• Storing SCA Metadata in the Oracle Metadata Services Repository by Nicolás Fonnegra Martinez and Markus Lohn

  The advantages of using the Oracle Metadata Services Repository as a central storage for the metadata. SCA has been available since the release of the Oracle SOA Suite 11g. This technology combines and orchestrates several SOA components inside an SCA composite, making design, development, deployment, and maintenance easier. SCA development is metadata-driven, meaning that metadata artifacts, such as Web Services Description Language (WSDL), XML Schema Definition (XSD), XML, others, define the composite's behavior. With the increased number of composites and the dependencies among them, it became necessary to manage all the metadata in an adequate way. This article will address the advantages of using the Oracle Metadata Services (MDS) repository as a central storage for the metadata. The MDS repository is a central part of the Oracle Fusion Middleware landscape, managing the metadata for several technologies, such as Oracle Application Development Framework (Oracle ADF), Oracle WebCenter, and the Oracle SOA Suite. This article is divided into three parts. The first part provides an overview of SCA and MDS. The second part describes some MDS tasks that help in the management of the SCA metadata files inside the repository. • Ad-hoc connection between iPhone and Macbook Pro

  I sometimes find it useful to connect my iPhone to my Macbook Pro by creating an ad-hoc wireless network from the MBP and connecting to that from the iPhone. However, what I find is that sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't. When it's not working the symptoms are usually that I see the ad-hoc SSID in the list of available networks on the iPhone, can connect to it from there (including entering my WEP key), and it shows up as the wifi network in use. However I don't get the wifi symbol in the taskbar (it remains as 3G) and attempting to use the connection (e.g. trying to connect to iTunes or Keynote using their respective Remote apps) fails saying that there is so wifi connection. I've tried rebooting both the iPhone and the MBP, recreating networks with different SSIDs and tried different channels - all to no avail! I'm especially puzzled that (a) sometimes it works just fine first time and (b) the Settings app seems to think its all connected fine. Is there anything else I should be trying?

• Remove automatic Aero disabling in Windows 7

  Sometimes when I'm playing games which are heavy on the GPU, Windows decides to helpfully disable aero, causing everything to freeze for a bit and in the worst case, combined with ATI's brilliant drivers, causes the game to crash. So, How do I stop Windows from automatically disabling Aero when playing games? It has absolutely no effect on the performance of the game itself when it does that. Also, I'd like to get rid of the "You should disable Aero to improve performance" helpful hint popup which sometimes shows up. But I suppose getting rid of the first will get rid of the second, assuming anyone knows how.

• Kickstart PXE Boot Installation not working

  I tried installing PXE Boot Installation Server on RHEL 6.0. I seem to have done everything according to the page: http://www.linux-sxs.org/internet_serving/pxeboot.html. In my case, the client boots, gets DHCP IP address from our server, connects to the Kickstart server too, but then nothing happens. It shows: Loading 192.168.1.101: pxe.linux.0 ..... 192.168.1.101 in my kickstart server. Did any one face such a situation? I'm using a test env on Oracle Virtualbox with DNS Server on RHEL 6.0, DHCP Server on CentOS 6.0 and Kickstart server on RHEL 6.0. The image I'm trying to install is that of REHL 6.0!   Possible Duplicate: How do I change the Respond To for Group Email adresses in Notes 6.5 When I send an email from a group mail box the email shows my email address as the sender. I would like to hide my email and only show my name. I am using Notes 6.5. Could you please advise if there is a way to set up my client to do this. I want this so the receiver responds to the group email not my personal email as it may be that I am not the one to do the fillow up to the response. There are 10 people in the group email.

• Formatting Dates, Times and Numbers in ASP.NET

  Formatting is the process of converting a variable from its native type into a string representation. Anytime you display a DateTime or numeric variables in an ASP.NET page, you are formatting that variable from its native type into some sort of string representation. How a DateTime or numeric variable is formatted depends on the culture settings and the format string. Because dates and numeric values are formatted differently across cultures, the .NET Framework bases its formatting on the specified culture settings. By default, the formatting routines use the culture settings defined on the web server, but you can indicate that a particular culture be used anytime you format. In addition to the culture settings, formatting is also affected by a format string, which spells out the formatting details to apply. The .NET Framework contains a bounty of format strings. There are standard format strings, which are typically a single letter that applies detailed formatting logic. For example, the "C" format specifier will format a numeric type as a currency value; the "Y" format specifier displays the month name and four-digit year of the specified DateTime value. There are also custom format strings, which display a apply a very specific formatting rule. These custom format strings can be put together to build more intricate formats. For instance, the format string "dddd, MMMM d" displays the full day of the week name followed by a comma followed by the full name of the month followed by the day of the month. For more involved formatting scenarios, where neither the standard or custom format strings cut the mustard, you can always create your own formatting extension methods. This article explores the standard format strings for dates, times and numbers and includes a number of custom formatting methods I've created and use in my own projects. • Lock down a site using Forms Auth in IIS7 with Windows Auth

