffering significant delays and then the network collapsed with no wireless access. I was able to connect a single laptop direct to the cable modem and internet access was restored to just that one device. I thought that the problem was the router so I tried a backup D-Link device with no success. I have subsequently bought another cable modem AND a netgear router plus addidtional ethernet cables but with no success. The best that happens is that the signal appears good but I cannot get access to the internet. A yellow question mark appears on the 'gradient' icon. Each laptop and router works elsewhere so I'm stumped. Mind you I am a real novice so I'm not surprised. Please can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

• 2 Printers 1 Queue

  My issue: When an order is processed, the same document needs to be printed on two printers. My proposed solution: Create a single queue in CUPS with a backend script that spits the job out to the two real printers queues. My problem: Documentation. Maybe I'm looking at every ring around the bullseye, but I can't find anything that lays out the rules for writing a CUPS backend script. In the end, I have several questions: Is there already an option to do this in CUPS that I've missed? The line I use to add my queue is "lpadmin -p MultiPass -E -v multipass -P Generic PostScript Printer". But DeviceURI is bad unless I specify a directory like "-v multipass:/tmp". Why is this? For testing, my script does nothing but capture ARGV and write it out to a text file one line per argument. Problem is, I'm getting nothing. Logs show the job as successful, but I'm pretty sure my meager attempt at a backend isn't even being run. I've tried to keep this question brief, so please ask for more info as I'm sure I've left out the most important part in all this. Honestly, I'm just done chasing my own tail.   I have Windows 7 working on one machine but when I move it off to the new machine it crashes. If this is a driver issue do I need to download the drivers and install them first? Or do I install Windows 7 on the new machine first then copy the drivers folder over to the other disk so it will boot up correctly? I can stick the drive back in the old hardware and it runs fine.

I want to play and type on this notebook laptop without excessive palm strokes on the touchpad. I have that name there, showing that this is a touchpad (PS/2) I do not want nor want to use. • XP/Intel wirelss only showing 'hpsetup' ad-hoc network that isn't there

  Trying to help my friend with her work XP laptop, which recently stopped seeing any wireless SSIDs except the SSID 'hpsetup' (presumably from a wireless-enabled HP printer). Relevant information: The laptop is a Lenovo T500 (Centrino 2 chipset) with XP SP3. The network adapter is Intel WiFi Link 5300 AGN (built-in). The latest version (13.5) of the Intel drivers only are installed, not the Intel config software, so XP is using the Wireless Zero-Config manager. The wireless router is a NetGear WGR614 v7 with 802.11b/g. The SSID is broadcasting, and all the other laptops in the house can see and connect to it. On the laptop, I have tried repairing the network connection, disabling power management, turning off 802.11a & n radio, and more... but it didn't help. Some of the wireless settings are managed by Group Policy from her office (I get the "At least one of your changes was not applied successfully to your wireless configuration" message). It is enforced to connect to "Access point (infrastructure) networks only". The real kicker is that my laptop does not an SSID named 'hpsetup' here, but it can see several broadcasted SSIDs including the one we want, while my friend's laptop doesn't see any SSID except 'hpsetup'. Any suggestions?

  I have a Macbook Pro at work and installed the current VirtualBox (3.2.4) today. However, after using the VHD image for IE 7 on XP SP3 on this: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=21eabb90-958f-4b64-b5f1-73d0a413c8ef&displaylang=en The Virtual Operating System (XP) just thought there is no network card provided by the PC (the virtual PC simulated by VirtualBox), even if I set up 4 network cards in Settings, as NAT, host only, etc. So the XP cannot browse any webpage at all... Does any integration package need to be added for VirtualBox to make it work and how? (is VirtualBox providing a "too advanced" network card so XP SP3 doesn't have the driver for it? thanks.

