  • Java exercise - display table with 2d array

    I'm struggling to finish a java exercise, it involves using 2d arrays to dinamically create and display a table based on a command line parameter. I found the issue, and it's because the first for loop changes the array order more times than needed and basically it returns as it was at the beginning. I know that probably there's a way to achieve this by writing more code, but i always tend to nest as much as possible to "optimize" the code while i write it, so that's why i tried solving this exercise by using less variables and loops as possible.   • Basic Python While loop compound conditional evaluation

    In Python IDLE Shell it seems I cannot use a compound conditional expression and a while loop. I tried it within brackets too. k=0 m=0 while k<10 & m<10: print k k +=1 m+=1 If I write while k<10: print k k+=1 This does work. Is there a way I could achieve the first block of code with the "and" operator. I have done it in Java. Do I just need to put together "if" statements to achieve the same functionality in Python?

  • How to improve performance of opening Microsoft Word when automated from c#?

    I have Microsoft Word template that I automated filling it’s fields from my application, and when the user request print I open this template. but creating word application every time user request print after filling fields is very expensive and lead to some delay while opening the template, so I choose to cache the reference to Word then just open the new filled template. that solve the performance issue as opening file is less expensive than recreating Word each time, but this work while the user just close the document not the entire Word application which when happened my reference to Word become invalid and return with exception says: “The RPC server is unavailable” next time request opening template . I tried to subscribe to BeforClosing event but his trigger for Quitting Word as well as Closing documents. My question is how to know if the word is closing document or quit the entire application so I take the proper action, or any hint for another direction of thinking about improve performance of opening word template.

    When running the following code, the filenames of all files below C:\Test are printed. Why doesn't it print just Hello (n times, depending on how many files are processed)? Does this imply that I cannot rely on shift to reliably assign to $_? Imagine a coworker implements the wtf function and doesn't know that it's called from a File::Find wanted sub.   • Infinite recursion trying to check all elements of a TreeCtrl

    I have a TreeCtrl in which more than one Item can be assigned the same object as PyData. When the object is updated, I want to update all of the items in the tree which have that object as their PyData. I thought the following code would solve the problem quite neatly, but for some reason the logical test (current != self.GetFirstVisibleItem()) always returns true leading to infinite recursion.   • What technology should I use for a complex report?

    I have a task to generate reports from a Visual Studio C# application. This is a replacement (caused by new requirements) for a program written using the built-in implementation of Crystal Reports. Although workable, it was far from ideal. The reports have conditional content (If type=1, print this, if type=2 print that.) Crystal does not adjust spacing dynamically and the various pieces were not the same length making for some unprofessional-looking spacing. I had thought of generating the reports in HTML, which would be feasible, but I'm concerned that you lose a degree of control, and I may be asked, e.g. to "move this up a bit" or similar which may be tricky. I'm not either a Crystal guru or an HTML guru. What other reporting technologies are available that would make it easy to drop in parts of different sizes, do table layouts, etc.?

    Consider the following silly Perl program: $firstarg = $ARGV[0]; print $firstarg; $input = <>; print $input; I run it from a terminal like: perl myprog.pl sample_argument And get this error: Can't open sample_argument: No such file or directory at myprog.pl line 5. Any ideas why this is? When it gets to the < is it trying to read from the (non-existent) file, "sample_argument" or something? And why?

    I have some code to encrypt some strings in Python. Encrypted text is used as a parameter in some urls, but after encrypting, there comes backslashes in string and I cannot use single backslash in urllib2.urlopen. I cannot replace single backslash with double.     I want to print the page (div) if there is no horizontal scroll appear for that div. I have a div (1000px) with dynamic data which having property overflow:auto;. So, i want to print the div only if div's width is not getting crossed. to achieve this i used following method of a javascript var curr_width = parseInt(mydiv.style.width); But it gives 1000px; only althogh i can see horizontal scrollbar for the div. What should i do to achive this. Can i check wheather horizontal scrollbar is appear for the div or not. Any help is appreciated. NOTE:- i don't want to use any javascript library.

    In my program I frequently need to print various JComponents (generally JPanels) and I like them to be full-page. The way I do it now is by using the following code: g2d.scale(pf.getImageableWidth()/componentToPrint.getWidth(), pf.getImageableHeight()/componentToPrint.getHeight()); but this often stretches or otherwise deforms whatever I am trying to print, and I would much prefer to do something that re-sized intelligently, perhaps a functional version of: componentToPrint.setSize(pf.ImageableWidth(), pf.ImageableHeight); or say adding the component into a new JFrame and then setting the frame size (problem is components can't exist in two place at once). I wouldn't care if the resizing would make the rest of the GUI look terrible, as long as it is something that can easily be reset. Is there any way to do this?

    Hello! I've made a content type for links, I'm trying to make a link directory. People only have to submit the link, description is voluntary. If no description is entered, I want the header that says "description" to disappear. The description field is the node body. Right now my snippet looks like this <?php if (!empty($node->body)) {?> <div class="field field-type-link field-field-link-archive"> <h3>Description</h3> <?php print $node->content['body']['#value'] ?></div> <?php }?> I expect this to check if node body is not empty, and if it isn't it'll print what's there. The problem is that the Description header is still printed out even if the node body is empty. Can anyone see what's wrong?

  • Windows Service Printing Behaviour

    Alright, I was tasked to develop a Windows Service that listens to a directory for files that are dropped in it, read them, delete them and print out a report. I installed the service on my work laptop (Win 7 x86) and a test machine (XP x86) under a User account at first. It would do everything as it should except the print the report. No errors, nothing. Then I made it run under Local System and it produced a "No printers found" exception. Converting the app to a Console Application and running on these machines gave the desired result. OK, so now I was assuming that there are security "stuff" involved. Then I installed the service on a Server 2008 x64 machine (under Local System) and it just worked. Can anybody explain to me why this is happening? Why does the service allow printing from Server OS but not from a Desktop OS or am I missing something very obvious?

  • Canon MF3200 Printer Problems [closed]

    I bought a Canon MF3200 and used it on an old Windows laptop. The laptop broke, and now I'm trying to setup the printer on a laptop with Windows 7. I downloaded the new driver, and Windows was able to install it and mark it "Ready to Go." But whenever I try to print, an error comes up and it doesn't print. I tried to troubleshoot, to no avail. What else can I do? Any ideas on what the error might be?
