  • Using two threads and controlling one from the other in java?

    Can someone please help me out. I need to use two threads in a way that one thread will run permanently while(true) and will keep track of a positioning pointer (some random value coming in form a method). This thread has a logic, if the value equals something, it should start the new thread. And if the value does not equal it should stop the other thread. Can someone give me some code snippet (block level) about how to realize this?

  • Is there a way to have element behind a div (links) clickable in areas where the div is "transparent

    I have a block element that is positioned absolutely and some other elements on page that are positioned fixed. The effect is the block on top floats over the page which works well. The links in the elements at the bottom underneath are not clickable. They shouldn't be when the content of the div is over them, but when the "marginal" areas which are transparent are over the links they are visible, but clicks only register to the covering div. The problem only happens when the padding covers the div. But if I just rely on the margin the bottom margin is ignored by browser so the scroll doesn't go high enough up. To solve this I resort to padding at the bottom. This is the problem. Is there a clean way around this? I realize I could have the underneath elements doubled and place on top, but opacity set to 0. That is an undesirable solution however.   • Embedding script with timeout in case server goes down

    I need a way to make sure my script won't block the viewed page, if the server serving the script is down (port 80 is blocked for some reason). Currently when I test it and take down the server (Apache), or close the firewall, I see in the browser that it is trying to load the resource (script in that case), without success for long seconds, until it aborts. Is there a nice way to get past this issue?

    hi, how can I fix this problem on Internet Explorer 7: If I resize the browser window you'll see that the letters of the last tag on the right (in the header) are displayed in vertical one above each other. This happen only in IE, and not in other browser (you can better see the bug by visiting the website: http://www.sanstitre.ch/drupal/portfolio How can I ask IE 7 to consider the word as block, and move it to next line instead of listing the letters in vertical ? thanks

  • Multiple requests to server question

    I have a DB with user accounts information. I've scheduled a CRON job which updates the DB with every new user data it fetches from their accounts. I was thinking that this may cause a problem since all requests are coming from the same IP address and the server may block requests from that IP address. Is this the case? If so, how do I avoid being banned? should I be using a proxy? Thanks