  For Windows 7, 64 bit: I have a digital SPDIF output to my stereo, which controls speakers in other rooms. I also have a set of speakers connected to the regular audio jack at the computer. This allows me to send music to the kitchen while my child plays games on the computer. Works great. Except when I'm playing games and still want to listen to music. ;-D I know I can manually switch WMP to play through the speakers instead of SPDIF, but I was wondering if there's any way to enable simultaneous audio out in Windows 7? Virtual Audio Card is a non-starter because I'm running 64 bits and the VAC driver isn't signed.

  how can i install the bluetooth driver in this laptop in windows 7. The installation process tells me that i need to activate the bluetooth device to continue, but how can i activate if till that moment the device doesn't exist. There isn't any button or switch to activate the device manually. Edited: it's the np-r430 model. I read somewhere (a users forum, not official info) that for Chile and Argentina this models doesn't have built in the bluetooth device, but the US models have it. • diagnostic software for wifi adapter

  I'm having trouble with my wifi connection. Is there any software out there that can help me determine if the problem is in the drivers or in the hardware? Regretfully, I'm working on Vista Edit: The problem I'm having is that the Vista reports that the wireless radio is connected, shows an IP and all, the router also shows that the computer is connected, but there's no connectivity. I can't logon to the router, and I can't even ping it. When I ping it I get the response: General Failure I have tried connecting with and without various wireless security protocols. I have tried disabling the wireless adapter and re-enabling it from the Device Manager I have tried updating the driver None of this has helped. When I connect via Ethernet (with a cable, that is), everything works fine. Edit: I'm not using any firewall on the computer, that I'm aware of. The IP address for the WIFI adapter is similar to the one for the LAN adapter. They differ by one.

• Small office network setups

  I work at a small office and we're overhauling our network setup there. We're a web dev company and at the moment we have 50+ production sites running on the same machine that runs our internal email, which is just plain stupid. We're moving all our client hosting off site and are now looking for something to run our internal office requirement. Below is a brain dump: Equal amount of Mac & PC, about 25 machines in total. We need a central "server" to host files that should be accessible everyone as a "network drive". If possible we'd like to use low cost hardware for this (Mac or Win based). Disk space should be upward of 1TB. Ideally we should also be able to run a small web server on this machine (LAMP stack) to run some planning and billing applications we wrote ourselves. We need some sort of MS Exchange alternative for things like a shared calendar and especially being able to set Out of Office replies. We have one printer that is connected to the network Setup should be something can preferably be managed easily via a graphical interface and NOT require command line skills. Users want to keep using Apple Mail or MS Outlook After a quick google I came across the Zimbra collaboration suite, can anyone recommend this or any other solution for our office?

• Sound card problem, no audio device detected

  I bought a new sound card because my built in sound card did not function. When I open YouTube, Media Player or anything that can create a sound my computer will hang up and sometimes when I start my computer it will hang when the Windows XP sound will activate. Update: My computer has no audio. It says NO AUDIO DEVICE. I already installed Realtek AC97 and Realtek High Definition Audio Driver and I also pasted stream.dll to the Windows and system32 folders and I restarted my computer but it still says NO AUDIO DEVICE. • Can I use the voice & SMS features of my GSM SIM through my laptop?

  My laptop (a Lenovo T410s) has an internal GSM modem (device manager calls it a Qualcomm Gobi 2000 HS-USB Modem 9205) that I'm currently using a regular (voice, data, text, etc) 3G SIM in. The data functionality works great through the Lenovo software & Windows 7 but I was wondering if I can use the other features (specifically voice & SMS) through Windows. Is it posisble to use the non-data features of my 3G SIM through my Qualcomm GSM modem? If so, what software is available to this end? If not, where is the restriction? • Ubuntu on an XPS 14 Ultrabook with mSATA cache and 500GB HD - how to partition for dual boot?

  I am getting an XPS 14 ( http://www.dell.com/us/p/xps-14-l421x/pd ) and I want to dual-boot Windows and Ubuntu. This thing has a 500GB standard HD and a 32GB mSATA that can be used as cache. Does anyone know how this thing is partitioned? Is the OS installed on the mSATA drive and data is on the big HD? Is there a BIOS controller or maybe even a Windows driver that makes the mSATA drive and 500GB HD appear contiguous? I get the impression that something makes the mSATA be used invisibly as cache, but I can't find any technical documentation how that works. My primary concern here is wrt dual-booting Ubuntu. I want to know if I need to partition the mSATA separately, or the big HD, or just partition the "magic" contiguous disk space that appears available to the OS.

