• Can I force MySQL to output results before query is completed?

  I have a large MySQL table (about 750 million rows) and I just want to extract a couple of columns. SELECT id, delid FROM tbl_name; No joins or selection criteria or anything. There is an index on both fields (separately). In principle, it could just start reading the table and spitting out the values immediately, but in practice the whole system just chews up memory and basically grinds to a halt. It seems like the entire query is being executed and the output stored somewhere before ANY output is produced... I've searched on unbuffering, turning off caches etc, but just cannot find the answer. (mysqldump is almost what I want except it dumps the whole table - but at least it just starts producing output immediately)

  i have a database that already has a users table COLUMNS: userID - int loginName - string First - string Last - string i just installed the asp.net membership table. Right now all of my tables are joined into my users table foreign keyed into the "userId" field How do i integrate asp.net_users table into my schema? here are the ideas i thought of: Add a membership_id field to my users table and on new inserts, include that new field in my users table. This seems like the cleanest way as i dont need to break any existing relationships. break all existing relationship and move all of the fields in my user table into the asp.net_users table. This seems like a pain but ultimately will lead to the most simple, normalized solution any thoughts?

• Start SharePoint workflow only with new file versions

  I am trying to create a workflow to send an e-mail whenever a new version of a file is uploaded to a Document Library. The Document Library has lots of fields that, if updated, will create a new version of the ListItem, but I don't want to start the workflow for this cases. Only when a new version of the document is uploaded (including the first version) I want the workflow started. My document library does not need approval, only major versions are enabled and it does not need to checkout files before editing. Is there a way of doing this, even programmatically?

  Hi folks, I wish to add some type of business logic constraint to a table, but not sure how / where. I have a table with the following fields. ID INTEGER IDENTITY HubId INTEGER CategoryId INTEGER IsFeatured BIT Foo NVARCHAR(200) etc. So what i wish is that you can only have one featured thingy, per articleId + hubId. eg. 1, 1, 1, 1, 'blah' -- Ok. 2, 1, 2, 1, 'more blah' -- Also Ok 3, 1, 1, 1, 'aaa' -- constraint error 4, 1, 1, 0, 'asdasdad' -- Ok. 5, 1, 1, 0, 'bbbb' -- Ok. etc. so the third row to be inserterd would fail because that hub AND category already have a featured thingy. Is this possible?

• Importing CSV with line breaks in Excel 2007

  I'm working on a feature to export search results to a CSV file to be opened in Excel. One of the fields is a free-text field, which may contain line breaks, commas, quotations, etc. In order to counteract this, I have wrapped the field in double quotes ("). However, when I import the data into Excel 2007, set the appropriate delimiter, and set the text qualifier to double quote, the line breaks are still creating new records at the line breaks, where I would expect to see the entire text field in a single cell. I've also tried replacing CR/LF (\r\n) with just CR (\r), and again with just LF (\n), but no luck. Has anyone else encountered this behavior, and if so, how did you fix it? TIA, -J

  Hey all, I posted a similar topic for RoR, but didn't know how to edit my tags, so I'm making a new one for C#... I'm looking for a HTML editor which can be integrated in a C# app that has the possibility to create forms. Not forms per se, but I need the possibility to add radiobuttons, input fields, checkboxes and so on. There are many editors that provide Richt text (bold, italic, indentation and so on) but what I need goes a bit further, so help is appreciated. Thanks!

• override __set in __construct() in php?

  I have a class based on database values. I'm using __set to automatically sync database values with the class properties. Set checks an array of database fields that it is allowed to update in the database. The field 'id' isn't in the list, so __set will throw an exception if you try to do $objDbRow->id = 5;. However, there is one time when I do want to set the id property of the object, and that's on instantiation. So in __constuct, I have $this->id = $id (where $id is passed to __construct). However, __set seems to be intercepting the setting here, because an exception is being thrown on construction. What's the way to get around this? I suppose I also have a boolean flag, like $instantiated, that __set() would check before it does it's field whitelist checking. But that feels inelegant.

• Submit form if ajax validator returns true using jquery

  I am not sure where I'm going wrong. The idea is that before the form is submitted, one of the input fields is sent to a server-side validator via ajax. If the response is 1, the input is valid and the form should be submitted. If the response is 0, the form should not be submitted. The issue is that I can't figure out how to set a variable within the ajax request function that will prevent the form from being submitted.   I want to create a search query on MySQL database that will consist of 5 different strings typed in from user. I want to query 5 different table columns with these strings. When I for example have input fields like: first name, last name, address, post number, city. How should I query the database that I dont always get all the rows. My query is something like this: SELECT user_id, username from users where a like %?% AND b like %?% AND c like %?% AND d like %?% AND e like %?%; When I exchange the AND for OR I always get all the results which makes sense, and when I use AND I get only the exact matches... Is there any function or statement that would help me with this?

• Is there any injection vunerability in the body of an email?