  I have an ASP.NET MVC 1.0 application that uses Forms Authentication. We are using Windows Server 2008. I need to lock down the site so that only certain users (in AD Groups) can access the site. Unfortunately, though, when I set the site to not allow anon users and use windows authentication, due to the integration of the site and IIS, it shows the user as signed in as their domain account, instead of allowing them to sign in through Forms Auth. So, I need a mixed mode authentication. I need the site to be only accessible through windows auth, without anon users, but once you are in, it needs to use forms auth only. How would I go about doing this the right way?

• Troubleshooting Amazon EC2 reboot

  We've had a server (CentOS) running in EC2 for a few months. It had been going pretty smoothly until today when we got an alarm that the server was unavailable (HTTP service couldn't be reached). So I tried SSHing into the box but that timed out as well. I logged into the EC2 console and it said the instance was running and there wasn't anything in the system log. One odd thing I noticed is that even though we have an Elastic IP attached to it (which shows in the Elastic IP management area), the instance detail is not showing that there is an EIP associated with the instance. I looked through the message log and the last thing I see around the time we got our alert was the dhclient renewed the lease. I'm guessing there may have been some sort of issue with the networking. How might I check if that was the problem, or if there were any other issues that may have caused our instance to stop responding?

• iTunes 9.2 OS X - iTunes DJ not functioning correctly

  I have been using iTunes on my Mac for 4 years now without any problems at all. Recently, however, the iTunes DJ function has started misbehaving. Instead of showing the 5 previously played songs, and 15 upcoming songs randomly selected from the playlist I have defined in the settings, it instead shows the 5 previously played songs, plus many more than 15 upcoming songs. In addition, the upcoming songs are not from the playlist, they are from about 7 or so albums, in album order. I have changed settings, change the source playlist, restarted iTunes, rebooted the machine. All with no change. Does anybody have any idea how to get this working again? Thanks, Dave

• Accessing apache on virtual pc

  I am using a virtual pc to test my website. I can access all my webpages on the virtual pc. However, images don't load correctly. I can browse to my images folder and view all of them. However, if I click an image it will not load, and the apache log shows the virtual pc's ip trying to view the image: 192.168.0.55 - - [25/Jun/2009:20:10:41 -0400] "GET /images/pic.png HTTP/1.1" 302 220 Now, if I refresh the page it loads. 192.168.0.55 - - [25/Jun/2009:20:10:51 -0400] "GET /images/bg.png HTTP/1.1" 200 214 Also, images won't load in html or css. It seems like a redirecting problem or something, but I have no clue how to fix it. Thanks for any advice

When I try to ping 192.168.30.1 from 192.168.30.2 machine, It shows destination host unreachable. I am also not able to ping 192.168.130.2 from 192.168.30.1. However ping -I eth0 192.168.30.2 works fine. Any pointers?

• You Can't Win on Price

  This year I did the majority of my Christmas shopping from the comfort of my home office. There aren't many things in stores you can't find online these days. I find it easier to search, research, and compare products online rather than walking the mall anyway. But there's a segment of the population that likes to be in the store, touching the products. For those people, smartphones avail them some of the e-commerce features I mentioned right there in the aisles. First it was RedLaser, then TheFind, ShopSavvy and many others. But the one that should be scaring retailers is Amazon's PriceCheck application. It lets you scan the product barcode, take a picture of the product, or speak the product's name. Once the product is identified, it shows the online prices, with Amazon at the top of the list. Within 10 seconds you can order the item and Amazon Prime members get free 2-day shipping too. I don't think fashion and grocery retailers need to worry much, but I have to believe smartphones are helping Amazon win a little more of the brand-name hardgoods market. So what's a retailer to do? Best Buy has begun to put QR Codes on their shelf labels that are easily scanned by smartphones and take the consumer to a Best Buy Web page where they can get extended information about the product. The consumer is getting the additional information they want, and Best Buy avoids the price comparisons. Of course if a consumer chooses to use the Amazon PriceCheck app, then all bets are off. That's when Best Buy has to hope the in-store experience and customer service will save the sale. My point is that the internet makes information available to everyone, and smartphones make it available anywhere. Unless you want your store to be Amazon's local showroom, you need to be price-competitive but differentiate on other aspects of the shopping experience. With the cost of running a physical store, you can't win on price.