• Very fast Laptop Heating due to very high CPU usage by dwm.exe

  My laptop gets heated very fast and when I check the task manager, I find dwm.exe consuming very high CPU (mostly 100%). In the beginning I found the message "The graphic adapter has been stopped and recovered".Also I am getting one error message "Cidaemon.exe has stopped working" very frequently. During this period also, cpu usage is 100% which is consumed by dwm.exe. I have run ccleaner and Kingsoft PC doctor monitor to fix the register problem but the problem has not been solved. My display adaptor is : NVIDIA NVS 5200M. After the driver update, I am not getting "The graphic adapter has been stopped and recovered" but dwm.exe is still consuming 100% CPU one time in about 5 mins. Multiple restarts has not helped. Laptop Model: Dell Latitude E6430. Thanks in advance.

• Making a hidden truecrypt volume with existing data

  I have a 1TB hdd, which I would like to encrypt. I would like to make a hidden volume, with almost nothing within but some decoy data, and the rest in a hidden volume. However, my driver is over 95% full. Is it still possible to do this, or would it have to be done on an empty drive, and then copy the data over? I could not find the answer to this question in the documentation. Also, how easy would it be to undo, or unencrypt the drive? Would it again need another empty drive to begin with?

• Getting iTunes to play third party AAC files

  I have a library filled with some old MP3 files and I'm in the process of changing them all to AAC for the better sound quality. Obviously I can't just create AAC versions of the files I already have because they would sound worse (lossy compression to converted to more lossy compression), so I'm going to their source and downloading them in a lossless form and using a third party to make them into AAC. Apparently iTunes will not handle AAC files that aren't made with iTunes. Is there a way around this? I've looked at third party programs and would be willing to use them, but since they all require the iTunes/iPod/iEverything driver, I don't know if they would still prevent my files or not. Also before you jump on my back about pirating, these files are from old CDs that I lost years ago. I paid for them. Thanks.

• Creating a file server - How can I use a large VHD file in Hyper-V? (700GB)

  Hey everyone, After a few discussions (here, here, and here), I am still unable to create a simple VM that will be used as a fileserver hosted on my Hyper-V box. I have created a fixed 700GB SCSI drive (.vhd file), as I have learned an IDE drive of this size is not possible. Not to sound too cynical, but its blown me away at how much trouble its been to create a large amount of space and start using it. What is the best way to create a fileserver with a drive of this size hosted on Hyper-V Server 2008, and how can I get it going??? Inclusion of OS, driver, integration tools etc, anything you feel is required would be greatly appreciated. Extra information I am using the stand-alone version of Hyper-V server, and not Windows Server 2008. I have tried loading the Linux Integration Tools (linked in the comments of the last link above) onto a SUSE 11 VM and the installation fails, the machine cannot see the vhd at all.   BSOD constantly and the disk indicator is frozen. Error do not happen immediately, usually an hour after boot up. Here is the Minidump: Bug Check Code = 0x00000124 Caused By Driver = ntoskrnl.exe Caused By Address = ntoskrnl.exe+4b094c Crash Address = ntoskrnl.exe+4b094c Seems to be hardware problem, but I checked RAM, no error. I have two HDs installed, system is on SSD, data is on HDD. Checked SSD with the properties-tools-error-checking , no error. Re-installed several times, still happens even after removed HDD. Configuration: SSD: Crucial M4-CT064M4SSD2 with Firmware 0009 Intel HM65 CPU: i7-2630QM The SSD is set correctly, SATA III 6Gb/s enabled, and everything worked perfectly for nearly a year.