  Hey guys..... AFAIK there is only a vulnerability within the HEADERS of an email when using user data correct? I am using the below function to sanitize my data, however I have some textarea fields on the page & hence these may contain linebreaks.. so was wondering if that user data is only going to be put in the body of the email, can it not bother with being sanitized - apart from stripping html of course?   hi, my customer wants a gallery of videos and images (small thumbnails) and if you click on one of them you can see the picture / video in the overlaying lightbox). Now, I cannot install auto-generating video thumbnails because I don't have access to ffmpeg module on the server. I can only allow my customer to upload these thumbnails by himself. I'm using image and video CCK fields for each node to allow my customer images and videos. However I dunno how should I let him upload thumbnails for his videos. Should I create an additional Image CCK field for this ? Consequently, I should somehow associate the videos with the images in the design and my customer should pay attention to place them in the same order.. this is not very nice solution, but it is the only one that came to my mind so far. Furthermore, I'm using the lightbox I should somehow ignore the video thumbnails and display the videos instead... some tips ? Thanks

It consists of the following fields: report_id INT ym VARCHAR -- YYYY-MM keyword VARCHAR(MAX) visits INT I can easily get the top 10 keyword hits with the following query: SELECT TOP 10 * FROM top_keywords WHERE ym BETWEEN '2010-05' AND '2010-05' ORDER BY visits DESC Now where it gets tricky is where I have to get the top 10 records for each report_id in the given date range (ym BETWEEN @start_date AND @end_date). How would I go about getting the top 10 for each report_id? I've stumbled across suggestions involving the use of ROW_NUMBER() and RANK(), but have been vastly unsuccessful in their implementation.

• Export a MYSQL column to a plain txt file with no headings

  So what I'm trying to do is write a script or CRON job (Linux- CentOS) to export the usernames listed in my wordpress database to a simple .txt file with just on username per line. So with the picture, I would like the .txt file to read like this: Sir_Fluffulus NunjaX007 (Except with all the username in the user_login column.) See screenshot at: http://i.stack.imgur.com/lZQai.png I have found how to export the entire table to a CVS file, but that contains about 10+ fields (Columns) that I DO NOT what to show up in this text file. Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to do this? If it helps, this is going to be for exporting users that have signed up on our website (Wordpress) to a whitelist.txt file for Minecraft. Thanks!

• Do validations still fire in ASP.NET even if the controls are hidden?

  I have a form that uses ASP.NET validations. I am using some inline C# in the aspx to show/hide certain controls depending on a user's role. I would use the Visible property, but there are so many of them, I just decided to do inline C# to show and hide (I know, not best practice, but bear with me for a second). I am having an issue where Page.IsValid is always set to False when I submit my form (when certain fields are being hidden). Will the validations still fire off even if the controls are not even rendered on the pag? Also, if this is not the case, is there an effective way of breaking down Page.IsValid to find out what is setting it to False? Thanks.

  Hello, I was wondering if there is a way to make an array which would have mutiple types of data fields. So far i was using aMyArray: array of array [0..1] of TPoint; But now, it is not enough for me. I need to add 3 more elements to the existing 2 "Point" elements making it an array like aMyArray: array of (TPoint,TPoint,real,real,real) So each element of aMyArray would have 5 'children', 2 of which are of a TPoint type and 3 of them are 'real' type. Is this possible to implement somehow?

• Comparing 2 linq applications: Unexpected result

  I drafted 2 ASP.NET applications using LINQ. One connects to MS SQL Server, another to some proprietary memory structure. Both applications work with tables of 3 int fields, having 500 000 records (the memory structure is identical to SQL Server table). The controls used are regular: GridView and ObjectDataSource. In the applications I calculate the average time needed for each paging click processing. LINQ + MS SQL application demands 0.1 sec per page change. LINQ + Memory Structure demands 0.8 sec per page change. This Is shocking result. Why the application handling data in memory works 8 times slower than the application using hard drive? Can anybody tell me why that happens?

  I was wondering if you know of a way I could filter a mysql query to only show the ‘alpha’ characters from a specific field So something like SELECT col1, col2, **alpha_chars_only(col3)** FROM table I am not looking to update only select. I have been looking at some regex but without much luck most of what turned up was searching for fields that only contain ‘alpha’ chars. In a much watered down context...   Hey guys, I'm trying to validate a model object outside of the context of ModelState within a controller, I currently have a parser that creates model objects from an excel file and I want to be able to report how many entries were added to the database and how many failed, is there a way to validate a model object on its data annotations outside of model binding? I'm looking for something similar to the rails model method of model.valid? or a way for me to implement that myself. My current solution is just manually checking if a few key fields are present but this duplicates requirements between my model class and its metadata, there has to be a better way to hook into the model validation checking that is done by mvc 2. NSUserDefault has worked well so far; Core Data looks like overkill (?), and sql lite, well, where's Oracle when you need it?

• casting odd smallint time to to datetime format.

  Hello everyone, I'm working with a db (SQL server 2008), and have an interesting issue with times stored in the db. The DBA who originally set it up was crafty and stored scheduled times as smallints in 12-hour form-- 6:00AM would be represented as 600. I've figured out how to split them into hours and minutes like thus: select floor(time/100) as hr, right(time, 2) as min from table; What I want to do is compare these scheduled times to actual times, which are stored in the proper datetime format. Ideally, I would do this with two datetime fields and use datediff() between them, but this would require converting the smallint time into a datetime, which I can't figure out. Does anyone have suggestions on how to do this? Thanks in advance.