  This is all done in MatLab 2010 My objective is to show the results of: undersampling, nyquist rate/ oversampling First i need to downsample the .wav file to get an incomplete/ or impartial data stream that i can then reconstuct. Heres the flow chart of what im going to be doing So the flow is analog signal - sampling analog filter - ADC - resample down - resample up - DAC - reconstruction analog filter what needs to be achieved: F= Frequency F(Hz=1/s) E.x. 100Hz = 1000 (Cyc/sec) F(s)= 1/(2f) Example problem: 1000 hz = Highest frequency 1/2(1000hz) = 1/2000 = 5x10(-3) sec/cyc or a sampling rate of 5ms This is my first signal processing project using matlab. what i have so far. % Fs = frequency sampled (44100hz or the sampling frequency of a cd) [test,fs]=wavread('test.wav'); % loads the .wav file left=test(:,1); % Plot of the .wav signal time vs. strength time=(1/44100)*length(left); t=linspace(0,time,length(left)); plot(t,left) xlabel('time (sec)'); ylabel('relative signal strength') **%this is were i would need to sample it at the different frequecys (both above and below and at) nyquist frequency.*I think.*** soundsc(left,fs) % shows the resaultant audio file , which is the same as original ( only at or above nyquist frequency however) Can anyone tell me how to make it better, and how to do the various sampling at different frequencies?

• Setting alias in Windows PowerShell

  In PowerShell, I type: PS C: sal cdp "cd 'C:\Users\ec\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Projects'" I get no error from this, and PS C: gal cdp shows definition as: cd 'C:\Users\ec\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Projects' But, when I try to use cdp, I get this: Cannot resolve alias 'cdp' because it refers to term 'cd 'C:\Users\ec\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Projects'', which is not recognized as a cmdlet, function, operable program, or script file. Verify the term and try again. At line:1 char:4 + cdp <<<<  + CatergoryInfo   : ObjectNotFound (dsp:String) [], CommandNotFoundException  + FullyQualifiedErrorId   : AliasNotResolvedException I am guessing that this is trivially easy. So I apologize in advance if that is the case. I have googled and googled and have also read through Windows PowerShell Cookbook.

It will report the last full, differential and log backup date and time for each database. Along with these information you’ll also get some additional metadata that shows if a database is a read-only database and its recovery model: By default it will check only the last seven days, but you can change this value just specifying how many days back you want to check. To analyze the last seven days, and list only the database with FULL recovery model without a log backup select * from sys2.databases_backup_info(default) where recovery_model = 3 and log_backup = 0 To analyze the last fifteen days, and list only the database with FULL recovery model with a differential backup select * from sys2.databases_backup_info(15) where recovery_model = 3 and diff_backup = 1 I just love this script, I use it every time I need to check that backups are not too old and that t-log backup are correctly scheduled. query_memory_grants This is just a wrapper around sys.dm_exec_query_memory_grants that enriches the default result set with the text of the query for which memory has been granted or is waiting for a memory grant and, optionally, its execution plan stp_get_databases_space_used_info This is a stored procedure that list all the available databases and for each one the overall size, the used space within that size, the maximum size it may reach and the auto grow options. This is another script I use every day in order to be able to monitor, track and forecast database space usage. As usual feedbacks and suggestions are more than welcome!

  I'm correctly get following error. After searching about this issue, correct me if i'm wrong, I believe that adding/configuring IPv6 should solve the problem. I already know how to associate a combo box on a form with a query.   For some time I've been interested in binding the Windows Key (Super_L) on my keyboard to Copy and Paste for no other reason but convenience and consistency between my desktop and my MacBook.   SAMBA I'm running Samba on Ubuntu 9.10 on a MacBook Pro using Parallels. When I run the smbtree command, I get the following errors: peterv@MBP17U<2005$: sudo smbtree Enter root's password: session request to 192.168.1.156 failed (Called name not present) HADEN \SERVER2 cli_start_connection: failed to connect to SERVER2<20 (0.0.0.0). • Resetting "HDD Warning???" with Zalman ZM-VE400 external case

  Whenever I turn on (or plug in) the Zalman ZM-VE400 I have, it shows HDD Warning???. Sometimes briefly, sometimes until the Menu button is pressed. The case contains a SSD drive and as far as I understand the warning relates to the S.M.A.R.T. status of which this drive doesn't support all parts. How can I reset the warning so I don't receive it every time when turning on the drive? Firmware reports: V400_01_040_N Here's what I have tried so far: Unplug and plug back in Open the case and remove the SSD, then put it back in Press the button on the back side (cover removed) while plugged in Press the button on the back side (cover removed) while not plugged in USB Connect = Refresh = Enter USB Connect = Safe Removal = Enter Advanced = Umount VHDD = Enter