• Server 2008 R2 repair install

  Is it possible to do a repair install on a server 2008 R2 Enterprise machine like we used to be able to do on 2003? I need to reinstall on a remote server and don't have a driver cd in the drive just a copy of server. I am worried that when it comes back up I won't have any drivers for the NIC. I have a iDRAC but can't seem to send files over the DRAC to the machine. Sadly this server doesn't have an SD card in the DRAC with the files I need. I welcome any suggestions if the repair is not possible. Our IDC is in Chicago and they are buried under snow so I won't be able to get another admin on site until at least tomorrow.

• Dell Multi-Monitor Hub: true DisplayPort splitting?

  In my search for a new display, I came across the Dell Multi-Monitor Hub MMH11, which seemed to be an alternative to my search for daisy-chainable DisplayPort displays. However, before I cave and spend $179 on this device, I am wondering if this will be similar to other splitting devices where it appears to the computer as one big monitor and the device does the splitting (which I don't want). Or, does this use the packet-based nature of DisplayPort to present two/three separate displays to the computer? Also, would this device work on my MacBook Pro? (I know the Dell site says it's for Windows, but it also says that no driver installation is required. I'd assume since the MBP supports DP 1.2 it would work, but it's better to ask). Thanks!

• Having to Toggle Between Two Sets of Video Drivers

  So, I've got a Win7 64-bit gaming PC with GTX 260's. Recently, StarCraft 2 had an issue with flickering, which NVidia fixed with a new set of drivers. However, these new drivers induce unplayable graphical errors with Neverwinter Nights 2, something me and my friends still play from time to time. I am seeking advice on the "best" way to rectify this situation, to be able to switch between two driver releases, without compromising the stability of my system (if Windows stability isn't an oxymoron). I'm wondering if Windows 7 is structured in such a way that I can constantly reinstall these two sets of drivers back and forth overtop each other, possibly six or eight times a day, without very quickly driving myself to reformat to maintain that "just like new" performance. I'm loathe to have to reformat the drive and maintain two copies of the operating system, but I'll do it if I have to.

  Normally, after reformating and installing Windows 7, I used to go online and install all the updates, install all the driver updates and then install the anti virus. Because long ago, when I installed the anti virus first, applying windows updates crashed the AV! So, I install it last. Specially 7 sp1 is critical right? But now im having doubts... Going online without an antivirus means I'm vulnerable! (I have a home router which have a small firewall but I'm not sure about it) So, whats the best thing to do? Install the anti virus first or install the updates first?

• Wrong screen resolution with HDMI output to HDTV

  I own an HDTV with a native resolution of 1360x768. Sometimes I plug in my laptop to watch movies, and I used to do it with a VGA cable. I've had no problem setting the laptop to the TV native resolution with the VGA cable (1360x768). Having acquired an HDMI cable recently, I can't go past 1280x720, and if I do, the TV displays "invalid format". At 1280x720, the image is viewable but not centered, so for example I can't see the windows taskbar or titlebars. I've tried both cables (VGA and HDMI) with the same settings: Laptop's display turned off and trying to set the Tv's native resolution. What could I try to fix this issue? Could it be a faulty cable? (I'm using a Thinkpad with Windows 7) EDIT: My graphics adapter appears listed as Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family (Searching for my laptop's model yields Intel GMA 4500MHD as the graphic card) I'm downloading a driver update from Intel's website. I'll report my progress when I check its behavior tomorrow.

• How would one run a task sequence within a task sequence in SCCM 2012 SP1

  A Shining Example: Inside all of my task sequences I have a group that installs driver packages conditionally based on computer model: And of course, this list does nothing but grow. The fact that it grows isn't a big deal, what is a big deal is that every time it changes I have to manually copy and paste those changes across every task sequence I have, which of course leaves huge room for human error. The same goes for other groups of tasks that are common across task sequences. Looking for a solution where I could centrally manage these tasks, be it link other task sequences to a group within another task sequence, or create a separate task sequence and link to that. I came across a solution by John Marcum (SCCM MVP) that mentioned this ability, but this was a while ago and I can't find the link to it anymore to see if it's even still being updated/maintained, but I'm looking for more of a free solution, or even using Powershell or the ConfigMgr SDK is fine with me, I'm no stranger to either.
